Who doesn’t like opening a dozen bags for 20 pieces of green trash loot?
Tangled Depths might be a nightmare but at least it has character. Dragon’s Stand is just a big forest with 3 roads cutting through it, and if no one is running the meta event the whole zone is practically closed off.
You mean an elite spec is better than a generic one? No way! Druids heal better than Guardians, nerf Druids plz!
If only Rangers had a pet to set off the traps. Why would you even be close enough anyways? Ranger longbow has a longer range than DH, send in pet, stay out of range, rapid fire, pew pew. Easy peasy.
Seriously, what is it with Rangers and bad players? It seems like half the complaining on this board is from Rangers.
Elites are not meant to be better. It’s elite because you only get one. Like you get one elite skill. For the future when there’s more elite specs. Stop this nonsense kids.
Well, they are. Druid heals are better than Guardian heals, Scrapper hammer is better than Guardian hammer, Reaper greatsword is better than Guardian GS, Herald buffs are better than Guardian buffs, etc.
Yet the class that overwhelmingly whines that they don’t have the best of absolutely everything are Rangers. I’d wager nearly every DH in the game would happily trade traps for Rapid Fire alone.

It really depends.
If I’m in a full zone with players who know what they’re doing: 9
If I’m in a full zone with players who don’t know what they’re doing: 6
If I’m in an empty zone with few players at all: 3
Most of people who like expac are playing expac.
Then why are the zones so empty?
So impeccably designed its led to empty ghost town zones 4 days after launch.
I have to admit, the more I play they more I’m liking DH. At first I was playing like a boring turret until I figured out how the pierce aspect works. Now I’m running around like crazy lining up trick shots and unleashing rivers of 5k+ crits through hordes of mobs.
They had to put up giant walls to disguise just how paper thin this expansion really is. If it wasn’t for the brain numbing mastery grind people would be done with Maguuma in a day or two.
I’m not playing until the old system of getting gold and leveling is returned.
They don’t want you to get gold, they want you to buy it with gems.
Unblockable, undodgeable one shots
What a game
If you’re getting one shot, you’re either doing something wrong or need to change your gear.
Any suggestions on gear to add 1.4 million HP?
No, the irony is how many people complained that they had nothing left to improve on their characters after reaching level 80 and the lack of “end game” content. Now there is an expansion that is essentially only end game content with constant things to earn for your character and people complain about that.
Gimmick abilities you’ll only use a handful of times is not progression, or content. Once you have your hero points there is literally zero reason to step foot in Maguuma ever again, all of those masteries and abilities you had to grind millions of xp for become useless.

By the time you’ve completed them and you can actually travel across the new zones without running into brick walls around every corner, you’ll have already seen everything there is to see, you’ll have already played through all of the events, you’ll have already played through the content. You’ll have to grind so much xp, that by the time you’re done, you’ll never want to step foot in there again, so it ends up being all for nothing.

My big gripe is not that Elite Spec costs hero points, it’s that they far more hero points than the abilities granted are worth! You are paying as much for 1 trait line and a small number of skills as you pay to unlock ALL other skills and traits. For that comparative cost, the Elite Specs should be so OP that you would HAVE to play them to be competitive.
Setting the cost to 2x or even 3x normal for a trait line (120 or 180 HP) would be reasonable. Over 6 1/2 times the cost of a full trait line? Are ANY Elite Specs good enough to justify that cost?
This annoys me to no end. I have to grind millions of xp, to be able to stand in poison, to be able to unlock hero points, to be able to gain a trait that adds a whopping two whole seconds to Shield of Courage, a trait I do not want and will never use.
Just brilliant design here. For the first time in a long time I don’t have the desire to play anymore. These specs are too generic for the cost and are often no better than what you already have.
I for one am really happy that new maps are so…platformish
no regrets
Why do people feeld they MUST get what they want HERE AND NOW?
People bought Heart of Thorns because they wanted to play with elite specializations.
People did not buy Heart of Thorns because they wanted to play Super Mario Bros.
There is a difference between hard and tedious. Masteries/elites aren’t hard, they’re tedious. Incredibly so. Finishing a mastery level doesn’t give you a rewarding feeling, it makes you think “thank God thats over with”.
Then you get to do it several more times.
Agreed. The new zones are such a chore to navigate I don’t feel like playing anymore. I can appreciate how much work went into creating them, but locking everything behind masteries that will take millions of xp was about the worst decision they could possibly make.

The saddest thing of all is that many of the elite specs aren’t worth the trouble. For the amount of time & effort required they should be total game changers, but unless you’re a Necro, Mesmer or Revenant, they’re more of a novelty than a necessity.
It doesn’t really suck, its just.. boring? Mediocre? Theres certainly nothing “elite” about it.
