I haven’t compared the salvage kits yet, but has anyone looked at if they’re a better/worse bang for the buck compared to the Mystic Salvage Kits? Isn’t the % chance lower on the commendation salvage kits?

If a player buys gold from another player, he gets the gold he wants, the selling player gets gems she can use for microtransactions, and ArenaNet generates revenue from the sale of gems that we can use to keep supporting and updating the game. Everyone wins.
I wonder why they decided to get rid of that option. Maybe they figured they’d make less revenue from gems?
Because selling gems for $$$ is their income, plain and simple. You can’t give away this market to players, they need a sustainable income.
Personally, I am glad they allow people to buy gems with gold at all. If I had a gaming company, I am not sure I would allow this, it cuts your income by ALOT. I am sure their marketing departement did quite alot of thinking about this and decided to let people buy gems for gold anyway. But they can’t free that price entirely: one way or another, they need to make money to keep going.
But don’t they control the supply of gems completely? They can set the $ to gems, gems to gold, gold to gems conversion to whatever they want. By giving the players a hand in how much gems are worth in gold would make me happy, because lets face it their rate of gems to gold sucks. You know they’re going to be making money either way.
4000 gems for $50 is bad enough as it is. While the price of gems to gold may change over time, the real world currency to gems rate is going to get old fast. Especially when they have events like Halloween. Yes, you can buy all those items with gems from gold, but if you’re a casual, with not a lot of time on your hands those things will fall by the wayside and you’re going to feel resentment.
It’s a great game and I love it, but the biggest turn off for me, by far, is the economy. Flat out. I know it’s new, but compared to other mmo’s auction houses and trading posts and whatnot, gw2 has some ground to cover. In a word: overambitious.
Yep, I never tried a higher recipe for a craft I already knew. I just added a recipe that was too high for me and it indeed shows up but red. So logic says that other professions would show up as well. Thanks!
Are downed players affected by regeneration? I’ve always had a habit in the middle of combat or a boss fight to throw Geyser or Healing Rain on a downed player if I’m in the middle of combat and can’t get to the player. I know this can be beneficial to players who try to revive the downed player, but does it actually affect the downed player, ie heal them to revival?
I spent more than I’d like to admit. I bought the Halloween themed items, which I don’t regret. What I do regret is the amount of keys and eventually gold I bought to obtain the skins I wanted.
I started the event the day before act 3 dropped, so I felt like I was always playing catch up. I’m in Europe so I was asleep when they announced that once act 4 started I wouldn’t be able to get into the Ascent to Madness dungeon, and once I was home from work Act 4 had already started. I didn’t farm it when I had the chance, and I regret that as well.
Do I have buyers remorse for the amount of gems I bought? Yes.
Will I buy some at Christmas? Probably, but not even close to what I spent on this event.
Am I correct in thinking that those people selling items 1c more than the minimum listing price, are actually making less money than if they sold to an NPC because of the listing price? For example a hammer that sells to an NPC for 32c is listed on the trading post 200+ times at 33c with a listing price of 2c. Wouldn’t you make more money selling to the NPC? Am I understanding this wrong, and is there any way to combat this?
Make Karma bought items sell for 2cp regardless of item lvl and allow them to be salvaged. Every time I buy a weapon or piece of armor, I have to remember not to put any upgrades in it because I know I can never get it out again.
