Had really terrible skill lag earlier that prevented me from getting contribution for claiming a tower. Actually, it wasn’t lag, because that implies my skills were used at some point. They just weren’t going off, and I wasn’t taking damage either, but the whole battlefield was still going so I wasn’t being disconnected or anything. Then all of the sudden, I took a huge amount of damage from what I can only assume was the five AoEs underneath of me finally taking effect.
I can understand if this was happening in a game without a queue, but what’s the point in me having to wait 10 minutes to get into the map if it can still be rendered unplayable?
Sorry but there has to be a point where the community gets held accountable. Those that move and those who stay and want to complain. We do not not need mommy and daddy or in this case anet telling us were or when we can play. Some chose to move others did not. We all are accountable for our own actions.
You can try to hold “the community” accountable, but the fact of the matter is it’s worthless to do so. It’s like holding a tornado accountable for wreaking havoc. No, you hold the folks who have the power to prevent the damage accountable.
If this is something ArenaNet doesn’t want to touch, that’s fine. Just don’t act like you’ve got some greater perspective because you want to prevent any meaningful discussion by shifting blame to an amorphous group of players defined in your head and no where else. All you’re doing is running into the middle of the discussion and throwing up a Line of Warding, derailing things for a few moments.
It has nothing to do with anet that low populations servers suffer, it is down to player choice/greed. ANET gives players the choice and they bugger up the servers by stacking them, if you want someone to place blame on place it onto the player
There’s a point when you have to put restrictions in place and can’t hand-wave it away because “it’s the community’s fault.” I’m not sure if this is that point, but it’s silly to just dismiss any complaint about negative behavior like that. ArenaNet controls the game and, by extension, the players. They are the only ones with the power to urge the player base to do something.
Does your server have a website or a large, active guild with a website? “If you build it, they will come.” Just put the event up and I’m sure lots of folks will show. Most of them are off in some other part of the huge world doing whatever they’re doing with no clue that something interesting is happening that they could be a part of.
The only reason I knew TTS was doing Tequatl tonight was because someone in my guild gave us a heads up. I showed up, had a ton of fun, and got a bunch of achievements and loot. But if I didn’t know about it, I would have still been roaming around WvW or doing map completion!
@Nuzt nothing in this thread is going bad. Please keep the negativity on your own server discussions.
@BrickFurious There is actually going to be a server WvW meeting tomorrow at 4pm server time as well as a few WvW practice events. Check out the Sanctum of Rall events page for more. If you come to the meeting, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a WvW-heavy guild. Due to all the more hardcore WvW guilds leaving, you’re more likely to find a casual WvW versus one that requires strict attendance.
I believe you can PM the OP if you would like more information about transferring, like gem assistance or something. If you have any specific questions about the server, please ask us!
Really amazing community. Griefing and trolling are almost unheard of, and all the guilds and their commanders are friendly and helpful.
If you’re new to the game or WvW and happen to be browsing this forum, please come over to SoR! There are daily newb-friendly events and plenty of people doing PvE at all hours. It’s the most mature, respectful community I’ve been a part of — in any game.
please,please!No more achievments like this!

…the fact is that its an extremely long battle where ONE mistake will cost you the achieve. So I can’t really blame people for wanting to take the safe route and let everyone else fight rather than scurrying around for 30 frantic minutes hoping and praying you are absolutely perfect.
This is my biggest gripe with it. Coupled with the unskippable cutscene when attempting Nowhere To Hide, it’s very frustrating. It’s not even like getting to the Prime Holo is guaranteed… no, you need to log in during NA prime time because otherwise, it’s impossible to get all three knights down, and even then it’s a crapshoot. So it’s not like the achievements require too much skill. They require too much patience and too much luck. At this point, you could seriously log in every day for the rest of the LS and not be able to even attempt the two Holo achievements, just because your schedule has you logging in when the servers are bare or the playerbase doesn’t want to cooperate. And as the weeks progress, it’s going to be harder and harder for people to get those achievements, as less and less people are wanting to do the events.
I agree with the OP. Please, no more achievements like this. The fact that there’s such a hassle to even get to the Holo fight, coupled with the extremely unforgiving nature of the achievements, means when folks even make the effort to get there, you’re encouraging them to not participate in the fight and just stand in the back to ensure they get the credit.
This is the main reason I’m upset. My server doesn’t have a lot of people to begin with, and during most of the hours we just don’t have enough to split up no matter what. We usually just kill one knight and celebrate our sad non-victory.
Well from how I read it, that shouldn’t change. This is only forcing large (or normal) size groups to split. If you’re <= 50, just go around “zerging” them like normal.
