This is a screenshot of a female human elementalist underwater wearing the feathered armor.

i have found this too. Not just with the feathered vestments also. I haven’t tried it out on a Norn but it seems that for the human females, the textures and meshes for the breasts look really weird and misshapen. I posted above about it and said that they look like cardboard cutouts.

I’ve no idea what’s going on here. In the Hero Panel, the blade is missing from my greatsword and it seems part of the panel itself is gone.

Sylvari, Male, Mesmer, level 10
Weapon: Avenger’s Longsword, level 8, acquired from personal story The Knight’s Duel.
Armour:
Fanged Dread Mask, starter armour.
Velvet Coat, level 5, from personal story A Good Work Spoiled (I think..)
Velvet Hose, level 7, probably also from personal story but I’m not sure which one.
Apprentice Gloves, level 10, from Xee at Kraitbane Haven.
Apprentice Boots, level 10, from Xee at Kraitbane Haven.

it seems to me, as having used the weapons that share that skin, that there is supposed to be a “blooming” effect like a flower coming from a stem. In this case the blade is a flower and the hilt is the stem or pod. Though I can’t remember correctly, but isn’t the blade protracted when it is unsheathed?

There is a small seam in my midsection. Also, the nobleman’s boots from the light armor CM explorable clips through the feathered pants. I’m wearing the inquest vestments, feathered pants, nobleman’s boots, etc. For some reason it’s only when I put on the feathered pants. Even if I take everything else off the seam is still there. With the human cultural t3 it’s fine and no seam.

environments that have triggered AoEs to use for advantage in battles . meaning that the landscape would change for different attacks . suck as in a desert area a water AiR would create sinking sand that would immobilize and create a combo field . or a volcanic area that would have lava pools . though the hard part would be giving incentive to battle at places like these . I think the only possibilities would be altering the current landscape bc the maps are big enough as is, but are kind of plain and boring . little room for tactics . commander just means “come and I will give you candy.” there is no sense of commanding

I think what he means is to have a small map for 3v3 TDM style battles. my personal example would be wow’s arena battles . there’s a huge difference between the current spvp mode and arena matches . if the custom arena allows for 3v3 and limiting map sizes by say, only one team’s base where guild lord is, that would be what’s he’s saying . though, he also is saying a separate ranking system to sPvP . I’d like something like this . thought I’d say the maps would need to be in radius twice the radius of the larger AoE skill as to keep from spamming ele AoE’s

the boobs look like cardboard cut-outs merged to a body and aren’t the same texture as the skin tone (which would make sense with tan lines, but is that the case?) it’s not a super important thing, but just looks a little off-putting.

there’s a soldier in kessex hills west from Fort Salma that is attacking the ground on Anvil Rock server. I will check again tomorrow to see if he is still doing it or if he will reset/die when the surrounding area’s controlled by centaur again.

ok. but with the 25% increase as a passive, does using a speed buff ability stack increase my movement? i can’t really tell. what would be the point of having a signet or one with air when you can just use a staff skill, dagger off hand, and healing skill for a 26s 33% boost.

The signet of air says in its passive description that it gives a 25% speed increase but the icon above my skill bar says 10%. I also have the One with Air trait active that is meant to give me a 5% speed boost every 10 seconds I’m attuned to air, max of 25%. That isn’t effecting it though because the icon still says 10% when I switch the trait. Is this a typo error or are the mechanics out of whack?

what annoys me is that there are groups that just go around in a circle capping bases purely for the xp and while the opposing team is clearly moving in the same pattern, they won’t just turn around and meet them. The only thing they were doing was leveling by doing that. I don’t EVER want to hear from someone who has done that that this game is repetitive and a grind.

Well the surname seems to fit but I’m not sure the origin of the first name.
But now I’m interested to read the book so that’s a good sign. =P

10/10 great names! i feel like Olrick is more of a dwarven name though. Talon is great for a thief. nice use of your real name. it fits.

I named my human thief Shikara Lockheart because I was thinking of Amelia Earhart at the time, not sure why i made the twist on the last name, and I was thinking of Shakira, but played with it and liked Shikara more. Also a guardian named Thoren Oakenshield, obviously from The Hobbit. And an elementalist named Niënor Finduilas , a combination of a human character’s first name and the first name of an elf lord from the book The Children of Hurin.

I commend you sir! i find it incredibly difficult to think of anything original for classes. I’ve spent time throughout middle school and high school creating stories and games, but class types have always been limited to mage, warrior, paladin, rogue, and necromancer for me. hard to bubble out, but i will definitely give this some thought and possibly make up one. i particularly like the idea of “preparing” buffs before engaging an opponent. It gives it a very active tone.

they already talked about this. the reason for not being able to preview different armor types is because its a short term fix to a bug and they are working on optimizing the previewing feature for the long run, so they are, for now, leaving it out.

the embroidered gear causes a seam in the lower back. i noticed it when my coat was broken and checked it without wearing it to see if it changed, but it didn’t.

In my opinion the current stealth style is kind of boring. We want an actual stealth class, not a wana-be one.

did you even watch some of that vid i posted? it was quite stealthy. if you want a stealthy thief, then there are ways of doing that. if you want an acrobatic thief that just runs and rolls all over the place, there are ways to do that. and the comment about the 15 dollar subscription is invalid, because a game is a game and class types differ between them. I hated playing a rogue in WoW. I was a hunter. A close combat hunter even. Rogues with that form of play was super boring to me.

I think mounts are a great idea! This world is so big, and when Cantha and Elona comes.. even more ground to cover.
To make mounts out of different animals and different styles inspired from the different instances would be awsome!
To make a world of its own, a “bonus world” were the mounts are important and perhaps even can fly, and fight and/or you can fight while mounted it would be awsome!..
So many things that can be done to make this game even more epic. No need to stop creativity and the fun..
So there need to be limitations. You cant ride in town. You cant battle from them, or just in certain places. Who knows. But for sure it can be made in a way that is great for everyone! I really love swimming in this game and hear and see underwater.. it is amazing! And for sure, having mounts could give that same bonus experience on land/air as well.

And think of it.. When something happens in your area.. Event, or other..! And we all get our mounts up and gogogo..! We get to the action faster and way cooler!

if they continue with map design for what there is now with cantha and elona, then again mounts are just not feasable. please explain to me other than the “coolness” of mounts, why they would even fit in the map design. simply the fact of it not being an open world but small instanced maps means that it’s not designed for mounts. if they would have done it in a similar manner to WoW and other such games, I would completely agree that mounts would need to be in the game. But the only reason maps “feel” like they are big is because of the way a character runs. Have you ever watched your character running from the side? It’s like they are sliding on a soapy surface. the 33% speed buff is pretty much as far as any speed buff would go, including any mounts. even some of the trees aren’t large enough to go under if you are mounted. if you think there is a good way to change or fix the game to make mounts fit, then say so. otherwise, stop dreaming about strawberries.

Let’s talk about the state of Thieves at the moment as well. If asked, many players would say that Thieves dominate the PvP environment as a whole. Their damage output and ability to reset a fight whenever they choose gives them extreme versatility. While this could probably use some toning down, especially to the amount of stealths we see during combat (which can turn into stealth-spam rather than a finesse to managing skills), I would think it’s safe to say Thieves are in a pretty good spot. Overall, they have a niche playstyle, particularly for those who like stealth-heavy combat and the ability to pick and choose which fights they want to start, and which fights they want to finish. Needless to say, it’s an acquired taste, and it feels pretty different compared to many stealth-heavy classes from other MMORPGs, but the Thief in this game has a unique style to it that fits with the style of combat the game is aiming for.

How about this to “fix” the thief. What’s the problem with the thief in combat? The fundamental issue? Not that you can’t hit them, but that you can’t see them and you automatically disengage (i.e. ‘untarget’) them.

So simple change.. When a thief goes into stealth they do not become de-targeted. Stealth in this case acts more like ‘protection’ that other classes get, for X seconds, and it represents how tough they are to see, but really, unless they use something like a “smoke bomb” which should blind them as well, you really wouldn’t have someone disappear right in front of you.

So now we’re balanced. the Thief would have something more akin to an ‘evade’ ability, that would immediately stop all attacks against them, but other players would be able to engage them again as soon as this wore off. I think that most of the people I know that complain about stealth would find this agreeable.

Now something I think is worse than stealth is combo activating that “jump 300 feet” ability they have and they can run at full speed. Really? Who thought that was balanced. They can literally jump out okittenrange of a rifle and longbow in less than a second and then repeat this to get even more distance ahead in less than 5 seconds (seemingly, I didn’t clock it).

So how do you fix that? Hmm, put the ability on a 30-45 second timer to represent it’s power as an opener, but don’t allow it to be abused in PvP or WvW.

Other alternatives include:
- Let it be spammed but shorten the distance to maybe 450 or at most 600, enough to get out of melee but give ranged attackers a chance to continue the assault.
- Immediately lower the run speed to non-modifiable (no buffs, food, etc would affect) base combat speed for 10-15 seconds after the leap. This would represent the leg stain it takes to leap 30’+ through the air at once. (* the same could be done with the warrior or any other class that has a ‘leap’ ability*)

I don’t want to ‘break’ the Thief class, but bring them more in line with the capability’s of other classes. They seem to have more than their share (compared to some who have practically zero) of disengage abilities, ro we want to make sure they are balanced in the scope of the game. The two examples above are the most unbalanced int he class I think.

Not meaning ti hijack the thread, the post I quoted illustrated fairly well how unbalanced perma-stealth would be for a thief otherwise and no disagreement from me for that.

leaving the target on the thief? really? that completely defeats the purpose of the stealth.

im pretty certain that there is no delay. unless they added that in in the last 2 weeks because i deleted a character and changed the race and class and used the same name, all within 10 minutes

the only thing I can see as being good raid material is the charr siege of ascalon fractal, only larger scale and more involved than running to a gate and making your way through streets to defeat a boss. nothing too lengthy though. I never did WoW raids because I never had the time.

they didnt take that long tbh.

ok. but apparently they would take nigh upon 4 hours straight to complete. at least that’s what i’ve been told by a friend who did them all the time.

Ok, I have come up with a few ideas as changes for the utilities and abilities that put you into stealth. Keep in mind that these are just ideas and Arenanet(if they were to go through with this) could change or tweak them at any time.

1. [Hide in Shadows] | A simple change for this would be to change the 3 seconds of stealth to 3 seconds of evading attacks.

2. [Shadow Refuge] | All they would really have to do with this is make it a circular [Smoke Screen] (it blocks projectiles in a line).

3. [Cloak and Dagger] | This would be very easy for them to fix as well, simply change the stealth part to something like “causes the target to bleed”.

4. [Blinding Powder] | What they can do here is remove the stealth part of it, and have it blind multiple times instead.

5. Finally the downed ability (smoke bomb I think it’s called) would not have to be changed because it is only available while you are downed and it’s only for 3 seconds anyway.

And here I’m going to list the traits, and possible things they can do with them:

“Descent of Shadows” “Release blinding powder when you take falling damage, take 50% less damage from falling.” If they were to change blinding powder as I said on number 4 above, then blinding powder would no longer stealth you so this problem would already be fixed.

“Last refuge” “Release blinding powder when you reach 25% health” This is the same explanation as “descent of shadows” above.

“Instinctual response” “Use feathers to stealth you when you take more than 10% of your total health in damage with a single strike” A simple change for this would to have you instead shadowstep away instead of going into stealth.

“Hidden Thief” “stealing gives you 2 seconds of stealth” Since “Steal” would be replaced with “Cloak” then you would have to change this trait to perhaps augment “Cloak” like.. “Using cloak gives you 10 seconds of swiftness” something like that.

your wording is very matter-of-fact. you sound like a teenager that wants his way. if you don’t like how the thief works, then find a different class, or a different game. suggest additions to the class that do not completely alter the foundations of its gameplay.

here is a very good thief at work. it is a very energetic play style and is very effective. the class doesn’t need a revamp. if you prefer WoW’s cloak and dagger approach, go back to it. This is about acrobatics, movement, and timing. oh, and no small amount of skill.

Magic-Find is not a legitimate excuse to ask for Inspect. There are simpler solutions.
Like fixing Magic-Find to benefit the party.

Stop trucking on your own opinions and think about this from the developer’s perspective. Then you might come up with some good ideas.

No one fights him because Path 1 and 2 are so much easier due to exploits or weak bosses. This is a dungeon-wide problem, not an issue with a specific boss.

@Personalized stats on legendaries

Just use a transmutation stone. The legendary-status is all on the skin, you can transmute the item stats with one that suits you.

legendary weapons have slightly better stats than exotic gear, so what would you transmute it with?

there was mention many months ago about a battle ax (2h ax) because there was an image of a warrior with one on the main page. a dev said something to the effect of, “let’s keep some fun stuff for future content.” they definitely do intend on adding more weapons, but honestly, how many more can they actually do? i do not think there are nun-chucks in tyria, but i guess they could do halberds and some others, but even so with added classes they may create new weapons, as well with expanding the map to include the other continents which would add new races and classes, and new cultures, so there are possibilities.

im pretty tired of posting explanations about why mounts would not work…
so.
“it would completely change the dynamic of the maps. mounts work in open world games that are larger and aren’t limited to zones, on top of just the overall terrain of the maps, i do not think mounts are viable. the only reason it may seem to take a while to cover the area of a map is that the character movement speed is fairly slow without speed buffs. it is viable in a game like WoW because there are so few zoning instances that it allows for that lengthy travel, which then makes mounts and faster movement speed a handy tool. I can see mounts in this game being just as annoying to handle as a horse in Skyrim trying to get up a mountain.”

i mean, if you REALLY take a look at how the terrain is set up, you will see that the ground and the scattered objects are placed in such a way that anything larger than a norn, or as long as a charr, would not work. it doesn’t seem to be an eye pleaser either.

It’s been scientifically proven time and time again that men are naturally stronger than women. I love how this somehow makes me sexist in your eyes. To begin with you aren’t even replying to my argument, mine was about genetics and you retorted with some nonsense about how some women work out while some men don’t at all. There are plenty of women who could beat the life out of me, that still has nothing to do with what I said.

I can already tell you’re a radical so this is the last time I’ll respond to you. I’ll lay one last example on you. You’re saying the boob claw and frilly clothes could be overlooked by you if men also had such revealing clothing, and then in the same breath you go on about how the gaming community is sexist and SOCIETY is as well. See where I’m going with this? If men also had revealing clothes leveling the playing field, then you would have never even considered calling the gaming community sexist. The icing on the cake is the 2nd paragraph. I never once claimed women were unfit to fight, if anything I said they could fight. You claim I’m putting words into peoples mouths while in fact you’re the one doing it, or twisting my words for your own purpose. Then you go on a rant about how women can get stronger if they work out? Something I(again) already pointed out and yet for some reason you see this as putting me in my place.

Toss that ending right back at you, all I’m seeing angry ranting.

On another note I just thought about something. If they changed the arah armor…what else did they change? I know that the tribal gear doesn’t exist in pve, they for some reason removed it when the game launched. I really really want it on my norn male too but anet isn’t responding to any questions pertaining that gear. Basically I’m just wondering if anyone knows about any other gear that was changed like arah or removed like tribal armor.

i like how that was the last time you’d respond to him/her. anyhow, can we stay on topic so this doesn’t get trashed and our hopes and dreams of having a dead hand cupping our characters goes up in flames?
