I don’t expect every single person on a server not to attack. I expect that there will be attacks, but I want to surprise the would-be attackers. I want to run by a zerg who has no idea we’re coming. And then they will kill us, but maybe the next week they will want to join. It is not about winning or honor or peace or drama. It is about fun…and yaks.

The people who plan to attack the parade claim they want to stop this ‘abortion of a parade’ once and for all – but I’m not sure why they think culling the herd would make us quit. That’s what we want them to do, because in our deaths we are providing sacrifices to the great Bloody Beard. The dolyak trollers (trollyaks? yes. trollyaks) get lootbags and have their fun, and we have ours.

My only wish is that they would be more inventive. There are so many opportunities for hilarity here. The future videos will be boring if the Trollyaks don’t step up their game.

I have no qq. And neither should anyone else, BG TC or FA.

And now…one last score update with As the Yak Runs before I go to bed:

Ellehnia has been sitting in the bar. nursing her drink, watching Kandi do her thing – mostly getting men to buy her drinks while teasing them – when she senses someone come up behind her. She closes her eyes and prays for patience. She does not want to end up knifing someone tonight.

She spins around, ready to start shouting and finds herself face to face with Tryce. The devilish lout grins at her shocked expression. “Can I buy you a drink, babycakes?”

Ellie looks nervously around, wondering if at any moment someone will notice that there is a foreign soldier in their midst. Kandi would surely recognize him, but she was too busy schmoozing to pay her any more attention.

“You dolt.” Ellie hisses through gritted teeth and she grabs Tryce’s hand and drags him off up the stairs. “How did you even get here?”

“I snuck across the border.” Tryce’s kitten-eating grin only grew wider in the face of her annoyance. And that annoyance was wearing off pretty fast.

They were alone for the first time in months, and he was looking pretty good in his new armor. Although, she ventured to guess he might look better without it. “I guess…we should make the best of this then.”

Sometime later, Kandi stumbles up the stairs, giggling and counting the day’s takings. She walks into Ellie’s room – and what should she find but Ellie and Tryce in a very compromising situation!

“What in the HAEEEELLL is going on up in here?! Uh-uh, no you not. NO YOU ISN’T!” the drunk Kandi shakes her head, waving her finger at Tryce. “You don’t get no further until you prove you kin provide fo’ my friend. If you want some then you oughta put a KEEP on it.”

Tryce lifts an eyebrow. He loves challenges, after all. “A keep you say?”

“You know that’s right. Ellehnia is the QUEEN and she need a castle.” Kandi spouted.

“All right. I’ll get her a keep then.” Tryce said with a shrug before laying back in the bed to relax.

Ellehnia, meanwhile, is not sure whether she should be horrified or ashamed. Possibly, the best answer is: both. She hides her face inside of her hat and groans.

The next day, Ellehnia is preparing her herd for its weekly migration through the borderlands. She knows that the dangerous Aspenthirs will more than likely come for her yaks, but she has never been afraid. The only thing that worries her is that Peta is nowhere to be seen. Where could he be?

Little did Ellehnia know that while the herd is completing its migration, Tryce was plotting to take a keep in the name of love (and yaks). After her completing the migration, and with her brothers at her side, she made her way to the gates of the Fort Aspenwood garrison and found them thrown wide. Fireworks rained down from the walls, dolyaks pranced through the outer courtyard, and standing tall on the stairs was Tryce, wearing that kitten-eating grin that provoked at first irritation, then tenderness.

“Welcome home, babycakes.”

You must not have a very distinctive voice or have said anything especially interesting since I don’t remember anything you said. I’m a little disappointed. I expected you to make more of an impression. What happened to creative trolls with funky fresh ideas and cool songs/soundboards?

Then again, I don’t generally look at the teamspeak when I’m playing. I’m not sure what you were expecting in terms of excitement. We rarely use that teamspeak – mostly just to talk with our friends on other servers – and there was only a handful of us in there. Did you think we were going to be roleplaying or something?

If you want to roleplay with us that badly, then just guest on over. We’ll take you to all the hotspots and find you some friends! Dem TC girls love the bad boys, ya know? Unless you’re a girl. Although, some of us like bad girls too. We run free up in here!

Mmmm..well, and since Stawker seems to be saying there are spies among the yaks I’m just going to kick all the people who I don’t know. Including TC players, because fair is fair. We’ll just do it flash-parade style and announce it a few minutes before it happens and distribute the tonics by hand. Makes it more fun that way anyhow.

Also, I think that the yak parade SHOULD be a running gag between TC and FA. That’s hilarious.

Time for another exciting score update with…As the Yak Runs!

Peta kneels before the altar of Bloody Beard for his customary prayer. This daily ritual has always given him a sense of calm, but today he finds his inner peace being continually interrupted by flashbacks to the night before.

Peta’s eyebrow twitches as the sound of his fist smashing into his rival’s stricken face replays in his mind. He remembers the spray of blood from Tryce’s busted lip and the crunch of bones as his rival’s jaw twisted sideways. Despite himself, a crooked little smile crawls across his lips. Through all the innumerable battles that Peta has fought, he’s rarely landed a blow that gave him half as much satisfaction as punching that vain, arrogant kitten in the face.

Peta shakes his head and the feeling passes. His lips return to their usual straight, emotionless line. He stares up once again into the eyes of the doleful Bloody Beard and begins his prayer again in earnest, but instead of beseeching the god of yaks for the safety of his herd, he asks Bloody Beard to send more [LW] to his camps. After all, nothing pleases the great battle yak more than an offering of lootbags.

Tryce’s voice roars out from the army of Blackgate defenders.

“CHAAARGE!”

And just as his voice is dying off, the billowing clouds of gunpowder and fields of light clear he sees her standing across the bridge. Their eyes meet briefly, and the hard blazing look in her eye softens as they both realize what is about to happen.

The slender fingers that had pulled tight the string of her bow loosens. Peta’s eyes widen as Ellie slips past him and runs headlong into the fray. In silence, he watches as she dives into the enemy gang, and only too late remembers what his feet are for.

Then a cry of deepest anguish rises up from the battle, more heartrending than the groans of the wounded. As Peta stumbles forward into the battle, and he knows what has happened. Rage as he has never felt rises up into his throat, but still no sound comes forth. Instead, his rage is channeled into ground-splitting devastation that drives the enemies back.

As his brothers are pushed back across the bridge, Tryce falls to his knees at Ellehnia’s prone body. What has he done?

Will Peta get his vengeance? Is Ellehnia really dead? How many dolyaks would a dolyak yak if a dolyak could yak yaks?

Evening has fallen in Blackgate Borderlands, and Ellehnia and her stalwart Sylvari companion Peta are walking yaks to a recently acquired Bay Keep. The call goes out from the walls – enemies at the breach!

Ellehnia and Peta rush through the gates of the bay keep and who should they see but the gang with which the [KH] family’s most recent blood feud has been with…the dastardly [LW] gang, to whom Tryce belongs.

Ellehnia looks on with horror as her fellow coastal pirates are shot down in front of her.

Peta points across at the murderous gang and lifts an eyebrow at his friend. Despite his muteness, she understands. She has always understood him, and never more than in this moment. He is saying to her: Look, Ellehnia. Is that a man who walks yaks? Or a man who kills yaks?

Didn’t read that last post because it looked like a word problem and I don’t do maths.

What’s with TC being all nice in this thread. Where’s the yak-death fueled hate, where’s the grudges.

We turned our yak fueled hate into more profitable things than qq: parody songs and multi-tier events. By raining on the parade, FA only ensured that it would become more popular and propel us further. People join us now just because they want to do the parade. It gets PVEers more interested in doing WvW. If the parade got crashed again, it would probably enflame our dormant contingency of casual players. So far as I can tell, the yak parade did TC nothing but good.

The sun is finally setting across Tarnished Coast’s battle-ravaged borderlands, and after a long day of fighting, Ellehnia and Peta find time for a momentary rest.

With the battles over and the borderlands reclaimed, Ellehnia’s facade of strong, brave piratey-ness finally crumbles and she cries on the shoulder of her best friend. Ellehnia is starting to wonder if her cross-server yak affair is real or an unachievable dream for battle hardened warriors.

Her silent and mysterious Sylvari companion has always been her greatest comfort in the mistwar. Sure, Tryce is a devilishly handsome and smooth-voiced bad boy, but is he the one she really wants to walk yaks with?

Ellehnia, a good sweet girl from the Coast, and Tryce, a bad boy from Blackgate met one fateful day on Crystal Desert and were united by their love of dolyaks.

Torn apart by the ebb and flow of the mistwar and their familial obligations, the starcrossed yak walkers somehow found themselves on opposite sides of the great battle.

He tried to sneak into the TC spawn on FABL to meet with her, and was slaughtered by her kinfolk.

She tried to meet with him for a secret tryst at Hills in TCBL and was brutally shot down by his kinfolk.

Will they ever be able to reunite? Or will Ellehnia find solace in her best friend and fellow yak walker, Peta? Only Bloody Beard knows.

Lol I’m sorry but I have to say this. As an ex-Darkhaven player (I came to FA because it was my original server from launch, but went to Darkhaven for a few months because my friend wanted me to play on that server) I cant wait to face two specific Blackgate guilds.

[iCoa] Let me tell you their history.Darkhaven was beating NSP. One of the biggest guilds on NSP bandwagons over to Darkhaven, then they merge with other guilds on Darkhaven to make [iCoa] they mass recruit on Darkhaven and then a loss or two, and they bandwagon to Blackgate after recruiting a large amount of the WvW population from Darkhaven. I have no respect for this guild as it is one of the reasons Darkhaven is dead.

[GoF] Yet another ex-Darkhaven guild. They are unorganized zergs of 40+ that went from Darkhaven to CD. They were on CD a few weeks, and bandwagoned to Blackgate after CD lost ONE time. No specific hate for this guild as they seem like a good community, but server hopping to CD and then hopping off to a tier 1 server after 1 loss on CD is a bit…..lame.

These are the only 2 major guilds of Blackgate I know. No disrespect to Blackgate itself, obviously you guys have original guilds and such, but there cant be too much server pride existent, seeing as many of the guilds there came from other servers.

Uh, sir, I have a problem. GoF came to CD and was one of the last to leave, it wasn’t “1 loss” that caused it, there was a lot of drama and a domino effect of guilds leaving. I also don’t think that if they wanted to bandwagon, that they would come to Blackgate. If they wanted to bandwagon for free wins, JQ would have been a better choice.

EDIT: Also, the VERY FIRST week on CD for them was a loss, and I believe we lost a few times after that too. So…

Oh, Appeased. Don’t feed the trolls. I understand your frustration with people who have no clue saying stuff that isn’t accurate or fair, but trying to correct them will do nothing. They have their own (delusional) ideas of how stuff happened, and there’s nothing you or I or anyone else can do to change their minds.

However, I admit to a crush on Sir Tryce of [LW]. His naked dolyak parade escorts and dulcet tones simply cannot be topped.

I thought in the end the Herd ran into the SBI spawn and got killed by SBI? I couldn’t really keep track after I got killed. XD Only a few of us got killed by some SoRs cause we were at the back of the herd. Sure, I died kinda early, but it worked out really well for the video cause my buddy Kronik managed to res me.The week before we were killed by an SoR zerg, though.

We actually had quite a few SoRs running with us this past week. Kinda joined in the middle of the parade when we got to the north camp. It was good. We must have had 70-80 people. That’s the most we’ve ever had.

Team Dolyak [DOLY] the official cross-server guild of the yak parade is looking for more members to join The Herd!

If you’ve never heard of the herd before, then lemme break it down for you. Every Thursday people from all three servers gather at 9pm in a prearranged location, use ruminant tonics to turn into dolyaks, and march around the map together exploding fireworks until they are killed by a hostile zerg or have a glorious three-way battle at the end.

We have guild banks on both Tarnished Coast and Blackgate for those who need or want free tonics.

Oh, Aurust, KH organizes more than just Dolyak Parades. We just had our usual five man roaming gank squads running around every day, and our regular large raid nights during the week. We’re also a night crew, so we’re not usually logging in in big numbers until 10-12midnight EST, which is well after the yak parade. It doesn’t really interfere with our other organized battle-related ventures.

Also, fighting 3 to 1 odds when the big server shuffleup is tomorrow seems kinda…meh… Instead of forcing ourselves to do something that could end up being tedious, we decided not to burn ourselves out and focus on enjoying ourselves instead. The yak parade lasts only about an hour and it’s at the end of the week when the scores are about set. It’s a way to blow off steam. I don’t think of it as a waste of time, but as an enjoyable way to cap off a long week of tough fights.

Maybe you disagree that having fun is the point of the game, or you feel that we could obviously be having more fun by trying to get a big push going, but you are not us. You really can’t dictate what other people find enjoyable, and trying to talk down to people for having differing tastes just shows your lack of empathy and maturity.

And to the SoR who joined the parade tonight, I really can’t thank you guys enough. The video is going to be great, and it was so much fun marching with you guys. I hope you guys take the yak parade with you wherever you go, or perhaps a quaggan or plush griffon parade. It’s a great outlet.

Let’s give a little perspective on the situation.

A few months ago back when I was on CD, we were fighting TC. We were beating them by a lot, so we camped them. We put up tents, got out the marshmallows, strapped our food into containers and hung them from the trees (because bears are kitten) and we sang kitten ba yah outside of their spawn for a few days.

A few weeks later TC came back and this time the tables were turned, and within a few days they were the ones lighting the fires, breaking out the smores and I’m pretty sure that I saw atleast one camper wearing a forever lazy, which goes against all camper etiquette (shame on you).

Now TC is getting camped by SoR, and the forum warriors are out en masse because they have nothing better to do.

It’s the circle of life, and it moovvess us allll.

Just take your licks and deal with it. We will probably be the target of all of the t1 leftovers for quite some time (just as CD was when they were in T2 for quite some time). You learn to deal with it, and enjoy the small victories and forget about the numbers on the board.

Work with your guilds and you will see that SoR are not invincible – and there are still plenty of good fights to be had.

This is the most beautiful post ever. It reminds me of why I love my guild, and also pleases the yak god who has a keen appreciation of humor.

Hello. My name is Ellehnia (or Ellie) and I am here to tell you about Dolyaks. Dolyak Parades, that is.

What is a Dolyak Parade?
It is a parade wherein all three servers in the WvWvW tier come together, transform into dolyaks, and parade around the map with fireworks together. After making a loop around the map (which we refer to as ‘the circle of life’) – if we don’t all die to a zerg – the parade ends with a glorious three-way battle with optional duels afterwards.

Why PVE in a PVP Zone?
Doing it in a PVP zone is more challenging. It would be boring otherwise. We don’t necessarily want to live. We want the zerg to come for us. We want to see how far we can go.

Do I have to be a dolyak? They smell funny.
I realize that the smell of a dolyak is potent and may put some people off. If you do not want to be a dolyak, you can bring any kind of tonic that you have available. All transformations are welcome. We also have a need for Mesmers to portal the herd across water and Naked Guards to defend the herd from introlerant zergs.

The tonics we use to turn into Dolyaks are called Ruminant Tonics and can be made very cheaply with artificing and/or bought from the trading post for a few coppers a pop. Fireworks can be purchased from an NPC vendor in Rata Sum next to Researcher’s Waypoint.

To use the firework while transformed, you must take the tonic first, then click on the firework in your inventory. Fireworks are bound to your account, but can be dropped on the ground for other players to pick up. Only non-transformed people can pick up another person’s firework.

When does this parade take place?
Every Thursday at 10PM EST. The herd begins gathering a half hour beforehand – 9:30PM EST – in order to mail out ruminant tonics and send invites to the Team Dolyak [DOLY] guild. We hold the parade at this time because it’s the end of the battle week, and the scores are basically set.

Where does this parade take place?
The location will be announced in map chat one hour prior to the gathering time on the day of the event and also in the Team Dolyak [DOLY] message of the day each Monday. What is [DOLY]?
Team Dolyak [DOLY] Is the official cross-server Dolyak Parade guild. Membership to [DOLY] is via [DOLY] consort only – anyone who is a [DOLY] leader can send an invite to join; if you dont know anyone who is already in [DOLY] please feel free to mail me in game. Ruminant tonics will also be distributed for free through the [DOLY] guildbank for those who need them.

My server wants to join the Parade! How can I start one?
Just send me a mail in game and I will invite your organizer to be an officer of [DOLY]. Officers can build a guild shell on their own server so that they can have a [DOLY] guild bank and so on, because – unfortunately – guildbanks don’t go across servers. Because the parades are held on borderland maps, and indicated by server color (blue borderlands, red borderlands) we should be able to hold parades on every server at the same time and in the same relative location.

And of course, you can also start your own guild and do your own completely separate parade if the spirit moves you.

Some good fights in TCBL this evening. Keep at it TC….for the first hour after reset we thought there would be no one to fight. And then there you were for the rest of the evening fighting tooth and nail to reclaim what was formerly yours.

I do wish that PiNK would have shown up but it was nice seeing KH running amok as red names for once. I certainly do hope that you guys are enjoying your new home.

So, for those who haven’t heard of the Dolyak Parade, it is a special player run event that takes place every Thursday in WvW. The official Dolyak Parade has moved from Crystal Desert to Tarnished Coast, but before I left I filmed some clips of in the game and got many screen caps of the glorious herd as it migrated through the world vs. world maps.

My friends from [RISE] remarked that I sound vaguely like GLaDOS from Portal, and it inspired me to pen a parody version of Still Alive from the point of view of a parade yak. It is my gift to my friends from my old server, and will probably serve as the ending credits to the official Dolyak Parade recruiting video which I intend on making later, hahaha.

The official Dolyak Parade has moved from CD to TC with me, so the Tier 3 parade has been cancelled, much to my great disappointment. :‘( I have to stay with my guildies, and all. Perhaps Sir Tryce of [LW] and Prince Jarvan of [RISE] could get together a CD version of the parade this Thursday regardless? You don’t need me to have a parade, after all. You can use the Team Dolyak gchat and meet behind the southcamp of CDBL at 8:30 PM for the 9PMEST parade launch as usual. We’ll be holding one in TC BL at the same time.

Team Dolyak has arrived!

This Thursday [DOLY], a miniguild of [KH], will be hosting the first Tarnished Coast based Dolyak Parade.

What is a dolyak parade? A dolyak parade is a cross-server celebration of Dolyaks and Fun wherein people from all servers come together, turn into dolyaks (or other creatures! all or welcome) with the aid of tonics, and march around the WvW map exploding fireworks. Why do it in a PVP area? Because it is more challenging that way. Our goal is not to live. Our goal is to see how long we can last, and should we make a full loop around one map, we start on another map or have a three-server brawl with optional duels afterward.

I’m Australian. KH is probably the largest force I’ve seen from CD when I play during the evening.. still, seemed like you guys had a lot more numbers when you were dominating the tier. Maybe you’re just more spread out than previous encounters due to FA actually having an Oceanic force now or maybe you just seem smaller now that I actually have some backup during my “prime time”. /shrug

Like I said, Sunday was the largest KH group we’ve ever fielded. About 40 people. We’ve never had more than that, and for the last three/four weeks we’ve fielded 25-30 people on regular raid nights. We run as a group a few times a week, and the rest of the time we roam in five mans or teams of 10.

I kinda gotta ask, did something happen to CD? I know us in Fort Aspenwood got a bunch of transfers from IoJ, but I doubt it would make it this unbalanced between the servers.

You actually got a ton of people on during our server downtime when most of our population isn’t on…I think that’s what happened. You’re winning because you people on all the time, and we well…don’t. That’s it in a nutshell I think. I’d love to have some clarification from somebody on during that time.

I feel like [EsF] [KH] [LaZY] [NAGA] [VaL] [MDMW] just haven’t been out in the numbers they have been previously. These are all guilds that used to give us trouble out there! I don’t know why this is. Overall militia participation on CD has dropped though for sure, I think their morale is probably down a bit unfortunately.

Are you in NA night crew or Oceanic time frame? KH is a NA nightcrew guild. The 10-15 KH people you see during the day is not our main contingency. They are the yak team and roaming day squads. KH fielded its very largest raid ever this past week. We had 40 tentacles of the squid in FA BL holding both south towers and the camps for around 4 hours. Wiping 20 swarms of FA who came in packs of 10-30 people every two/three minutes, lol

I only took video for about an hour of it, and my video involves a lot of walking yaks and shows how bad I am at playing this game (I am sure my guild leader will be yelling at me should he see it) but it also shows just how difficult it was to accomplish anything on Sunday night. If we left the southwest camp to take the south camp, we had to rush back immediately after capping in order to save the southwest camp from the FA zerg or push rams off our tower gate, hahaha.

It was such a challenge, and so much fun. I’ll get the video up at some point (and probably cut it to just the battles, because walking yaks will bore people to death and an hour long video is just too massive lol).

I have some unfortunate news for all those interested in the Dolyak Parade. Unfortunately, my main guild has decided to move house. So, there will be no dolyak parade this week. However, I will be producing a dolyak video that features the DB and FA players who I filmed over the last few days. I will certainly post it here, and after the shake up of servers this Friday, hopefully we will meet again and be able to have a grand parade.

Fights are so much more interesting this week. I totally agree with Jez. I’ve been having a lot more fun fighting this week than the last two weeks when we were winning. Winning by a kitten ton of points is boring.
