Because the 50% rarer material in the description thus far has shown itself not to apply to ectos at all. Same with the other kits.
Well, all I can say with certainty is that the supposed 100% ecto rate (at least 1) on high level exotics is not true in the slightest – no matter what kit you use.
I think what would be great is a legendary for each stat set (Carrion, berserker, cleric, knight, rampager, etc.) for each weapon type.
Atm, you pretty much should just build your build around your legendary rather than the reverse.
If you can’t see/haven’t seen the huge reduction in bots in the last week or so firsthand, all you have to do is take a look at the prices of the mats and rares they were farming on the tp. There has been a massive reduction in supply – which is great because the bots are gone, but terrible because crafting is 2x as expensive now :\
I gave up salvaging rares a week ago after 1 or 2 weeks of pathetic results.
I even had 6 or 7 exotic salvages (out of 10 or so) with black lion kits that yielded absolutely no ecto whatsoever – I thought exotics always gave at least one.
I also suspected some form of DR. For what it’s worth, I’ve accumulated well over 300 ectos since launch (sold half) and have 94 points in agent of entropy (gotten the achievement 47 times) – so if anyone would get hit with DR it would have been me
Anyways, I decided to take my chances again last night after the break and started getting a few (maybe averaging a 80-90% return). Check now, that last patch might have fixed it. Or if it was DR, taking a break from salvaging rare/exotics might have corrected it.

I would like to suggest changing how the weapon/armor stat descriptors work with transmutation stones. If I transmute a carrion armor piece to a berserker set, it shouldn’t carry over the ‘carrion’ portion of the name.
It changes with runes, so why not transmutation stones?
well i dont know about you guys over at oceanic areas
but over here in americas and its territories they had hurracain sandy hit the east coast pretty hard, then you got the presidential race and equivalent democratic races in its territories from the US , so i havent been logging on this week due to watching a lot of tv and just long work days and whatnoti think well start seeing a lot more people soon as they start going on thanksgiving breaks and thers more people at thier homes whatnot
i play in dragonbrand and the pop has dropped somewhat these days but nothing to be alarmed of
the real problem is , theres a lot of 80s by now, and they have little to no reason to go back to lower zones to do events, people need to start heading to lower level zones to get their dailys but i admit i dont care too much about the daily most of the time
I’m on DB too and the pop anywhere besides lion’s arch, orr, or frostgorge has dropped dramatically in the last few weeks. If you’ve thought otherwise lately, it was because a lot of players came back temporarily for the halloween content.
It felt like I was the only one in divinity’s reach yesterday afternoon when I started a new character.
I started a new character (human) a few hours ago and was the only one in the instance. I was shocked.
I agree that they should fix it….
… by just allowing you to wp to LA free.
The armor is nothing special – it’s all standard leatherworker crafted armor. It’s the helm that’s unique and (as far as I know) unobtainable in the game.
Crests give 20/14/14 stats each. Most runes give 165 to their primary stat if I remember correctly and either nothing or something like 50 to another stat.
So 165/50/+special trait or 120/84/84 of 3 stats.

I have 2 stacks of gossamer bolts. It’s relatively easy to obtain if you salvage a lot (I have 88 points in agent of entropy). I salvage all whites, sell blues and greens except light armor which I also salvage (blues). This won’t net you a ton of gossamer (sometimes you get lucky), but it will net you a ton of silk.
Use that silk in the forge.
2 Baelfire, 2 Balthazar, 2 Flame Legion. Burn baby burn.
While I agree, I would just like to mention that not all classes suck underwater. I have a ranger as my main (guardian right now – I agree it sucks), whom is devastating underwater. Feeding frenzy + jellyfish f2 skill + rampage as one can rip through groups of enemies like they were nothing.
I think they just need to fix some of the classes to make them deal more damage underwater. And let the camera zoom further underwater so you can see the enemies above/below/beside you.
I doubt it would change without a patch lunawisp. You may have just had a string of bad luck, or weren’t killing as many mobs as you normally would.
I actually picked a female for my mesmer because I thought all the light armor looked terrible on males. I have a male ranger as my main.
Swapping gender is nice for a change of pace once in a while. Nothing wrong with it.

I’ve noticed that I’ve had terrible luck with ecto salvaging lately. I’ve salvaged several dozens of rares with only a handful of ectos to show for it and even 5 or 6 exotics in the last week or two that resulted in no ectos at all – all with black lion or mystic kits. It’s gotten so bad for me that I don’t even try anymore, I just sell all my rares.
Perhaps others are having the same problem and the supply is shrinking.
Edit: if you look on gw2spidy you can actually see that volume has been dwindling. Maybe anet did something to the rate.

Makes you wonder if there is a single player in this game that likes MF. Certainly removing it would have absolutely no negative effect on the game. I wish they´d just get rid of the whole thing, improve the loot percentage across the board instead and never mention that abomination of a stat again.
Well, it would certainly piss off a lot of players that purchased or crafted MF gear.
I wish there was a vendor sale price for dyes so I didn’t have to put all these blues up on the tp constantly.
I would like to suggest an icon for getting to the character select screen on the top left along with the other icons.
I realize you can just hit f12 and click character select at the moment but the extra step seems unnecessary to me. I go to the character select screen pretty frequently either to afk or swap alts.
Placing 4 accessories in the mystic forge yields no result - every time
Posted by: captaincrunch.6731
I have tried at least 10 times with various rarities and never get anything back. I understand there’s a chance to receive nothing on occasion, but it seems this is guaranteed every time.
Has anyone ever gotten a result from 4 earrings/accessories?
Store at least some of your gold in your account vault — when you waypoint without the required cash in your inventory, the cash will be taken from your account vault anyway; no banking needed.
Or at least I’m pretty sure it works this way.
I didn’t know this. That’s nice to hear if it works that way.
Please make gold a universal resource for all characters. Gems are already that way.
I don’t know if anyone else finds it frustrating, but I have a couple of alts that are constantly broke because of waypointing and the like – thus having to go to lions arch or the nearest bank in order to withdraw gold to keep playing.
I have a main that I use for TP related activities, so I keep most all of my funds on that character. It seems kinda silly to me that I can’t simply tap into account-wide resources from each character without needing to deposit/withdraw. I’m sure others find this annoying and the additional steps unnecessary as well.
I’ve found that having 2 or 3 level 80s in orr mining orichalcum every day can be rather lucrative – and painless (takes a half hour or so).
I thought the devs said early on that every part of the game would be playable solo if you wanted – including dungeons.
There’s no harm in providing soloable dungeons at all. You guys are grasping at straws to say otherwise.
Supposedly they are accountbound despite saying otherwise in the description. People have posted as being able to equip on multiple characters.
This would be pretty unfair to those who worked hard on getting that 120g. I’ve spent nearly 2 months saving and I’m only at 110g atm.
I’d be happy w/ karma, since I would be able to buy icy runestones or something with my gold instead – but I know I’d be furious if this happened after a purchase.
It was already moved from a tier 1 trait to tier 2 and the cd’s on phantasms was increased. They don’t need to nerf clone generation more.
It’s not like mesmers have a lot of vigor or something and can dodge every second.
I don’t understand all of you guys and your vehement dislike of any idea that’s contrary to your “norm” from GW1. Last time I checked GW2 was not GW1, and it was an MMO designed to appeal to a wider audience.
Gear progression is an rpg staple, and last time I checked, GW2 was an rpg. What you guys seem to want is no leveling, no difference in gear stats, and absolutely no difference between one player to the next beyond cosmetics. That’s not much of an rpg at all.
Botting - Should Anet empower some responsible users as volunteers?
in Suggestions

Against this. Sooooo what if I get selected to be empowered and decide to go on a banning streak and ban the people I do not like?
Keep it in the company. If you want banning power, go get hired.
You’d lose your privileges obviously and the accounts you banned would be unbanned. It’s not like such powers would be given to some random player on a whim.
Yep. For what it’s worth, 250% of a .01% drop is still just a .025% drop though.
There’s no use in farming for them, just be happy to be extremely lucky when you get one and look for rares the rest of the time.
I think OP really just wants more skins. I do too. No need to mix armor types, just give us more of each.
Although I’m sure we’ll get more with time in future updates.
I’d wager i’ve gotten a few hundred rares from drops – but only the 2 exotics.
Seems to be something close to 1% or even .5% of the rate that rares drop.
(edited by captaincrunch.6731)
They should just allow weapons to break like armor. Then these naked bots running around would be barefisted as well and do nothing to mobs.
I think it was marketed as having no need for a gear grind, not that it wouldn’t provide the option for players that wanted one.
Whatever happened to the whole “play the game you want to play it” philosophy? Some people want to get better/newer stuff once they hit 80. It’s already obvious with the legendary grind many players are currently in.
The thing is, you already have 3 sets of gear on 80 that have a stat progression. Masterwork, Rare and finally Exotic. That’s the gear grind you’re looking for.
They were all made relatively easy and close in terms of the stats they provide exactly because if there were massive gaps, you’d be forced to get the highest tier of gear.
As for “playing the game you want to play”, there’s plenty of that in the game. I have never played a game before where you can level up your character by participating in PvP or by crafting. And even on 80, there’s plenty to do. Some prefer to go grind the dungeons for gear, others will go out to mine all the resources they can find and master all the crafts, while someone else is probably going to explore all of the world and do every single renown heart, vista and skill challenge.
Looking at the posts that a lot of people make here, it’s clear that to a big, vocal portion of the player base, the fact that there’s different skins for different weaponry is actually a big part of the endgame “grind”. And if you ask me, that’s how it should be. A lot of the games that do have layers and layers of progressing endgame gear usually end up with most of the older, “outdated” gear not being used by anyone because it’s just not “the best”. And that right there is content wasted.
Also, looking down the line, if you had level 80 gear that had vastly superior stats and required a long grind to get to, you end up with the new level 80s feeling weak and forced to grind that same gear to stay competitive. And that’s what this game tries to avoid. That and it means that the longer you’ve played the game at the level cap, the stronger you are. That is also something you should avoid as it turns away the new players.
I’d understand this in WvW or PvP, but not pve. Who cares if someone spent 3 months getting gear thats 5 or 10% better than what you have? They can simply not allow use of that gear in pvp – or downgrade the stats to normal exotics.
tbh, I haven’t played other mmo’s and don’t know what endgame is supposed to be, but I want a goal I can strive for with my 80 besides simply legendary weapons.
Legendary armor maybe?
I think I’d probably be satisfied with more skins though.
(edited by captaincrunch.6731)
I’ve gotten 2 drops in Orr of exotics in my playing experience thus far.
I have like 600 hrs playtime, 300+ of which were in MF gear though.
The chests for the champions and/or bosses in the recent Halloween stuff has given me three though.
I would really like to know what server’s these people are on that keep complaining about low population. I usually play late in the day and at night when I would expect the server population to be low and never seem to be a shortage of people. Sure, there is not the hoards of people on like before but ever time there is an event or I’m downed, even if the map seemed empty, someone always appears to help.
The Halloween events have defiantly pulled people away from leveling. All event areas including LA are always full and I’m always thrown in OF.
Population dropping faster then SWTOR? LMAO not even close. That population dropped like a stone only a few weeks after launch.
I don’t think the population has dropped as much as people think. It’s just that the population has been spread over the entirety of the map. I can spend time on my high level and see no one, then switch to a low level and see lots of people and vise-versa
Halloween event’s have only been going on for a few days, the population issues OP mentioned have been going on for a few weeks now. If it’s not a starter zone or an end zone (60+), it’s pretty much empty.
Halloween might have brought some players back that will stick around after the holiday events (fingers crossed), but I’d guess things will go back to what they were afterwards. Although I think the problem has a little more to do with that there’s not much reason to spend time in those areas more than anything else.
I know this is my own thread, but I’d like to bump this anyways. I can’t be the only one that finds this frustrating.
You’re gonna have to dye your outfit to match the weapon I’m afraid.
You can use the slippers in the mystic forge with 3 other exotics to get a new one.
There were exotic weapons being sold on the tp yesterday for as little as 15s. Level 78s no less.
I submitted a bug report on the chests – sorry if I spoiled everyone’s fun (I probably wasn’t the only one). I figured they somehow swapped the rare drop rate with the exotic one (considering no one was getting any rares at all).
Racism? What server is he playing on? This is the nicest group of people I’ve ever played with. If he thinks this game is full of racists and bigots, he better never set foot in any blizzard-owned game as he’ll likely die of shock. Problems with botting on the other hand cannot be denied, but ANet is adressing them, slowly, like they do just about everything.
I personally reported a lot of users using n***er pretty frequently the first week or two on map chat, but haven’t seen any issues like that since. I’d guess anet is either doing better filtering or has dealt with the problem sufficiently well.
For what it’s worth, slowly addressing the botting issue isn’t good enough. It ruins the economy and causes players to quit playing since it’s not a level playing field. They can fix the problem a month from now, but it could be too late by then since half the pop (or more) will be gone and the value of most things will have tanked.
I, like many others I’m sure, like to use different alts when I run dungeons – some of which I would like to get the dungeon gear set for, some I would not.
This is normally fine, since anet made the dungeon tokens account bound so I can give the tokens to the desired alt and have them purchase gear for themselves – however, you’ll often find runes in the chests in these dungeons that are immediately soulbound on acquire to the character you are using at the time. This can be a little frustrating when the bonuses aren’t applicable to your profession (things like burn duration) and is seemingly something very simple to fix.
Please ArenaNet, make all the dungeon runes account bound rather than soulbound.
On a side note, it would be wonderful if you allowed us to toss four superior runes and sigils in the mystic forge for a new rune/sigil. Seems like a win/win to me – we get new runes and you get a money sink to remove items/gold from the game world.
My biggest complaint is that the prices are unbalanced. I can go across that map for almost the same cost as going across a single zone. And it should NEVER cost money to TP after a death, repair costs are enough.
I’m ok with the nearest waypoint being free of cost if you’re dead.
You are apparently not level 80 then – or haven’t traveled to or between different sides of the game world. I’m in Malchor’s Leap right now and it would cost my level 80 4.5 silver to get to CoF – it’s over 5 if I’m in Cursed shore.
You could sell three of those Orichalcum ore you picked up to cover the cost with some left over. That is you you spend the three seconds it takes to mine the node. If not then you deserve to run out of money and be stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
I travel all over using waypoints, I would bet I spend about 30 silver a night on my Ranger. I also die a lot in WvW so that’s money going out for repair cost. I still have money coming in faster then it’s going out. All I do is sell Orichalcum ore, Ancient Wood and Omnomberries. I’m at 14 gold and climbing. If you ask me, this renders anyone that has a level 80 argument invalide. Just think, if I had two level 80’s then I could DOUBLE my income from these three gathering items.
It’s not a matter of being able to afford it or not – it’s about it being an unnecessary tax on players.
Currently, you are completely vulnerable when swimming on the top of the water – which in areas with Krait or Risen like the cursed shore can be a big problem with all the pulls and stuns they shoot off.
I guess I can understand not being able to use combat on top of the water (maybe I can’t) – but you should at the very least be able to dodge or break stun. As it stands you’ll be hit with 2, 3, or even more attacks before you can even react because you need to dive underwater to heal or do anything at which point you’re assailed by even more attacks.
Please allow heals/stunbreaks/dodges to be used on top of the water.
The highest price of a teleport I’ve seen is about 3 silver. That’s less than the reward for doing the daily events and can be covered by doing 3 dynamic events.
I only use it when I’m going somewhere I have something to do. Just be smart about when and where you use it and you’ll do fine. Also, remember teleports within major cities and the Asura gates are always free.
You are apparently not level 80 then – or haven’t traveled to or between different sides of the game world. I’m in Malchor’s Leap right now and it would cost my level 80 4.5 silver to get to CoF – it’s over 5 if I’m in Cursed shore.
Perhaps they should simply make zone=>zone teleports cost a higher amount and intrazone teleports rather inexpensive (like less than 50c or so each).
I wouldn’t mind if it still cost me 4 or 5s to get from Cursed Shore to Frostgorge if, once I’m in Frostgorge, I could get around the map without spending another 5 or more silver on waypoints.
Bosses being capable of wiping out an entire map would be pretty epic – but I’d imagine the forums would be flooded with people complaining about the difficulty.
Currently, they are really not challenging at all and more tedious than anything else after beating them for the first time and thus losing the wow factor.
