^That’s because the increase you had was too small to notice. Many players run MF well into or two hundred percent – effectively doubling or tripling rare drops. In an hour of farming that could easily make you a gold or two more than not using any when selling rares/masterworks at a vendor/tradepost.
However, I agree completely that the stat is ridiculous and should be taken out of the game. I seem almost forced into using the stat and forgoing something more useful (like vitality or toughness) in favor of more mf to keep up with the cost of things.
I think the fanboyism in this forum is unreasonably hight.
It costs too much and prevents people from waypointing from one side to the other a lot of the times. Why is that so hard to understand? Why do you feel the need to defend it as if it’s perfect? I guarantee a large portion of the level 80 playerbase gets to lions arch through the mists – which is a sign that the costs are a bit ridiculous.
I mean, for goodness sake, I can die standing on a waypoint and it will cost me around 1.5s at a minimum to teleport to the waypoint I AM STANDING ON.
Have you guys tried simply disabling the in game post-processing effects? imo the game looks much sharper and better without all the bloom and haze.
There are quite a few relatively worthless and unwanted superior sigils and some inexpensive and common superior runes in the game at the moment with no use beyond vendoring or selling at the tp (often at a loss considering fees).
Unlike other exotic items, exotic upgrade components cannot be used in the mystic forge (at least for the 4 items = 1 item recipe). I would very much like to suggest allowing us to toss unwanted sigils and runes into the forge for a chance at a better, more desirable rune/sigil.
I’d like to suggest implementing a trade post feature on the pick up items page that allows you to select what you want to pick up at any given time.
This would be very helpful to those of us that purchase large orders of things but don’t want to pick it up until the entire order has been filled. It would also be great for alternate characters to save the steps of having to go to a bank and place things in inventory to swap between characters.
Sorry if this has been suggested previously.
Apparently there seems to be a bug with masterwork accessories and the mystic forge. I’ve attempted to combine 4 into a new item 3 times in a row (and had also attempted once on another occasion) and each time got nothing back, nor had any notice pop up.
Anyone else run into this problem? Has anyone successfully combined 4 masterwork accessories in the forge?
The same problem might happen with other accessories (fine or rare), but I’ve not attempted any such forges.
Just tried 4 rings and got another ring back – same for amulets (never failed to receive anything back on either trinket type).

The dragon events are too easy to give out guaranteed rares – although I do think the chance should be higher than it is. For what it’s worth, those events spawn high level additional mobs that seem to have a far better chance at dropping valuable items – make sure you’re in a group and take them out when you can.
Wanted to bump this because the problem is still there and quite annoying. Some of us (I’m sure most of us) have high resolution screens and the normal interface just wastes a lot of screen real estate.
I end up having to swap back to normal size every time I want to use the trade post.
Some of you guys are far too defensive when it comes to criticism of this game. This is a big deal for completionists – and often renders map completion rewards useless because you are 10-20 levels higher than the gear you get by the time it’s finally fixed.
Sure, you can sell it, but why bother giving gear in lieu of gold in the first place if that’s how it’s gonna be?
Same problem here. I just finished my world map completion today after the latest patch.
Anet should just change all of these so that instead of interacting with the guard to start the fight, they just stand there guarding a commune spot.
Problem solved. No npc spawned? No problem, just hit f.
I’ve used these runes (full set) for a couple of weeks now and have never heard Yarr! shouted once. I get the might bonus, but have never heard the audio.
The parrot is also more trouble than it’s worth, since it attacks everything and slows you down. The above suggestion is far better (1 more magic find rune).
