I was sent a temp password in an e-mail that says my hacked.banned accoutn was fixed. The temp password worked for the forums but not for the game. Still havent been able to get into the game since last weeek

Finally got an e-mail with a temp password to restore my hacked/banned account.

Cant wait to get off work to go try it out in game and see if my little guy is still alive in there or if the hacker gave him the true death.

To all those ppl with hacked/ban accounts trying to get in the game — there is light at the end of the tunnel. Took me a week of whining in this forum and going through the process but finally something done.

Ive had that same error message for almost a week. Actually I believe that error code said something different last week than it does now ,which is probably where the confusion stems from.
Last week that same error messgae said Perm Ban ony my account – didnt give a reason
Then a few days ago it changed to what ur screen shot says -security breach
Have u put in a ticket yet? If not, I would get on that asap since the wait time on the tickets is forever. put hack/ban in the subject line to prioritize it

Every day is the same thing.

Post to this forum, post to that forum, reprioritize ticket, do this, do that. Status updates that say problem will be fixed and how ticket response time is getting better by the day.

I keep jumping through the hoops but still nothing in e-mail box thats says my account has been unhacked/unbanned.

Im trying to be cool about this but losing my patience. I would have been gone a long time ago if the actual game itself wasnt so good.

I put in a ticket 5 or 6 days ago and still no resolve. I included my details serial # e-mail account, in game user ID etc in the original ticket.

Dont even know what happened. First I got a message saying perma ban, know the message says my account was supsended for possible security breach or something. All I know is I want to get bakc in the game, and I definately didnt do anything wrong to get banned.

Got an e-mail for GW2 but not the one I was hoping for. Dont think I will be wanting the Upgraded Digital Edition when I got banned for no reason and still have not been told what happened or had my account fixed/ restored.

Another ban by mistake. This is the most ban happy MMO I have ever seen in my life. I wouldnt mind other than the fact that they are banning to many poeple myself incldued by mistake.

The game should have came with an authenticator. I would glady have paid for a 5 dollar keychain authenticator or a mobile authenticator.

That would have prevented this whole mess, right?

I have experience with brute-force hacking and so long as you have a decent alpha numeric password with a special character and lenght to it, brute force takes too long. Or is that just for WEP cracking using Aircrack?

Now if someone uses their name as their e-mail and then uses their name followed by a few numerics a the end, then that would be easy for a brute force/dictionary attack. But then, how can you brute force a password when you are only alloted so many tries?

Agree 100% Been saying that since I got hacked. I would rather have waited on hold for 3 hours on the phone than wait a week for 1 autoresponse that didnt even help. I just dont get it. I mean, what is the company so cheap it cant afford a call support center? I really doubt that having a call center would hurt their bottom line that much.

How do you know its from Friday? I attached a screen of the e-mail I received which says 4 days ago. Ive been locked out of the game for almost a week and I just want to get back to playing.

I did submit a ticket twice. Maybe thats part of the problem. Even still, that should not hold this matter up in my opinion.

Put in a ticket last week and still havent received anything but a generic e-mail about a password reset which doesnt help a hacked, subsequent ban account.

What is taking so long? Ive been waiting for almost a week now.
I have the serial key, bank details from original purchase which Im sure the hacker doesnt have. So why cant my account be restored and unbanned right away with that information.

Heres what I dont understand. My Diablo 3 account got hacked. And they have an online restoration link that automates the process.
Why cant Guild Wars do the same thing?

Doing just this would clean a majority of tickets. This is the process from Diablo 3

ArenaNet just send an e-mail to the original e-mail address of the hacked account
Ask for serial key and tell person to change account password
That would unhack the account
Then remove the ban on the hacked account automatically since 99.9% of the bans are from what the hacker did, and therefore no need to review each account for request to appeal a ban.

The only ppl this wouldnt help or those who had the same e-mail password as their guild wars password and have a comprimised e-mail.

And why wouldnt they launch without a mobile authenticator like SWTOR or like D3 has. That would have been the safe smart play.

Put hacked or banned in subject line to prioritize

and give them serial and account name and ur info in the body and tell them what happened.

That will start the process and get u in the que to fix.

Sounds like Arena Net is going to have PCI Compliance issues. They regulate the credit card industry and the way that information is stored if at all. Fines start in the ten thousand dollar range if i remember correctly.

Well the whole we will resolve this issue in 72 hours for hacked and subsequent banned accounts is total bs. Especially when I see others post about getting hackban fix in 1 day.

I submitted a ticket 72 hours ago and all i ever got was an auto response with instructions on how to authenticate or reset paswword. Which doesnt help if the account is banned.

I still dont even know why i got banned?

Im at the point where I think I am just going to give up and move on. Even if they do fix my account, I dont think I could play anymore. The whole thing just gives me a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like I got screwed over and taken advantage of from ArenaNet. Thanks for nothing ArenaNet.

Time to call my bank and get my money back and issue complaint with BBB.

Im thinking of just doing a charge back and then buying the game again with the money from the chargeback. Being an accountant, i can tell you that all the chargebacks they are going to get from unhappy customers will be an accounting nightmare.

That would be a hassle but still better than waiting a week for an automated response from support that doesnt do anything.

Has even 1 persons account who has been banned for no good reason been fixed yet? Just curious? I see nothing but posts here about hacked banned accounts and nothing but auto responses from Arena Net. Is ArenaNet on vacation? What is really being done to fix the accounts that were banned in error.

everyone who submits a ban ticket or hack account ticket gets one of those from Lance at the moment.

An e-mail saying “were sorry about mistakingly banning your account. please follow these steps to re-activate your account. And we have also filled your bag with a complimentary xp booster token”

The moderator has time to move all the posts about hacked accounts and banned accounts but the company doesnt have enough time to actually do anything about their mistake. instead of moving the posts around, try responding to them and investigating the claims on invalid bans.

my character name is powerpufz…. dont think that is offensive or violate someone elses trademark
I did not even know about the Karma exploit until after i was banned
So what gives ArenaNet? Why would u ban a honest player without even giving a reason? You have made a mistake. Fix it and let me back in the game! Either that or refund my money!!!

BBB has 15 complaints for ArenaNet. I bet by next week, they will have over a thousand complaints on BBB. Perhaps that is the catalyst needed for improvement and change

Accounts that have been permabanned incorrectly should be prioritzed first. Banning an account incorrectly that had nothing to do with Karma Exploit should be handled ASAP. Not 3 days. Try providing a phone number and center when you launch a game this big. This is ridiculous, and the fact that ppl are having to actually going out and buying the game all over because of a developer mistake is insane. Congrats Arena Net, you ruined my weekend and thousands of others, and at the same time, you gained an extra $20 grand at least in duplicate game sales, all from YOUR mistake.

I've waited a week and finally I'm back to the game. Thank you Customer Support Team a lot!

If you did the exploit, then ask for amensty and they will turn it to a 72 hr ban as previously posted. Personally speaking, I got banned and I didnt even know of an exploit, and have only 10 silver on my account. To me, this is the most ridicoulus thing I have ever seen in a game.

There are two issues going on right now that are causing this.

  1. Karma Exploit. Search for this. There was a press release on it saying 3,000 ppl got perma banned. Then they just announced that they will forgive you if you say your sorry and turn the ban into a 72 hr suspension.
  2. - Account security Issue- massive security problems from the start are now being exploited and tons of accounts got hacked.

So if you didnt do the karma exploit but still got banned, (same as me) then someone probably hacked ur account and did the karma exploit

This site is full of ppl with the same issue. Arena Net is going to lose a lot of money on this mistake. I absolutely LOVE this game but I will never pay twice for somehting that i didnt do. Or say sorry for something I didnt do. Guess its time to go back to Diablo 3 or LOTRO

Did u take part in the Karma exploit. I think they may have banned poeple who didnt actually do anything wrong. I got banned also and i have never even heard of the karam exploit until today. I have 10 silver on my lvl 10 character. So i certainly didnt do the exploit.

I never used chat in the first place. Never sold anything on AH. Im telling u i didnt do anything. And i didnt do the Karma exploit. Never even heard of it until five minutes ago when i read about it.
No way I will buy this game again and start my character progress over. That would in effect, be like paying ArenaNet twice for something that is their mistake in the first place. They should be bending over backwards to for poeple like me getting caught up in their mess.

Got the exact same message. Very irritating.

You are going to need to submit a ticket and give them all your account details including display name, serial code, email, everything. Then wait at least 72 hours.

There should be a customer service number to resolve these issues more quickly than 72 hours. I know myself, I look forward to spending the entire weekend playing this game and now my weekend is basically shot.

I got a message saying I have a permanent ban last night. I submitted the ticket on this and followed the instructions. My guess is someone hacked my account and did somehting that violated the user agreement.

This really has me upset because it just isnt fair. I look forward to playing this game every night after work and now I dont get too. Also, I dont have a lot of money so its a big deal when I get to buy a game like this and I expect to be able to play it.

I dont understand why a company as large as Guild Wars 2, does not have a support phone number. When my account password got messed up in STWOR It was just a simple phone call to get it squared. Same deal with LOTRO, a phone call and it was taken care of. Diablo 3.. same thing. My point is this shouldnt take 72 hours, it should take 5 minutes on the phone.

I paid for the game, I did nothing wrong. Get it together ArenaNet! And because this wasnt my fault, I would expect some XP boosters and in-game items to make up for my loss of play time.

I am unable to switch my healing skills on elementalist

It is stuck on glyph of elemental harmony and when i try to change it to the passive signet skill that heals every cast it keeps saying cooldown not expired.

Any hints as to how to get around this?
i looked in options and didnt see autoattack
