This (as other things) goes against one of Anets fundamental principles: you should play to have fun, not just prepare to have fun.

MF gear promotes the toxic mentalilty that playing is first and foremost about farming/grinding. But more importently, it makes you feel stupid for NOT wearing MF gear all the time.

I know this is very generalising, but imo it creates 3 groups of players:
1. those who play to to farm, preparing to have fun the whole time, thus wearing MF the whole time.
2. Those who dont like MF gear that much, but feel forced to wear it, because its statisticly stupid to not wear MF gear.
3. Those like me who hate MF so much that they wont buy the kitten things – but still feel stupid because they know that they will always be relatively poor gold and item wise.
I think that this is more than just a question of selfishness. It is one of the things in this game (as in other MMOs) that pushes players into the metality of doing the things they are doing for other reasons than just doing them. They are not doing an event to win a fight or defend something, they are doing it because they are preparing for something that has nothing to do with the event (i.e. gear and gold). Hence the kittenedness of WANTING TO FAIL events to get more farm. I think only MMOs have this sickness.

Been playing 2 hours ago, and suddenly i cant log in. First time it happens.

Im on Piken Square server, EU.

Same problem here. 2 hours after I logged in last time.
And its the first time it happens.

But I can see another threat has been created on the same issue….

Although I just played the game 2 hours ago, I can’t log in to the game now.

It is giving me this message:
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications or connecting through campus network.” Error code: 42:1000:7006:849

But I know that this is not the case, since nothing has changed on my pc or network since I logged in 2 hours ago. None the less, I have turned off firewall and antivirus. But i doesnt help.
There must be something wrong on the server side.
Anyone else having this problem?

I agree with OP.
A lot of people have been complaining about how bad the mesmer is in PvE (not only about tagging): i.e. “no damage!”, “dying all the time” and so on.

And it must be because some people are just too used to pressing button 1 or 2 (maybe on there guardian or warrior greatsword) through the whole game. Well, what do I know.

But to me, the mesmer is the most powerfull profession. In every situation, the mesmer has the abillity to both survive and kill convincingly.
I am playing Sword/Focus and staff and with a shatter focused build, and im absolutely steamrolling through the content while having much more fun than on other professions, because youre constantly doing cool moves.

By the way: When it comes to tagging, I dont think the mesmer is too bad – as long as you have a shatter focused build.
But none the less, it is not a problem with the mesmer or any other profession: It is the tagging system that is the problem.
Too much relies on mindless DPS (especially AoE zerging) in this game. It takes no skill, and ruines the gameplay.

I just want to confirm that this also happened to me:

Game crashed at the end of the ancient karka event, and when i finally logged in, I somehow spawned in the lava and died right away, and no one could res me.

I COULD IN FACT SEE THE REWARD CHEST, but I had to spawn at a waypoint, and when I did, the chest was gone.

Then I tried to login on the forum, but for the last 2 hours it failed…

Im a casual player who aim for skill, not gear. I dislike farming and in particually I dislike magic find gear which goes against Anets own design goal of not just “preparing to have fun”.
So I have almost found nothing worse anything in my whole gameexperience (found no exotics, had to buy it all). And its ok. But now I finally had a chance to get a decent reward without farming in MF gear and then this happens…
As a causal player who do not like to wast too much time on playing games, a whole weekend wasted on nothing is just a bit too much.
Im not angry at Anet and this is not a threat: But if this problem is not solved and we dont get a reward for this event, Im not wasting anymore time on the game. Period.

I dont know what you are talking about. To date i havent played any profession as good as the mesmer at killing 5 or more mobs solo (say in orr) – and doing it fast.

Just dont play like a one button greatsword warrior robot.

Well, if the combo is different from the staff skill, it should have another name.
Or else chaos armor /= chaos armor? Its rather illogical to have two forms of chaos armor.

I can to some extend understand that protection is not applied by deafault when chaos armor is applied. Maybe that would be OP.

But to not have it as a random boon when beeing hit? Why should chaos armor be handicapped. 1) its not logical and 2) it makes the effort of creating combos not worth it. Protection is vital to the use of chaos armor, imo.

I havent seen this bug on the forum yet. So here we go:

When using the skill Chaos Armor, you always get the boon Protection as soon as you use the skill. The rest of the boons and conditions will be applied randomly as you get hit.

Now, if your chaos armor is applied to you from a skill combo (i.e chaos storm + face retreat), the following will happen:

1. protection is NOT applied as soon as you have chaos armor on you.
2. Protection is NEVER applied at all! When you get hit with Chaos Armor on you, you will never get the boon, only the other boons and conditions are applied.

Maybe (1) is intended, dont know. But it must be a major bug that protection is never applied when you get hit.

Because protection is the main reason chaos armor is worth anything, this is really a big problem (especially because I as a mesmer has been so stupid to choose Superior runes of the earth, which only makes sense if chaos armor from skill combos works).
