Downed state is fine. If you want your damage to interrupt the player performing the rez, just do more dps. If they’re not stupid, they’ll stop the rez and heal/play defensive, if not they’ll eat a bullet (so to speak).
Also what noctred said, It would literally be impossible to rez someone in the middle of an AoE Fest.
Sort of off topic: I don’t see the logic behind Wave hitting for more when it’s an AoE :/ It’s already hitting for more if you’re using it effectively anyways.
Baylife, battle rez for sure.
edit: inb4 Psychrome is conspiring against us for his own personal stomp point gains.
It’s pretty sad when you have so much sight into future maps that you know what character to log into for the map ahead of time.
I fully did not know you could do this. Now knowing this, it’s kind of outrageous that you could even do this in the first place? A whole team could swap their team comp entirely, which is kittening stupid.
If he manages to make it to 80 and THEN decides he doesn’t enjoy the class, I’m certain making a new character will be the least of his priorities rofl.
edit, PS OP: Play what’s fun. Play each class till you’ve run them through all their weapon sets and decide then what you think. I did this for most classes and I like the DD ele best out of all for sure.
I disagree with OP. An elementalist to me is an all powerful dude which can take on his army using only himself and his magic. A pet/familiar ruins that for me and i hate that the only really useful elite is elemental summon.
Pretty much this.
The fact Necros and rangers use minions/summons/pets is such a deterrent for me. I like my Ele pet-less tyvm.
As far as leveling goes, pop Shocking Aura and/or Earthquake before channeling. Also, I found it particularly useful having Arcane Shield as backup incase the mob was capable of stuns/knockdowns/knockbacks to pop prior or whilst channeling.
AoE’ing a group of mobs on an Ele requires a little finesse, but it’s rather satisfying once you get it down.
Standard combo is RTL > Updraft > Switch to Fire > Burning Speed > Ring of Fire > Fire Grab. Atleast for me anyways, some people might fire grab before ring of fire. After that combo you could either Drakes Breath, or swap to Water for Aura/AoE Ice/Frost breath, or earth for root/earthquake/churning earth (bit too long channel usually tho).
Perhaps I was not clear. I want anet to take out the conjure skills completely and allow elementalists to use an actual greatsword/hammer/axe/bow. I love the fiery greatsword, but I hate how I need to waste my elite slot to get one. Replace the conjured weapons with something else, perhaps another kind of conjure, more elemental summons, something with more utility. I want to equip Dusk when my ele reaches 80
^ Is a kittenone of work if you’re looking to have 20 NEW or even re-used skills for the Greatsword, Bow, Hammer and Axe. That’s another 80 skills, be they new or re-used that you have to balance.
I like the conjures as an idea, it just has to be refined.
IMO set team colours for Paid tPvP and Ranked (when it’s eventually implemented, assuming it will be), as they are trying to head in an e-sport direction, but otherwise take it out for pickup 8v8 and free t5v5.
edit:
if developing esports and efame is important to the devs, consider that certain color patterns could be like “jerseys” for popular teams.
Also +1
Ladders, rankings, “high end” tournaments and anything else should only be launched after post-release balancing is done. They are utterly worthless imho before the devs have got a chance to both fix the bugs and adjust the general balance based on data gathered post launch. And no, this cannot be done in beta tests (unless its a softlaunch Open Beta), the population of such is typically too small.
Spending the initial post-launch month(s) getting to know the game, mechanics and possibly even helping with the post-launch work probably will help you skyrocket in the “hardcore” sPvP layers once they are ready. Just saying.
Pretty spot on.
It really just benefits everyone in general. There’s no point having a ranking system if all you’re gonna see are guardians/mesmers/thieves and the occasional warrior.
Also:
what really makes me smile is that I do not have to PvEEEEEEEEEEE to pvPee.
+1 to pimpslapper. This is really the defining feature that carried over from gw1 that breaks this game away from every other MMO.
Also @ Reikou, i would request to join but i have not a team
Also from my testings, it’d be good to note that Sigils only proc off their corresponding weapon slot/skills. So if you’re DW’ing pistols, your main hand sigil proc will only proc from skills #1-3, and your off hand sigil skills #4-5. Also, crits from slot skills won’t proc weapon sigils.
This is just from what I’ve tested personally.
Arenas wasn’t what ruined pvp in WoW. There have been multiple seasons where 2s and 3s were very close to being balanced when Blizzard did focus on that area of the game. What ruined PvP was the fact that WoW originally started as a PvE game and later implemented PvP. They choose to balance the game around raids and dungeons bumping certain skills up and taking others down so class dps were all on par. Which also directly impacted pvp and causing imbalances.
GW2 doesnt have endgame pve to balance around and if this game really wants to survive past the leveling phase, expanding and balancing pvp is where it should be.
This is spot on. Otherwise TLDR the rest of the thread.
It’s not a matter of wether “really want group pvp or not” It’s what the devs want. It’s their game, their jobs, their lives. They didn’t build this game so that people could whinge and complain about what this game should be what it shouldn’t be whether or not the devs even listen blah blah. They made it so people could play it, and have fun playing the game they made for us.
Fact of the matter is PvP right now is balanced around 5v5. For anyone who directly compares this game to WoW, WoW didn’t have battlegrounds on release, nor arena. kitten, it didn’t even have small scale arenas till Burning Crusade.
I hate playing healers and supporting roles.
BUT, I do agree with the OP. One solution could be to grant points to the supporter for boons he has added to someone who kills an enemy? Not per boon or anything, but if he boons the whole team and they kill a bunch of people he should share in the glory IMO. This for Spvp of course.
+1’d
Im surprised this hasnt been added regardless. Along with this, a failsafe would just be to add a cap to the points earned for assisting and killing a player. Everyone gives out buffs to the group including heavy dps/burst builds. This way everythings on even ground and points are distributed evenly.
I enjoy conjures, but right now they have just about 0 synergy with the class, and the only trait you can spec for them is a meager +10 charges.
What they need, is atleast 1 or 2 major traits in each line which amplify and synergize the weapon conjures with the rest of your build, or purely just to create a conjure build.
E.g.:
- A major trait in each line, giving conjured weps a bonus. Say, +50/100 power/precision/toughness/vitality while each respectable conjure is out and maybe a boon upon summoning (Might/Regen/Swiftness/Protection).
- Somewhere, (possibly in Arcane) add a trait or add onto a trait to give +20% cooldown for all conjures. It annoys me that we can’t even spec for this, even if it wouldn’t be that useful right now.
- Possibly either a trait somewhere, or a different slot skillset which gives you the ability to only conjure the weapon for yourself, with added bonuses. IMO the whole being able to conjure a weapon for someone else is infuriating, more so because when I conjure my Greatsword, i want to make use of both (more so for the charges if anything else), and then some kitten comes along and picks it up, with absolutely no idea what they’re doing.
Give us the option to spec out of this.
My 2c
Switching attunements isn’t the issue, and is infact one of the reasons I play the elementalist. It keeps things active. If you don’t like attunement swapping, the kitten are you playing an elementalist for? They’ll fix us eventually so until then, learn to swap attunements and enjoy it, or play a different class because you’re lazy.
Rare, sPvP gear in gw is all the same stat-wise, only differing in aesthetics. The stuff you start with is the same as rank 10 stat-wise.
Honestly, if they just fixed pathing issues and consistencies within DD it’d fix a lot of the problems.
RTL works well, when it works. 8/10 times, however it’s prediction method completely bonks out and you end up glitched halfway up a wall.
Along with everything you said, just adding consistency to DD’s gap closers would improve the gameplay by atleast 250%.
- Rework RTL pathing or otherwise let us cancel the ability when it CC’s us for all of time.
- Fix Burning Speed to not blowout at your starting location and only let you travel 20% of the distance.
- Either rework missile prediction or have the immobilize trigger before the missile on Magnetic Grasp. 3/4 times the missile prediction gets it so far off it would have worked better if it didn’t have it at all.
