I was a bit shocked when I started my necro how the blood fiend and others looked, but I actually kinda like it. The minions aren’t the standard, boring skels/zombies in EVERY other game, and it makes it feel that you’re animating a truely horrific collection of spare parts.
Also as a Sylvari, I don’t reckon my character has too solid a grasp on organic anatomy anyway…
Zombie trees. Would be kind of cool I guess.
Thing is people roll necromancers for the zombie/skeleton minions though. That’s a staple of the class. I wouldn’t roll an assassin without expecting to use daggers either.
Some of the pets like the scorpion thing are kinda cool, but the undead bunnies are very weak looking in my opinion. You kinda need something that says “ohh scary, it’s ded!”
Honestly, I kind of wish we had a similar pet system like rangers, but for dead things.
Have it as an elite skill. Something dies, you can resurrect it and keep it as a permanent pet. It gets its own lifebar and a few skills. If you don’t like it you can dismiss it and capture something new. Would be kind of cool to have a bandit NPC minion.
I’m not going to go into a wall of text here, but my issue with Death Shroud is that it feels like the whole class is essentially balanced around 4 buttons. Yay. Death Shroud is like a second lifebar!
Yeah, one that lasts for 5-10 seconds, and takes a few minutes to refill. Whopee. And what do you do? You get 4 buttons. One that’s on autoattack, so technically you get 3 buttons.
So. Friggin. Sweet.
The class doesn’t even feel ‘Necromancery’. There’s no curses. You apply the same debuffs everyone else does (and do a kittenier job too). The pets look pathetically weak. Your animations are recycled everywhere. And to top it all off, you switch into a form that takes away EVERYTHING from you and gives you 3 buttons.
Masters of death amirite?
It’s because they’re forcing you to use the Trading Post.
They’ve got you by the balls, mate.
Folks are talking about it reducing the WTS spam. Yeah, because the game somehow magically has global chat. That makes sense. What, were you going to complain that people would spam WTS in Lion’s Arch? You know, a place where trade kinda is implied by the architecture, style, vendors, and story?
Ha. Ha. Ha. That would be quite foolish of you.
That being said, if they wanted everyone to use the TP, then at the very least they should insure you the capability of previewing items, sorting by armor type, and also have a proper working search input box. The latter bugs out when you search for an item, open up another window, and go back to the Trade Post search window. You have the little ticking line implying input, but it doesn’t actually register keystrokes, instead you find yourself opening 30 different windows because you typed in words like “major”.
If someone could reproduce this it would be great, but I’m having problems with mark of blood triggering heals in Personal Story.
I have two bone fiends, flesh golem, and shadowfiend up along with Mary Sue Hearne, and two other npcs. Mark of blood sometimes doesn’t trigger the healing effect. Is there a possible cap on how many people can be healed by the mark? Well of Blood seems to heal everyone.
My Vampiromancer feels viable in sPvP. Let me know what you think.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Vampiric Rituals correctly siphon health atm.
How much of a heal are you getting per tick?
I hate him.
I hate him with a burning passion.
You think you have it bad? Try your personal story as a Sylvari
The motherkitten hijacks it at level 20.
I know the history of Saladbolg. I retrieved the kitten sword from that wussy squire who ran away. I USED IT TOO. But Nope, Trahearne gets it.
Oh hey this dude was a scholar and made it his life’s work to get rid of Orr’s little dragon problem. That’s nice. Wait, how or why is he a general now? Before Claw Island it was explicitly stated that he had no combat experience, why does he suddenly know enough to COMMAND armies? WITH MY SWORD?
What happened to all the godkittenpeople that I saved? WHY DO THEY RECOGNIZE HIM AS THEIR SAVIOR AND NOT ME?
Ultimate kicker?
He’s a necromancer. I’m a necromancer.
He can wield a 2 hander. I can’t.
“Oh hey, we’re stuck in this cave trying to rescue these researchers”. " Oh noes they closed off the exit. "
Trahearne: “lolnp I’ll just summon five flesh golems lololol. It’s gonna hurt a bit, but watch me”
HHNNNNNGGGGG

“THERE YOU GO! LET’S GET EM BOYS!”

I hate him. I really really do.
My favorite part of any personal story is watching him do thousand blades (because he’s a necromancer) and then dying.
Whenever he dies, I make it a point not to resurrect him. I genuinely get disappointed when he magically revives himself to deliver his lines of dialogue.
Just stay dead Trahearne. Nobody likes you. Nobody.
Reading the thread…it sounds to me like people are going in with glass cannon cookie cutter specs expecting to face tank everything but getting a rude awakening instead.
Look guys, I know that big critz are fun. I got my face smashed in the low level Personal Stories too when I went pure conditionmaster. A single hit would molest me for half my health bar.
But then I respeccd more defensively, spread my traits across, and now have no problems whatsoever. Find what’s right for you.
I’m on my second character and I’m focusing full support. The Personal Story is a cakewalk. A Slooooow cakewalk. Pretty much nothing can get me below 90% HP when I play right. I don’t think the personal story is at fault here.
TL;DR
Spread your traits around. Go for damage, but also for some toughness/vitality. Pay attention, and most importantly, Learn to play.
I can’t see kitten
Hmm,
Right now, plague signet is bugged so it doesn’t actually pull the conditions from party members to you, it just copies them over. I like Signet of Undeath, but it has such a long cooldown. Maybe it comes down to group composition, but when pugging, folks constantly bob in and out of the downed state, I always found Ritual of Life to be much more beneficial for that. I’m mainly thinking PvE here. Maybe once I get better +healing gear bobbing in and out of death shroud will net a better AoE heal, but right now it’s hitting just a tad above a single well of blood puse for me =x. Thanks for the tips though, much appreciated.
So, has anyone been able to make a decent support/healing centric build?
I know there’s a cookie cutter well spec floating around there, but I’m curious to see what other people have tried.
For example, I tried using the Major Trait Deathly Invigoration and mix it with the Soul Reaping grand master trait to weave in and out of Death Shroud for some local AoE healing.
It works in practice, except that it heals for a tiny bit above a single well of blood pulse, and it has a range of nothing.
Aside from that, I focused on the Vampiric Rituals trait, which essentially healed in the 20’s when pulsing. It also does not siphon health for minions. I don’t think it siphons health unless you are actually in the well yourself. Might suffer the same problem as Ritual of Protection where it doesn’t actually cast the protection unless you yourself are in it.
I also looked at the minor trait Death Into Life But 15 points for what essentially amounts to +70 healing is…yeah.
What other builds are out there? I’d love to find that general necro suggestion thread too…

I think so. GW2 has already garnered much more success than I think the original ever did. It’s already sold 2 million units.
Having played both, I feel like this one is much more “mmo-y” (organic) compared to the first, which essentially boiled down to being a single player game with an interactive lobby hub attached here and there. There are many features, especially pvp related, that I feel have fallen quite short in GW2 compared to GW1, but overall the game is quite solid and well polished for what it is. I miss the wide variety of class combinations, accessible/customizable guild halls, and alliances.
But hey, at least I can jump now.

Played TERA up until the release of GW2.
I was part of the original batch of focus group testers for that game back ’08. Stuck with it for a long time.
Ask me anything.
I don’t think this is a bug per se, but rather a bad wording of the skill.
Minion Master doesn’t reduce the cooldowns of your Minion Skills, just the cooldowns of your summoning minion skill.
This seems stupid to me, since the description implies that it would reduce the cooldown of my minion skills (the charge on the Golem for example) by 20%, rather than the actual SUMMONING skill.
(it would be nice if it did that, by the way)
Dark Armor Is bugged. It only gives 252 toughness while channeling.
At lower levels, it only gives me 100
The Major trait Dark Armor doesn’t actually give you 400 toughness when channeling.
It roughly gives you 100.
