Discussion: Why people think Eles is Op?

in PvP

I agree that Eles is in a Good Place but No Where is OP like most people complaining.

@ahuba:
-Best pblank AOE Dam : No comment on this because I think the roles of Eles that Anet want is to soften a number of Mobs for the pt to kill and plus I don’t know any other class that has AOE as many as Eles does. But, since that is our roles and Anet does not give us so many Option for Solo Skil, so we have no choice but to adapt it. The action Anet should be taken is to give other class some AOE, not Nerf AOE dams.

-Best Boons Sharing: Anet has designed Eles to be as Support Role. What else can we do as Support role with no Boon Sharing? And I think Engineer is better on this than us. Except Fury, Might, all of other boons, I believe is not useful in Melee Combat. And yes we need Vigor, Renegeration, Protection because we are LOWEST HP pool AND LOWEST Armor among all

-Best AOE Condition Cleaning: I belive only Water 5 in Dagger, and Water 5 in Staff that ACTUALLY AOE condition Cleaning, and by switching Attunement. Even so, Staff is not as good as Dagger in sPVP. That’s why people play D/D. Cleansing Flame and other Trait only applied to ELES himself. And Yes we do Need Conditon Cleaning because we have the LOWEST HP pool among all. Without it, we are DEAD.

-Best AOE party healing: Most of Eles that spec into 30 in Water which give +300 Healing power, that is why we heal so much. Read of my post about Healing to understand why. And Anet makes Eles as support role, think Eles like Healer in other MMO.

-2nd Best Holding Point: Sorry, I disagree with u on this. On my top list, Guard, and Engineer can do this job Better than ANYBODY. To Hold a Point, you need to stay inside the circle and knock opponent out of Circle, so what do we have? UPDRAFT? That’s it, only Updraft.. While Guard with their Shield Buble knock u down and give no access to the circle, Engine with all the Turret that Immbolize and guarding the Area, Shield 4. So on this matter, Guard and Engineer is the best candidates.

-Best 1vs1 Class: Again, most Eles spec for Bunker which is 0/10/0/30/30. And Bunker means to Survive more than 1+ enemy at anytime given. However, downside is, their Dams is so kitten. And by Kitten, I mean Really Kitten. If u are defeated by an Eles on 1vs1, either he is not Bunker Build or he is a very skill player. Rewarding for being Skillfully play which I find is fair enough. And I think Mesmer is Way Better than us on this matter.

-Mobility: I say Good, not Best. Reason why? Please read my post. Just a kind Reminder, with Lowest Health Pool and Lowest Armor and being Forced to Meelee, how else we can survive except mobility? Even then, all we have is RtL. Why RtL is Good but not Godly, pls read my post again. I am all ear if you have any new Suggestion on that matter.

-Good cd? You mean Crowd Control? Right, all we have is Updraft and Earthquake, what else do we have which you can think of, pls tell?

-Highest Room for Error in any class: Again, most Eles is Bunker Build, Bunker is what I understand you know. I believe EVERY class can do the same IF they spec as Bunker.

And Yes, I see all the patter you given and all of that I have explained on my post………

Yep, thats why ele’s are really, really good. Good summary all in all. Only thing you forgot that I can think of is that they stack. Another best at

Team play ele’s are phenomenal. 1v1 you can’t kill a good ele, they won’t let you. Good, OP….whatever, they are definately a top tier class by a far margin.

Quit moaning about monthly/dailys

I’ve never really been a fan of daily tasks honestly.

If it were up to me, dailies would be totally based upon what the player wants to do.

Say you log on, and all you want to do is check out the TP, or maybe you want to go run a couple dungeons, no prob! If that’s not your cup of tea, no worries. You could do some map exploration, level some alts, or play some pvp. Anyone could do any of these and still be credited with daily rewards, and it’s really pretty simple.

Currently, the average daily shouldn’t take more than an hour for even the most casual players. So, instead of making dailies requiring to do x, y, and z…just simply make them time based.

You log in and play for one hour, and do what YOU the player wants to do. Congratulations!! You just earned your daily.

Problem solved

LOL, NOOOO!!!!

That is just rediculous. So how long should the monthly take? 30 hours? The daily/monthly gives us something to do. It isn’t that hard and you get stuff while you are doing them. Not sure why they are a big deal.

That’s totally fair, and I understand, but I still disagree.

The way I see dailies are different. In sense, they are a perk to log on each day. For every new reset, the daily rewards are re-available to everyone who decides to log in and play the game. I wouldn’t want to generalize about ANET’s overall master plan, but I’m sure, somewhere within that plan, players logging in is most definitely in there!

Make dailies time-based. It opens the incentive to every type of player out there. Even that “guy” who all they do is log in, puts on his town clothes, and dances for 2 hours a day…..yes, even that guy is appreciated!

The person who logs in and runs 20 dungeons, and falls asleep on there keyboard.

The person who spends all day harvesting and enjoys to brew up all sorts of tasty treats.

Call it player appreciation, or whatever, just don’t call it player satisfaction because we all know that’s impossible. :p

I wish I could respond about your monthly assumption Ruprect, but I have no idea, and hadn’t thought about it honestly.

zerker elitist in COF

I’ve never been asked to link my armor for any CoF run. Granted I do have a zerk set, and another build i swap over. If someone ever did ask me to link, here is what I’d do:

I would slowly link all my armor piece by piece, and then immediately after, ask him to link all his armor. Once it’s done and everything is settled, feel free to drop group and find a different one.

Nothing rage’s out “elitist” mentality like wasting a lot of there time, and then dropping group.

Optimal CoF P1 time

Been running those a while now. 3War 2Mez in my experience is the most efficient group make up.

Although, while it’s very nice to see how fast you can do it, after doing it enough times……it turns out, there really is a grey area in how fast is too fast.

Mainly, you start stopwatching runs from the gate, and if you dip below 6m you end up with time warp cd issues once you start the next run.

I’m just wondering if anyone has actually worked out some of the math on this. Seems like 6m5-15~s is about the most ideal/optimal run speed before you start running into cd issues.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

Speaking of gems to gold exchange….

100gems today is worth about what 66gems were yesterday, lol.

Seems a bit unlikely that in 24hrs gems would lose 1/3rd of there value.

Cores and Lodestones

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: kurtdg.2370

I know I’m new this this whole market game, and I’m sure that somewhere there are more than likely some significant factoids lingering about, in an likely undiscovered void, that hasn’t penetrated my extremely rough understanding in the freakonomics of the BLTC.

With the albeit understanding that I’ve recently ran a muck…..as far as what kinds of lodestones are required for a particular product (legendaries, ascalonian gear, whatnot), it seems pretty clear that charged lodestones are the most greatest demanded.

From what I’ve gathered, and why, mainly comes from what they are used for. Some of the highest priced items, and coincidentally, the most sought after items in the game require them. And, that all makes sense.

With that said, I understand why charged cores/lodestones cost more than other cores/lodestones. Greater demand = people will buy more of them = prices will only keep getting higher until either equilibrium is met, or supply > demand.

Again, with that said, and finally!.. my problem. I’ve been running fractals pretty religiously lately, and at least from my own perspective…I’ve been getting about as close as you can get to a pretty equal distribution of all core/lodestones. One specific core/lodestone does not seem to drop at any better rate than any other.

So, with that at least that in mind, it would seem that the supply of every different type of core/lodestone should be fairly equal…..in terms of acquisition. Sure, some people will farm specific areas that may only yield specific cores/lodestones, but I think in the end that probably all evens out as well.

Factor in the demand, and charged cores/lodestones will be worth more as they are more desirable. But how much more desirable is the question I’m wondering?

Currently (checking as I’m typing), the price of the lowest core is the Glacial, and highest core is the Charged:

Glacial = 7s to purchase. Charged = 1g50s to purchase.
That’s a factor of approx 22 Glacial Core = 1 Charged Core. 22:1

Do 22 people want/need a charged core more than a glacial when they have the same exactly drop rate? It seems a bit crazy, as there are nearly 1/3 of that number in classes.

So I guess what I’m wondering is…….when I get these (seemingly worthless) cores/lodestones that nobody wants, can I at least…..mabye at some point, do something where I can exchange them into a different type of core/lodestone?

I think it’s a fine system honestly. Someone mentioned the slot-machine analogy earlier, and that is pretty much exactly how it is. However; if you don’t like gambling, you don’t have to plug items in the mystic forge. There is always the option to buy it (as everyone has been saying).

But it’s not a slot machine. In a slot machine you have a chance at getting lesser prizes every now and then to nudge you forwards and remind you that the bigger prizes are always just around the corner. In this system it’s all or nothing. Either you hit the jackpot or you lose everything. There’s no carrot every now and then to keep you coming back.

I think your totally wrong here. I’ve donated my fair share into the mystic forge and came out with quite a few nice items to boot. Some I use, and will be using once I lvl up my alts. Granted, I lose a lot more than I’ve won, but that is, in essence, exactly how the mystic forge is designed to work. So, yes! The mystic forge is exactly like a slot-machine.

Think of it like this:

Consider each 80 rare you put into the forge as a quarter, and you need 4 quarters in order to pull the lever and activate the slot-machine. With each pull, you are guaranteed at least a quarter back. You also have a chance to win a dollar (an item equivalent to 4 rares), 2 dollars, 5 dollars, or the Grand Prize…..with each larger payout being less likely to happen.

Exactly like a slot machine.

So you can either gamble for it, or buy it. You have two entirely different options that lead to the same result. If you find these two options are too unreasonable or unacceptable, then maybe a legendary weapon is not as high on your priority list than it should be.

As far as the people who exploited, I feel the same way as everyone else. Go all IRS on them, old school gangster….. or whatever kids these days call it.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but in PvP matches, I’ve been noticing that at the beginning of a new match, my life force will be completely drained even though I had life force remaining at the end of the previous match.

It doesn’t always drain it, but it does seem to happen quite frequently.

Can you build a solid DPS Necro with no pets?

in Necromancer

Posted by: kurtdg.2370

kurtdg.2370

I’ve read these forums quite a bit lately and the one, withstanding, re-occurring theme has been stuff about kittens. Seriously, just buy one already and be done with it.

Solid DPS Necro? Well compared to other classes we are definitely no where near what might be considered solid. Generally longer fights in my experience for the most part. If you decide to run a precision/power build, it does help with dps, but it’s not exactly what I would refer to as solid. If only we had reliable minions to compensate for the disparity yea?

Even Necro’s can dream…right?

PvP-wise, you probably don’t even want pets. Maybe a flesh golem…and hope it does something, although; I’d rather have a more reliable skill that I know will work. The Necro definitely isn’t designed for solid dps. Took me a while to figure it out, but once I did, I started to tailor my style towards the strengths of the class.

It’s still imo one of the more advanced classes to play. There’s a lot more work involved in figuring things out than, say, your average mezmer or thief.

The one bit of advice I would give to you if you’re looking for dps is to scrap the axe.
