It seems like there is definitely a need for it, it’d give players an additional level of control over their account security. Hopefully the feature is already there, and if it isn’t, maybe the team should consider adding it as a feature?
So, first off let me state that last night I had a log-in attempt from an unauthorized network in China and thankfully the system implemented by ArenaNet prevented the hacker from getting into my account and robbing me blind. I couldn’t be more relieved that the email authentication worked exactly as I had hoped and prevented the breach. However, this put me on my toes, as I have never shared this password with anyone and have kept my PC free of any sorts of keyloggers or unauthorized software. So, I decided to beef up my account security and download the mobile authentication as an additional security measure. When I went to go look at my security page, I noticed something strange, an authorized network in California. My first thought was, well maybe this was when I was playing on a tethered network with my brother in law, but I am not entirely certain.
In short, my question is:
Is there a way to remove networks from the “Authorized Networks” listing in Account Security?
ArenaNet is about to understand how much they angered their true fan base by selling out ideals and a promise to change gaming. I’m completely ashamed in this miscalculated judgment from ANET and I hope that you manage to retain some shell of player base. We can all put up with broken mechanics and be patient, but you just started a fire you won’t be able to put out. I recommend that tomorrow the staff sit down and review the manifesto and your golden rules, the propaganda we were fed before day 1, and reflect on how that fits with this decision. That is my suggestion.
BEFORE YOU FREAK OUT PLEASE READ***
Seems like everyone is getting bent out of shape on something we have NO wording from ArenaNet on. Please, trust in their decisions making before you jump to completely radical decisions. NOWHERE on the official page does it say anything about these being stronger than X, Y, or Z. We literally know nothing about these armor pieces, so please don’t jump to conclusions, wait for the OFFICIAL blogpost that ArenaNet said they will provide, and relax.
For those who want some sort of counterpoint to the discussions on here, take this alternative perspective for thought:
“Introducing Ascended items, artifacts of great power that can be improved by a special new type of upgrade called Infusions, which can be found in dungeons. Look for more information about Ascended gear soon!”
This to me sounds like these new ascended armors might be limited to the dungeon and the dungeon continues to get progressively harder perhaps requiring the upgrading of the armor itself to tackle the harder levels of the dungeon as it continues to grow. Perhaps this armor might be only useful against these Karka much like infused armor was only useful against the Mursaat. Perhaps, they’re introducing a sort of gear treadmill in one place for people that want a gear treadmill. IE – In a dungeon.

Interesting, and thank you. I think we’ve resolved this just between the two of us!
Thanks for your help.
For anyone that might be reading…
Let’s assume that the recharge rate is 1 count per second. For this example, lets consider Virtue of Courage, which has a 90 second recharge, IE – it takes 90 counts to recharge. When you consider Virtue Recharge Rate at 30%…
Recharge Rate = 1.3 counts per sec
Virtue of Courage = 90 counts to recharge
Duration of Recharge = 90 / 1.3 counts per second = ~69 sec
(This essentially means you are 30% more effective per unit time)
While messing around with the Virtues tree for the Guardian class, I noticed some issues regarding the actual math behind the virtues themselves. It appears as though the calculation behind the Virtue recharge is either broken, or intentionally being diminished. I’ve included the math involved so you can see I’m not just complaining to complain. ANET, could you please provide some sort of response, is this actually a bug, or is this intentional?
Example – Virtues = 30 = 30% Virtue Recharge Rate
Virtue of Courage = 90 sec recharge.
Virtue of Courage with Virtue Recharge Rate = 90 * (100%-30%) = 90 * 70% = 63 sec
So I have assumed that my recharge would be 63 sec according to my basic understanding of mathematics. However, as you can see in the photo attached, which includes all the pertinent information, the recharge rate is actually 69 seconds. (Photo shows 68, but I couldn’t capture fast enough) It turns out that 30% Virtue Recharge Rate is “actually” 23.33%. Once again, ANET, please explain.
We’ve currently expanded our recruiting to include new players to the guild outside of merging. We currently are at approximately 40 members and growing very fast! We’d love for people to become part of our community and engage in the atmosphere we aim to create. Come check us out and register at http://www.primevaldynasty.enjin.com
We also are looking for members to join our guild and become part of this wonderful community!
Could always use more cowbell. Make sure to get at us if you are interested in this wonderful opportunity!
Are you the leader or member of a small guild on your server and struggling to put together groups to participate in WvW or other events? Are you losing members to larger guilds that only consider you a number? I would like to extend an offer to become part of a great community on Crystal Desert and retain your leadership and representation within our guild. Primeval Dynasty [pDyn] is a newly created guild thats primary objective is to provide a safehaven for smaller guilds that wish to persist longterm throughout GW2, but not be acquired by larger guilds that do not care about their representation in guild decisions. We provide something that other guilds simply don’t, a system that works for the longterm and is built from the ground up to provide true democracy in guild matters. All we ask is mutual respect among our membership and leadership.
[HOW DOES IT WORK?]
Should you decide that you would like to become part of our community, we will provide leadership positions on our council, in which you will have a vested stake in the interest of the collaborative guild. Primeval Dynasty [pDyn] operates on a very simple majority vote basis for our council members, in which we vote on matters pertaining to the guild, and come to a consensus based on the information at hand and the impact on our guild. We encourage guilds to become part of the community we offer and are more than willing to share the community that we have been building and creating. Most importantly, this is a true merger, its not an acquisition like what other guilds will offer. Primeval Dynasty is built to allow incoming guilds to have representation in our guild affairs and become an important part of our democratic process.
[HOW DO YOU JOIN?]
Get in contact with one of our current council members and express your interest in becoming part of our organization. The best way to get in touch with us and see if we might be a good fit for you is to either PM or mail (in-game) any of the following individuals: Vincent Von Demetri, Lord Griff of Nix, Dravirex, or Vehzz. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have and also create an opportunity for you to voice your thoughts in a private channel on our Teamspeak server. Why wait? Get in touch with us today.
In short, if your guild is currently considering a merger to boost activity and provide a solid player base, don’t settle for the other options presented out there. There is a distinct difference between an acquisition and a merger, here at Primeval Dynasty, we want you to become a part of our team, and we want you to feel at home from day one. We actually value our players, we want you to become part of our family. We’re only missing one thing… MORE COWBELL!

Knudge,
I’m not entirely what is day / night for you, but my guild, The Battousai, might be of interest to you if you are EST? You can look up our information here on the forums. Particularly, we are a rather tight knit community making the transition from GW1 to GW2 with some of our players have playtimes in the upwards of 3000-6000 hrs. We are in this for the long haul, and you can form some long term friendships and bonds with our players to carry throughout your GW2 experience and onto the many other games our players play. We are all about having a good time and enjoying the game and just from reading your post, it seems like you’re the same way. We would love to have you as part of our community, let me know if there’s any questions I can answer!
Neko,
If you are on Crystal Desert, or willing to make the move over, you should consider joining The Battousai. You can surely look around here on the forums and find more information about us, but I personally think you would make a great fit in our community as our playerbase is currently expanding and we have a diverse level structure, with many people playing alternate characters, or just working their main character towards 80. We also have some other guilds that we frequently run with, so you wouldn’t have too much trouble finding things to do. Most importantly, we are all relaxed and love to have a good time. No imposed rules, just good ol’ fashioned gaming fun. Let me know if you are interested!
I read through your current guild information and I think that there are some fundamental differences in our ideology regarding the guild participation and requirements mainly. Our guild is a very mature guild of young professionals and adults. Likewise, we put responsibility on individuals to remain active in the game and do not impose requirements on how they play the game. I think this could be something that might be a fundamental problem in a merger. However, if you are truly looking to collaborate and form a merge in some way, shape, or form, perhaps we can work beyond those things. Maybe we should get in touch at some point and chat or something?
What server are you on? Or does that not matter to you?
Makes you wonder what ever happened to the philosophy “When it’s ready!” huh?
Let me first start off by saying, I am glad to see that the developer’s are taking an active approach in combating gold farmers, however I don’t know if the current DR system is the answer. Primarily, I think that the problem with “Diminishing Returns” is that it isn’t “Diminishing” its “Disappearing”. But, that’s neither here nor there. The developers will have to face the consequences of inappropriate punishment to players on looting.
I am here to discuss what I think might be a bug with the current system, as I can’t imagine this isn’t a bug. So I get home from work today, excited to try out the new and improved DR system and see what it is fully capable of, and was utterly disappointed. Here is at least a log of what exactly happened.
Myself and two others went out to the Cursed Shore to kill some Risen / Orrian Weapons and collect some loot. Particularly around the area of the Temple of Grenth, a common area for high level players. We each pay ~ 4s or so to port there and play for about an hour and a half. We eventually get to the point where we start to get NO loot, and eventually, a message starts appearing that says something along the lines of “This event has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later.” whenever we kill a monster. So, we figured, let’s at least test the DR system and see when it decides players can earn loot again. We continued playing for another hour and received NO drops. Not for an hour.
I have to imagine that ArenaNet’s intent isn’t to punish legitimate players. However, after two and a half hours of play, myself and the others walked away with about 40s after selling everything. Could you please let me know, is this the intent of the new DR system? And if so, why?
