I finally have my Dark Harvest, my first ascended weapon too. However, it looks like I will be stowing my Reaper until one day the gods from above show benevolence and once again allow us to be the death incarnate we were meant to be.
What a bittersweet way to prepare oneself for the Path of Fire…
I would say Death’s Judgement #4 is a little hard to pull off unless they are fighting someone else or running away (knowing they lost the fight). Otherwise, it’s still an excellent skill that I wouldn’t completely take out of a rotation. We all know PvP isn’t all about 1 v 1.
You do understand the Guardian class is Guild Wars 2 version of the Paladin, Holy Warrior, Warrior Priest archetype right?
this and Soulbeast, laziest implementation in an expansion class, ever. Ideas are OK but execution is absolutely depressing.
the fully unlocked dagger glows from the inside and changes color. It’s really cool.
Wanted to go nature based class this expansion, after testing…nope. Visually and aesthetically one of the laziest and poorest implementation. Same goes for Renegade.
Like every expansion, there are bound to be classes that are rush-jobs.
My feedback is -
A spec that excels in considerable space and terrain between you and your target.
More of a set-up and decimate class than a reactive, agile one.
I can’t wait to specialize in this role once the expansion hits. Slower pace, better planning and make your decisions count.
What I would like is see is Malice should act exactly like regular steal, no casting time and not affected by LoS. If I got you in my sights, you’re mine. It’s not a godkitten projectile I throw at you like a sticky bomb.
DeSCEPTERcons kittenes.
Even if that happens, thieves will only get bladed weapons. At most the mace and that’s it. Maybe the Rifle (sniper assassination) but it might come across as very similar to Warrior’s rifle.
Axe and offhand sword are the biggest possibilities.
I kittenin’ laughed out loud when I read ‘complete thief build (no P/P)’ not laughing at OP but just laughing at how hilariously disastrous P/P is. Why does it even freakin’ exist.
Didn’t they nerf that heal (water swap) for PvP?
How is it terrible? It’s been working fine for me. Elaborate? I personally don’t feel D/D should be pigeon-holed into the same old bunker style. Granted, melee in WvW isn’t the most ideal choice but from what I’ve experienced, certain scenarios do favor melee even though one of our drawbacks is that we can’t active weapon swap.
well with P/P you are just spamming 333333333333 forever with the occasional steal…I’m not sure it’s a big difference.
This should be the skill sets for this weapon
Berserker Barrage: ??? + P
Tornado Claw: ??? + P
Drill Claw: P + K
Berserker Barrage X: ??? + PP
Weapon X: ??? + PP
I think the word P/P and viable don’t go hand in hand.
How so FirstBlood, if every class has the option to play melee why not Elementalist? I play D/D with Fresh Air and Stone Splinters in WvW, works fine for me.
take away charges please…just common sense. Timer is fine. If you really need the kitten charges on then don’t let auto-attacks take away charges!
Ya I’m kind of a fan of the Diablo 3 skill system (which they are doing for WoW and the slot skills for GW2), unlock, choose and pick. My only question is, for this new feature of GW2, will it just be more slot skills OR actual new weapon skills to unlock? My guess is new weapon skills will be too much trouble to add and it’ll just be new slot skills.
Looks like as part of the progression rewarding system, all classes will be able unlock new skills and traits (instead of tiered gear in most MMOs). Anyone excited about this? Literally breathing ‘Fresh Air’ into the game! Discuss!

Kwansao – rotating arms or rolling hands in Cantonese. A Wing Chun technique…
I gave Scepter/Dagger a run and it was cool. I got over it soon enough but retained more or kitten % of the same build and traits but went back to D/D, like you said, dagger MH skills look hella flashy and I just love the Lighting Whip auto-attack, along with water’s auto.
As an Elementalist, I am never stuck in a situation where I can’t back out of a bad situation. I don’t make builds to win every single fight, that’s just not my way of doing things. I like this build with my dagger/dagger set up and my gear is a mix of Berserkers and Valkyrie with some Knights thrown in.
Going scepter is obviously better in WvW but kitten , I love my stylish Dagger main-hand skills too much. My staff is a back up weapon when I need to stand back and nuke. My scepter stays in the bank for now.
Sorry, my apologies, that’s why I prefer to use IntoTheMist hhahaha.
it’s 0/30/10/20/10
Since I use fresh air (with dagger nonetheless), I don’t rely too much on Attunement swapping anyway. With Fresh Air, it ‘shortcuts the fighting’ like my grand-teacher in Wing Chun likes to say haha.
My new build is 0/30/10/20/20. D/D, mostly a mix of Power + Precision + Crit % and Power + Vita + Crit % gear…
Got tired of the Scepter in less than a week lol….
It would be pretty awesome if they made some solid changes to the focus. I actually love some of the Focus skins like “Bloodseeker”. Too lazy to start a Necro to make use of the Focus and I love my Elementalist too much to play another class.
I too have been thinking of taking every single point out of Attunement tree, well maybe except elemental attunement (that one that gives boon when you switch) that one is boss.
I’m so tired of every single build out there is pigeon holed to that trait line. That is not how a class is supposed to play after more a year of release as a triple A title.
I’m going to try this for my new D/D hohoho…might get killed real quick but I’m just tired of going back to the bunker style. This is basically the same as my S/D build but swapping out the Harry Potter scepter for my trusty dagger again
Alright people, simmer down. Don’t you have better things to do in life? This isn’t even the best video game on the planet…geez. Anyways, numbers and charts are still in the domain of theory-crafting, note, theory. That means ideally in the most ideal of all situations, best case scenario.
However, numbers should not be ignored. It’s still math and science that makes a video game!
or you could take out Evasive Arcana hehehe.
@Zelyhn yes I absolutely agree.
C’mon Zelyhn, this is the second time you’ve opened your mouth before doing some research! Not a nice way to prove your overzealous knowledge and experience with the Elementalist! :P
tested…like what, did you just test it a few mins ago? My post was from today’s patch…
yes Stone Splinter is a serious contender now. It’s not mind-blowing 20-25% but we take what we can get. I am running S/D now but thinking of going back to D/D because of this trait (I do much prefer the dagger look and skills more).
Stone Splinter: This trait now correctly adds 10% more damage when within 600 units of the target.
This is now a somewhat good trait for D/D build now. Hmm I’m not sure if I should keep using S/D and still trait this or go back to my D/D? :P
Well water isn’t really meant to be offensive, however if you play d/d cone of cold (water 2) does a good some of damage.
Well I personally feel all elements should have an equal opportunity to do damage and be somewhat defensive depending on weapons. Out of all the elements I like water the best, but I’m not the biggest fan of ice. Oh well, there goes my water bending fantasy haha.
Give me a skill that blasts a water dragon at my enemies!
An assassin could always use a sniper rifle…just saying.
Hi Aether (did you make this profile name after the Sky Pirates patch? Haha), I am running S/D now. Sold my other dagger actually (it wasn’t super awesome to begin with). I feel the way how Lightning Strike is, it’s best to stay at that optimal range and just abuse the proc. Sigils I’m using are Force and battle. I can’t afford the runes I want now (Scholar) so I’m using a mix of Ruby and Beryl orbs. In fact, I might keep it that way as I don’t see a huge benefit using the runes for the price I have to pay.
To answer your question, I think D/D Fresh Air build is viable. It’s practically the same with a little less bursty (no Phoenix (fire #3) and Lightning Strike (Air #2).
we should just start calling Engineers Hobos now. This reminds me of the long-kitten rants about Tauren weapons being too small long, long time ago.
The minute he pops out of stealth he gets an unload
that just sounds really dirty.
They just made Air (or really lightning at this point…) more viable and fun. Next up they need to work Fire and Earth, also making Water just a tad bit more offensive than it is now and we’re set for life.
I would love to see Fire get some love real soon.
Actually I’ve been chain swapping air mostly (just using about 1-2 skills on each attunement) and the burst is fun as kitten. With the 5 sec CD implemented…meh, I’m not sure anymore. We shall see tomorrow.
if the ICD on Fresh Air gets fixed tomorrow, are we still running this monster? :P
yeah I would hate to move back to the Bunker D/D I used to run :P. Finally something so ruthlessly offensive that wrecks havoc in PvP/WvW…
no problem but enjoy it while it lasts…it’s a little on the overpowered side right now (for that aspect not Elementalist in general). I can almost feel it will be fixed tomorrow.
Zelyhn, you should try playing the game some time. I hate to say this but the trait is glitched for now.
“Blaine Tog.8304:
Aether McLoud.1975:
I’m not sure if it is exactly 5 seconds but there is a cooldown on fresh air. Try this (starting in air attunement):
Switch to fire, attack until crit procs fresh air, switch to air, immediately switch to another attunement, use arcane blast or wave for the auto-crit, and fresh air won’t proc.
I just tested this on a dolyak in Dredgehaunt Cliffs and had 0 cooldown. I switched attunements as rapidly as it would let me, got a crit immediately, and Fresh Air activated every time. No internal cooldown at all.
Confirmed.”
No it doesn’t. I switched back to Air Attunement immediately after I hit a crit (right after switching out of Air to Fire). Did you even test it?
I’m using S/D and the proc is the key to this build not the sustained AA…
I’m using Ruby and Beryl orbs too, so far I haven’t felt any runes that is cost effective enough to make a big difference (sorry, my character is poor). If you have the gold, go with Scholar.
I would totally spec into it if they made some nice changes on Conjured Weapons, like someone said, make it similar to kits (Engineers)
I’ll have to say, medium and large sized elemental weapons look rather bad kitten on my Norn Elementalist. So yes, please make some major redesign on Conjured weapons.
Fresh Air spec is completely based on your +crit damage, crit rate and how fast you press buttons and switch…currently the trait itself does not have the internal 5 sec cooldown…meaning every crit will give you the free lightning strike as long as you crit…
