Thanks for the reply Mesmo. VK is definitely a quality group and is great fun during primetime running with some of your commanders. The queue thing really really bothered me during release. We were talking at least 30 minute queues up to hours. That is why I picked FA b/c I played on it in beta and knew the queues were less.

I’m still interested if anyone has more helpful info but I’m going to stick it out on FA for another week and see how it fairs. I will try map hopping more to find a map with a few commanders running on it during the non-peak hours. Again, I have no intention of leaving FA for a different T2 server.

Glad to see you are going to stick it out in FA for a while longer. It’ll definitely help you if you do decide to move.

As for NA off hours (approx. 8am-3pm EST), if you are playing NA mornings look out for Fallen Deaf Ears and his DPS guild. I highly recommend running with them one morning, some of the best TS3 conversations and fun in game to be had. Another to look out for during that time would be Berliya Berret (I know I spelled that wrong but it’s close), who often runs SEA primetime as well.

FA is usually outnumbered during that time so running with them makes it a laid back environment that doesn’t take the score too seriously, we’re just out to have fun honestly. It also means we are usually hopping maps to defend and inflict as much damage as possible, so our commanders might just be on a different map at the moment.

Like has been said before check out our Teamspeak server during that time and you should be able to find a good group to run with. If you need the info just pm me or any other person from FA here.

I could be wrong, but I think it might be an issue of morale and demoralization. Once TC passed FA last week, FA almost disappeared from WvW. :-/ I think those who stopped playing just need to take it as a challenge and get out there anyway.

Big FA zergs are not to be trifled with. People just need to play. :-P

What we are saying though is that it is an issue of both. Yes we have our fairweather players, but we also, as a server, simply play more on the weekend than during the week, winning or losing. This based on the fact that our population was down even before you guys passed us.

I read the first 4 over 12 years or so, then gave up. I’ll re-read them all at once when Martin kicks the bucket or finishes the series. That guy is gettin on up there in years.

Very true. I started reading them… 6 years ago or so, and only had to wait about a year for Dance with Dragons to come out. But I remember reading all the “updates” on Mr. Martin’s website about how it would be released on a particular date, and that date had already passed.

As for the topic at hand, I would agree with you Expunge. The weekend we were winning we had a noticeable drop in population during the week, so those that didn’t show up you can’t technically call fairweathers because, according to the scoreboard, we were in first. For whatever reason FA just has a higher participation rate during the weekend, win or lose it seems. Hopefully some of our new events in the works help correct this.

Eventually we (WvW players as a whole) need to “stack” as many servers as possible, without overcrowding any servers. There is little coordination to this, but the more Tiers we can get with non-stop coverage in, the better for WvW and the game in general. For example, imagine if you could choose from 9 different servers that all had round the clock coverage but you could find the community that fit your playstyle best. That would be fantastic.
Currently T1 is in pretty decent shape, T2 servers each have one gap that everyone would like filled (and after this week TC might have basic coverage everywhere)? I’m happy when coverage is filled for any server, and we all need to think about how we can help each other achieve the best matchups possible through transfers while minimizing any negative impact on any server community.

The end result is nice of course, but in the meantime servers like FA and KN, who now have less coverage in comparison to TC, have to suffer because of it. I think that is where most of these antagonistic feelings about transfers are coming from (speaking objectively, I could care less either way).

We don’t have such master plans Nibble to go to T1, we just want to fill our gaps like everyone else in here. Would that mean we’ll eventually go up? Possibly, but it’s not in our plans. We don’t know what gonna happen in the future, but it’s not really what we want right now.

TC isn’t aiming to go to tier 1. A lot actually don’t want to. We’re just filling a coverage gap we’d have since release. We had players putting in hours longer then they’d want to, and now that we’ve filled the gap a bit, they can relax.

Also, GG to the FA that just took SM. We had no supply left anywhere in SM, so couldn’t really get anything built to take out the catas. Plus with KN’s zerg still on the north, we barely had the manpower to wipe out either group. KN must have been kitten seeing as they spent a while in there only to lose it so easily to FA.

I’m somewhat confused then. You are reducing your coverage gaps to increase your ppt (or at least to not lose your points over the NA night). This has led to you guys winning T2. Not just the transfers, but the extra hours as well. You guys want to win T2 but not move up to T1? It will happen eventually, unless someone organizes a week off WvW so your server loses. Several of your members have even stated that the goal is continued improvement through moving up the ladder (not a hive mind but indicative of the fact that at least some of TC wish to move up).

With the respective goals of each server I don’t understand all the antagonistic feelings (okay I do, but bear with me here).

FA is happy to be in T2 with some great fights, not caring too much about the score. TC wants to better their server through the meta and move up the ladder, eventually (but not immediately) securing a spot in T1. These goals are in no way mutually exclusive. TC can continue to win the tier and FA can have its GvG/Open field fights. Maybe not with as many TC guilds, but I’m sure there are some willing to try and plenty of KN guilds as well.

In light of that it really is a win win situation for both.

And to TC: For what it is worth I would recommend giving GvG a try. I feel you guys are going to win the week by a comfortable margin. GvG gives both parties a place to have a bit of fun, improve tactics, and prep for some T1 fights.

From what I have seen, the guilds that have done it from TC and KN (e.g. CERN, RISE), have been treated fairly and shown full respect from the FA guilds they fought. I’m sure that they themselves can attest to it.

Still loving the matchups….. The only thing I hate has nothing to do with the other servers. Its our server, I hate being told by commanders that if Im not in a guild thats organized, large, ect ect….That Im part of the problem. I am in a guild…its just dead and Im usually the only one representing it. So ya, Im basically a lone wolf. But Im still out there helping the team. I listen to whats ordered to do and follow the larger groups without breaking rank early into an attack.

That’s weird I’m also not in a large WvW guild but haven’t received the treatment you have. If a commander tells you that I would tell them to “kitten” off and just go on doing what you enjoy. From what it sounds like you’re not a detriment to the server at all.

Dunno if you frequent the FA Community forums (www.fort-aspenwood.com), but Malose, guild leader of BT, just made a post of appreciation towards guys like you and me. I would recommend checking it out.

I think it’s been kinda ugly lately with TC-v-FA largely due to that widely circulated FA forum post about the “hogs” of TC. While I’m sure it doesn’t reflect the views of all of FA, it was “liked” by many of the FA community, and was a really low, immature, deluded, prideful, and non-factual post.

I do want to say I am quite happy with FA. Sure it’s not the win we all would have liked coming off a great weekend (awesome push TC), but we got over that slight slump from last week for sure. Back to #5 of NA servers, the highest FA has achieved yet.

Although a potential for a KN comeback is certainly ripe.

Sigh… I knew this would happen when Haldunius posted what he did. So let me state, for the record, that two people do not make all of FA. So please stop it with the “FA thinks this, FA says that.” I mean… how many months are we into this game and we are still having this problem?

The last two days in WvW have been intense. There is something about FA that seems different. Even here in the forums. You can see it on the battlefield for sure. You guys have more organization, even your militia groups. You do seem to have more people as well, but more people doesn’t always mean winning, hence I recognize a more cohesive force we are facing. Improving like this is what keeps you in the upper tiers, and to be honest, having fun.

I know you folks have no love lost for us, but good games this weekend. Your defense of Bay was excellent and having fun like this is really the only reason to play this game for me.

FA had WC an Kolvan, KN had Aldons and Jerrrifers. 50+ KN on inner of the double doors of the back of the keep, and even more fa on the inner of the front of the Low Lands keep. What was even more HILARIOUS was that our entire keep was at siegelimit cause of the troll/griefer we’ ve been having problems with^^;.

The problem with this is you lose the support of those that resent the “FA is the bad guy mentality.” It’s too controversial to label an entire server as such when so many of us don’t want it.

I always thought FA’s mentality was “quality over quantity” and never give up. Give us a close third place finish over a first place blowout any day. This is the mentality that captured the attention of our IoJ and it was a mentality that everyone could agree on.

Call it pride or self-respect or whatever; but I’d rather win a week because we fought for it and won, rather than the enemy deciding to try something new and lose purposefully. It wouldn’t be a victory for us, it’d be a big slap in our face in fact, and yeah all those “riding/sucking your whatever whatever” accusations from the 3rd server. And given the fact that it won’t change anything for the next week due to 13 rating gap between TC & KN at the moment, it won’t make sense. I’m sure most of TC can agree with me. Really looking forward to one server in particular continuing to make up excuse after excuse for why they lose… or throw insults around about another servers tactics. IE) That they don’t fight in the open field, even though I can say from experience that said server not only fights in the open field, but more often than not destroys this complainer of a server even when outnumbered.

Almost 24/7 constant good fights and efforts from all servers. From my pov no one in this tier is losing.

That’s why I enjoy FA’s off hours, far less zergy because of the low pop. But yeah FA can zerg with the best, especially when guilds like RET or BT hit the field everyone wants in on the karma train (or WxP train now).

Oh and that’s nothing against those guilds, it’s just our militia who tend to flock to particular commanders.

Wow, that is a really close score for a Tuesday. Usually i would see Kain up about 20-30k points over second place at this time of the week.

I think our Oceanics, SEA and EU have been putting in some extra time this week since our NA teams have been a heck of a time keeping TC in check.

But in all seriousness, FA SEA time is the worst timezone for us (I would go so far to say our coverage for SEA is worse than TC as well). We concern ourselves primarily with holding onto Garrison and waiting for the WM zerg to transfer to a different borderland so we can recap hills/bay. On our list of priorities, Bay is at the very bottom because of how easy it is to take back, unlike hills (which is a nightmare) and garrison (which can demoralize the server if lost). Also, our SEA coverage consists of mostly militia and a few commanders, so organized groups like WM, Meow, RISE, etc., can largely sweep the map with their coordination over our own forces. Just a little perspective for you.

And yes, someone insulted Kain, but you can be better than that and not rise to the bait. You guys have been dominating this tier from the beginning of the KN-TC-FA match-ups, there is nothing you need to prove.

I can assure everyone (especially those throwing around the typical server generalizations) that the majority of FA realizes that constructed 2v1’s are almost non-existent, and are a product of opportunity. I even made a post saying as much, but of course sensible posts seem to be ignored for the chance to stick it to a troll (which is exactly what they want—surprise surprise).

I’d like to thank TC and KN for not even trying to hide the fact they aren’t interested in fighting each other in FABL. I am usually the first person to poo poo the conspiracy 2v1 theories but omfg this is silly.

This past Thursday I was defending FABL and got into a fight with a KN invader, got him down to 10% when a TC thief came up and backstabbed/heartseeker kitten me to death. The KN guy stomped me, TC bowed to him, and they both went their separate ways. And keep in mind this was when TC and KN were within 1, 000 points of each other.

2v1 sucks, it really does, but if you can just assume it’s going to happen in our borderland (we’ve done the same to defenders of other borderlands), it is much less surprising and can be planned for. Just my two cents anyways.

Haha I see our FA defenders there on the left… so 6 v. 60. I like those odds.

Come on FA, are we going to let KN steal our spotlight as TC’s number one rival? We need to close the gap here and get those troll posts back out there! KN is just dominating us in the forum BL right now.

It’s a bit of a deal to me because that is the time I play most often. I don’t get to rebuild as much as watching everything get wiped away in a wave of green. And I agree that it is probably just a matter of us being closer in points, but I would rather have some confirmation from the other side before I jump to conclusions.

Would someone from TC who plays in the SEA time against Meow/WM send me a PM? I noticed you guys kept your garrison this morning, and I’m looking for some advice as to how you managed that. Over on FABL we faced at least 50 KN invaders who (after we took out their 5 golems) just dps’ed the door down, so there was nothing our 15 defenders could do.

It’s a little frustrating to say the least, so I’m wondering if you guys are doing something differently than we are, have more people, or just aren’t getting as much attention because KN wants to keep us down in points.

Btw this is not a “Night Capping” or “PvD” complaint, I am just looking for information and this is the best possible forum to do so.

A previous poster did have a point about the open-field battle. TC is very good at “getting the job done,” but we tend to struggle when we meet outside the bounds of the job, on the open field. Cmdr Odin was giving some minor general pointers to players yesterday as he led us around EB, and things seem to have improved in the subsequent encounters.

I know we all like to win all the time, but unless we’re honest about our weaknesses, we can’t really get better.

I think it is really a difference in play styles that contributes to TC’s open-field problems. TC relies heavily on its militia, whereas FA has a good variety of organized guilds. In open field organization > militia almost every time. Unfortunately for us, open field pvp is only half the battle so we get crushed in ppt.

The problem is that us non-trolls are forced to carry around this label that you guys placed on our server because of our less savory members. We resent these generalizations, when in fact all servers have some trolls to a varying degree.

That’s what FA needs… more Jayne’s and Applydainty’s (sorry if I spelled that wrong). Unfortunately we just have crazy people and braggarts—of course when we’re on the battlefield there isn’t anyone else I would want at my side =D
