The Feature Patch is barely two weeks old, Guild Wars 2 was just launched in China, we had Easter in between.

Give the guys a break, they’ve probably been quite busy.

But they could have at least patched in that Blade Shard merchant….

First off It’s not asking a lot to receive one to three paragraphs on whats to come over the next few months. The amount of time required to perform this task is next to none compared to the amount of time and resources it takes to develop and implement said content.

Secondly there’s people who are employed at Anet where that’s one of the primary duties.

China literally just launched, we will not see an expansion for at least another year. LS in a few months. China’s launch is the focus right now, everything else is secondary.

A simple guess would be LS season 2 in about a month. Perhaps a smaller patch before then.

This comment right here is all the reason why they need to communicate. I have no problem with them focusing on the china release it just the gap in feedback were sitting in right now.

A test server is and would be a good idea, I do believe besides their internal testing they have test servers available to certain guilds. There is a process to get into these, not really sure how. If you were interested I would create a support ticket asking how; probably wont go very far, lol.

I always thought that some people (Dulfy) had access to content before it was released. If there is a test server available for certain people or Guilds, then they need to reevaluate those that have access to it because they sure as kitten aren’t doing a good job most of the time.

There is a test server and there are players on it. Those players give lots of feedback (much of it critical). In one particular instance, a dev left the test server chat channel because everyone was “being overly critical of the content”. In many other instances the devs have accused the players who dislike content or changes of “not playing it right”.

It’s not the players’ fault, it’s the fault of the devs who ignore the feedback.

I think giving constructive criticism is needed for any feedback be it game or RL. Having said that however devs are dictated how to respond to players from their prospective superiors; so it wouldn’t surprise me if a dev left a channel due to the nature of that statement

I can tell you with certainty much of the criticism was highly constructive and most followed the simple format of:
A) State problem
B) Explain why said problem is an issue
C) Give potential solution to said problem

I once saw a 6 paragraph post about the issues concerning WvW match-up/population imbalances with an ANet dev response that simply said “Nope”.

Ya i believe it, this game never had a very widely known test server environment.

I agree with the content coming out buggy and glitchy kind of deters from the play.

A test server of sorts would get help with bugs and glitches, but then again, since the content is so small, for lack of a better word, it would make doing it again for many players tedious after being on said test server.

Maybe i’ts just me that feels that way. I personally dislike redoing the LS content. For me, its because I know what the end reward is, and for me, it’s not worth doing on multiple characters. If there was a choice of various items that were worth it, I would.

I agree that the end rewards need to be better. Like LS specific armor and weapon skins. They have offered those in the past but only via gems. It would be cool if they made those rewards obtainable through LS objectives.

I think this is how it should be. Instead of every 2 weeks we should have content updates just once every month. The current trend is far to buggy and unfinished. No mmo should do it this often. And also switch to permanent new content and completely abolish all temporary content please.

That is what they sacrificed when implementing content in a 2 week cadence. I think Season 2 should be better in that respect. We shall see.

Honestly? I’m so deliriously happy that there ISN’T new content in the game for a while. It’s such a nice breather to just enjoy the game and not worry about being behind in some Living Story reward track or what not. Finally, I can sit back and enjoy the game.

Dunno’ if I’m a minority here, but I just feel like there’s so much I can do to refine my abilities as a player.

I think this statement would be true if it were still LS season 1. Season 2 is “suppose” to be different in terms of cadence delivery what will part of each patch to prevent people from feeling left behind; because they have stated these things is why many of us have requested that they publish something to let us know to sit tight for “x” amount of time.

I think many of you are right; we probably wont see anything new till after the china release. Also we probably won’t see any info; at this point their probably just going to spring the patch on us.

This thread was more a less a test to hear everyone’s concerns and comments; by the positive and at sometimes critical feedback it seems many are feeling similar to the way i am feeling. My other goal was to have the majority of our concerns heard and fielded by ANET, but i doubt this thread will receive any such treatment, although i expect 70% of threads to receive no such response.

They are getting ready to release GW2 in probably the largest market in the world. I am sure big stuff will be coming in time. Learn to be patient and life will be so much more enjoyable.

So im the only one that would like a, “state of the game” update? I find it humourous that some think im asking for this monumental thing, lol

In other mmos people have to wait 6 months to a year before new content is being released. Here people freak out when they go 2 weeks without new content/features.

If compare it like that we didn’t get any new content ever.
So we wait for over 2 years now………….

I am sure people are patient……… they just want a freaking word
from A-Net about the future of the game.

Like he said… they dont expect a date or even detailed answers.
“Just something like new contend is planned for summer”
or
“We won’t have any new contend until winter just a new armor here and there”

And i agree this is minimum information A-Net should share with this awesome fanbase

You Sir totally got what I was saying. Not that others haven’t in this thread. There have been many who have understood. But ya minimalistic info is all.

Well kitten me, I may not be the brightest bulb of the bunch but even I can see that you can’t consider LS as content…

In all fairness, by this very logic, a game you missed out on and cannot obtain again isn’t a game. A book that has fallen out of print before you could obtain a copy is not a book. A TV show that no channel can be bothered to rerun is not a TV show (this would absolutely kill soap operas).

It’s like saying the Eiffel Tower doesn’t exist if you haven’t seen it with your own eyes as opposed to though other media.

Not really. Something which once existed but no longer does is best described with the verb, “was,” or, “were,” rather than, “is,” or, “are.”

Aspects of the LS were content. They no longer are. “Content,” is something that is currently contained by the container. GW2 is the container but it no longer contains certain things and so those things are no longer among its content.

The Eiffel Tower, “is,” currently in existence.
A TV show that no longer exists, “was,” a TV show, but no longer, “is.”
A book that no longer exists, “was,” a book, but no longer, “is.”
A game that no longer exists, “was,” a game.

100% Agreed. :-)

Seriously don’t complain, PvE is great right now. If you want to complain head to the WvW forums :P

I would agree with this statement if we had more things to do. I understand they need time in between stories, however this is the mistake they made by having temporary content when they take breaks the the game itself “reverts” lack of a better word and we’re left with to be desired for content.

Also don’t miss-interpret my statement as this game doesn’t have a variety of things to do, because it does. What I mean is newer “permanent” things to do.

For all you commentators out there getting tangled up in the “is it or isnt it content” I think some are missing the point many are making.

Is LS content? yes it is content, however its primarily temporary content. What many of us are saying is we want more permanent content. Also like others have stated Temporary content “WAS” content and it isn’t anymore. Once content is removed to classify it as content in the present tense makes no sense at all.

Also before anyone beats me to it, yes I know more and more content is becoming permanent. Once Season 2 story launches I and many others hope for 90% permanent content. They have stated that they are changing it up for story season 2, so I would hope they would concentrate on the number one requested topic, that being permanent content

This article was published a year ago in July…

I think that was the whole point. ANet provided this to us a year ago, in July, as you stated, and, if you actually read the article, you’ll see what was meant by it.

Dangling that carrot is always amusing to them.

Edit: Flytrap beat me to it.

This article was published a year ago in July

Did you even read it? That’s the point.

It’s a classic example of ANet using their carrot-on-a-stick tactic – making grand statements about what the future holds for Guild Wars 2 and then inevitably having it all fall through.

We need less blogs posts like the one above because they’re essentially false advertising.

I did read these posts and I have read others in the past. These posts are meant to be read as, “this is what we are working on.” Though some of what was published wasn’t implemented a lot of it was. Also since then they have revised their statements and such their “state of the game” posts have been better.

Prior to the Feature Patch around the end of the Season One LS, Colin and few others stated that their would be a “state of the game” article shortly after the Feature Patch and LS One.

Um, are you paying a monthly fee for this game? no? where’s the problem?

They just worked their kitten off finalizing the LS and the feature pack, and you want moar now?

I never diminished the Feature Pack. Great things came from it that were needed, however the patch was all Features. I simply mean it would be nice to hear from them at some point when we can expect more content. Maybe it’s just me, but i would like to put the feature to use with more content.

It was new content at the time we played it. Simply because it’s not around now doesn’t discount that it was new content when it was around. How would you be able to tell stories about the destruction of Lion’s Arch if the content was permanent? Lion’s Arch is either intact, destroyed or being rebuilt. You can’t do that with fixed content.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however though you are right that it was new content there a a handful of ways they could keep the content in the game and still retain the essence of the story. All of the content could have easily stayed without effecting the story.

The biggest point you are missing though is if they intended to have LS story content be permanent they would have developed in a way that would be easier to have stay than it already was. Having temporary content was on purpose and was a definite executive decision. If you are an avid forum reader you’ll notice that they started their CD (Collaborative Dev) forums several months back. This was impart due to the large portion of their player-base pushing back on them for communication and also the biggest reason was the player-base was getting tired of temporary content.

Before anyone corrects me yes since then more and more content has been permanent so I will give them with every patch they are going in a step in the right direction. Having said all of this and with being a broken-record the communication needs to happen quicker and more often. No matter everyone’s opinion the larger portion of the player-base would welcome communication on a more consistent basis

open ur eyes there is so much new content all the time, I never had a game which offered me so much. i played wow and wow had no content in compare to gw2

and people who say gw2 dont has content wich stays…. what has wow ?

OK lich king stays but can u expierence him like other did while u be lv 90 now? u solo him all wow content is temporeary . every zone is a ghost town after a new patch in wow. GW2 is vivid every where since the megaserver.

Im super happy with the rate of content and i have a legendary could have a second one have 10 chars.

there is so much to do to even master a class needs so long that i still can learn new things about my main.

If you are not being sarcastic where is this content u speak of?? There has been only one new dungeon path since release, only 1-3 fractal paths since release, one new zone. You can’t really justify LS content being actual content because it doesn’t stay.

This brings me to my original point, of which I have stated it several times in this thread. I am not arguing that wont be more permanent content or there hasn’t been permanent content. There has and more than likely as time progresses there will be. I’m simply stating where is this communication from Anet? I find it really hard to believe as an avid player you never ever want communication from them.

At the end of the day Anet is a business and the number one thing a business especially a game developer has to think about is business to player communication and though I can understand mystery and secrecy; they are pushing silence a little too much for my taste.

I think a really good idea for them is to have at least quarterly “state of the game” updates.

You miss interpret, the point of my comment was to inquire about a “state of the game” status article. In regards to your other comment your right other games may or may not have to wait that long, but guess what they also receive communication on what’s coming. I’d like to point that I am not saying we do not also receive that communication because we have.

All I am saying is that it has been weeks if not months since we have received any such communication and as an avid player since launch an update on what’s happening with the game is perfectly reasonable.

So were coming on two weeks after feature patch

They spent four weeks building up to the Feature Pack. Another two isn’t going to kill you.

That was for the feature patch, totally seperate circumstance. Content patch is different, its been about seven or so weeks since the last content patch. I understand it takes time.to develop stuff, which is the exact reason we should be getting some form of update as to what the status is. I’m not even suggesting a date, all im saying is a state of the game update would be nice just so we know whats coming.

Dragons
Guild Wars 2 has a dragon on the box cover. The primary motivation for players on their 80-level journey is to kill a dragon. So yeah, giant, winged beasts are a part of Tyria, they’re core to the game, and we haven’t forgotten about them. That stated, I can’t say when we’ll return to them—only that we will. There is a plan in place.

It has been suggested bringing the story back to the dragons. It has also been stated several days ago that there are plans to return to dragons at some point in the future. Considering at least in my opinion the Elder Dragons house the most impressive stories in the GW universe; I find it a little odd to deviate from or choose not to tie the story arc into at least one or more elder dragons.

I have my own hypothesis of the current Scarlet arc; which is to say I think based on where we have been taken to they could easily create Elder Dragon tie-ins have they not already done so via un-revealed conclusions.

I won’t beat the proverbial dead horse too long ( or in Tyria terms, “beat the dead centaur”), but I also agree the story arc has taken too long to reach its conclusions thus player base frustrations. I understand one of Guild Wars 2’s goals was to be innovative and new; with this being said it would be great to hear from the team as to why scarlet was chosen as an arc when at your fingertips are the Elder-Dragons?? You can still create innovation using lore from the Guild Wars universe.

Like I said above I have my own suspicions and hunches; which is really me just crossing my fingers and hoping for an Elder-Dragon tie in at the end of the scarlet arc. I also understand specifics can’t be discussed and divulged, but maybe it could be discussed upon a little further?

I think myself and many others would love to hear the reasoning’s behind the decision to opt for a new “villain” rather than utilizing the Elder-Dragons for GW2’s first story arc. I would also like to clarify I tried to be mindful of my post and I hope it doesn’t come off as a demand

It really disappoints me that ArenaNet doesn’t feel its necessary to respond to this thread. If they intended to make this path so that if the group wipes they have to deal with 50 spiders then they should post in this thread; i seriously doubt that this was intended though.

This path is obviously causing many issues it would be nice to see a dev response. I understand they can’t / won’t respond to every thread. This is a perfect opportunity for them to respond to their player-base

You must be new here. Anet doesn’t post in the dungeon forums anymore, probably because there is no dungeon team. There are also billions of TAFU threads that everyone completely ignores, even though they have all been replied to.

Yes I know this; hence my point. Its really irritating that they would decide to just completely ignore one of the biggest parts of the game.

Apparently all the casuals are into open world and temporary fad content. I’m not expecting much for dungeons in the future.

Yeah i know they focus most of their content towards open-world casual player stuff but why even put dungeons in the game if they aren’t willing to support them. For instance with this particular dungeon path; they should have bug fixed it on their next most recent patch.

The whole reason why they changed this path was to prevent the player-base from ranging at the door hence why they made the tree auto-rez and have spiders spawn in large quantities. I don’t even care if they leave the mechanic as is and just ad a despawn mechanic to the path so if the group wipes the spiders despawn. Forcing the group to reset the entire instance is just plain lazy programming

My Budget is between 800-1100. I know gaming laptops aren’t great alternatives to desktops, but i need a laptop for traveling and would like to play gw2 like on medium settings.

I’m also trying to keep in my mind the thickness and weight. I don’t want it too be to heavy or thick

I was looking at the Lenovo Y500 for 999, but was wondering if maybe i could get away with something different that maybe since i only need medium setting the y500 could be overkill.

Can anyone help me out?
