I think 40-45% is fine, if u have high critical damage use precision stacks
glyph of storms doesn’t worth to use atm, low damage, nice conditions but way too long cooldown
an example with your armor can be celestial rings + amulet and not celestial accessories (maybe berserkers). This is a good way to use celestials and still be offensive
Hi, I’m very exeprienced with builds and have like every ascended kind of trinkets. First thing: if u need critical damage, get it from trinkets and not from armor/weapons if u aim best effectivness of items. Second thing: the more celestials you equip, less power you have. So having all celestial gear means that you will have very low base damage (ignoring condition damage). New celestial armor is very stat-effective too.
As conclusion, try to stay on 1900+ power using all celestials you can, remember that you have foods to help you with that.
I’m not gonna say that ele is fine the way it is now, but Ele is the class that scales most with player skill. When you meet an ele in wvw it can be the esiest kill ever or a nightmare. DD didn’t lost his figthing power, maybe lost some of his roaming mobility, but brings so much support, disruption, cc, and nice damage on a fight. And is still one of the hardest challenge on 1v1. S/D is a new way to play it, loses some of the dd boon based survivability, giving more dps and versatility with his hybrid range. Staff is on a good way now, still needs some love yes, I’m trying it these days and I’m starting to like it, maybe I will do a vid with it later… Focus, still don’t fit in any build to me, needs rework.
At the end, saying that ele is unplayable is ridicolous, saying it is underpowered, I don’t think, ele is just hard to master: there is no easy-win-button, easy combo or easy mechanic to use (like stealth). But this is why I like it
We need work on weapon sets (new ones), utility spells and traits to make new builds available.

1) celestials
from a math point of view, celestials are very effective. Elementalist takes advantage from it because every stat scales with any build. So, as long as u balance ur stats as u desire, most celestials u use moste effective u are. But having all celestials brings ur power very low that’s why I will never go full celestials
2) your build
I think you are missing one important thing: healing power. One good thing of the ele is his sustain, with his healing tools (water spells, water switch, evasive and so on). U are not a tank, you need some sustain to survive battle and support ur team. About thieves, as staff and with no healing it’s not a surprise that they kill you, my build is a S/D build with many melee range tools to deal with a thief (+ GoEP conditions).
U should consider getting some healing power in your build, celestials could help.
3) bleeding
dunno about it, maybe bleed scaling is not that high
4)signet of air
It looks like a wasted utility to me, but if u cant keep swiftness always up, u need it. I still didn’t find a way to have permanent swiftness up without glyphs as S/D or staff
looks like fresh air fix didn’t hit my build. 5 seconds-cd is perfect, lightning strike is needed to be up when air is swapped
I don’t know if it should be called burst or not. I know with a glass gear u can do much more burst, but I feel doing around 3.5k – 4k on air switch can be called burst, maybe “bursty” :P. Btw, thank you mate and keep up with your work

yes for sure: fresh air procs (5 seconds cd starts) – u swap air, cast ur istant spells and some auto attack, maybe 1-2 seconds – swap another attunement to cast something, atleast more 2 seconds. Ur Fresh Air will be ready again very very soon. Swapping air works best when u have ur lighting strike ready (and u know what? 5 seconds cd!!), it’s useless to chain swap air
Hi guys, I’m sharing my new production. It’s about small scale/different situation fights with a new S/D balanced build I’m working on.
I’m going to explain my choices, and I’d like different opinions too (please watch the video first).
Build discussion:
1) why balanced?
S/D works great with high damage/glass builds. The problem is, when u roam in small numbers and fight outnumbered, fights are long and u need to survive for long time, u need to not be an easy target for enemies, good roamers should always be hard to kill
2) Fresh Air
For me, this trait is what makes scepter viable (for WvW), that’s my point of view on why it is:
At the current state of the class, the elementalist needs to swap attunements constantly to be effective, for cooldowns and the utility they give u, sticking on an element for too long is never good.
Talking about damage and D/D, every attunement is a part of his damage rotation, u get every good thing that swapping gives u
Talking about Scepter and damaging spells, there is no synergy between attunements:
Air – good single target dps, good burst on swap
Fire – very situational aoe bomb, zero dps if u miss it
Earth – earth 2 is nice, earth autoattack stacks bleeding (do I really need it?), low dps
Water – zero dps, water 2 is slow and stucky
Fresh Air fixes all of that: u can swap an attunement, get what u need from it, and swap to air to get fast damage, continuosly.
3) Glyphs and air traits III – VIII
That’s where my decision for it came from:
Ok, new build, I have nice damage, I need to choose heal and utility spells…
Lighting Flash and Mist Form are a must for my style, I don’t care how much they nerf them (LF can still be used while stunned)
Third utility, I want something solid, something really helpful, arcane damage spells are not what I aim for, they are good for 1v1 or kind of “fair” fights, don’t help me when outnumbered, Arcane Shield and Armor Of Earth are nice but loong cooldown.
Another issue: SWIFTNESS. I need swiftness to be always up for roaming and for the mobility it gives, S/D has hybrid range (fire combo works best on close range, earth 4 and 5 requires short range and so on), so I need to go in and out fast and I need swiftness always up (I don’t have a big team stacking it for me).
About healing spells:
Signet of restoration is nice, but doesn’t help me when I get bursted
Ether renewal is my D/D choice, but it’s too risky
Solution: Glyphs
Glyph of arcane power is really strong: great uptime, strong conditions (weakness my favourite), stunbreaker and a boon, big deal.
Glyph of Elemental Harmony: solid heal with 20 seconds cd and double boon
With glyphs I can stack 1+ minutes of swiftness, 20-30 seconds of regeneration, some protection and good conditions.
4) FGS elite
Nothing much to explain here, it gives me mobility + aoe damage when my fire combo is on cd
5) Sigil of Generosity vs. Sigil of Battle
This is a hard choice, most elementalists love their sigil of battle. But conditions are a big issue and generosity (op itself) is helping me very much, sending conditions back to my enemies. I feel like I have enough damage but that’s something I’m still testing
6) Precision stacks vs Power stacks
I can’t say what’s better, maybe someone can suggest me
That’s all comes to my mind, if u have any question this is the right place.
I hope that I gave good suggestions for any wvw roamer looking for a S/D build, or just some starting idea to other kind of play.

Build is 0 30 0 20 20 glyph oriented with balanced gear, it’s subject to change everyday so I will share more informations when I have a stable one. Thank you guys!
Good gameplay. With a bit more burst, you can have a lot more pressure on your opponents, down enemes much faster thus preventing more major dmg towards your teammates and a chance to keep downing more while one or more are trying to heal the downed enemy back up. Also, try to use FGS elite instead of the elemental. Not only it serves as the best escape from zerg mechanism we ele have atm but it is also an awesome single, aeo damage elite specially in scenariors like you were in this video. Finally, don’t only use lightning flash as an escape utility, try to use it for burst combos rotations if there’s an opening. Remember Lf also deals damage and with a good burst s/d build it can deal from 2-5k of dmg. About FGS, I’m gonna give it a try in next tests. LF I know it has good damage and sometimes I use it as offensive utility, I love to combo it with firegrab: auto attack with fire for burning + start casting firegrab and LF on the target; or with classic churning earth combo… But I need to be more careful because if in a bad spot, I don’t have same survivability as DD, already happened to die for an offensive lf.

True, but mostly when you are solo or you need damage (as you can see in my solo vid). With our playstyle I have so much damage on me and so much support to the thief is needed (heals, protection, stuns and earth 3 immobilize…) that I choose to not concentrate on might stacks and fire aura (sometimes I save blasts for water or smoke field). About stomps, yes we can do better but in those fights you dont have much time to think

Yes, you are right, trat 12 is for teamplay, 11 is for solo. But looking at the video you can see that the trait used is 11, there’s no real need of correction. Main reason of the screenshot is to show stats

funniest thing is that they totally IGNORE this problem, hundreds of people post on this forum and ask to developers, and their posts disappear… This is not about balance/culling/game quality/endgame or whatever, this lag makes the game UNPLAYABLE and needs to be fixed NOW
It’s network lag, servers lag primetime, that’s it. But they seem to ignore the problem
Usually dd build is boon based, so 25 water is required or you will lose too much damage, only viable variation is 0 15 0 25 30, sry man :S
Tough/healing is your defence, you tank with sustain not with healthpool. BUT vitality is what saves you from burst damage (thief opening, mesmer shatter, quickness warrior…). Without vitality you are going to die from bursts. So, vit is less needed but u can’t totally ignore it.

The hardest part of 1v2+ fights is not to survive, because the build itself has natural survivability, the problem is to do significant damage and survive in the same time. This is the difference between skilled and not skilled ele. When enemies help each other, or have a good sustain/cc u have to do every combo correcty, perfect rotation for boons and save utilities to burst and stomp them
I’m trying something more dps oriented but still balanced, keeping 1500+ tough, and near 1500 vitality, 400 healing. But boosting up critical chance and damage. Scepter cannot be compared to dagger for solo atm :S. Works well in small group: air burst helps u downing ppl fast, and fire/earth aoe high damage on downed enemies to kill them and who is ressing. Seems to work but still testing, I will not talk about scepter anymore until I have more material
in addition: the main problem of the scepter is the lack of dps in water and earth, compared to dagger u have like no damage in water and earth 1 2 3. Dagger earth 2 has good damage, cripple and bleed; water 2 has good damage and heals. Scepter earth skills do low damage, water 1 and 2 are a joke

What fights do you find most challenging? I may have missed it in there somewhere, but I didn’t see any fights against even a single mesmer. Would like to see some skills shown against them too.
Most challenging fights are cc heavy fights (like last one in the video), where u are forced to take fast decisions and risks, and ur combos and strategies can be interrupted several times.
About mesmers, there is no real reason, I had a pair of 1v2 fights with some mesmer on but just didn’t choose them for the video. Of course the mesmer is not easy to handle, but we have our chances as elementalists. Most problems come from confusion based builds (mesm and eng), but only because confusion is not balanced in WvW atm. The good thing to be elementalist is that “u can do it” in every situation, all depends on ur preparation, experience, decisions and skill. Every fight can be an incredible victory or an epic fail
