You already own the game. Try it out? There is no subscription fee, so what’s stopping you from just playing along for a while to see if you like it?

All my favs are sylvari…

I’m pretty sure you could’ve put a human character in that armor and nobody would be able to tell the difference :P

I… actually created my own sylvari just today. And I’m already a bit frustrated by the lack of really fitting armor, can’t wait to hit 35 to get the first tier of salad dresses D:

Sounds very Asuran to me. I do like the title. Approved, 10/10!

My Asura Guardian is named “Zhangrib”.

This thread in general might help you quite a bit – it certainly helped me.

I personally have to say that I didn’t like the staff until around level 40-ish. It’s general damage is rather low and the conditions don’t do all that much either, without sufficient trait points in the relevant tree (forgot it’s name ;X).

I ran with a greatsword as my main weapon and a sword/focus as secondary, which worked rather well. The focus adds mobility, the sword is a good close range weapon (although it takes some getting used to, since a Mesmer isn’t exactly known to survive many melee hits) and the greatsword provides a decent mix of long range capabilities, AoE Damage and knockback.

Once I reached level 40 (and put 20 points into the condition damage tree) I switched from those two weapons to the staff and a scepter instead of the sword. Been running with that ever since and it works great.

Thanks for this guide. As someone who just started playing again (I played a Mesmer on release, but quickly became frustrated by it and stopped in favor of other classes, until I got bored with the game and left completely) it’s really helpful to read through these suggestions.

Cerosi… I’m not quite sure about that one, sounds a little ‘soft’ to me, if that makes sense. I do like Steelfang though and together it does look like a Charr name, just not one I would choose. All in all a solid eight out of ten, I’d say!

My recently created furball is named “Stern Ironhorn”. Warrior, Iron Legion, Horn Warband.
