How do you think I should get the extra health? Runes? Different Armor? I don’t really want to change traits too much if they are good like that
I’m been looking for an excuse to change my ranger from condition to knights for a while and I need some help putting a build together for it. It needs to be for WvW and I tried to make it survivable in 1vs1’s and in group and zerg play.
Weapons are Sword/Warhorn and Longbow. Open to change but they seem a good combo at the moment. Especially as GS not bleed removed.
I’m getting a commander badge too irrelevant but worth mentioning as I haven’t seen a commander ranger ever in wvw yet.
Thanks for your help.
Edit: Just thought perhaps going down the Beast Master trait but how viable would that be with S/H LB?

lol just summoning spirits, healing, and weapon attacks are the laziest way to play i’ve seen on this game. There is no argument anybody can make otherwise.
Ele and Thief takes zero skill? They are the squishiest classes in the game if you aren’t on top of your game you will get slaughtered. They start with 10k health and have to actually press buttons to heal themselves, with an s.
A Thief and Ele, btw, have to work their butts off to get the same results as an AFK Ranger
I hope this is a joke. Theif’s can turn invisible at the touch of a button and never be seen again. Ele as someone said before have very strong Burst Damage even when invested heavily in survival traits and gear.
o_O if a ranger is AFK he is dead.
I was on WvW the other day and stopped for a second to take a drink, I died in about a second from a cloaked thief doing insane burst damage. As a ranger the only way to stand a chance against a thief is if you see them coming otherwise you lose soooo much health in the first burst you might as well kiss your Kitten goodbye. And the pet A.I is sooooooo broken especially against thief that rangers basically are at a 15-30% disadvantage to any other profession.
I know you’re just going to say, “But we’re squidgy” How the Kitten are you meant to hit something you cant see?
And FYI rangers are squidgy too.
Wrong person
When I feel for going small scale I tPvP. It is more challenging.
oh yeah LOL. It was like 4am when I was writing on here LOL
the rabbit from the holy grail film
yeah I agree with you regarding spvp.
i’ll try something different risking condition removal but always end up back on my spirit or condition build. There also needs to be some huge changes in pve and wvw.
I’ve recently started playing WVW a lot and I don’t feel like a master of the wild. i feel like a very venerable guy with a bow and gs who cant escape anyone and has some animal humping my back leg constantly and when i point it at an invader it stands there looking at me for a while before running around behind the invader and just following him…..
I want to feel mobile and at one with nature!!!!!!!
And don’t get me started on theifs……….
That’s a shame. I find wvw to be quiet enjoyable. I win the majority of my 1 v 3s and below.
what build are you running for wvw. i’ve been contemplating making a knight build just to try it out.
I run full knights in WvW and it is not viable for anything aside from large group play. With large groups, you can trait into power and make use of very high toughness to survive, along with the 6s immunity sigil, and stability sigil actives.
so how are you winning 1v3’s or lower?
I think people don’t understand the fact that as a ranger on a condi spec you simply have no sustained condi aoe.
Let me put it in perspective for you. Necros can aoe condi sustain. Engineers can aoe condi sustained. Eles can condi sustained.
It’s not about relying on 15 sec+ cd’s aoe fields, or the fact that you need to spec 30 into skirmishing for traps to be worth anything.
As a ranger you simply will not be able to damage groups of people anywhere as good as an ele or engineer or necro, and that’s a problem in formats where aoe sustained is crucial.
Giving axe auto a bleed would help with that sustained.
Ranger is the one ranged profession with very poor aoe options. Barrage is on a 25 sec cd, does pretty much no damage compared to other aoe skills, and our other weaponset aoe is a bonfire that needs offhand training to be the size of a trap. That’s as far as actuall aoe goes. And neither are low cd options that you can use very frequently in a teamfight compared to other classes.
feels like the ranger is being forged to play a support role as apposed to the lone wolf ranger we are made out to be…..

Warrior rifle hits instantly while having Killshot that hits like a crazy mofo and we have arrows that move slower than a turtle… In gw1 we had the same thing (not on all bows because there was many kinds) but at least we had access to spirits and preparations that speed up our arrows. In gw2 we have nothing like that so its pretty much #dealwithit from anet… Not a surprise everyone uses SB or even Axe for range
I use sb but still haven’t got used to range nerf so often don’t get close enough before attacking =(
Those mesmers deserve it for getting our shortbow dmg nerfed.
ranger here, don’t even talk about shortbow nerfs. lol
