i would like to be able to afk and stay stealth,
bathroom breaks, phone calls, paying the delivery boy, u know…
spawn point is usually too far away in WvW :P

a XII trait like:
if you stay still for 10 sec you gain stealth.
breaks on action or movement.

but i wouldnt want a permanent stealth on the move. (ala-wow-rogue)

it doesnt happen all the time, more like 1/3.

-the No1 button continues to blink.
-the lightning animation remains no matter how much distance i have from the enemy i just killed.
-if i change attunements No1 continues to blink and the animation partially dissapears.
(the mile-long lightning arc is gone, while im stuck at “casting pose” with the animation on my hand still there)

Im not sure you’re gonna like it here. And that’s a problem.

im WvWing with a staff, and i hate how every skill has unneeded casting time.
this annoys me since im used to a more responsive combat with my thief and other alts (havent tried engi yet)

i also think the atunement cooldown is really big,
but i can understand that it is needed since its like having 4 weapons.

and of course there is the useless downed-2-skill

he is very fun, but his no2 downed skill is worse than useless.

and even with 30 points in Arcana, i find the cooldown on attunements very annoying.

“Stealing recharges all skills of one type (venoms, signets, traps, tricks, or deceptions)”

it is bugged.

i made a build with just Deception skills (Blinding Powder, Smoke Screen, Shadow Refuge)
and tried it on the golems.
i tried it with various combinations, just one skill on cooldown, two, all three… etc..

it appears that some times it works and some times it doesnt.
either fix it to be reliable, or remove it completely.
no PvPer wants to rely on a russian roulette skill.

This is not a bug, it Improvisation will reset one of your utility types regardless of what utilities you have equipped.

wouldnt it be more logical if it would first check and see which type of ability is on cooldown, and then randomize which ones to reset?
if it is not on cooldown, there is nothing to reset O_o
and it would make the trait actually useful. (cause atm, even if u have 3 types of abilities, there’s still a 40% chance it will reset none of them)

frustrating if u've played other classes before.

hi, im here to QQ.

my main is a thief. im playing an elementalist my highest alt doing WvW.
and i just “exited to desktop” because i was frustrated at the lack of a no2 Downed skill.

im used ot the thief who has one of the best no2 skills, along with warrior and mesmer.

but the elementalist’s no2 downed skill not only isnt useful, but it does the opposite of what a no2 skills is supposed to do.
why would i want to slow them? keep them more time on me? and draw their attention so they finish me for sure?

keep the animation, but do this a daze or knockdown, earthquake style.

Please explain how this is balanced?

-Stealth should break(100% visible, not a slow fade in) when the stealth player does any action.
-Stealth players should have a chance to lose stealth when taking damage while stealth.
-Attacking a stealth player, should still display the damage in the area that the stealth player was hit in.

-u cant be 100% in stealth and deal damage. its a server issue i suppose.
-no kitten way. (i actually censored it myself lol)
-no.
u can just wait a few seconds for shadow refuge to end and cut him like a wet paper-towel.

thieves would be as good as dead in WvW. not that they dont get AoE’d by accident as it is.

i play a thief in wvw and all classes as alts in spvp.

necros seem fine. hard to kill, and with good dispell/debuff group utility.

i think the only underpowered class atm is elementalist.
squishy and slow to act, too much casting and too much cooldowns.

imo mesmer needs some toning down.

so when you hit 80, you continue to get xp filling your lvl80 xp bar,
but instead of gaining a level u gain a skill point.
even though you already have learned all your skills.

and if u do 100% world completion you will certainly end up with way more skill points than you would need to get all your skills.

right now the only use for those skill points is to buy certain high end materials for crafting.

but since i dont plan on taking crafting too seriously, id love to see an alternative use for them.

so here comes my suggestion:

you gain 1 skill point for every time you gain a full level, once you reach 80.
so it would be fair if we could spend those skill points to get actual levels on another character that is not lvl80.

think about it, if u had spent on your alt the time you spent filling your lvl80 xp bar,
u would have indeed gained a level (practically it would have been a lot more).

what do u think?

plus they have the best utility racial, 5’’ retaliation.

the only really helpful thing about pistol offhand is the no4 interrupt
when enemies try to finish off your team mates.
no5 blind isnt as useful as ppl think cause ull be focus-fired if u get in melee range.

Pretty much, yeah. Though thieves hardly have any options anyway… shortbow is our secondary option almost all the time and sword/dagger is always bad.

sword/dagger is bad because Flanking Strike instead of working properly
it actually works against you, by never pathing correctly.
they should either fix it (idealy) or change it.

my goal is to be able to play WvW keep sieges smoothly.

what needs changing is MoBo, CPU, RAM, HD.

my current GPU (5770) can handle sieges in med/low settings
so ill change it later at some point. and PSU is fine (560w).

ive talked with a friend of mine who knows a bit about these things and we ended up with this spec:

Gigabyte Z77M-D3H
Intel Core i5 3470
OCZ Vertex 4 Series
and some 8gb DDR3 ram.

this costs roughly 450 euros. which is good for my budget.
would rather not go over 500 euros (650 usd)

so, is this spec any good, do u have any suggestions?

should i go for a 2000mhz ram or 1600 is fine?

i would suggest one of the following changes:
-make them same price as trebuchets
or – make their aoe 33% smaller.
or – reduce their damage by 50%.

and everyone has some kind of stunbreaker.
so ur not making sense.

The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

in fact, many of my guildies and friends agree that this will kill the game if not fixed.
we all agree that the game should not be taken seriously if this is not fixed.

as a practitioner of both fencing as a teenger(the sport)
and kenjutsu the last few years (part of ninjutsu training)
i have to say u most definitelly do not use any sword like that.
looks like you’re trying to hit a fly with a cane.

necro has insane survivability, and is extremelly useful in WvW where he can
take conditions off allies, put them onto a foe, then spread them to everybody.

ele has tons of damage and aoe, badge-machine in WvW.
but very very squishy. and not the easiest class to play.

mesmer isnt easy to play either, but he is very strong, especially 1v1.
and he has some pretty cool skills like portals, invisibility, reflective domes, and more.

so, i dont think u’ve made a great choice if what u like is dungeons.
much better games for raiding out there. u know which one i mean.

pvp needs roles.
people need to be able to spec as tanks or controllers or support.
or else there isnt much strategy and tactics needed
appart from organised movement tactics.

WvW with everyone playing as ranged dps (that’s how it is atm) is just stupid.

i get it that you dont want to spend an hour looking for a tank,
but everyone doing the same things dps/buff/debuff/control/support
makes the game bland and boring as a whole.

You haven’t played MMOs before the Holy Trinity generation if you think there is no strategy and tactics without roles.

That’s like saying: Hey Legolas, do DPS, I’ll tank!

Or Joan-of-Arc saying: Medics with me! We’re assaulting the castle now! Concentrate on healing us! Archers keep DPS, but dont aggro them!"

Nope, roles =/= strategy and tactics. You go back-to-back with your comrades and move in tandem with each other. You know or can predict/expect the next move or moves of your comrades and adapt and adjust based on it.

If you see them down, you think and find a way to survive while thinking of a way to revive them. You don’t just keep doing DPS or tanking or whatever, waiting for a media/healer to come over and revive them.

If your comrade is down, you cover for him. You do the “tanking”, you do the “DPS”. You think. You make decisions. That’s what GW2 is. That’s how games were played before the roles/Holy Trinity was implemented, we use our brains.

i didnt say there are no tactics involved.
i said that when the game has more aspects, as in,
not everyone doing everything, but having roles,
tactics become more complex and the game less boring.

I fear many people want every MMO to be WoW with better graphics.

no. more like WAR with better graphics and controls.

having roles makes the game more complex and allows for more strategizing.
everybody being able to do everything makes the game boring as a whole.

im not saying to be a cookie-cutter.
but as it is, it is impossible to spec as a front-line-fighter or as a supporter.

this game supposedly has 3 roles, control, support, damage.
dps is what everybody is.
controlling is somewhat effective.
supporting is really about luck with such tiny-radius and brief-duration support skills.
and there is no durable spec. everyone get more or less squished.

to sum up, it’s fine that everyone is able to spec for every role.
there just isnt enough difference between different specs.

GW2 supposedly has roles as well. Damage, Control, Support.

so far, the game as a whole is bland and boring because everyone can do everything.

i support specific roles. at least in pvp.

altho that would require a big improvement on supporitng skills.
because the radius of healing/curing spells is waaay too small and brief.
one can not be a support even if he wanted.
and even if he succeeded, he wouldnt get any badges.

and playing a “pusher” (tank/controller) is not an option since u
get squished in WvW even if ur “tank geared/specced”.
WvW is a ranged class game.

my suggestion: (just from the top of my head. needs tweaking)

make guardian/necro/ele’s heals/boons/cures radius a lot bigger.
120 radius is a joke. same with trying to heal/cure/buff via elixir gun.

give warriors and guardians a big passive toughness/vitality bonus at the end of their “toughness and vitality trees”
something like… when wearing a shield you get 300 bonus toughness and vitality.
followed by a XI-XII trait like… when hit by more than 4 enemies you block all attacks, 15 sec internal cooldown.

^just a thought^

in general there SHOULD be roles. and this game said it had roles. where are they?
everybody buffs/debuffs/heals/cures/dps’s. this is boring, and makes combat not require so much strategy.

what pvp games’ roles should be:

tank: low damage. high defense. lots of CC.
(job: push/hold the line, get dps off ppl’s backs via knockbacks, slows, and taunts-ala-war/swtor)

support: medium damage. low defense. lots of support.
(job: defensive support like healing and curing. offensive support like debuffing and purging)

damage: high damage. medium defense. low CC.
(job: depending on class and spec, aoe/cleave/single/sneaky/pets/etc.)

every one of those classes should have a dps spec though.

I hate to burst your bubble.(Haha, see what I did there?) But I just did some extensive testing on this with all the races on the golems seen in youtube video above. There is no difference in the skill except the visual component. The knockback radius is the same, it seems like it isn’t because the tooltip doesn’t say it can only knockback 5 targets at a time, like every other AoE in the game. There is no game breaking difference between the characters.. only difference is the visual. Hope this helped.

Blink dysfunctional

Oke… i’ll try to explain the differance one more time. Between a Leap (with Z axis) and Blink (with nearly no Z axis)

Below is a drawing made with MAD paint skills.

Situation 1

Pink is the mesmer which will be using Blink. When he uses it in situation 1 blink will create a path leading to the other location. First it will do a check if there is a way to walk there, if thats true then it will check the distance. If both checks are oke (as seen in situation 1) the person will blink to the other location.
what the game ACTUALY does.. is move the player with rapid speed using the path shown on the picture.

Green is a guardian using Leap of Faith as this is a skill which has a Z axis build in (Cause the character will actualy jump) it doesnt care about pathing. It will just jump a set amount forward.
What the game does is basicly make the character jump and then give it a push

Situation 2

This time there are no stairs nor anyway to walk there. Mesmer will once again try to blink but because there is no pathing the game will try to put you as close to the destination as possible, thus ending on ledge. You will never fall down.
Why? cause blink has no Z axis so your character will not be lifted from the ground like in a jump.

For the guardian, his leap doesnt give akittenabout pathing or not. So it will still move the set amount of distance forward.
Why? Cause leap has a Z axis and lifts the character up and moves it forward

Now… i hope you finaly understand what a Z axis is. Just because you sometimes can move up a mountain doesnt mean you actualy travel in the air.
And now for the grand conclusion.. this is what the OP ment. If you are lucky you can blink on a mountain, if your cursor is 2 cm off and the game cant make a path your blink will fail.

hi. i do a lot of WvW with my guildies and even withVoIP it is pretty much 50% luck if you will get that boon the guardian casts around him or the engineer shoots from his spraygun, and so forth.

the radius of a guardian’s mark is like… 120. wth?!
this barely fits a single norn, let alone your group members.
also, cone abilities are way too hard to land in this game where everyone is constantly moving and dodging.

i play a thief, so my role is quite independant, but still, i can understand that some people enjoy playing as support or control (two of the three roles this game supposedly has)
but the way it is, my support/control teammates get almost no badges at all
while the guys that get the most badges are aoe classes.

my suggestion:
allow for raids in WvW. (no silly commander raids where ppl get self-invited)
everyone within the raid gets same credit. (if within range of the battle)
no more annoying loot-bags. seriously -_-

you usually stay in combat indefinitely after going stealth.
even though all mobs have reset and you dont have agro.
needs relogging.

Flanking Strike obviously. it’s pathing fails 90%.

Infiltrator’s Strike and Infiltrator’s Arrow.
a slight elevation or step, a tiny gap, a twig in the way, and it will not work.
but of course it will burn your initiative and cooldown.
fix it. climbing up and down platforms and across gaps would be immense fun!

stealthing while attacking often results in you immediately getting out of stealth.

it seems like all stealthing skills or traits last less than it is written on the tooltip.
except Shadow Refuge which (not that i complain) seems like it lasts longer than the tooltip.

i dont play mesmer, and while i do think that the cooldown is fine, (20-30s seems right)
i think that such skills in general should allow you to teleport across gaps or on higher/lower terrain.
it is just too much fun to be able to climb something or cross a big gap using one of your spells.

many of the thief skills (i play thief) include teleporting, either like Blink or on your enemy.
but it fails if the terrain isnt smooth or if there is a small obstruction like a twig or a rock.

such skills would have been so much fun if they worked across gaps and elevations.
and it wouldnt be imba since most classes have such skills.
