The bad blood with CD goes back to a dolyak parade. Yes, really. Some individuals decided to have a roleplaying event wherein they designated a dolyak as nearing retirement. During the parade, they (as well as the dolyak) were randomly killed by some FA players. In retaliation, Tarnished Coast and Crystal Desert spent the rest of the reset openly double teaming FA.

This is entirely wrong. Actually, the dolyak was not nearing retirement. There was no ‘role-playing’ involved in the sense where we were NOT pretending we were real yaks, or battle hardened escorts, or whatever. We just wanted to walk with it around the map, explode fireworks, then have a massive brawl. Also, the Dolyak and one escort survived and went all the way to its final destination.

One TC guild decided to camp FA – it just happened to be PiNK which is a very large guild. They had a commander and many members in the yak parade. In fact, in the screencaps from TC’s end, there were 6 commanders in the parade that I could see. And after they took the entire FA map, they came and took the entire CD map as well. My guild leader actually yelled at me for causing armageddon because they kept wiping all the maps during their primetime for several days afterward.

You celebrate dolyaks as if they are graceful embodiments of nature, when in fact they are nothing more than symbols of bourgeois oppression. The wages of dolyaks are death. We in Crystal Desert have come to the conclusion that all enemy dolyaks have contracted a terrible bovine disease known as Scaley Hoof and must be put down for their own good.

Also, since we’re going to have decent turn out from all three tiers this Thursday, I think we should celebrate at the end by deforming and having a glorious three-way battle. Afterwards, anyone who wants to duel behind south camp can use the Team Dolyak guildchat to organize duels.

Shout out to FDIC. They have the highest number of kills on me for the night! four/five at least. I also have a good clip of HOPE picking up a firework from my dead body and setting it off on top of me.

Yeah, I have tons of footage of horrible yak deaths lol. I have one of a group of 5-6 FA dancing on my corpse after killing me outside of NW tower in FABL. XD Not sure if that was you guys, since I thought it was a mixed group and not a single guild. If you see me and want to kill me do something unique! Use a cool finisher or something. Hold a vigil over my body.

I have some really nice footage of me giving out fireworks to DB players before being brutally slaughtered. and then they ran away shooting fireworks. So far, my favorite clip.

I’ve been having loads of fun running around as a miniature present laden dolyak with fireworks in FABL tonight. I’m trying to get some decent footage of funny sportsmanlike behavior and horrible yakdeaths for the end credits of the upcoming yak parade video. Unfortunately all the best footage of FA players (there were two wonderful players who ran alongside me and cried when I was killed, lol) happened before I learned how to use FRAPS properly! That was us at Bay that night. We were about 10-12 guildies there and I think we had another 5-10 randoms stream in after most of the second push wiped. We had it frapsed as well and it’s really cool to see the other side of the video. Our video starts at about 17:40. The language is a little mature for some of the younger viewers.

I like how proud you guys are of killing a buncha yaks and getting loads of bags from us. I’m not even being sarcastic, it’s hilarious seeing this from the other side and there were a considerable number of both yaks and guards. I wish there was video of you watching our dolyak lineup from the wall though

Thursday is the best day. XD I do wish more people from other servers would join though. It’s more fun that way and we can organize duels and stuff after.

Normally, we want to have participants from all three servers, and therefore don’t take camps or keeps, but since it was all CD last week and we didn’t have enough mesmers to portal all of the yaks across the water, we attempted to take Bay in IoJ BL – which was held by FA at the time.

The herd was culled by FA defenders who fought valiantly against the bizarre ruminant army, but we made it most of the way around the map. Success!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dragon Brand to Tier 3, and invite them, as well as FA, to the fine three-server tradition of the Dolyak Parade.

What is a Dolyak Parade? It is when people from all three servers (or at least, whoever shows up) get together at the end of the week – Thursday – to celebrate Dolyaks, Fun, and Friendly Rivalry. We use ruminant potions to transform into dolyaks, and march around the maps with fireworks, dodging zergs and confusing all those we come across (expect reactions like “Why are you all cows?”), much like a flash mob and ending with a glorious herd culling in which most everyone dies.

It’s a great way to blow off steam after a long week of battles, and also a way to form cross-server friendships (and also sometimes organize duels).

We have formed the Team Dolyak mini guild which people from all servers can join. It disseminates information about the time/location of the flash parade, and free (FREE!) ruminant and other such tonics for all.

Please send me a mail in game if you would like an invite to Team Dolyak! Bring your booze, bring your friends, and get ready to ruuuuuun freeeee, free as the wiiiind blows!

I’m not TC, I am CD. I made no threats and bullied no one, and my group organizes the event and feels the same way. I even stated that I thought TC’s response was rather extreme (albeit, kinda funny in that they take their RP so seriously).

But, I can understand why you are holding a grudge against the Yak Parade because of something that a server we are no longer wvwing with did or said months ago. I understand it, but I won’t deny that I think it’s a little sad that these thoughts occur to you at all.

When that small group of FA crashed the parade, I went out of my way to continue trying to recruit FA people to join us, because I have no hard feelings. But you’re not capable of putting aside an overblown reaction from a server that’s not even here anymore? You do know that they stomped all over CD’s maps when they finished with FA’s right? Should we stop being capable of friendly conversation with them because of it?

It’s just a game ya’ll. And words are wind.

Probably because for FA at least, we were deemed enemies of TC and CD when a small group of FAers decided to kill the Doly on the first event. Videos and threads posted to make FA look bad because of it doesn’t exactly make me feel like joining up.

I do not harbor any ill will towards you, and neither does anyone else in the Team Dolyak group. We understand it was a small group of FA who were just taking advantage of a situation, and also we understand that we are in wvw and part of the challenge of the yak parade is to escape the enemy despite being defenseless.

The group that crashed the original yak parade was only a small group of FA. :x No point in jumping all over them and over-generalizing. Besides, one of the reasons we hold the yak parade in WvW is so that we can encounter and attempt to evade the enemy The herd culling is a natural part of the process!

We’ve actually been Full for several months now. My friend spent weeks trying to get in in November and December.

Alsooo, last week’s yak parade was a success!

We had made a full lap around CD Borderland, completely unmolested, but that is boring. So we decided to move to IoJ instead.

We made it from our spawn up to north camp, wherein we portal bombed in the midst of a skirmish for claiming of the camp – because nothing is funnier than 20 yaks randomly appearing in the middle of a fight.

The herd was eventually culled by an IoJ zerg outside of the north east tower, but a couple yaks managed to make it all the way back to spawn. Overall, a success.

And here I thought people played video games to…have fun? The point of doing it in PvP zone is that it becomes a challenge (traversing dangerous territory and all) and then people can have a fun fight afterwards. Honestly, I don’t care if you kill us. I never have. I expect people to kill us every time we have a parade. That is part of the fun.

Buuuut I suppose pretending you’re a battle hardened warrior in a fantasy world with magical weapons is such serious business and SO much higher brow than bovine flash parades. Excuse me for being light hearted and civil! Perhaps the only kind of discourse you’re capable of using and understanding as a surly warrior from the brawny school of the brave is the kind that starts with a kitten remark and ends with an air of superiority.

I hope you feel bigger, badder and better than me. You totally deserve it!

The majestic dolyak plods laboriously down the ever perilous roads of the Mists.

A beast of burden, the pack dolyak often travels alone on its endless quest to supply its owner’s keeps and towers. This winter, a young dolyak decided to change its fate and spread Wintersday cheer among the three factions of the Mist War.

…It did not end well.

Last night, I appeared as a peace moose in the bridge of the ruins in the south of FA BL. Also, I appeared as a miniature Wintersday dolyak, assisted the Duelers behind the mill, and frolicked in front of Redbriar as FA sieged it back from TC.

Much fun!

I am considering that the Team Dolyak ([DOLY]) mini guild will have flashyak mobs throughout the match. Once I get the guild bank going we can distribute party foods, fireworks and ruminant tonics to all members, and announce meeting times and places through the Message of the Day.

All members can invite new members, so you can invite your friends if you are already in DOLY.

Actually, I organized the event and I am from CD.

I have no ill will toward FA, and I’m really surprised by the strong reaction that the TC folks had to the intrusion on the Dolyak Walk. I was absolutely sure that someone was going to troll this event. I’m actually surprised that a few of my own guildies didn’t show up to do some light trolling themselves. :x I love my guild, but we’re do troll some (oftentimes our own).

In the end, the main objective was completed, so I am satisfied. :0) The yak made it to the keep, and at least one yak guard got it there.

I love you guys from [PRO]! Me and my friend were dancing on the ruins with some [PRO] dudes a few days ago, and having duels and such.

Yes, I have nearly 200 ruminant potions We can have a fabulous parade again next week.

The main objective was completed. Italucuc escorted – as a dolyak himself – the intended dolyak to the keep without dying or without the Clovenhorn (that is the name of the southernmost dolyak) dying. It was an enemy dolyak being escorted to an enemy keep, but the event was about getting the dolyak from point a to point b and have fun. To me, that is what matters. In the end, Team Dolyak secures victory!

I for one had no doubt that there would be people trolling the event, so I was glad that there was a bit of a lead up to it with people gathering behind the camp and chit chatting or dueling or what have you. It was a lovely time. The screencaps of the dolyaks with all the fireworks is hilarious.

Yes, south camp is a better idea. I only chose north camp because the south camp’s dolyak is not Flyffyhooves, but Clovenhorn.

The Yak Walk will be at 8pm EST at the Southern Camp of Crystal Desert Borderlands.

If you would like to turn into a dolyak, you will need Ruminant Tonics. I am leveling up my artificing now so I can make ruminant tonics, and will provide them for free if you would like some.

Also feel free to use mystery tonics that you get from Black Lion chests. You will turn into a random animal, but still fun.

And of course, if anyone has fireworks, also fun.

I’m fairly certain that like…five people will show up, and randoms will end up killing all of us and the yak. XD But whatever, it’s about having fun.

Hello! I just wanted to make some small requests of my fellow players.

If you are from CD you probably think of me as the mad red pirate that toils endlessly alongside a dolyak in an endless quest to upgrade All The Things.

If you are from FA or TC you probably think of me as that squishy blue ranger toiling endlessly alongside a dolyak in a hopeless quest to upgrade All The Things you are just going to take anyway.

My fellow CD players, I would ask that if you should see me walking alone beside a slowly plodding dolyak, that you please toot your horn or otherwise put a speed burst on as you pass to assist my efforts. It is for the good of the server!

And ye nemesis of TC and FA, I ask that if you should see me toiling all alone with a dolyak, that you wave at me before you stake me to the ground.
