Wheres the kitten butter for my corn?
passes around the popcorn
lol…
+1 for love, heh
why the heck up to 6 hrs?
Having access to a collection of pixels in a video game does not.
Here. Not legendary. Collection of pixels. Its quite obvious. Its like looking at ferrary and say. “Hah. Who needs ferrary? Its just a blob of junk.”
What exactly is a ferrary?
lol
And considering this is the anniversary right after the Charr treaty was ratified, that’d also count as a special anniversary.
Shhhhhh….. your giving out information about the next LS update….
Right, give me your point of view on this. I’ll listen to what you have to say. Epic heroic story right?
SPOILER ALERT if you don’t want to know what happens in the level 50 quest the battle for claw island.
I just did this quest:
So I go to the fort and speak to 3 people who obviously can’t possible fathom there could be a threat. This is why they are of course important people.
Then a small group attacks and I kill them. Well, not entirey, I kill a group of five undead with about 6 npcs that are with me. A preliminary attack of course.
A cut scene and poof out of nowhere the walls are taken over and a couple of undead ship come up. Ok things are about to get started.
Logically at this point I must abandon the defense of the fort to run to the beach and revive someone so she can tell the guy in the back standing around that we need to light the beacon. Now I dont fight my way there because more undead keep coming so I just run to her and revive and run back, again ignoring any undead. Not helping the poor lionguards out there. She says let’s light he beacon but the dude in the back says no and tells me to kill the undead ship. Right, so one trebuchet hit later the ship is dead and 50 more ships appear. till ignoring all the undead there.
Now all is lost. I run to the lighthouse and light the beacon. I dont fight my way there because there is no point (respawn) and so run up and back to the final stand in the middle. So I tested something. I pulled away from combat and sat down (screenshot is below. 3 minutes later the dragon comes and shatters the wall (I sure didn’t do any fighting, but as I found out I didn’t have to.
So the dragon is here (and I am pretty sure it used to be a fight with the dragon) but we run away back to the ship, again ignoring all undea mobs because there is no point in fighting them.
Of course all of this with the constant blabbering of Trahearne going on and on and on.
Quest completed.
This is rather an important moment in the story I would say and we only get a story mission every few levels. Seriously, how can anyone keep a straight face and call this epic? How?
your pic is epic… lol
Grabs Popcorn
Just a curiousity question for the DEV’s…
From that ‘other mmo’ that is coming out…
Is it possible that we could see some of the character movements that they are doing implemented into GW2?
Just curious if the GW2 Engine could do that….
oh ps.. I like to drink is Pepsi NEXT….
(Not saying the MMO name – but leaving a hint as to the MMO – Everyone knows what it is and Im fully aware that you guys have seen all the videos…. Just wanna know if thats possible to implement into our game.. Cuz it rocks and I would love to see it outdone here)…
where did i put my pipe? lol
Really? You totally misread what I was saying. And if the President and CoFounder of Anet was going to talk about his work… Programming and data definitely wouldn’t be the topic of his conversation.
Sighs
I am an old schooler… Played UO and loved it… It was back before you could use dulfy etc… Hell wiki wasn’t even invented yet. You couldn’t look things up like you can now.
I have played them all. Every MMO that is at least popular.
I will tell you this…. Everyone copied w0w.
What blizzard did put the face of MMO’S on their back.
For once…
It’s nice to see someone give them a run for their money.
Games will now compete with the standards that GW2 sets.
Other games are already doing it now.
And rightfully so.
GW2 hasn’t ruined other MMO’s…
They are a BIG branch in that MMO tree that will make them all better.
hes the president and cofounder.. I bet he says alot.
Im not a kid..
Prolly the same age as him or older….
I for one would like to hear his thoughts and aspirations.
Nah… I’d really like to hear what he has to say…. He puts his pants on just like we do…
And I am not sure hes ever posted on the forums. I could be wrong on that.
One would think that he would be an avid poster here. He took GW1 and turned GW2 into what it is becoming today. President/Founder or not…. I want to hear his thoughts.
I’ve been in chats with Anet during beta that he was a part of for the beta community. But its just like whooosh hes gone now.
Noone else wants to hear from Mike?
sighs
:)
“Mike O’Brien is the president and co-founder of ArenaNet and executive producer of its games Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.1 He led the design and content creation teams of the original Guild Wars.2
Before co-founding ArenaNet, he worked as a company director and a lead programmer at Blizzard Entertainment where he developed the 3D rendering engine of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and led the development of Battle.net. He also worked on Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Diablo and StarCraft, where he, among other things, designed and created the MPQ archives used in all Blizzard games after Diablo. Mike O’Brien was featured as one of the most influential people in the computer and video game industry on PC Gamer’s September 1999 cover story “Game Gods”.
O’Brien also previously developed an Apple II emulator for Windows, AppleWin, and old DOS ASCII game, Pyro 2."
Noone is curious as to his thoughts on the state of the game? His aspirations? Goals with the game??? The direction he want to see it take?
He seems like a pretty down to earth guy to me….
Just wondering why we dont hear from him…..
Does anyone ever wonder why we never hear from him?
Just askin……
i need to retune the strings on my violin.
my goodness… Im pretty sure the living team groups are watching this thread as well as others like a hawk… The way you people make it sound you all have a flaming guildwars logo tattooed to your….. um bum? heh…
but if they are reading… and you know they are.. im sure your posts will go into their development process.
So where do I get my tattoo? heh
heh.. sweetness.. FIRST!
We have mini-games now…. That is good.. When the game launched we really didnt have squat like the videos talked about.. We have jumping puzzles… A million of them. I dont like them personally, but occasionally I will do them. It is different for me….. Anthony – lets get back to the dynamic events. Thats where the living story personnel should be focusing. We want perma content. Temp content is good too when balanced. But if we are talking about a true ‘living story’ here, then strong, rewarding dynamic events are the way to go. IMHO…
OP, I really enjoy this game. I love the new content. You’re right. No MMO has ever done what Anet is doing. Some people like it, some people don’t.
I’m pretty sure those that like it spend more time in game than on the forums.
Enumerate just what GW2 has done, that hasn’t been done before. There isn’t much.
Again Vayne, I question your overall knowledge of the genre.
GW1 is unique. GW2 is everymmo stuffed into a very artistic package.
Interesting statement. Let me see now, John Smedley, CEO of SOE, said “people who like the new game are playing it, and not on the forums” … when NGE lost a ton of subcriptions to SWG and forced them to refund the cost of an expansion to anyone that asked for it. That statement has been made too much, and means nothing.
GW2 is a good game. Or, not so good, depending on your tastes. It is not the be-all, end-all of gaming.
As far as thanking them? They provide a service I paid for. So does my garbage company, my power company, my IP provider, etc. I don’t “thank” them unless they address an issue for me. I’ll thank ANET customer service if they do the same.
I can name a lot of things Gw2 has done that other games have no.
A Living breathing world that actually changes in meaningful ways. No other MMO that I am aware of has questing in which NPCs involved in those quests act out the story they’re part off. Take the Harathi Hinterlands as a prime example of this. together with the NPCs involved you can literally push the centaurs out and take control of the entire map. Many outpost can literally change hands and you actual see it happen, you’re part of it. That content is like a major part of the game at least 80% of it so that alone is a lot. but there is more.
Freedom of choice. if you got a goal. Legendary, Exotic Armor , Exotic weapon etc.. you’re free to go about it as you wish. You can engage in events, craft, do dungeons, engage in PvP, Explore, Level up Alts. do dailies whatever… you can then use whatever you earn from any of those activities and use it to you get your chosen reward. Most MMOs the prestige things like a legendary weapon can only be gotten by repeating high level raids that to get to you need to finish other raids forcing you to repeat the same content essentially.
Meaningful Exploration, thats also missing from most MMOs… I mean even little things like coming across a well hidden quagen who’s like surprised to see and wonders how you found his secret spot!
New content to play every 2 weeks
A ton of Mini games all the time
the Living story, I think Acheron’s call might have had this to be fully honest (never played it myself) but anyhow its still extremely rare to have a progressive story that changes things in its wake and evolves.
A combat system that allows you to react to the situation without artificially limiting you a specific role. I love the fact you can properly address a situation. I am safe right now and my team is safe so I will focus on damaging the enemy. My team has aggro but I am safe, I will focus on supporting them. a team member is about to die so I will focus on interrupting his attacker to allow them to escape. I am in trouble so I will now act to ensure my survival etc… etc.. In most other MMOs you have a specific role and no matter what situation you’re in that all you can do. You’re a dps and you team mate is in peril? too bad you cant support them you can only dps.
I could go on but there is a 5k character limit.
smiles
I’m sure they loved reading you say all that… And thanks for doing so!!!
Better question, is it possible for these weeds to stop sprouting up and trying to cause unnecessary drama for no reason?
you are on a forum.
Labeling feedback you don t like, drama and just accepting compliments its not much democratic nor useful.
Gather feedback, see the reasons behind things and see if they are acceptable or baseless trolling.
You can even ignore the part “i like/dislike this….” and just read the part “because XYZ”
But just saying if you don t agree with me you are a whiner is just useless and unrespectful.
My post was directed towards the OP >.>
Towards me? Really? Your wanting what to ‘what’ to stop sprouting up? For people to thank Anet? I would have to question your age or intellect…
You decide.
OP, I really enjoy this game. I love the new content. You’re right. No MMO has ever done what Anet is doing. Some people like it, some people don’t.
I’m pretty sure those that like it spend more time in game than on the forums.
Again… I agree
So tired of reading all the kittening about.. how this sucks.. or I want this… Or do this.. Or do that…. Can’t you people appreciate the fact that your playing the best MMO out there?
I can understand the fact that you want them to excel….
But really?
Can you people say thanks? Is it that flippin hard?
Just Sayin…..
That is all….
It’s far from wrong for a customer to express disappointment or concern over his purchase. There is a very right way of expressing it, though, and sadly most have a hard time with it.

I think, in this case, the customer (us) have a greater right to express disappointment and concern about the direction of the game, because, for many of us, the cost is ongoing.
ArenaNet has received about 75% of my gaming dollar since I started playing in October. Assuming that ArenaNet like my continued support and wants to continue to receive the vast majority of my gaming budget it’s more than reasonable for me to discuss things that I see as concerning. Things that, if left unchecked, I believe will cause me to take my business elsewhere.
Otherwise, if no one provides feedback, someday ArenaNet may be left with a lot less income and wondering where all the people went.
That said, most of the game is awesome. The parts that aren’t, I understand why they aren’t even if I disagree.
tl;dr: This isn’t a book I purchased, a movie, or even a stand alone game, even without a subscription I have an ongoing consumer relationship with ANet; I give then a semi-regular income and consequently I am entitled to provide feedback and critique.
Not really the point of my post
Im tired of people kittening and I know it will continue….
Just give the guys some props….
@OP
I understand what you mean. At the same time Im reminding you that GW2 isnt perfect, we live in a total new era than UO years where people now expect more. I for instance dont understand why there arnt multi-trait specs that you can save for different situation.
Without the constant negativity or feedback, devs wont always be on their toes. And as you said, you’re 41 years old, the youngsters might not be into what old grams prefer. That is the beauty of it, we all want different things, but it is hard to fulfill every heart. GW2 is indeed the better MMORPG out there, but keeping it like that is a constant adventure in todays market.
:) /agreed
:) agreed!!!!!
you have the DEV’s actually listening to us…
I’d like to direct you to ascended FEEDBACK from players they are listening……
Not to mention a long list of major issues they should fix with little effort like pve balance and stuff.
GW2 is one of the best game i played handled in the worst way i ever seen.
Possibly because the team who developed the game its not the same running it today if i heard correctly.
Really? I’m not even going to respond to that – cuz you sir, don’t have a clue….
watch this space
im 41 years old… Alot of you grew up with Ultima Online etc… It just shocks me how you have the best MMO out there….. hands down – and not only that.. you have the DEV’s actually listening to us…
Don’t give me crap about how when you feel it’s warranted…
Yes they want to hear what we think… But the majority of the norm seems to be how people are kittening….
Go pay for a game I say…. There’s tons out there…
Whatever anyone says.. This is….. The next generation MMO that others will base their game upon… Others are doing it now….
I don’t care if you kitten….
Just give these people a reason to continue to do what they do best….
And that is nothing more than a thank you and your reason why…..
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Am I a fanboi??? I guess am….
Because I haven’t ever seen a company do what they do with a MMO….
And NEITHER HAVE ANY OF YOU!!!
Sheesh people… kitten at me if you want…. But Anet deserves our thanks more than our kittenes for what they have done for the MMO industry….
We have waited how many years for this game to come out?
And don’t give me that crap about how ‘you complain’ so thakittens better….
I understand constructive criticism.
C’mon guys…..
They deserve better than this…. And you know they read this stuff.
For real…. You peops sometimes amaze me. With all the negativity it would be hard pressed for me to stay positive if I worked for Anet. So ungrateful with more negative to say than positive.
flame on

thanks 4 the info… but i highly doubt it’s the case…. Anet is on here responding all the time….
I would suggest adding a fee to all portals (including from the WvW and PvP Mysts) that lead to Lion’s Arch, provided the player has not been in the Mysts for less than 3 minutes.
This would stop the free teleport abuse, and not inconvenience ‘genuine’ Mysts players.
You don’t think ‘genuine’ WvW players would be inconvenienced if they couldn’t get into WvW because it was full.. of people waiting out their 3 minute timer?
Free travel to the character’s home city would be awesome.
Agreed. We can already go to LA for free, and by extension any of the home cities with just a few extra seconds by using the free way point to the portal area.
So I think they should have a warp to LA button and a warp to hometown button.
Actually, I think it would be better to have a warp to hometown but not a warp to LA. That would spread people out into the currently quite empty hometowns (to craft, bank, etc.), and you would take the extra step into LA if you wanted e.g. the Forge.
i actually agree with this….
More on advice, really. I find my self going from character to character, deleting one after another. I finally landed on Guardian for the second time, this time I’m leveling it up and trying to stay attached. I had a Ranger at level 75, but just got bored for some reason, ( no offense to the Rangers here ).
Of course starting all over again, which is my fault of course, would anyone have any suggestions to get me that much more involved into the profession I’m playing?
I harvest all I can, do all the events I can, as well as the story line. I love the game, I would love to hear what some of you do to level quickly, or just to have fun!
ummmm… you went to 75 and deleted it? hmmm
next…..
sighs since your all paying a monthly fee
Can’t we all just enjoy what they are doing instead of saying what ‘I’ want???
That is all…..
Flame on…
vill was right… think mayhaps Anet overlooked that one…
No.. Your face is funny. It’s like a little raisin.
Pff, now watch some Moderator will come in here, not knowing where that came from, and hand you an infraction for saying that to another player.
if the moderator knew about the game so should you…. cuz he was stating what the game says…. duh
Zafer, I suggest you look for my last post in this game and ask yourself is it fair that millions of people lost the upgrades to their game, in order to play this one due to Anet’s decision.
Many people here would have preferred the planned Guild Wars 1 expansion to Guild Wars 2. Many feel this isn’t fair at all.
care to elaborate? bet you have ‘many’ ‘many’ to back up what you stated….
coughs
You can always block and unblock them as needed…
they can still see where you are, and further more, now it is worse because they know you are blocking them when they see “User has blocked you” pops up…..
once again, this is not the solution.
Let me put this into perspective:
Imagine facebook logs you in in any place you are whether you want it or not, and suddenly EVERYONE who has a facebook account can see where you are and have access to your phone number and can call you for free, and even show up in the place. Sure, if it is a stalker you can call the police, if it is a close family member you can tell them to buzz off. But for friends and others it doesnt work like this.
I dont know why some of you dont understand this; privacy is important, I should have more power on who I interact with.
Ya thats not the same thing… a player doesn’t get personal info ABOUT YOUR REAL LIFE ADDRESS/PHONE/ or anything that could otherwise be used to stalk you or cause you harm in reality.
Its a game if they want to waste their time following you around then so be it… why does it bother you so much? are they causing you problems? Causing you any physical/mental harm?
NO they are not. Simply block them so they cant chat with you and go about your business if they follow you around don’t pay any attention they will get bored and leave eventually.
none of that matters…. systems need to be in place… before you TLDR your response post…. read the thing….
kitten people… let them run the game….
So tired of seeing this stuff…
Let Anet do what they do….
Flame me… I don’t care….
Stop being so demanding and let them work.. sheeesh…
really? <— that’s what I say to you flamers……
how is this relevant to the GW2 Discussion forum?
I don’t think the limit is 20:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/The-Official-Golem-Picture-Gallery/first#post2444627
those pics were definitely OP.
got a good laugh
World vs world… Anet, fix this
lol… Priceless…
To the OP: lol
that is all…..
This wouldn’t happen if Anet would give us more than 1 way to make decent gold in this game. What, am I supposed to do world bosses for 5 months until I can afford that 1 weapon I want? Give me a break. Farming monsters in Orr for 1 hour will barely give you 1 gold. Farming icebrood in frostgorge will give you a corrupted lodestone once every 3 hours.
Sure the farmers telling you to leave is wrong, but they’re in the same position as you most likely. They have a goal and they want to achieve it. It just so happens thanks to nerfnet, both parties have limited opportunities in achieving said goals.
had to lol @ the nerfnet thing.
caught me off guard with that one….
just sayin…… heh
w0w… reading all this stuff just made me lose 200 achievement points in game.
/facepalm
Scott – that is the way to go! Hopefully you can continue that sort of thing.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/canachs-story-an-after-hours-meeting/?utm_source=client
Is this a new approach???
Because for me…. for once…. that was submersive….
It was like it came from a book….
Anyone else feel that vibe?
I dont post often, if ever.
I just wanted to say thank you for this event. I had a blast and hope to see many more like this!
Job well done! It was nice seeing us actually fail at something and have to work together!
Thanks again – and thanks for bringing us such a great game!
