Summoner Profession

A summoner could be a very interesting profession that would let other players think twice about where to place their aoe’s.
As their summon circles could be activated when an enemy skill fuels the energy to create a gate when the initial field gets hit;it could turn into next stage gate
(some require enemy skill, others the skill of ally)
A summoner could easily overwhelm those that use skills and aoe without thinking.

so their main hand skills could create 3 types of forcefields for each weapon they use, somewhere on the battlefield..(max 3 gates up)
With their offhand they could tap energy that has been drawn to the summon circles to defend themselves while no summon circles have turned into summon gates yet
Or to defend their other gates that have been activated (knockbacks,energyblasts,..)
It would be a shame if this topic gets trashed to the floor.
I bet there are several other mechanics people could come up with that could make this profession work.
Some people want to set you up for fail, but fail to provide positive criticism or solutions..
But its not a lie that the summoner would need a kind of new mechanic to make it unique.

Wouldn’t it feel too much like a memsmer using scepter with clones but with different skins?and should summons just be linked to weapons?
I’m starting to get the feeling that its more and more part of the spiritualist suggestion or the medium suggestion I’ve introduced a while ago.
And with a proper mechanic behind it I think such a profession could be a very unique profession;with all these suggestions one good/unique profession could be created.
Later on i’m going to take the time to photoshop my updated vision on the medium too.
I love how you invent stories to your ideas.

But for the summoner, perhaps you have to consider different directions..
No doubt a summoner would be a profession that feels the magical potentials within an area.
Would probably only want to start the process of creating a summon gate in areas where the barriere is thin.
So I think a cool mechanic for a summoner would be that they can place summon circles strategically
These summon circles would trigger based on different kind of interactions.
Some would require enemy skills->Aatxe bashes their skull for triggering the gate,
other summon circles require different interaction to trigger or cross profession combo.
If the summoner stands in one of thes summon circle types, different skills become available to them based on what type of circle it is(they can walk out of it once they have absorbed some of the energy flow the specific circle has created)
perhaps they use a hint of asuran technology with portable little remotes to create gates.
maybe you have to make the summoner a part of “the chronomancer”
A gw1 profession concept
Also would it be more like a pet profession?or just a caster?,..

It is weird too that they force pve players in wvw for world completion.

It’s weird that they force PvP players out of the mists for world completion.

which then would bring us back to separate/different rewards for completing wvw and pve.(ones usable within the area you finish)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/1-Gift-of-Exploration-for-PvE-1-for-WvW

hmm but not 2 gifts of exploration perhaps for wvw gift of the conquer or something and different icon next to your name (like star for pve,and world icon for wvw)
Though they should bring pve and wvw closer together so people are more eager to try out both.Perhaps the bonus wvw gives to pve is not enough to make wvw attractive to pve players. And pve should have influence on wvw, with for example reinforcements based on how well players in pve perform for that server

Why cant people stick to one topic about wvw -_-
I think id prefer pve version maps of wvw as an alternative option to finish world completion.(for pve only minded,altoholics,..)
However if combat mode stays unabled till you go out wvw you couldnt just turn it on;you’d have to re enter wvw to enable combat mode.
BUt that would be weird somehow yes, running in enemy camps like “just saying hi and checking how you are doing
It is weird too that they force pve players in wvw for world completion.
They should make wvw more inviting and not force players in.
I do think they should link wvw and pve more closely together but at the same time keep both optional.

they could give players the option to finish world completion by finding all dungeon points, puzzles, graduation mission,..
Or doing it the way we all know;finishing all maps in wvw.

Then rewards for each of those worldcompletion options could be different
This way players who have done completion with wvw still really “earned” it and got the appropriate reward for doing so(other completion options wouldnt get)
On top of that alts could choose another way to explore the final bits if you don’t feel like doing it with wvw twice,or 9 times.
If you think finishing wvw map points is a pain, think about what it would be for people with 9 characters to finish it 9 times that way

Or perhaps you should only finish wvw once on your account and then get other options.but i’m not a big fan of wvw atm either.especially because strenght is all in numbers, the zergs, the ganking
maybe if they add more to wvw to prevent culling, like reinforcements, perhaps naval /air battle i’d grow to like it

tweak the reward system for events.
I guess the reward system rewards players for their damage done during an event or mobs hit.(otherwise how does the reward system measure it?)
As it is now the reward system is not always fair to new players or players who use condition damage/are more support oriented.
For example in begin areas, if a lvl 80 warrior walks in and kills off all the mobs related to an event, the new player gets copper badge for the event,
even if he/she has done much more “effort” as the high lvl character that walked in and said hello with a powerful swordswing.

And more support oriented players have less chances at loot because a profession with lots of aoe and dmg does the most killing
Some professions have more aoe abilities as others and they also take the loot chances down of other players with less aoe or supportive roles.
Thats why I think the reward system could use a tweak. And if the reward is based on damage done search for alternative aspects to reward players on.
Because participation is more than damage. And also the supportive players that help other players up and stuff deserve an equal reward.
I also notice that I more often get silver and copper for events in environments lots of players are present while playing mesmer or necromancer:
Its very easy to get gold on warrior ele while necromancers and mesmers have a harder time, unless they solo the event and no other player is around.

Also review the effectiveness of direct damage vs buildings, heal turrets of enemies, catapults, trebuchets,…
vs the effectivness of condition damage(burn, bleed and poison) vs all these mentioned things
(also most of the time for example scepters ans staff are worthless to fight buildings and objects compared to dagger or greatsword)
It wouldnt be very logical to bleed a house or door, but burning or poison(acids) sound somewhat logical.
But its not a matter of logic.
Why are somewhat already OP professions (most base health, direct dmg, most armor)like warrior able to smash these things within seconds while a necro takes ages hitting these things?(except with a dagger but not THAT fast either)
It also affects contribution perhaps in situations?
But it sure does affect whether you would survive against an enemy using a heal turret or something that needs to be destroyed within time.

“Cof LF3M Zerk war P1 Farm zerk war team only” I just read on the gw lfg site.
There sure is something wrong but is it with mentality of some people or role design?
The other day a thief just got kicked from the group for being a thief.
Really felt sorry for the old bugger.

And I ask myself whats up with all the " you have to be warrior to join" thing. They are good for some parts but certainly are not the best choice for everything.
Perhaps there should come a system that punishes groups/people that do more than 2 runs with a full group of the same profession.
Or give a profession specific buffs in dungeons ,so its more rewarding to have a somewhat diverse team;like if you have a thief in the team you get a bonus to gold dropping from mobs.or the guardian gives 5 procent chance to instant rally from down, while a mesmer could give a karma bonus, necro condition duration,…
When you then kick a profession without any nagging or nono words detected from the player your group gets a debuff to the corresponding profession that got kicked->thief is less gold during the dungeon and final reward, guardian a 5 procent chance to instant die when half of your downbar is empty

ehmm no, this would make it even worse with ppl speculating into the most efficient buffs from taking certain professions only, so then some professions would truely be screwed over cause they happened to be giving the less efficient buffs

hmm knowing how most people are yo might have a point.well then the only thing to do is find a guild that plays just for fun I suppose and doesnt really care what profession you are.But I still think these"warrior only" people deserve a hammer in the face

hmm a summoner could perhaps give more meaning to objects and pick-up junk if summoners can turn it into waste golems for example.
Perhaps they could place a field:if other professions do a cross-profession combo they can use the released energy to create a summon gate
or they could work with some kind of force field that they can place down on different spots on the battlefield.
Which can be activated to summon gate if a specific skill hits the field.
The summoner selects what type of skill is required for the gate to open
Could place summon fields to creategates for allies with supportive summoned creatures.
Or place field if enemies hit with condition, poison, it summons a creature that will fight against them.
So other professions have to be more careful and tactical about where to shoot their posionous cloud for example.
Also I’d prefer the summoner to have summonable creatures never seen until now in gw2

I love the thought of new mechanics, the gw2 professions are very inspiring.
Might update my own idea too at some point, its just that I have a brain hurricane that forces me to keep improving imperfect things in my mind ;p

There are really great aspects of the spiritualist that could be used for the medium.(orbs and dolls)
We all know if there ever happens to be a new spiritual profession (Spiritualist,Ritualist,Voodoolord,Oracle,Medium,..) there will only be one new of those able to be very different
Perhaps we should just clap our forces together and ask a mod to merge topics
Although I only want to discuss new possible mechanics that differntiates this new profession.
As that is the most important thing.
An introduction to the profession suits it well too.
But discussing details like lore should really be left to lorewriters of gw2.
People who insist on these details are often biased and wont step away from their tunnel vision point of view

Tipsy.5802

I changed the topic to give people better understanding what the topic is about.
And it may not be a well formed mechanic idea till this point yet no.but thats why I would like other insights on the mechanic I was thinking about.

Mediums commune with the spirit world in its entirety.
So little is known about the spirit world.
Its not good to think narrow minded charr spirits -> medium charr
And lore is important so these great lore writers you were talking about earlier could do a wonderful job fleshing out more details of the mysterious spiritworld.
Please Do understand that lore and profession mechanic are 2 different design aspects that at a point could come together
BUt forming this mechanic idea for a reincarnation of the ritualist is what this topic is all about.
ANd your input till this point just won’t help to construct this “well formed idea”
--
Update:perhaps a description about the profession would be nice thing to add to this mechanic topic,am thinking something along those lines:

“Mediums are spiritvessels gifted to contact the spirit realm.
They offer spirits comfort and a home to rent;their body
This mystical profession is a minionless caster but with great affinity to the spirit world,it is more like an empty bottle waiting to be filled,a spirit magnet that can unify with different spirit types and likes to connect to the spiritworld.Changing the “spirit aura” and areal spiritual activities" around them (spirit rays and blasts out of their back, chest, hands, eyes,…) According to which spirit they start an iniation ritual they get more specific and unique skills"

The Medium has a total different mechanic as the gw1 ritualist has, thats why it said “new ritualist?” in the title
(which I now edited because some people don’t seem to get what this topic is about)
I believe some kind of ritualist is possible with a new mechanic. It is true the engineer took most of the gw1 ritualist.
But the purpose of this topic is to find a good mechanic for a possible reincarnation.

The medium mechanic is totally different as the gw1 ritualist, and the gw2 engineer.
Thats why I removed the reference to the ritualist from the topic title all together.

@evolver
it shows that you have no respect when I said multiple times its not about the lore.
And who are you to say mediums use charr spirits..
You are destructive instead of constructive.
Its easy to be destructive and have no respect for others..Who should grow up?
And because you have no respect you probably would just disagree to anything I’d say anyway..
So get out.

I bet these writers do a wonderful job creating relevant lore to something they like..But the whole point is that is another stage in the design.
This topic is about a concept/mechanic of a possible profession, lore whatever at this point…
You dont like the idea of the medium then just admit it instead of creating so called fictional problems concerning lore/realism.
I don’t feel like engaging in that discussion, start a new topic about it if you really want.

Tipsy.5802

Lore is just not relevant unless they really would like to do something with this concept/mechanic.
Also keep in mind that everything should change/progress in tyria at some point:
like in gw1 charrs are the enemy and in gw2 they are a playable race(progression is key,Tyria moves on,charrmancipation)
If I would have suggested years ago to have charrs as playable race i’d be shot at sight…
And its true, charr legions reject the flame legion values and believes. But how does this apply to all shaman?Or even mediums(which are something different)
And where does it say the only charrs allowed to use spirits are flame legion?

Also, just because a group of shaman" joined an evil group called flame legion ,does this mean all charr shamans through history of tyria should be evil?
There could be shamans who see things from a different angle too.
Just like good/evil Necromancers there could be good/evil shaman in Tyria
All this is not really on topic, mediums are no shaman

Sylvari have a common dream,an appetite/gift to mediate the flow of other spirit powers would suite them fine…
its just how you want to see these things and how you nest these things into the game really.
I’m chaotic and not a lore master so you put me at a disadvantage here too(but places and characters in Tyria have to move on and keep changing)
Its way too early to talk about the lore aspect too for this idea.
For which profession do they talk about lore actually?they only seem to talk about what a profession is able of..
Lets keep things like realism/lore for another more appropriate topic, and focus on mechanic and concept
I always like some references within the lore ofcourse to a great elementalist or somthing.
But it just is not relevant atm,and i’m starting to think you want to lead this topic astray

more or less, but there are 3 bars which get filled up with favor. And each skill/utility builds toward a different type of spirit

each exclusive bar corresponding to type of spirit:
Favor barpiece 1 reached – fisrt tier of special spirit abilities – Favor barpiece 2 -T1 2X as effective+Tier2 special abilities of the spirit
Favor barpiece 3- Tier 1 skills 3x effective,T2 skills double effectiveness
Demonic F1 Benevolent F2 tortured F3
Full Favor bar:allow spirit to take over body,summon,trasform->elite
F4 if you decide to use the ultimate form of the bar that is full
When you use this ulitmate power all bars reset..if you didnt ,changing to different spirit favor skills would indeed reduce the favor in another spiritbar.

"weapon"bar(or should i call it ritual bar?) would build favor
The ultimate skills could change accordingly, depending on whether you use relics, totems, bodyparts, urn,…
Perhaps Utility skills would be different kinds of goods/tools/objects that aid you building favor towards one of the spirits.(would Mediums really use any of the weapons currently ingame?)
(for example a feather would change skillbar to build favor towards a benevolent spirit,a bodypart/bloodjar would help to build favor towards a demonic spirit,
chains and voodoodoll would build favor towards tortured spirits,
other players can carry you in an urn when you get full torture spirit approval and both you and the player carrying you gets skills that are very prone to performing combos)
Depending on the relic you equip you would get different initiation skillbar(enough variety to be effective in groups when doing the intitiation rituals)
Some rituals are for summon, other for transform perhaps and other to let a spirit take over body(I leave this open for now but i was thinking especially about letting spirits take over body when you get full approval)
Perhaps if I have more time later on I will re-organize skills to fit this whole picture

Tipsy.5802

Hi Tipsy,

I have a few questions, and I’ll list them below. I can see you’ve put some great effort in here and I’d like to help you further the concept.

1) What resource does the Medium use? Eg: initiative, adrenaline, etc. How does your unification differ from elementalist attunements in terms of mechanic?

2) How are the above skills tied to the skill bar? and how do you switch between unifications?

3) How to you manage cooldowns on skills and also the “full unifications” for elite skills? what happens if the cooldown is finished but you’re not fully unified?

I think the medium would use something along the lines of celestial force or spirit power/spirit approval to fuel their abilities
Instead of activating fire, water, air, earth at will like an elementalist would..
The medium would have skills at 2 different levels:the initiation rituals to gain the favor of a certain spirit (demonic,benevolent,tortured,..) and the ultimate form when ritual stage is complete.
Ofcourse with the initiation rituals they would be able to have skills for any situation like any other profession
But the skills would lean towards the spirit type you try to gain favor for;benevolent initiation would be more supportive tanky, tortured controle, and demonic more damage for example.

Then the ultimate form could be best comparable with full adrenaline bar,but instead it represents how many favor you build towards one of the spirits(there would be 3 horizontal bars on top of each other as i see it now..each representing a different spirit type approval lvl)
Depending on how much the bar is filled you gain more special powers, and even more unique to the spirit type if you fill a second part of the bar.
If you then manage to get full approval of a spirit you gain access to its ultimate power/elite skill and your initiation skills will switch to the ultimate form skills if you press the button to switch to them..
When starting a ritual for the benevolent spirit the approval of the demonice spirit would also decrease:the bar of demonic spirit would go down and its skills become less effective, and vice versa

I guess you would switch to another spirit approval process F1 F2 F3
with F4 if you wish to enter the ultimate spirit form if you have full approval bar of that type of spirit to gain access to its most unique abilities and elite stuff.
I guess they would have 3 bars like a necromancer builds up life force;but instead it indicates if the spirit type you perform the rituals for are willing to lend you their powers
So it would be very different compared to other professions currently ingame really.

who says charr or sylvari cant be gifted to be a medium?Im not gonna go this road.its like talking why minions of 1 necromancer are used for good and others for evil..but should it be banned from game because its actually pure evil dark arts?Or is it?
I would think sylvari engineer or necromancer is stranger as medium infact..
or a sylvari plant attuning to fire..see,you can make problems everywhere if you want it..
But back to you the one I actually quoted:I hope I answered all questions

Edit;
forgot to answere question 3 I think..
the cooldowns on skills is a real riddle to me too,but I’d think its best if you decide to go in the ultimate form, all approval bars will reset once you get out of it.
the bars could have tiers like adrenaline ,with each time more powerfull skills of that spirit type if you reach the next barpiece
Full bar-ultimate form available with f4
I can imagine a medium to be somewhat tired too after it has offered its body to something foreign" as a spiritvessel which the medium truly is…
So perhaps after ultimate form they could have some kind of weak moment,so they have to plan when to use this more strategically too

Lower the cost of Tier 3 Cultural Armor

Tipsy.5802

Farming should be a choice and not an obligation. If it really becomes tedious its often a sign that something is wrong/missing for that part ingame.
Cost is not really the point either, guess you could say legendaries share a similar problem with the T3 cultural.
But on top of that legendaries just don’t belong on the trading post imo,its like you’re able to ordering a baby on amazon or ebay…
Its the road you went and when you finally give birth that makes it special.
Crafting is the most exciting (and only exciting) way to get legendary at the moment and that is the problem:
Hoarding gold to buy a legendary or T3 culteral isnt very exciting way to get it.
If its all about the money to get these items and when it doesnt have a deeper connection to the game itself to achieve these weapons/armor,
People wont recognize the road you went..Its like “yea that guy had the money” and they would think nothing more of it either
While if these items had a deeper root in the game to obtain it,it would give a certain recognition to the player other than
“he/she had more money than sense”

They should consider alternative ways of getting legendaries and T3 cultural armors(for example by aiding your race in the begin area with new missions)
Its not the money, its how you can get them where the problem is(which is limited to hoard your gold till you can buy or craft yourself)

Perhaps when we finish hearts the amount of trophies should be taken out of our bags automatically for a little bonus of 15 coppers a trophy..
or be able to put trophies in the mystic forge or trade them for useful items indeed..
Its a shame the only option you have when you return to town is to destroy these bag -filling items that can’t be sold nor salvaged, while most of the time you destroyed items that are worth something just to make space during heat of battle.
And I know you can trade them at a heart person during hearts, but after the heart is done you should be able to do something with the trophy that are sitting in your bags

Since the the engineer of gw2 took most of the mechanics of the gw1 ritualist it is the purpose to work out a new mechanic for a possible reincarnation of the ritualist (possible under a different name) in gw2.At this point mechanic related discussion only please

“my body is a temple where sensations take place beyond your wildest dreams”

Mediums are scholars ,they mediate communication between spirits of the dead. And channel the etherial forces which can lead to extreme power outages once a spirit lends them their powers.
They could unify with 3 types of spirits:demonic, benevolent and tortured ,..
For example with a benevolent spirit they could purge areas ,sharing the feeling of compassion and warmth to any ally nearby, knock back shadowfiends forcing evil spirits to vanish and a necromancer to return to its normal form..
Only with full unification the medium has enough strenght to use the maximum amount of power(elite skills) the kind of spirit they unify with has to offer.
They work with a unification mechanic.

Unification with a demonic spirit:(more dominating/damage abilities)

shrinking ray:shrink an enemy, decreasing the damage it inflicts

Unshakable:becomes immune to knockdowns or other effects that interrupt combat(elite skill)

Sacrifice:sacrifice health in order to resurrect or heal an ally

Sorrow:enemy target loses precision and are vulnerable,25 procent dmg they do goes to their allies

Inferno/hellfire:souls of enemies burn in hellfire and the more they run around the harder it burns and damages them(elite skill)

Devils’ pact:Let the demonic spirit take over your body for x seconds, transforming into a mighty demon, pain suppression (elite skill)

Spellbloom:enforces target ally casters’ spell inpact and effect, granting might and other buffs to comfort" your ally

Spirit might:summons spirits around you to do aoe ,if you get downed while under the effect of spirit might, the spirits that are active in the aoe will be chainpulled/zap toward you to revive you

Unification with tortured spirit:(deny/mass chain stuns/condition)

Chained spirit:whenever the enemy tries to do melee dmg they will choke and lose all endurance

Prison of agony:lift an enemy off the ground in a prison of mental and physical suffering(elite skill)

Stare into the abyss:a vortex of spiritenergy that draws enemies to it,reducing their speed and forcing them to crawl with downed skills(elite skill)

Mind blast:the medium project a wave of telekinetic force that knocks enemies back, gives retaliation to the medium and damage to the foe

soul trap:if enemy is downed while spell is active it returns spirit energy to you and enemy goes automatically to defeated mode

Banish:extra damage to any summoned, undead and shadow fiends

Pain reflection:if damage inflicted on target ally or self=equel damage returned to a target foe when the medium desires to cast it back ,within a certain time ofcourse(elite skill)

Clarity:mental focus, reserving of vigor in personal suffering/immune to confuse

Unification with Benevolent spirit:(more support-like unification,dispels,purge,soothing aura,..)

Spirit shroud;the character becomes a white transparant spirit, making them difficult to hit(elite skill)

Anti-magic burst:burst that eliminates magical effects in an area

Rejuvenate:regenerative spirit energy(passive minor healing skill)

Cleanse:remove all negative effects from allies in range(elite skill)

Spirit shield:any hostile spells are absorbed into the spiritworld, empowering the spirits surrounding the medium

Second chance:the spirit mere presence lends greater resilience to wounds and automatically restores health when you or the ally falls close to death(elite skill)

Will-o’-the-wisp:a small living spiritpet that grants a regeneration and can be converted to an aura that blinds in close combat

Purity ray:cleans 1 curse,damages enemy

the skill list I made long ago but it is just to give an idea
I know lots of players would like to see the ritualist return in its old form.
But I think the turret engineer is meant to be what the ritualist was in gw1
But the ritualist of gw1 is awesome so i have mixed feelings, but sometimes change is a good thing and I would love to see a reincarnation of that profession,if needed with other name and mechanic(at least,I don’t mind)

Selectable pve world completion mission

Instead of forcing other players to go into wvw to achieve world competion
Keep the world completion within the same area of the game:pve.
But give players the option to focus on a specific part they enjoy to gain world competion.
Like complete all puzzles,or discover these places, search for holy grail,..
Some kind of graduation mission that starts once you complete all pve maps, that sends you back to specific locations..
Not making world completion easier, but allowing players to focus more on a specific aspect of world exploration that they enjoy

120 runs in 120 hours in the same dungeon is a real hoot!
(If I was like the Mad Hatter in Alice in wonderland)
Infact I think dungeon grinders should be punished for hiding away in a cave while they cant see what really is important;zhaitan..
Instead of making it cheaper give players more ways to earn it:by aiding their race in the begin area(new content) and earn it,then it would be real prestige
And actually fun…

It wouldn’t take 120 runs, and you don’t have to do them all at once…

I’m well aware of that, neither would I do that..
Takes away all the fun of a dungeon.
Did they ever say it was just fo vanity actually?Isn’t there a problem if people assume this?
They could add more fun ways to spend time to work for the cultural armor and earn it by aiding the corresponding race.
Nor is it unfair to players who already earned it;it still is a long-term goal
But you have more exciting ways to earn it..It turns from “just that overprized skin” into “real cultural prestige armor”

Why cant they just enjoy the game for what it is instead of farming tokens like a mad cow. sigh* Then there are these groups that think skipping is still the right option after 4 total party wipes -_-

ofcourse dungeon is some kind of exploration..perhaps they can add new dungeon bonus reward if you can get to a certain point in the dungeon without being discovered or something along those lines

WvWvW in 100% Map Completion

finishing these maps can really give a headache if your woldcolor in wvw stays the same for a long time and if the forts you need are always taken.
Checking in wvw just to see if these points are available over and over is just not fun.
Perhaps you should be able to enter as a spy at least ,or carrying a white flag or something..so you can just do map completion.
But it are 2 separate areas of the game and thats why the completion for these 2 areas should be separated

I think the price is high yes…if you have many characters you want the t3 skin for..
Perhaps there should be some kind of reputation points you can gather to get a discount if you reach a certain reputation lvl.
This way players still have to work hard for their prestige armor and could aid their race to earn it too;still long-term goal
And at the same time you give players reason to return to begin areas and do the (hopeful) refreshing stuff in order to gain it
Ofcourse you could also be patient and wait till you earned like 10 times the amount gold needed before spending it on just these skins you want
But I prefer the idea of aiding your race to earn them as alternative.
Just reducing the price is perhaps not the best option, but giving more options to players to earn them over a long period sounds cool to me..
While adding new ways/content to aid your race for it and really give players the feeling they earned it

lots of the the slayer -style achievements are missing one again indeed: 999 kills and several explorer parts have had a setback of a place to visit:iOrr/Maguuma explorer, one place is missing now as well.Went from like 4007 yesterday night to 3868 anet points.
Hope they will ever give a deeper meaning to Anet points as well, not just something to brag with

CoST is a social pvx guild with active teamspeak channel for multiple purposes.
The most important is enjoying the game, everyone plays at his/her own pace.
We do not tolerate arrogance and elitism.
Helpful players, those who respect each other and just play the game for the fun of it are much appreciated.
CoST members are of questionable sanity and if you are totally bonkers you will feel right at home

Our guild is based on Piken Square .
Language:English
You can apply at http://cost.enjin.com
There is a little sanity test you have to take,
and if you pass you are welcome in our humble madhouse.
Don’t forget to check the tab next to home “court of wha?”
to find out if you truly have all the right symptoms to join
In case you have too many of the negative symptoms I’m sure there are many therapeutic alternatives as well

thats a good start.
Tyrian contests could be an excellent way to do so ingame
Facing a new sort of challenge together, with a chance to win exciting prices each month/week..

These contests would be something completely different each period too
Like the next one could be a fishing contest with different types of fishing bait scattered around Tyria
The type of fishing bait you’ll find is based on how well you perform and the location you are in.
You have low quality bait and high quality with higher/lower chance to catch big/exotic types of fish.
The group catching the most of the required type wins a big tyrian ship container filled with goodies

Or solving a gigantic jumping puzzle with many, many levels to smack the gigantic pinata everyone can see
but only the first group to reach can get

Mmo’s are all about getting together with friends and Tyria is a wonderful place to do so.
But I believe it could be even more exciting with big contests (sort of like the olympics)
Where people are stimulated to meet up and sign up for a contests with that extra element of surprise:they never know what contest to expect next week/month.

Like for example a contest to build a new mothership airballoon for one of the legions of the charr.
first group to build this airship wins ..
But you’ll need to solve puzzles and different paths/instances to find potential parts and hints how to build this airship with your group
and do research like with guild queu so you wont be able to finish in one day.(not meant to be finished in 1 day but rather long-term goals)
but you can speed up the research process with additional “hints” your team gathers

It could also be contest that are more focused on some kind of epic minigame, arena contest, one focusing more on the roleplay aspect,…
It would give players other reasons to meet up ingame and add new meaning to existing locations/perhaps minigames/other aspects and areas of the game..its a win-win

perhaps involve arenanet point in the cost of the legendary stuff as well.
People ask what arenanet points are good for at the moment and honestly I cant give an answere to that…Its also the question who deserves them? Both casual players/loyal fans?
Or only players that convert lots of gems into gold?and the ones that play 24/24 each and every day?
If arenet points would give a small discount for legendary if you reach certain amounts of anet points, the points would get a meaning
Reward those who are loyal fans of gw2 and not just the weirdos that play 24/24 and convert their whole salary to get a legendary

WvWvW in 100% Map Completion

I’d like to see wvw and pve completion separated as well
Perhaps make it separate achievements with the known * for pve and °(small world icon) for wvw next to it.
with each separate rewards (some blueprints or personalized instanced barracks for wvw)
It can really give a headache if your server is constantly outnumbered in wvw…
2 total different areas of the game..
And why force players into wvw?make it more inviting if anything.

momentary assigned objectives-> gradual bonus

in Suggestions

Posted by: Tipsy.5802

Tipsy.5802

For each time the objective is finished with succes the player/party gets better chance at a nicer bonus(15 in a row gives +15 magicfind for 15 minutes for example)
Objectives for single players in pve could take like a 3 minutes each and involve finishing something within the surrounding area or finding something/someone.
“wave to player with same profession nearby " “find the rabit hole nearby” “kill the stealthed thief” “spot the looney” “return goods that have dropped off the packbull”

In groups it would be those and other things like an assigned target that your group has to interrupt,confuse,pull.. within seconds
All taunt the boss, perform 3 combo’s within 15 seconds, don’t leave a party member behind while in combat mode during the whole dungeon,…
It would be to spice up things even more and bring players closer together at the same time

Cantha storyline ideas?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Tipsy.5802

Tipsy.5802

maybe some kind of offspring of the dragon Kuunavang could be the good protector of the Cantha region, although he/she is a myth within the city walls…
A corrupt government hunting it down because its a so called menace to Tyria(although they are really after its power for glory and madness)
The petrified forest could now be a forest of the singing dryads, awoken by this mysterious divine dragon.
The kurzick evolved in some kind of divine mediums who commune with sacred spirits and sometimes let them possess their body to gain special powers and insights
Most of the issues between kurzick and Luxons have been solved by a very social quaggan that brought the 2 together
The luxons have build a big statue and throne on the back of a gaint turtle to honor that great quaggan.
And tengu would fit nicely as playable race, not to mention the new armors, weapons,…

No respawning in the Dungeon rez-rush

Tipsy.5802

Combat has always disabled map travel via waypoints.

In pve that is fair cause “combat” applies to you always
But in dungeons it’s not totally waterproof
While I do like it partly:players need to help each other more and use skill if they want to succeed in dungeons(rather than respawn 100 times to overcome something,…)

The disabled wp in combat-mode can become a curse in dungeons if a rushing party leaves you behind dead while constantly engaging new foes in combat and eventually bosses sometimes(no longer is th wp disable only related to your combat)
Or like for example in the flame-orb tunnels from Cathedral of flames path 3(the one where you get instantly killed if the aoe pops while you are at it)
lets say the group ignores you and continues attacking, pulling mobs and eventually the boss…you just lay there being instantly defeated, feeling all useless…
And angry at the group for abandoning you and being so reckless not to give you a chance to even waypoint and try over at that earlier point were you actually failed
Well, with such a group, with no team spirit, “leave party” is the best thing to do(which I did in that situation)

But you see,its just that you get punished really hard sometimes with this system in place with no chance to contribute nor get drops (for mistakes that are no longer yours)
Because they decided not to wait for you and just continue engaging new combat you are no longer part of,thus keeping you from possible drops for that 1 mistake you made earlier, which is no longer relevant to the combat the groups keeps engaging.(its another battle and you are left out)
Doubt you would get dungeon reward too if you don’t get the chance to contribute at the boss because you got instantly killed at a “puzzle” part in the dungeon earlier.
It would be the same like if in pve you party up with someone on that map,you die at the other side of the map but cant waypoint because the other member is engaging combat somewhere far south for a map event that you are not part of

You just get no chance in some situation with the “disabled waypoint in combat mode while in dungeons” ,and get punished for instant dead/combat you are no longer part of too
That is the main difference with it in pve (you only can waypoint if you are out combat mode(your combat) or you are defeated)and why it needs some adjustments(I dont say its bad to have"unable to wp during combat" in dungeons but you could get punished for other battles your party engages after the actual defeat reason of your own)

Perhaps a system when you are far behind the waypoint will become available again
Or a reckless state on party members leaving someone behind. That the waypoint costs get transfered to them for abandoning a party member. This encourages to leave no one behind like that. And some sort of solace for the abandoned player that gets no reward for the other combat the group keeps engaging
