@ olTThreelo You’re absolutely right, I play GW not lots of other games. I’m just saying that this specific company that makes the specific game we’re talking about hasn’t given poor value for money yet.
@Xeo As I said there will always be some people who end up the wrong side of the price/product change, type /age and see what your money has been worth.
Like I said and many others said on other threads, the group I’m in are in the worst situation (full price for ~month and now another $50 straight up).
I agree but do you think that all this noise on the forums is created by people in your position? (This is why I asked the question in my first post) I think you have a right to be irritated but this gigantic uproar is not from people like you, its from humans who like to feel they are doing something (anything) with fervor. They are being overdramatic and thats all I was posting about.
Sorry if I did go off track, imo vets aren’t entirely entitled the way I see it now and the complaints are mostly valid in terms of the FAQ deception.
It’s when people try to twist the issues to either white knight or show how its more their problem than anyone else’s that is wrong.

Players that bought the game less than a month ago can claim refunds. For those that have played for little over a month, I agree, it sucks.
But we payed $50 to play the game for 3 years, now we’re paying another $50 to play for 3 more years.
New players are therefore also only paying for the next 3 years. It should not be seen as base + expac, but rather …new base.
So by that logic I pay $40 for 1 month and then another $50 for 3 years?
And vets on the other hand paid ~$50 for 3 years and another $50 for ~3 years?
Lest We Forget
You miss the point where new players pay $50 for core + xpac and existing players pay $50 for just xpac, some of us have only played for just over a month and been misled with false advertising regardless.
Lest We Forget
I for one did not buy the core/base game 2 weeks ago, I bought it a month and a half ago under the impression (fact) that I needed the core/base game for the expansion. This was with no warning this ‘bundle’ would happen. False Advertising
A shampoo buy one get one free does not compare to this, it’s like more like having a permanent shampoo that now comes with a permanent conditioner…

I have owned the game for 1 & 1/2 months, I asked for a refund (ticket was sent) due to the change in FAQ which originally gave me belief I needed the core game for HoT.
THEY basically ignored the fact THEY had mislead me and many others to buy the game (some paid $10, I paid $40) by changing the FAQ.
The result is basically they have ripped me and many others off, and essentially told me they won’t do anything about my situation.
Thanks for being the bigger man and looking after your customers Anet.

And for those that are saying they just recently bought the game and feel shafted now… If you already knew an expansion was coming out, surely you knew you were going to be paying for it? The game is still months away, and the fact that they mention ahead of time that it’s including the base game is beneficial to players coming in from here on out. Sucks that your timing was bad, but that is not Anet’s fault. You are just in the same boat as ever veteran that adopted the game long ago, and were also ready to pay for an expansion.
Did the FAQ change after pre-purchase release not occur to you?

I’m pretty sure Angry Joe will have something to say about this, but give them time, most of them are covering E3.
I can’t wait for that moment, if it does happen, it will be legendary.

And they said they will compensate users within a specific time frame. Stop hating.
No, they didn’t.
1. Their timeframe is one month only (while the info and sales tied to it started from the very beginning of this year).
2. To get compensated you need to contact support on your own (which many people who do not read these forums will not know – Anet doesn’t exactly advertise this fact).
3. Anet would compensate only those people that bought the game directly from them. Many people did that through intermediaries (i.e. Amazon, or game shops), and those will not get an option of upgrading to HoT. At best (if they bought really recently, but see point 1) they might be able to return the game and cancel the sale, but it would mean getting their account closed and starting from zero.In short, Anet" compensation" offer is not really worth that much.
Even though I don’t meet the time frame, and they could still offer me a refund (which I doubt). This is exactly how I feel.

It’s not directly about the FAQ change, it’s about the result of the FAQ change, and for many of us basically being ripped off.
Yes. Yes it is. Which is barely even related to updating the FAQ so people reading it now and in the future don’t get mislead.
Like said by others you can twist the FAQ situation anyway you want, and you are entitled to your own opinion, but it doesn’t change the fact that some of us were cheated.
Why don’t you contact support and let us know how that goes. Their only a click away.
I’m at the point of waiting, but I have received the badly worded explanation about “trying to get new players into the game”. I have had the game (cost me $40 USD) for a month and a half, and have been mislead by the FAQ, dont tell me you wouldn’t feel the same?

Paypal all the way, you can add funds from your bank or credit card if you do get one in future, it is also the safest way to pay on the internet imo.
Lest We Forget
It’s still so hard to believe that Anet went out of their way just to change the FAQ.

Send in a support ticket maybe. I’ve heard that some people who purchased the game within the last 30 days gets a refund/upgrade to the Standard. I don’t think it hurts to send in a ticket.
It has been a month and a half since I bought the core and would’t really like to restart my account over something that I couldn’t control, and was cheated of. The change to the FAQ really hit buyers hard, I can’t stress this enough.
Lest We Forget
If you guys need to know I paid $40 USD for the core which was ~$52 AUD. I’m not asking for the expansion 100% free because I didn’t pay $50 USD for the core, this indicates that we should get the expansion, in the case nothing is added to it, for a discount of what we payed solely on the basis the FAQ was contradicted.
Lest We Forget
Whatever your point is, I don’t see ArenaNet giving away Heart of Thorns to purchasers who paid only $10 or $20 dollars for the core game.
You may suggest some kind of remuneration, but it won’t be a free expansion.
This is a good point, but it doesn’t change the fact that the group I’m referring to was basically ripped off by Anet.
Lest We Forget
Some of us (including me and my brother) didn’t get the game for $10, my point is that if the FAQ wasn’t subject to contradictions and change, many newish players would be happier to know that they got their moneys worth, but that is not the case.
Lest We Forget
Even for the vets in terms of fairness, I don’t understand how Anet didn’t see this all coming?
Lest We Forget
For everyone that bought an account between the time HoT was announced and the time HoT pre-purchase was available, I’m sure most of us were under the impression that we needed the core game to then own HoT due to the FAQ for HoT. This is the reason we bought the core game.
Since HoT pre-purchase was available, the FAQ was changed to clean up contradictions and to invite new players to the GW2 community, but as the past day has been seen by many on the forums, this decision came at a cost.
I am just wondering why the group of people that bought accounts between the time HoT was announced and the time HoT pre-purchase was available have not been offered HoT. Is this not an understandable and fair claim?
It’s actually not too late for Anet to turn around and fix this problem, are they not able to force refund all purchases since HoT pre-purchase was available and rework the situation? I expected better from this company above all others and would like them to prove me wrong if I say, they are as sleazy and cheap as all the other MMO companies out there.

The biggest issue for a big group is that I and everyone who bought the core game between the time HoT was announced and now were basically ripped off.
Anet edited the FAQ, as if that wouldn’t add fuel to the fire.
We didn’t get to enjoy all the things vets did and no free LW content, and now we have to pay for little content compared to the full game as if we are re-buying GW2.

It is NOT the price that bothers me.
It is NOT the fact new players are welcomed by discount.
It is the FACT that I bought the game about a month ago, I bought it in preparation for HoT release. And now I have to pay again, for about the same price where I and the rest of GW2 community could have had.
It is hilarious that the FAQ had to be changed to state that HoT now includes GW2 free.
I was so excited to go on and buy HoT, but then I saw what disappointed me as much as many others. I thought this company had something different in terms of MMOs, I really hope anet ups their game and realises what they have done.
