Guild Armor as Purely Emblem/Tabard

I hadn’t seen anyone running around with guild armor and there wasn’t a “preview” option at the vendor, so I decided to spend the 1g on the guild armor and the guild backpack to see what it was like and let my guild see. both are really awesome, but I do not like how the armor is an actual skin rather than just a tabard like what Logan has that sits over our armor. I really want to get the vigil armor for my guardian but I also want to show off my guild emblem. can this be changed so that it just adds the tabard piece?

@Gyllisan — HAHA yeah…a friend said about facebook messages and IM’s that I don’t just write messages, I write essays. Also a friend awarded me with the longest text message he had ever gotten. I tend to write a lot. Herman Melville is my hero.
@Wombatt — I don’t think it is an exploit. I couldn’t be sure how ANet would respond to it, but it seemed a TON more legit than buying loads of cultural weapons for dirt cheap karma and doing whatever with it. I just saw it as a somewhat clever way to farm or use the system. If your connection was quick enough, theoretically you could do this for every area of farming, including logging to get quicker access to mobs than waiting for respawn.
@Method — The only way I know of getting wool scraps is from loot bags, salvage trophies, and salvaging lvl 30-45 light armor pieces. Thanks for the other information!

TO ALL —-

Try to bullet point locations and matts or whatever the subject you are going to share is so that people that come to this thread can somewhat easily see or ctrl-f what they need. I will start doing that myself. Gillysan was right that my text was too lengthy and it is difficult to garner the useful stuff.

Thanks all who contributed! The rest of the 1.5k that have viewed this thread, do you have anything to give or are you going to just mooch off of us? What ideas or experiences do you have in the gathering process? Let’s build a community that wants to see all Tyrians prosper and progress, not just a “grab what you can from those willing to share” kind.

Ahoy there fellow Tyrians!

reference added thanks to Gyllisan https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guildwars2guru.com%2Ftopic%2F57320-master-list-of-crafting-materials-farms%2F

I have just been compiling lists, as I play, of some areas that are good for farming certain materials and what mobs, and ways to go about farming efficiently.

—Vial of Weak Blood
– skales to the south east of the Altar Brook Trading Post waypoint. just pull the lot of them if you are good at CC and dodge. You can get maybe 4 each pull of 8-10 skale. sometimes more. just run around the trading post in the water once slaying more skale and by the time you make a circuit the gang would have respawned.

— copper ore deposits
– the best way I found to do this, especially since there are huge amounts of low level players in the starting zones still, is to find a good cave with regular 2-4 deposits strewn about and mine them, then log to character select, then log back in (in a safe spot) and hopefully you will be in a different overflow where you can mine more deposits. if you draw a line from the altar brook trading post waypoint to the phinney ridge waypoint, there is an ettin cave about half way and to the north east. i’d mine what is there, run to the top left away from the ettins, and log. be careful tho because there is always a veteran ettin. so if you aren’t comfortable with that bugger, then find a different place.

— small venom sac
– south of cornucopian fields (or broadhollow bluffs) is a stretch of hill and trees. there are spider sacs you can squish, spiders hanging about, and fireflies. just run from one end pulling the fireflies as far as you can, use ranged to engage those farther away to come to you too. just pull as many as you can, use AoEs if you have them, and just keep at it. there is a vendor to the west kinda tucked away in a little camping ground for when you need to sell junk or clear up inventory space from all the equipment drops. I spent about 1.5 hours straight doing that and got about 65 of them.

— small totem
– there are jotun in Lornar’s Pass right due south from the renown heart for Researcher Suki at Highfirn Passage, which is about dead center of the map. I have tried other suggestions for grawl and centaur, but these jotun, and particularly this hefty cluster of them in a smaller area I have found to be the best location. Just pull 2-4 of them at a time and you should be good. Just figure out their tells and dodge.

—bags of _ (random loot bags from humanoids)
– in Diessa Plateau there is an area called Reaper’s Corridor. There is an event that triggers there often where separatists build catapults and you need to destroy them. that’s a good time to be there since there are more than 20 mobs and 3 players could handle it all. but regardless of the event, there are maybe 4 concurrent mobs there and can be easily taken down, and pretty much once one goes down, another takes its place. They drop those loot bags a lot and after getting soaked up in the action on my ranger with sword/dagger and dancing around the mobs a ton (it was rather intense), i realized that it had been about 30 minutes of it and i had over 30 bags. these give you fairly decent amount of mats.

I did all this as my guardian (minus above paragraph) using a staff (sigil of something that gives you 2 stacks of might when swapping in combat) and scepter (with sigil of bloodlust, which is really useful for fast kills) and a torch (sigil of air, which was nice too bc of the fast aoe damage from the scepter, lightning strikes would happen often), except for the jotun. I had gotten bored of the scepter/torch and switched to a sword/shield. But the staff is still the most useful weapon for PvE because of the barrier, the speed increase, and the might buff.

best thing I’d say is if you are going to farm, figure out skill set that would keep you alive in a tight spot if you accidentally pull too many, and that would allow you to easily switch between targets (often times i’ll leave ranged mobs for last if i need to use my teleport and burn skill to get away from close combat mobs).

If you have any suggestions of places, weapon choices for farming, weapon upgrade slots, or anything that you find useful for your personal farming, just let us know and give us some details so we don’t have to hound you for an explanation. If you know a good website or forum other than this that has already been compiling this information, then feel free to post and make this page redundant.

Thanks!

or find another area of revenue and salvage all that crap so you can get to a higher skill level. eh, i’ve found that farming for a couple hours gets you about 70s-1g. i’d do that about once a week, and not buy anything but craft what i need or use whatever drops and is better. no need to upgrade your -15lvl gear unless you are doing a 4 man dungeon run.

3 friends and I were able to run story AC. we were fine with everything except the fire traps until we realized we could destroy the gargoyles, took about 8 wipes to get a fluid system going with the 2 lovers (use the boulders! they are your friends also, when the NPCs go down, get 1 person to get them back up), and Adelburn was just a monster that took about 5 wipes to get him down (watch out for the red circles, and don’t dodge roll into them and pop a protective shield, they don’t work for ground AoE). overall, it’s not bad once you can handle it, but after doing it with 4, it just seems easier with 5 if you have a good group.
