Perfect sound pre-Lost Shores, now static

I have always had perfect sound in GW2 (on all settings). During Halloween, I had a little bit of static during large fights, but I would bump down the settings and it was fine. After Halloween, it was inconsistent, where I could just change the setting and the sound would reload (assumption) and be perfect again. After Lost Shores, my sound has a consistent static in the background.

This is not my speakers, only my headset, and does not happen on any other game (or music player). I tested with multiple headsets as well, and it happens across all of them.

At a few points, during the Lost Shores finale, I had my sound completely cut out, and leave a high pitch wailing until I restarted GW2; which case, sound was fine again.

Loved it all except for the second reinforcement. I believe it could have used something special to differentiate it more from the first reinforcement. And the loot was terrible, to be honest (this coming from a person who is generally not a nag about loot).

I also wish these cool skins and event items had slightly more common ways to obtain them. That’s my favorite aspect of special events, and it seems the only chance I have is if I dump a lot of cash into the gem store since I seem to have the worst luck at these random drop event things (and I play a lot!).

But yes, the event itself was great. My favorite parts were definitely the innovative ways of utilizing the environment to progress.

Please bring back extended camera zoom option

I’d like to note that I decided to give this its own thread because the old thread with previous about this topic was about disliking the extended camera zoom option. To the contrary, this is about love and longing for the return of the extended camera zoom option.

One of the only things I’m disappointed in with GW2 is the limitations on Camera Zoom. Indeed, during most combat, it is perfect. However, there are many extremely large scale and lovely epic battles where I can’t really tell what’s going on. Sometimes you just see a mass cluster of character animations and colour effects that restrict my attempts to participate to the best of my ability, or I can’t fully enjoy these great battles visually, because the camera is so close to all the action. Additionally, there are some truly wonderful landscapes, some of the best environments in a video game, in my opinion, and sometimes when you’re running around with friends you wish you could better view and indulge in this wonderful scenery.

During Halloween, the camera zoom was extended and I found myself completely elated. This was absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t stop sharing my excitement with guildmates. I could see during full-scale battles better and it was so much easier to enjoy the visuals of a gorgeous environment.

To my great misfortune, after the Halloween event the camera zoom returned to normal, and I was rather heartbroken; I have felt completely restricted since.

I know some people complain that the zoom is unnecessarily far, but I would like to offer the suggestion that there be a box in the Options Menu where users can choose whether or not to enable the Extended Camera view. This way, people who want that close limit for combat can keep themselves restricted while those who would like to enjoy a far more vast landscape can choose to enable this option.

I know it may be of little importance to some players, but nothing would make my already terrific GW2 experience better than this.

I even signed up on these threads only to show my appreciation for this when it was enabled.

Will pay gems for character renaming/recustomization

I created a couple characters in a rush because I wanted to reserve the names for them. I would also gladly pay 1000 gems for full re-customization (sans race/profession, of course, since that is tied to Personal Story).

On Gate of Madness, the catapult has been “temporarily disabled” since the week after launch.

The camera zooms too far out...

I actually just came on, making my first post, to suggest the opposite of our opening post. I have been playing since early access and have always wished that we had a greater distance option on the camera’s zoom. Comparing this to WoW or any other MMO is irrelevant. My reasoning is autonomous; I simply love the landscapes and environments in GW2 so much and feel that I can appreciate them better should I choose to when I can zoom the camera out twice the distance.

I was so happy when this was the case for the Halloween event!
But now it has been removed and I felt rather heartbroken.

For those who don’t like it, there could be a box in the Options menu that people can tick to turn on or off the long distance camera.

While I agree that the action oriented (and weapon swapping) combat system is one of the best aspects of GW2, and that the extended zoom isn’t the best for some your combat scenarios, I have equally found times where AOE or large dynamic battles are more enjoyable when I can zoom out further as well. Sometimes I would like to watch the entire battle happening within its environment rather than watch a bunch of characters all clumped up against a Champion, over-saturating the screen with GW2’s excellent animation.

The option to turn on extra zoom would be extraordinary, and ArenaNet has shown us that it is built in. I prefer to have the option there than not at all, and I already miss it.
