Testing some S/D builds PVE

Fresh Air build will yield maximum burst and dps for Elementalists now (it’s what I switched from D/D). It doesn’t have the 5 sec internal cooldown as it is advertised and you can chain the free lightning strike (traited) infinitely every time you crit and switch to Air attunement. It is quite devastating against players and PvE if you have a high crit rate + high crit damage and fast fingers.

So before, dagger thieves were spamming heartseeker. Even the most unpopular of builds and personally my favorite, P/P thieves are only using Unload.

Not saying the initiative system needs to be changed but man, at least take some effort to make other skills competitive and not one uber dominant skill with each weapon.

Unload is not the issue…or is it? The problem is the rest of the skills are so kittenty it makes P/P thief so boring to play (and level). Let us have some kind of rotation! >:(

Pistol/Pistol only needs two major skill tweaks and changes to make it competitive. Currently it’s unload spam in WvW and PvE, which is fine to an extent. If Vital Shot and Body Shot can be fundamentally changed, it would be awesome. I also suggest Black Powder to be changed or upgradeable to ground target.

Would you say then, maybe take out Quick Recovery or Hastened Replenishment for Executioner instead so you get extra dmg and not overkill initiative? Mmmm I think I’m going to level up my thief just to try this build with fire sigil bwahahaha.

the interesting thing is…it probably won’t happen in a hundred years due to the ‘Marks’ style game-play it offers now. It would take an entire redesign of the weapon.

The scepter should be range (or even increased) along with axe (increased) should the staff be changed into a melee cleaving weapon.

I said that the Staff should be our melee weapon with cleave (unique to Necro only) since it already has a scythe graphic on #1. To me this really makes the most sense without creating a new weapon set. The only problem is that the marks might need to be changed into something else to fit the theme.

At least increase the range of pistols if you’re gonna nerf shortbows… the new Ricochet would have synergized well with a siege range.

I think the change to Ricochet; correct me if I’m wrong to help with leveling without resorting to the shortbow when fighting groups (especially in story mode). Otherwise it doesn’t seem to be awfully useful in PvE, PvP or WvW, maybe a little WvW…

Well, I think a 25% increase in Ricochet…but yeah that’s about it. So sad, I really like the P/P look/style.

Ah…the Elementalist…the one class that only truly unlocks it’s potential at the very end of the road….like opening a new path of discoveries.

To me the Elementalist due to it’s attunement swapping mechanics, is like a boxer throwing a jab 50,000 times. By the 50,000 punch, you notice you’ve become something different entirely. MarzAttakz, add me to that list of ‘Eles’ as I’ve pretty much ditched all my other characters to truly master my Norn Elementalist, right now just collecting gear to make myself truly epic as I believe I’m in a good place in terms of skill mastery.

Of course, unlike any other classes, there’s always more room for improvement, that smoother transition of elements, that tighter angle of attack, that stronger ability to throw off our opponents with tactics and that much better at reading our opponents. Be like water my friend.

lol read my last post… Avatar is the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind when making an Elementalist. The only disappointment is we can’t do kung fu, stuck with stupid daggers instead.

I suggested elemental gloves/gauntlets for unarmed combat to replace daggers.

not to mention wizards and mages should have the power to augment their strength or decrease the weight of their weapons…

That said though, a caster class should have never be able to cut, slice and dice the way how a warrior or ranger can, they shouldn’t be skilled martially with the weapon but rather use the weapons to express their spells, such as the dagger elementalist.

All classes must have melee options to fulfill the dynamic combat system Guild Wars 2 offers…

Swords are actually common weapons for wizardly mages, I’m surprised we have daggers instead. I always thought daggers fit more with classes like Witchdoctors, Shamans, Warlocks and Necromancers, etc.

Necros should have hand scythes (weaponized harvest sickles?) in place of Axes to fit them better…but still! Elemental gauntlets/gloves for Elementalists! XD

I just wish it wasn’t dagger/dagger for Elementalist but rather some kind of fist weapon/gauntlet kind of unarmed thing. That would totally make it Avatar kung fu – bending style hehehe.

very happy with the dagger/dagger melee setup, such a beast in terms of play style. However I think they could use a lot more damage considering how squishy they are.

I’ve been playing about 6 classes (professions) so far, as much as I love every different personal story line, it’s really the class mechanics and play style that will carry me to level 80 and beyond.

I must say I have finally found what I really belong to in the dagger/dagger Elementalist!
