Anet does not want you to earn Candy Corn rewards during halloween. This is why the price is so high. “1,000 candy corn to make one Candy Corn Cob”
Instead they want you to do the meta. To earn a Candy Corn node for your home instance. Then Candy Corn and other Halloween crafting materials will be in smaller steady supple year round.
“Get yourself some sweet rewards by participating in Blood and Madness content! Complete the Blood and Madness meta achievement to receive a Mini Candy Corn Elemental , and follow the storyline for a Candy Corn node for your home instance!”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/october-15-2013/Anet must planing to time gate these items so they can take multiple years for players to earn.
Actually, unfortunately, I have to say you are wrong, since the guy able to transform candy corn in to the cobs is going to be gone as of November 12 according to a dev.
The node is mearly for the ability to craft the other items that don’t need the “refined” items.
“but I can’t comprehend how it took people hours to do this JP (no offense)”
I tell you mate.
Last year there was as many ppl on platforms as many wanted to do the clocktower. So there wasn’t only 5 ppl on the platforms, it was mostly at least 10-15. It was really crowded. Also the FPS drop issues on a few jumps + lots of ppl rendering them made it worser.
+ Lots of norns like me blocked their view and they couldn’t see where to jump.
So basically zerg jumped from platform to platform and it was hard to see what’s happening and how.
This is a perfect description of the problems.
It was impossible to see where your character was, and there was no reasonable time of day to do it “alone”.
I always said I wished they had given a private instance where you could “figure it out” without any chests or rewards or titles, so that you could at least see how it is done if they were so set on it being a zergish mentality.
I had serious problems, as it was the first time I can think of that had a time pressure to the jumping puzzle that you didn’t have somewhere you could “rest” to figure out the timing, you litterally had to keep blindly jumping. I got far a couple times if I could out jump the zerg, but the pressure to keep going non stop was what would end up killing me, either falling off, missing the jump backwards, etc.
Last year, my fiance did it many times, but I don’t like jumping puzzles in the least, I do them, but I detest them. Now, after having been in WvW settings and intense battles in that regard, and my eye being trained to see my character, and the fact that it isn’t so “crowded” now, I think the jumping puzzle might be more reasonable for me to do.
It really is about point of view. Last year it was so different, and the conditions were less than optimal for many. This year it’s less drastic cause we know what to expect, and fewer are trying at a time at that (based solely on the new videos I have seen posted of it).
kitten it. I just crafted my own 20 slot bags. Cheaper than this candy corn stuff.
Heck yeah, and who cares if it is a halloween pail or a box or a bag, it’s the space that matters. No one can even see what you have for a bag/storage.
You can just go into the labyrinth and do the door events with the zerg.
Some of us don’t want to be forced to run with a ZERG to do a holiday event. Zerg is WvW, shouldn’t be forced in PvE events. Unfortunately, you probably are right for that being the only way to do it, as I haven’t managed to get a PvE open world one to work properly.
Once again, GJ ArenaNet (dripping sarcasm)
What about black lion chests? Are they going to be updated with new Halloween items content?
The description said it was updated with Halloween items:
Black Lion Chest Addition!
In honor of the holiday, I’ve updated all of our Black Lion Chests: Now, every chest you open is guaranteed to include a Trick-or-Treat bag in addition to all of the other prizes it awards!
However, I haven’t opened on for confirmation, and considering the way ArenaNet has been going with the track record I wouldn’t put it past them to have screwed it up as well. Good luck trying.
I have found a total of 2 open world nodes for candy corn.
Last year it seems to me that the candy corn nodes had a different icon, but this time they still have the same icon as ores. You have to actually go to the node to find out, but I found a couple around the bandit cave in the south west corner of Queensdale, but no where else yet.
Considering there is a need of 100k candy corn for the skins, this has been an atrocious balance of gatherable/door events.
The doors seem a bit harder to figure out this year than last year. A hint for the Enter issue: Set your aoe loot key to something other than F. Tap that to loot after any fight you ever have. It will grab loot you didn’t even know was there, and will not proc any action with doors, npcs, rezzing, etc. I have mine on J.
Also take a quick moment to check that it doesn’t say “Enter” on your popup, because hitting F if it does is — as you noted — a one way trip to the Labyrinth and you don’t return to where you were, you get to LA instead. If you weren’t done in your zone, that’s annoying and costs WP money. Poor design but at least with some caution on the player’s part, along with never hitting F near a door unless you see “trick or treat” as the option, the surprise portal can be avoided
All good points and suggestions, I won’t discount that, but honestly – they claim these changes that were done in the balancing patch part up the update were “quality of life” changes, it seems that something that is going to be so “repetitive” would be easy to provide a simple popup like they do when you salvage a rare/exotic, etc. that simply says something like “do you want to enter the mad king’s realm”.
My big complaint about this whole event is how it feels half-sussed through. I don’t think they really thought through this whole event.
It’s the first day, but first impressions are “everything”.
You have actually found doors that generate the event???
I have opened no fewer that 20 doors now, 3 of them spawned 1 enemy that didn’t give me a trick or treat bag, and didn’t count up the event. The rest just gave me a trick or treat bag (and didn’t tick up the event), they seem to all spawn and despawn in the same 30 seconds where I have actually managed to locate a small selection of doors, and every one of them just go to the boatman. I did the lunatic labyrinth and never found a door in there.
So far, while I had a bit of fun last year, this has been the most poorly prepped, biggest money sucking, unsatisfactory, and clunky awkward events and it’s only been going a day. I can’t say I’m enjoying this even in the slightest.
Zhaitaffy vendor never left. Hes standing by the Laurel vendor in LA.
Not anymore. He’s been replaced by the Candy Corn Cob vendor.
There are daily achievements which contribute to the Blood and Madness meta. Today I think it’s eating 50 candy and carving 5 pumpkins? Just look in the daily achievements and you’ll spot them.
Thanks. I didn’t realize those counted since they aren’t listed under the Blood and Madness.
(edited by magicweaver.2695)
I am looking at the Blood and Madness achievement requirements.
First of all, there are only 12 achievements listed.
I am seeing only 8 achievements that are actually attainable (A Royal Tradition, A Stomping Good Time, Bone Breaker, Candy Corn Crusher, Containment, Death to the Undying, Shut the Doors, and Something Good To Eat.) As I read it, the first one “A Sweet Friend” says you have to complete 13 achievements to complete it, and 3 others will come open and that leaves a total of 8, because 4 are inaccessible.
Can someone explain to me where the remaining 5 achievements are to be able to complete “A Sweet Friend” to then be able to access the final listed 3 of “An Upset Stomach”, “Beaten Bloody”, and “You, back in the box”.
There is nothing (nor have there been) anything that says that they would preview the new Halloween event.
Hence my post stating that it was misleading.
“DEVELOPER LIVESTREAM – OCTOBER 14
Take a spooky sneak peek at the Blood and Madness release with ArenaNet devs during the preview livestream on our Twitch channel on Monday, October 14 at 12PM PDT.”It is impossible to read that text without coming away thinking that you would get a preview of the Haloween content.
I am not actually upset about not getting a Halloween preview I am quite capable of waiting a day, I am only slightly irked from being mislead. If the text stated PvP balance preview I would not have an issue at all.
I agree completely. I scheduled a break for work to be able to see it to adjust for the timezone, and honestly I could have used my break more enjoyable because honestly class *in*balancing and skill nerfs are nothing I can affect and not something I was anxious to spend my time watching. Some people would have liked to watch, but those same people would have watched if it said “get a sneak peek at our pvp balancing” or something similar.
I assume you mean the `royal we´.
I, and I am sure many others do not use facebook as such I only have the info provided by the official release page.
Which would mean that you simply misunderstood what they actually wrote on the release page
. There is nothing (nor have there been) anything that says that they would preview the new Halloween event.
“Spooky sneak peek” was pretty misleading when it was just a balance preview.
This! AMEN! As I said, need better content writers to not mislead the constituency.
No, that isn’t what was promised.
Nothing said about balancing or anything at the top of the advert and it said (quoted)
DEVELOPER LIVESTREAM – OCTOBER 14
Take a spooky sneak peek at the Blood and Madness release with ArenaNet devs during the preview livestream on our Twitch channel on Monday, October 14 at 12PM PDT.
Then it went into rewards (still about Halloween stuff until the last one about WvW)
THEN (far separated from the details) it went into balance changes and quality of life fixes. These are merely part of the data patch, not the Blood and Madness event. While they are important, they are not effects of the release and could have been done any week.
So, they need better writers for content, or they need to own up and do the sneak peek that was promised (of which I know neither will happen – but doesn’t change the need)
I’ll just leave this.
Cool! thanks, at least it’s something to go off of!
At least a little common courtesy to acknowledging the MANY people asking about that would have been nice. Seems once again the “lalala I cant see or hear you lalala” syndrome was very prevalent.
Unfortunately, and very sadly, this is true.
Last year it centered around Lion’s Arch.
They did a pretty good job of keeping you directed, and now that there is heralds they may be integral to keeping up with where things are happening.
The doors opened randomly around the human area (I stayed in Queensland) but there may have been some in other race areas. Then the mad king stuff (tower, lunatic inquisition, etc.) was (if I remember right) through one of the specialty npcs (like do the daily activities now).
Don’t know what they plan this year – since they ignored the promised sneak peek, but based off last year, that’s what I am starting with.
I was more interested in the halloween stuff. The other stuff I could have easily read off the patch notes :/
Me too. The only thing that was something I think the livestream was useful for is displaying the condition floaters and showing how to turn them off (if desired).
Everything else was easily gathered from patch notes and they didn’t even cover everything to make that be their reasoning.
Yes, they are part of it, but not the part that was advertised to be shown. The live stream ad came before any description of the class changes, and yet was totally left out.
I understand why in the spvp area – that makes sense, what doesn’t make sense is how they seem to think that was an appropriate “sneak peek”.
The advertisment for the coming Blood and Madness event said there was going to be a sneak peek on the live feed that just happened.
There was no sneak peek! What is up with that?
All you did was run to “buy” more weapons and show 1 area (spvp) area.
Did you forget? Or was it an empty promise?
Well seeing as conditions are pretty much a huge part of the pvp meta (and I mean pvp in the general sense of the word, not the game mode), I don’t see why you wouldn’t be running condition removals in wvw in the first place. Without sufficient condi removal, you’re pretty much walking free loot bags. If you’re unwilling to sacrifice certain utilities/trait points to have condi removal at hand at all times, you only have yourself to blame when you get melted down by things like confusion. The 4 classes I know well and regularly play (mes, guard, engi, necro) all have sufficient condition removals with several commonly viable wvw builds. I know thief and ele also have plenty of condi removal options. I’ve just never found myself in the position where confusion has become an issue during a fight, but maybe that’s because I haven’t met any good players running them yet.
the problem is that it is really easy to reapply it while removing condition has certain requirements and is usually not spammable
I will bring example a thief: yes they can trait into condi removal, but they would have to go in stealth to do so – to go in stealth they either would have to attack or use relative long CD spells like refuge or hide in shadows.
Not to mention there is DR on stealth, meaning a thief can stealth only 3 times in given amount of time, after that they are immune to stealth for a while and can’t remove conditions outside of…activating sigil which also has long CD. Once thief has no means of removing confusion except to wait.
Additinally, either it is black powder/heartseeker stealth or CnD stealth, all of them do dmg, meaning if thief has confusion stacks on them they dmg themself trying to remove confusion.
And once again, not to forget that all of that either costs initiative or has long CD, so is not spammable compared to confusion spam.
Now in real situation, knowing how much time thief would spend trying to remove those confusions they are eaither dead or had to run away.
Simply put there, no matter how you try you won’t have enough condition removals to deal with all those conditions. The rune needs long ICD.
P.S. now i just noticed that you play mesmer, engi and guardian, so it explains why you would defend something so broken.
All conditions are easy to apply while the removal is not spammable. This is the same with bleed, blind, vulnerability, torment, everything.
People are just needing to be aware of what is being done to and around them and not face roll on the skills.
Heck, I’ve died from confusion stacks cause I got tunnel visioned, but I don’t belly ache and cry. I just fight back, or I res and repair and try to pay better attention next time.
It’s an issue of not cool down, but an unwillingness to think that something might need to be tweaked. We (my fiance and I) are always tweaking and testing our build and new builds. Just because I am running perplexity now doesn’t mean I will tomorrow or the next day. Open minds can find a solution to anything. Closed minds cry and pitch fits.

Absolutely! It seems to me that everyone can remove if they are willing to run a decent wvw build and not just go for the glass cannon / extreme damage type. They have no mitigation.
I only really have enough experience on Engineer to speak of, and the knowledge I have of other classes are only from interaction with friends, but truly, none of us has any fear of these runes because we run with an appropriate means of countering.
1. game.slayer – uses them on his elementalist (!!) and brags in the forum how he would kill anyone 1v1.
2. kuora – said i was a 2222 thief who needs l2p when i stated the opinion warrior stuns are over the top atm in the warrior forum. (i main warrior with 1.5k hours)
just so you know who those scrubs are if you want to “discuss” with them. it has zero to do with l2p, the runes are broken. people saying otherwise either dont have a clue about the game (game.slayer) or are just plain trolling out of habit (kuora). probably both.
Thats because dire gear is the only thing overpowered here. that cat is ridiculous. i have two rupt skills on a 40s+ cd each. putting an ICD on perp runes, say, 30s, would barely even nerf my build what so ever. when i encounter a stun/condi war with perp runes, you know what i do? its calledcounter-play.
“WUT IS COWNTER PWAY?” you ask?Blind
Remove condi
invuln skills
kite
block
evadenow if youre so bad that you cant do that, and instead want to come to forums to rage about how you cant counter-play somone, be my guest. youre just making yourself look silly.
Dire gear is the only real problem here. condi + ability to flat out tank is stupid. but these runes are fine. The only condi removal that counters perplexity runes is passive, otherwise you just proc the confusion stacks and if your removal requires a channel they might even get to interrupt that too.
There are several ways to remove the Perplexity Confusion condition. Confusion is a condition. It’s not different than other conditions, so your same skill that would remove conditions removes confusion.:
I play engineer as my main. I do not see issues with the levels of confusion or lack of removals for it.
Engineer – Elixir C, healing turret when overcharged, and I think elixir gun (I haven’t used it in a while, so I am fuzzy on that) and we have traits for managing conditions as well.
My fiance plays Necromancer and he said Death Shroud (eats conditions in the second health bar), Consume Conditions / Heal, Staff 4 transfers it to someone (enemy), Dagger 4 transfers it to someone (enemy), Well is Power converts the condition to a boon.
I have seen warriors have shouts that consume conditions and there is some offhand weapon that has a trait that can remove condition (I am not a high level warrior yet, so I don’t know which it is)
Thief has stealth abilities that remove conditions.
By no means are you only left with passivity. You just need to know what your class has to work with. Just because someone makes a build that you don’t want to change your build to deal with it, doesn’t mean they are wrong for making the build in the first place. You have to be willing to pick what you are wanting to combat. You can’t have everything all at once – thus why there is only 1 heal skill available at a time, 3 slot skills, and an elite skill. Also why we only have 70 trait points and not 150+ to get every trait. This is not a sandbox game.
Either use skills or smarts to avoid confusion killing you.
I play almost exclusively in WvWvW on my engineer. I am running with perplexity runes in my armor. I do see confusion put on my enemy – but in no way is it excessive compared to a theif’s ability to stealth stomp me, or a mesmer’s ability to stealth take a keep, or a warriors ability to knock me down and keep me stunned so I can’t get away. I learned to deal, I learned to accept, and I found something that made my build competitive to everyone else’s build.
I will add while I see confusion be put on enemy, I am also not instantly seeing them die in two moves – they are often savvy enough to remove it, or otherwise not continue to get the self damage, which is really all I want – in live action WvWvW play there is no way you can survive focusing on one single player all the time. You have to be looking at the big picture, which is a blob – not one. If you look at the 1, you are going to get killed in an instant.
i found the perfect counter to perplexity runes….
behold…
perplexity runes!
seriously there have been countless threads about it, its beyond ridiculous that they havent been fixed asap 3 days after putting them in and its just dramatic.. i mean SAD AS HELL that we have to put up with that kitten, what, like 2 months now? The responsible people are just clueless beyond limits or they dont play the game at all, i dont know…
i mean, i usually dodge, and if i cant dodge, i usually use stability, and if i cant use stability, i take the confusion, and when i take the confusion, i usually remove it, and if i cant remove it, i kite and dont spam my skills like a mindless donkey and they go to forums to rage about it.
learn to play. ive already told you how.
This! Thank you.
I just got the area completion on a new character for Divinity Reach. I was missing a normal POI, so I know it wasn’t anything to do with the new area in the collapse that was from the event.
I have been away from the game a while and just came back, but did not have this character very far, so I was picking up on a low character and did the exploring for D.R. and didn’t get the award. I thought they had taken away the reward for the individual map completions until I saw this post. Is there any other way to help someone like this?
I have tried logging in and out of the game, moving out of the map and back in again (several times in fact) and going to the area of the event that I missed (which I had already completed anyway for the vista etc.) I have 13/13 waypoints, 6/6 vistas, and just got the last of the 21/21 POIs. No map reward at all.
Throwing snowballs at kids and knocking them over, or becoming a plant dog to play with puppies is what I think about when I think of adult conflict.
This is mainly Wintersday one time event. It does not count.
It is also a constant “event” in the snowy part of the early Norn area. It does count.
And the “plant dog” is a constant event in Sylvari area. It does count.
Do you even comprehend the example I was trying to state here? He asked me as a graphic designer, would I have put in The Dreamer’s affects into the game He asked for my opinion as a graphic designer. As a graphic designer, no matter what I actually like personally, does not matter. It was an EXAMPLE.
And I don’t think you got that he asked you that because why would a designer create something that is inherently tacky?
An artist does not always have the opportunity to “dictate” what gets done. There are times where an artist is a service provider. A client tells the artist what they want, and without the client the artist gets no food, so the artist gives the client what they want regardless of personal taste about tackiness.
Plenty of logo jobs I have done that I presented a client with 3 options, and they took the one I didn’t like, or liked the least because it was their favorite. I didn’t have the luxury to say – no, I won’t sell that to you because it’s tacky. I needed food on the table, so I took their money, and bought my groceries.
When I paint my paintings for me, I get to choose everything into it. I make something that pleases me in the hopes that it sells, but it isn’t my mainstay for income. So I get the luxury of deciding whether I want a big pink heavy armor knight jumping about with a bow with unicorns and rainbows or if I want flaming balls of gas shooting from the air. It’s my choice, and someone gets to decide later if it fits their taste and if they want it. If they don’t want it, they don’t buy it, but I still got my choice just like they did.
When it’s your job, the artist doesn’t have the luxury of personal taste. Personal tastes and preferences are just that.
People who are not artists or in an artistic related field don’t understand that they are not flitty, fly by the seat of your pants, crazy, insane, do whatever they like people. We have to do the jobs we don’t like just like everyone else.
I hate coconut. Can’t stand the smell, sight, taste, or thought of it. I don’t degrade my sister because she loves it and can’t get enough of it. I just “ignore it”. I don’t eat it.
Same applies here.
I’ll agree to people being able to turn off the bow’s effects when I can turn off bad dye jobs and change names I don’t like into bad puns.
I’m pretty sure every worn item has “standard” dyes for when they are first put on and stuff. I don’t think bad dyes call as much attention as the discussed effect, though.
I am going to play devil’s advocate here.
Scenario:
Big male Norn guardian doing Jormag, in bright pink armor is ruining my immersion. They shouldn’t be allow to dye heavy armor pink, because it doesn’t go with GW2.What would be your argument that they should, or shouldn’t?
Amen!
Or even the chainsaw skins that the swords are getting with the sound effects.
(edited by magicweaver.2695)
most people who want to use this weapon in the last pages seem to be doing it exactly to kitten me off.
its fair play
“Seem” that’s the key word. Most of the comments I have seen have never been singling you out. That is a big assumption – that they are on your server, or a server that will face you in WvW.
Most of the comments are that they liked it anyway and wanted it. Now they just want it more. They already had that opinion – you just internalized it to the ‘nth’ degree.
I actually wanted it as of about a week ago – before I even knew about this thread – so it wasn’t to get your goat.
So, sorry – I don’t think “you” are that critical in the mass picture of the game.
Yes, I am a girl gamer, and you just insinuated that because I am a “girly girl” I would automatically get The Dreamer.
Well you ARE visciously attacking anyone who complains about the girly-girl weapons…
She never attacked the person, only inserted logic and common sense where there was none to put holes in paper thin walls.
^
i dont even need to prove my point.
looking forward to your dreamer pride day and parade.
You must be trying to kitten people off!
you totally can use gems to get one, or part of one.
items that are not available on cash shop are dungeon skins and scended stuff for exemple.my statement was smart.
Your statement was not accurate. And I am having a difficult time taking you seriously, when you can not even spell example correctly.
You can not buy this item using the gem store primarily. With the current conversion rate, you will only receive 6 gold per 800 gem. Making it a whole 30 gold, for 4000 gems. At the current price of 2000 gold, you are looking to spend over $3000 dollars on gems. Yea, totally doable by everyone in this game right?
My point exactly, just didn’t have the numbers to prove it. Thank you.
^
nikkistar;
the
question
is:as a designer, would you have put such bow in gw2 ?
my answer; ill put anything in that kitten game as long as it sell on the cash shop. so put out a survey and do it!
Your statement is invalid because we can’t buy the bow on the cash shop.

So, your assumption is that anyone who has it is using the cash shop because you know, they couldn’t do the farming, forging, etc. on their own.

Well since I am a graphic designer and coder, I have no issues with putting “troll” weapons into games. There is a game (I will not name the game) that has a rainbow level where you kill teddy bears, unicorns, and flowers. Another game has a unicorn gun, that has the unicorn screech when you shoot rainbows that come out of it’s butt, and goes googley eyed when it is out of ammo.
There are a lot of games, with “troll” weapons such as this. It is meant to be humorous. If you can’t find the humor in it, then you are sorely lacking a funny bone.
Let me give you an example:
Let’s say, I hate the color red. Well because aesthetically, I hate this color, then I shouldn’t put it in the game, because I hate it.im a fashion/graphic designer.
and i laughed the first time i saw it.
but that kind of “funny stuff” will get old really fast, and it’s a “legendary” item, not some throwaway wooden toy skin.
So now you are deigning to tell me how long I would enjoy having said weapon?
The audacity!

its a poor and condescending way to get girly girls to feel like playing tbh. everytime the gaming industry comes up with ideas to “encourage” more females to play video games they come up with trash like this.
If i was female i’d be insulted that they assume females all go gooey for rainbows and stuff.
even mini pets are junk to me, i,m not playing the sims or farmville I dont need “cuteness” to make me buy into my toon.
I being female am actually more offended by your assumption that the only way I could possibly be “enticed” into playing a game is if companies think they have to do this kind of stuff.
I’m a girly girl. I love horses, but I will tell you I played the game before the bow, and I will play the game after the bow. I will also say I know plenty of men who like the idea of the bow. I know this destroys your basis of bias against “us” as women playing the game and your assumption (wrong as it is) that only women/girls would own the bow, but reality bites.
I was actually drawn to play the game for the graphics, the story, the creativity involved. I as a professional artist feel that any form of creativity is good and reassessing creativity brings better creativity. As a CSR I know the customer is right even when they are wrong, and it is about presentation when the information is not what everyone wants. You can’t please all the people all the time. As a mother I know that we all need to learn to be tolerant of other people and their preferences.
Just because you walk past someone wearing lime green, florescent yellow, and ruby red clothes doesn’t mean you have to slap them across the face and tell them they have no fashion sense. They did nothing to you, so just keep walking. Eventually your eyes won’t be blinded anymore and you will forget when someone slaps you across the face for wearing black, grey, and tan.
That bow is a joke, and not in a good way. When it comes to people that are using that bow, I’d really like the option to turn off the ridiculous effects it has, so I don’t “accidentally” leave a dungeon party when they start using it. I already “accidentally” left a party that had someone using “quip”, and another that had someone using “Sunrise”. I’m tired of these “accidents”, and would like them to stop happening. Unfortunately, until I get the option I need to fix the problem, I can’t promise future parties anything
Wow. The fact you would be so narcissistic to say that the parties would be so desperate to have you in them and that Anet is so desperate to make sure YOU get to be in said parties that they would change the weapon design is a new level.
On top of that anyone who would “accidentally” leave a dungeon party because the choice of weapon SKIN another player uses tells me no dungeon party needs you because if you are going to get that serious of a twitchy finger that you can’t control it in 2 clicks will get a party in serious danger – especially with the new “no res” dynamic.
Probably a good thing you can’t promise any future parties anything. Good move on your part. They are probably better off without you in this case.
You should probably see a doctor to make sure you don’t have something more serious going on rather than a general lack of acceptance of the people around you. I’m no doctor but that is something that I would think should be looked at.
@nikki
obviously it affects my gameplay experience to see all those unicorns being fired at jormag.
if you change the look, you change the reaction.
The same could be said of your character dropping balls of napalm (or whatever your fire elemental skills are based on) without any kind of launching weaponry, or the fact you can summon flying winged flame beasts etc.
Actually, the same can’t be said, because just like those don’t affect anyone, the unicorns don’t affect you unless you let them. If you let them, no one can do anything to help that – it’s a choice you make. No one is forcing you to pay attention to them. No one is holding a gun to your head saying “LOOK AT MY UNICORNS! LOOK AT MY RAINBOWS!” Don’t like it, focus on Jormag or whatever you are fighting and ignore it.
Fun to play…hahaha. First, you need to consider that you’re killing people, animals and so on and second you need to consider that you’re KILLING living beings in virtual world. How does it feel? So now you’re killing living beings with unicorns…it’s not funny, it is embarrassing!
It is the same like with quaggan backpack. I saw character with CoF full heavy set and 2h sword and he was carrying quaggan backpack. It only raises questions if the player is child or without taste. Such updates are destroying overall feeling from environment. Sorry but seeing such character fighting against dragon or other epic fight just downgrading whole game for me.
Such updates should be only for town clothing, costume brawl etc and never ever as part of the gear used for combat and progressing through game world.
It’s comments like these that make me facepalm.
I have NO idea how someone else’s decision to use whatever he/she likes on their OWN character, is so detrimental to you, and your experience gaming. This is just so asinine to me. You are basically wanting to push your aesthetic preference on others, because it is something, you, as a player do not appreciate. You have a choice to wear it or not. Tell me, does the backpack make you play worse? Does it make you dodge attacks less if you see it?
You people whom actually let trivial stuff like this affect your gaming experience are crazy.
Thank you Nikkistar. Exactly what I was trying to say. I don’t understand either. My having a “effect” has no affect on another player.
First of all, I have seen only 1 of these, and I was in WvW, and they were in my group I was running with. I was intrigued at the beginning.
It is a given with me, anything equestrian is going to draw my attention – instantly. I saw ponies and got excited. I love horses, have horses, ride horses, have been for over 30 years (yes, I am an adult).
I am also female.
So let’s get those things out there, as it is sure to color my response here.
I don’t understand the OP and the other hater’s problems, but I do agree, if Anet would put in an option on your own graphics interface where you could throw the switch on ALL effects from legendaries, do it – so we don’t have to have more of the same of these distateful forum arguments about who is more adult, who is more fun, who is more manly, who is a homophobe etc.
To me, I love it. Puts a little magic and whimsy into the game, which is actually full of magic and whimsy if you get down to it. It just takes a bit of creativity to see it just like it does in the real world. I love magic and whimsy because it keeps me from becoming so downtrodden by reality that I couldn’t just go on.
I come to play games to escape, to have fun, to do things I couldn’t do in reality.
Where can I talk to a frog/rabbit/lizard hybrid genius who runs around with a giant robot golem named Mr. Sparkles and fight a giant cubist hand that is bent on destroying me even though I only just walked into the room?
Where can I hear rats talking about whether they should or shouldn’t go into sewers and explore?
Where can I see a giant cat/human cub creature and a human playing ghost and charr and making social comments about acceptance regardless of differences?
There is tons of examples of the “goodness” and “lightness” all over this game. I believe you are going to see what you want to see at any given time, and that what you want to see will be directly affected by your current state of mind.
Not to say those who see the dark are bad, or the ones who see the light are better, just we all come from different spaces, places, experiences, and exposures and we all enter into this joint alternative reality from a different perspective.
What upsets me is the drastic attacks on anyone who likes the bow from those who don’t and that those people can’t see that their arguments go back the other way too.
If this bow is what they like, who are you to force them to loose something they enjoy in the game.
If you don’t like this bow, don’t buy it. Don’t affect the market price. Don’t advertise it. Don’t talk about it. Ignore it like last weeks garbage.
If you like it buy it, make it, use it, enjoy it.
We all make this game what we want. We all get as much enjoyment as we wish to get out of it. We all paid the price to own it, play it, and each of us plays our own game.
Someone having the bow really shouldn’t affect your enjoyment one way or the other, but if people really can’t see past it, Anet, please to avoid these things, put in a “no legendary effect” switch on the individual’s graphics so they can shut off all the legendary effects, but still allow those who don’t mind, don’t care, or actually like them to enjoy them.
To those haters who hate because they don’t have any options – Anet has implemented 3 Greatsword legendaries. Who is to say you won’t get your gritty, dark, depressing option in the future.
I personally want the bow. It is the only legendary I want. I didn’t desire any legendary before the redesign of this bow. I thought all the legendaries were boring, uninteresting, and unoriginal. I make no fault on those who wanted them because that is their game and I am playing mine. Same goes the other way.
Hope everyone has fun with the game. I close with an alternate reference as to where the “Dreamer” bow came from… just as a toss into the mix (I don’t know if it is right or wrong):
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
While I know it is impossible to put a timer on “how long” is the queue to get in WvW, as one player who has waited an hour or more before, never to actually get in, it would be nice to be able to have some sort of countdown.
Considering the way I understand the queuing system, the only way I can think of to do that would be to give a queue number. Something like (there are 30 people ahead of you) etc. That way we can at least see if there is any movement, and thus possibility to get in on the desired server, or better served to move to a different world. As it is, we blindly have to choose a server when they are all full as we have no idea which one has the shorter line. It would be nice to at least be able to see something fed back that tells us we are waiting on something that could be possible. Much nicer waiting in a line of 10 than 1,000.

so just have my say,
I am NOT against night capping or people playing at night, but im feeling its abit bad that US people are allowed here and some of the other time zones aslong as they have their own servers to play on.
Ofcourse i understand some of this aswell and if things were diffrent and more of the people in another game i play played this then it would be very possible that i would be playing on US servers.
So in the end, yea it kinda sucks when people on the other side of the world can easily ruin a whole day of upgrading and defending just because that’s their prime time, but at the same time.. its a tough subject to find a right and wrong.
I have been playing WvWvW between 1am-4am my time, fighting the french horde
Ok, so the way I understand you is I should not allowed to play with my friends on an EU server due to being in the US because of you loosing your upgrades?
My friends and the guild I am in is 99% in the UK. I am in the US (and the only one). I want to play with my friends, but I shouldn’t be allowed to because you deem it not fair because I am in the US. You want the game to be regioned or some other control to force me to play on US servers only since I am here.
You want me to get relegated to less of an experience because I don’t have a right to be with my friends because you don’t like that by an accident of birth I am in a different timezone than them even though I am willing to play on their schedule, and they on mine and we have our own synergy in our guild.
Wow… just wow.
You do realize that by allowing players to play on any server they want to (and are willing to accept any issues along with it such as lag etc.), it actually helps your server right? Think about it. Since you can’t guarantee that the other 2 servers you are going to be up against are going to be in the same timezone as you, wouldn’t you want to open up your ranks to allow as many timezones as possible? Otherwise you are just begging for this night capping to occur when you are up against the other servers.
And as for affecting the point system for “night capping” or when outmanned. I can’t see how this would possibly work without being severely exploited. Even just timing the assaults would be an exploit. If you say that taking a 2 keeps in 30 minutes is not acceptable, then they wait 31 minutes and take it and it’s still the same eventual result. This is further complicated by the fact if it really did take 31 minutes to take 2 different keeps it could be seen as an exploit when it is really just the flow of play. How much would you like to loose out on up to an hours worth of work (if it took that long) because some AI determined that you were trying to exploit instead of just getting and using the capture you have?
What needs to be done is trying to bring people into the game, and into WvW. Explaining how to do that is not for this thread, because I think this thread is way off the mark for the problem, but it is nice to see that ANet are willing to look into things – I just think it is misdirected if they are focused here.
It is stated blatantly everywhere (from the “trailers” and “informational” things before the game’s release all the way through to now), that WvW was supposed to be a constantly fluctuating and intense environment. What should be happening is what Aurora Glade has been up against in the past. Make a concerted effort every chance you can. Look for ways to deal with the pitfalls and struggles. Learn how to turn things to your advantage. I’m not wanting to give more information because really there are already servers so good at this I don’t wish to give things away, but you have to be willing to think outside the box. WvW is a lot of hack and slash, but when done well it is a lot of tactics and planning and work as well. Think about more than just the points, think about strategy, think about timing, think about tactics and the points will come on their own.
I can come up with at least 4 ways to counteract night capping as the game stands now, without any adjustments to the system by ANet and they are all legitimate, viable, doable, and have been done before. Expand your ideas a little and I am sure you can come up with 3x that many in the time it has taken to read this post.
I honestly think people get too wrapped up in the points, and loose sight of the bigger picture. Points aren’t the be all and end all – each week they get erased. It should be about improving your server’s standing, improving your communication and understanding of the tactics at hand. The goal should be learning to work together as a party, squad, server, as well as across all the lands.
“If you build it, they (the points) will come”
I will also add, in this weeks matchup, I have seen twice that Aurora Glade has been “outmanned” due to the buff. Population in WvW changes second by second, so to throw in one server’s face that they are higher population is not an effective argument. I don’t know at those times which server was “top” in population – all I know is AG was not, but we still tried and did our best where we were.
I don’t normally get involved and post on the forums. I tend to stay quiet and let the mud slinging happen around me and keep my nose fairly clean. However, the obnoxious statements being flung about have started to smart against my cheeks as much as anyone else, and it is upsetting me.
First of all, this is a game. Everyone regardless of server, guild affiliation, preference of game play format (PvE, sPvP, WvW) should be playing for enjoyment above all else. If you have lost that enjoyment, maybe it is time for you to take a personally assigned timeout. I had to do this before in games, and in RL with kids and the like. If you can’t find something of enjoyment, and all you can do is throw mud and bile and hate around, then you are potentially ruining it for the other players who still find enjoyment in it. Step back, breathe, take a night, a week, a month off until you can come back with the right perspective again. Everyone every once in a while needs a respite and a recharge, maybe it’s that time for you.
Next, guilds have been moving around servers since the early days of the game. Aurora Glade lost many. We were very alive and then many very large guilds jumped to other servers when we were struggling against servers such as GH, DL, and others. The idea of a guild moving to another server on masse is nothing new. I get the feeling and the impression that you (mainly Nidhogg since he is the most vocal about it on the forums, but I am sure there are others) are upset because it has happened to you. This has been happening across the game for the longest time, which there was discussion about it from the beginning and many suggestions put forth about how to handle it. Once it happens though, none of us has any power to change it.
However, there was a choice on the part of those being vocal about it and rude, and insulting. You had the choice to 1. continue playing with dignity and do the best you could do with what you are working with (you know the addage when the world gives you lemons, make lemonade) or 2. yell and scream and whine and belly ache and moan and grumble and complain. Seems everyone has made their choice.
Aurora Glade as a server did not do this to YOU. The players on Aurora Glade are just trying our best to enjoy the game that we paid just as much money for as you did. We did not force KISS, LOE (or was it LOA) or any other guild to move to our server. No one ever held a gun to anyone and demanded them move or more so to move to our server. For once, they actually moved to instead of away. There were more than 1 reason for each player’s decision to move, and the motives of one player, one guild, etc. should not be judged against a whole server. If we did that, I would be placing blame on GH for things one player was doing, but would you be happy about that? Of course not, because it wouldn’t be fair either.
Personally I am happy that any guild has chosen to move to Aurora Glade, as it tells me one thing and one thing only – we are a viable server for playing. We all go into WvW looking for the same thing – good, fun, matchups. No one likes being zerged, but you complain Aurora Glade “always” does this, however, I know for a personal fact that we have players who go in and fight being the underdog as well, and sometimes lose and sometimes win. I know that I and a guildie will often go in duo and take camps and get jumped by 4-5 players from RoF or GH and sometimes we win, and sometimes we loose. It’s about the match at the moment, the rush, and what you do with the adrenaline at the time. I also know I have been “stealth” zerged by people from RoF and GH in match ups of 10-15 against me alone, but I wasn’t one to come complain because that is part of the WvW experience and I accept it as such.
Please maintain some dignity, and allow everyone else to do the same. You might be upset that you lost some guilds, but the way of the behavior I have to say you look like a 2-year-old throwing a temper tantrum because someone took away your blankie. I know you are and can be more mature than that – I challenge you to prove me right, not wrong.
Actually I think I might know the answer.
You are saying you are putting it on leather so coronel and ceronose are incorrect, but big question, what armor level are you trying to transmute on and what kind of transmute stones are you using?
First, I can understand your superficial frustration with seeing people with commander titles and you have “nothing”. Again, I point this is superficial. I also realize you said you didn’t intend to use gold sellers, but your statements make it sound otherwise. Second, all a commander title does in PvE is say you at one point had 100 gold to blow on a commander’s compendium. It doesn’t change your game play nor your quest line, nor should it change your enjoyment of the game – except that you can’t turn it on and go “look at me, I blew 100g on a book” .It’s your statements you made yourself that makes me believe you aren’t ready for a commander title – “Therefore making my GW2 experience harder to enjoy with tons of people running around my server with commander titles and me? What? nothing…. I stick around 3 gold all of the time and I see people like my friend making 75 gold a day!!”Commander is something used to direct huge squads of people in places like WvW. If you can’t enjoy the game without the blue icon, there is something else about your experience in the game or your expectations about the game that is affecting this, not whether you have saved 100 gold or got the title or not.
Now, you say you stick to 3 gold all the time, and you have a friend making 75g a day. While I find that latter number most likely a deep exaggeration either coming from your “friend” to make themselves seem superior to you or because you want everyone to feel sorry for you I’m going to help you out the best I can… Give a man a fish and he eats a meal, teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time…
This is in to respect to what my process is. You will need to find your own way of doing it, but if you follow the same general rules and stick to the basics it will work for you too. There is no real “magic” spot for making money. It’s about what people do with what they find in any spot.
If you are able to always stay at 3 gold, look at how you are doing that. Knowing how to NOT spend your money is a big point to making money.
The best ways to make money are:
Storyline Quests/Events/Hearts/Crafting
The best ways to loose money are:
Waypoints/Crafting/Dying
If you do some Events/Hearts/Storyline everyday and keep your deaths down to as minimal as possible you will make money. It will slowly build up, and you will see each day the amount in your bank increasing.
If you carefully watch of the BLT and craft items in demand that will sell for more than your costs, you will make money. You will have to spend some, so this is why I say careful watch of the BLT. Values change all the time, so don’t make a zillion of widget A now thinking it’s always going to be worth $X, instead check each day, or every couple hours for what YOU can make at the time and do that (lower your overhead, and increase the profit margin)
If you choose poorly what to craft, always use waypoints instead of running through the maps, and you die a lot, you will loose money. It will chip away, and not so slowly.
It’s purely as simple as that.
In one character going from 0-80+ (I have releveled to 80 over and over on my main) I have managed to get over 20 gold in 1 month. Not a massive huge accomplishment perhaps compared to some, but I never had to grind anywhere, and it was all me – I never had to resort to buying gold from a gold seller and I personally have never chosen to sell gems on the currency exchange.
I am currently at 8 gold in my bank and resaving it after I bought my “final” armor for my character.
I have enjoyed almost every moment of the game, and I run with people in my guild who are helpful, fun, and most of them are richer than me.
When I run a good night in WvW, I can come out of there with 50s-1g. When I run a bad night in WvW I come out of there loosing 10s (that is when I call it quits).
It’s like gambling – If you don’t set yourself some controls and limits you can go hog wild and loose it all, but if you are conscious of what you are doing, and how it is impacting your bottom line of $ (or whatever else you might be focused on) then you will be able to work it where you come out ahead.
I usually run everywhere I go. I kill everything in my path. I get loot, and some of that loot is good to sell on the BLT, some of it is good for salvaging, and some of it is good to use on lower characters – the later saving you more money because you don’t have to buy weapons and armor for alts. When I do waypoint, I either know I am going to make that money back, or it is coming out of my “pocket change” that I keep on my character because every once in a while I do want to make a fast leap somewhere without the time it takes to run.
Hopefully some of these suggestions will be helpful and you will be able to find your own path to making gold without resorting to gold sellers.
Just remember, nothing worth having is easy, and nothing easy is worth having.
Is there a way to restrict an item sale to a particular Player using the BLTC?
Posted by: magicweaver.2695
While I understand what you are asking for, and I miss the ability to trade person to person as this would allow, making it available in the BLTC would be far too messy. It’s already horrendous just trying to get items handled with the “offers” that are below vendor price etc.
The best way you can handle this is by putting it up there and telling the person its available, if they aren’t fast – they are last. Someone else got the good deal.
If you really want a specific person to get it – if it really is that critical for you, mail it. Just don’t mail anything you aren’t willing to loose out on the return for.
And as for trading with guild members – well I agree with Jestunhi – if you can’t trust your guild mates, leave the guild already. That is supposed to be the people who always have your back and you have theirs. That is the spine of what Guild Wars (2) is built on.
I play plenty of games that allow things like private trades, or restricted sales, and it works fine in those because THOSE are designed around it. This game isn’t and it is far too huge, and with the game wide (not just server wide) BLTC. I hate to think of the headache you would have to go through to try to buy an item if people reserved them for other players (it would potentially become a second bank – people just posting stuff for their own characters to pick up as and when, etc.)

Me too, and doesn’t help my frustration when someone said it was up try again and it still isn’t working. Adding to that my boyfriend and one of his friends (and a guild member) were on with me and we were doing the new dungeon when it crashed and we all had the same error, but they got in and here it is 3 hours later, and I still can’t…
