Gunnar’s Hold
I am not skewing things. The typical presense in our border at night is 0.
The only reason EB turned blue last night is because we made a last attempt to get points back. The same happened in the first week’s matchup too, where we were in 3rd place, so we decided to do a nightcap session (ONCE!) and held on during the remaining of the week at normal times to come out on top.
The rule of thumb however is that at night BT caps our border, in the morning RoS caps it from BT, and then it starts flipping back and forth between all 3 server. We (the main guilds) end up having to cap it back during late afternoons/evenings to upgrade it again for the evening which is found too hard to do with the manpower that we have (meaning we can’t go on the offensive in other borders). I can assure you our upgrade spendings are alot higher than yours.
WSR knows where it lacks in presense, not RoS.
You’re just sour we (3 TEO, 3 WBC and pugs) pummeled your 25-man zerg in the face last night (at 3.30am, no nightcrew?) in our hills. You would have gotten away with it wasn’t it for our ‘event’. Bye!
Go post your QQ in the weekly matchup thread now, thank you.
PS: BT border green last night, green WP in their bay, wut?
Whiteside is looking for both individuals and guilds that are looking for a new place to call home. Multiple guilds (including TEO) are recruiting.
Speaking for our guild, we play WvW every night, make long hours, defend our territory, but also like to play aggressive. We have a core wvw team of 15 players, sometimes strengthened by our more casual wvw’ers to form 20-30 man groups when needed. We try to use strategy, coordination and skill to overcome superior numbers, and we work together with other guilds like WAR, WBC, RaW, pnwy and more.
Short term, we like to secure our spot in tier 8. Long(er) term, we hope to grow as a server to tier up further. But we can use help. We are looking for guilds and players for every timeframe, be it primetime (no queues) or off hours (in which you can make a significant difference). Other servers have a more active presence during the night, as Zeal already mentioned, and this is often where we fall short. In peak hours a few more guilds could make just that bit of difference to keep the pressure up.
Interested in joining TEO or WSR, or if you have questions or concerns, you can PM me or /w in game.
Can someone check into a WSR level 80 ranger with FLKR guild tag that’s been botting/hacking on the quaggens in RoF BL next to hills for the past 4 hours please. I have about 5 minutes of fraps footage of me killing him with no retaliation having another 2 or 3 chars next to him ressing himself then me killing those also then all of them reappearing instantly back at the site to continue botting on the krait there.
Unfamiliar with that guildtag. If it’s bots then nothing much more we can do either, except for reporting so Anet can sort them out.
Thanks for a fun week BT and RoF.

I don’t recall us being at valley keep lord at any point in time :x Might have been Karouim, a pug leader mostly. I’ll forward the apologies ;]
All in good fun and all with a wink guys ;]
Yes I died alot last night on my pink level 36 sylvari warrior in level 24 gear randomly mashing buttons :p
Hope Spud gets the video up soon :]

Haha guess who was the thief scout that saw you skwas
.
There was that split descision moment, do we go in head on, or run around… I chose wrong (and messed up veil) :p
‘runs around corner, arf crap there they are…’
Calm down already lol, noone says we are teh uber guild. I already explained why some of them are a bit overexcited. TEO still has alot to learn, we have started becoming more WvW oriented only in the past 6-7 weeks of which half of the time we have been in bottom tier (not much to learn there, mostly practice vs wolfs and deers). The reason some of my crew are a bit excited is well, loot increased since the patch in itself, and we did manage some successes against guilds that in our book are strong (a compliment to them), and we do try. This tells us we are on the right track, but we are not claiming to own you all every time. Saying we got nice loot from you should be read more in general in that sense I guess…, no enemies, no loot. Tonight, a strong BT group rolled over us a good few times as well (can’t remember guild).
We hit hills at 7pm GMT Skwas – ICON dont start till much later so you probably missed some of the action at hills earlier in the night
My bad, I was there, I just remembered seeing PI in the area too, but yeah FR :p
Anyways, I don’t think it was fair for some (of my) people to specifically aim at specific guilds with regards to the loot bag statements, but the reality is it ‘did’ happen and so they are a bit overexcited ;] The explanation was already given as well, if a server wins, alot of PvE’rs hop on, and so when we ran into bigger groups of said guilds, we did faceroll them in a few cases. I also remember a few nights ago bumping into a more organized (and smaller) ICON group at Stargrove and they nailed us hard :p (kitten thief scout that saw us)
RoF has quite a few more organized and bigger guilds roaming all of the borders/EB compared to WSR, I wish we had a few more active 10-20 man guilds. The scores simply reflect the difference in strength and wvw population, and TEO definately also contributed to filling your bags up with loot in some cases :p
(edited by skwas.9873)
South of hills was a different group iirc it was PI, with ICON stragglers and others, at least the first time. This is when we tried some different combo’s in our small push towards the bridge and it didn’t really work out that well.
The main ICON/TaG group as well as a big BT force did cause quite some trouble throughout the map and we had to constantly move to intercept. We can’t always win at 1:2 or 1:3 odds (just referring to our little TEO outfit, sometimes the fights were more balanced) so we wiped a few times ourselfs, but we got alot of practice and won more encounters then we lost. In the end we did lose alot of our upgrades, but glad we held at least two keeps until I logged.
Good times, keep the fights going.
Shut up Cloaaa :p
Nothing balanced about 520-155-20. All WSR can do is run after the facts, RoF everywhere to be found in huge numbers. The only way we are able to hold on to the remaining upgraded keeps is because we are expecting attacks from everywhere and are constantly chasing RoF around the map. We pull some reinforcements from EB or border where needed, but overall it’s the same odd 20 man WSR-group that is there to push you out.
Just fyi, I run one of the bigger wvw guilds on WSR, and we only had 10 people earlier on, and the past 2 hours I ran with 4 guild-mates…
Not to say I don’t enjoy the fights, it’s better then t9 and we get plenty of loot from you, but it would be alot better if the player numbers were on par.
(edited by skwas.9873)
Retaliation still works… :]
Agreed… We were looking at going back to t8 again after this or maybe next week and maybe grow from there on, but now we (WSR) are looking at a first place and weeks of getting facerolled. Sure we will fight, but it’s not going to be alot of fun and we run the risk of losing players this way.
I sincerly hope that Anet has some undisclosed, alternate maths for the next matchups…
You should ease up on your point income if you don’t want to be out of your depth next week. Rolling in 600+ points, you’re just setting your own fate.
I wish it were that simple. Even the general population is capable of holding a point lead. Vabbi is not really a threat and FoW might for the same reason decide not to really push that hard. We already outnumber them most of the times so it is almost certain we are going to come out on top. We had a guild meeting before reset and decided not to push into enemy territory, yet the map turned green within 1 hour after reset… :/

I was running solo supply runs to build oilsites just 1hr ago. Our border was deserted, only 15 guildies around doing maintenance and upgrades accross the entire BL where the rest of the population was in EB and other borders. Twice did I run into a party of 6 enemies, and they only started rendering until I was actually right in their midst… This did not happen pre-patch, I would have seen them coming from far away. I didn’t like the new system they tested in december, and after this happened, it made me remember again how aweful it actually was.
In light of the new announced ranking reset, now is your chance to fight with a nice group of guilds against strong servers in the weeks to come. So guilds, big or small, come help us out ;]
Will be interesting to see how good or how bad we can deal with this situation Anet has put us in.
It might not be the best place to do this, but I’ll take this opportunity to invite the remaining WvW guilds on Vabbi and FoW to come to WSR. WSR has been ping-ponging between tier 8 and 9 for months now, and Vabbi and FoW have been stuck in tier 9 in that same timeframe. Of all 3 servers WSR has the best chance to get back to tier 8 and maybe secure a long term spot there depending on if servers like BT are continuing to drop.
We all know eachother, we played eachother for weeks and weeks on end, let’s just team up and secure a spot in t8. We won’t be a success story rising through the tiers just yet, but we will all have some fun against servers like RoF (great server, good fights the past weeks).
That said, I understand if you guys don’t want to, and in any case good luck in the future.
(edited by skwas.9873)
We are looking for small guilds to join us. If you enjoy smaller scaled fights, guerrilla tactics, no lag, no queues, etc then Whiteside Ridge is the perfect server for you.
Note: We are not looking for big alliances to join us, as this will only upset the tiers and server balance even further. We also do not aim for high tier rankings.
Only a WvW player will type in chat:
“wwwwwwwwwwaaawwasssssssdwwws123123123124124124124”
“ kitten :x”
True that :x
Just a few more days ;]
We were bored ‘getting camped’. Taking one tower to lose it 3 minutes later to either RoF or GH. Still, there were enough GH people in wvw to ring alarm bells and send 20 guys to kill us or at least stall us. GH was defending RoF keep in EB too while we were taking our keep and at least 20 minutes later GH keep (although I can’t exactly say how many, but we were outmanned when we started our run, could have been RoF too, I don’t know). So at least 40 minutes had passed until we knocked on SM gate… Finally, after we took SM, GH had way more (angry?) people and chased us off the map.
Anyways, I’ll leave it at that. See you all on the battlegrounds soon :]
(edited by skwas.9873)
Could you please dare to do golems at around 6-7 pm GMT I want to have some corpsedancing
Cheers to all GH players for having 500 income through the night
Yes, because doing it in primetime as the lowest wvw pop server makes absolute sense.
Well done WSR
Keep up the fight and keep WvW interesting
Thanks man :]
Actually, we had too many golems left. The initial goal was to take our keep and our side of EB. After completing that, we took them to GH’s keep. We didn’t actually expect to make that, since by now I assumed GH would have rallied (you guys and RoF were still active in our border since we just came from there and basically gave that up). Opposition at GH keep was again minimal, and after taking it we still had our golems left with minor damage. At that point GH started showing up taking their keep back, so we ported back to spawn, made a few more golems and just for kicks had a stab at SM, again not really expecting much of success.
Now I know that the naysayers will say, you caught us of guard, many of us are inactive/doing PvE, but the reality is it could happen in more balanced matches too. It just shows that you can never feel safe.
Anyways, thanks for a fun night WSR and GH. Although it still felt for the most part a little one-sided, not ticking more than 60 points or something during primetime, it was still fun.
PS: RoF tsss capping all the easy stuff that we left behind…
Hats off to WsR for taking SM. Not so much for leaving so many Mesmers alive inside lol. But seriously well done guys, i wish i was in WvW tonight.
That was not the point of the exercise. If you or any other GH really think we actually intended to keep SM all night, then, lol. I’ve spotted multiple GH inside, but we didn’t care.
gn
With best regards ;D
Just saying, I’ve seen how CH operates and manages their pushes. Portals or not in this case, I was just generally speaking. I know you guys are dangerous and fearless and pack a serious punch, and that pugzergs don’t stand much of a chance generally :]
[edit] And as far as our numbers, again, the whole WSR wvw population was concentrated on 1 map and only the top section of it, since that’s all we had to work for at that time ;]
(edited by skwas.9873)
We were there once and got wiped once. It was mostly a group of pugs that wiped there a few times in a row. I told them to back out because I saw the portals, invis pushes and later the flank coming from miles away, as I was observing from longview and discussing new plans since we had Cloaa inside bay for a long time already :]
That actually ruined it for us there, since they kept your presense in the area high.
(edited by skwas.9873)
Personally this does not seem like a very enticing thought to me. Culling, lag, etc. More then likely we will roam other area’s. In fact, I think it’s too bad if this goes ahead. Removes an opportunity for last day sneak attacks to the ‘safe’ GH border :p We’ve tried it before and both failed and succeeded before. It’s just a matter of picking time and place. Guess friday is out of the question then.
Thanks Demannu, but that’s actually what WSR is better at, compared to the more larger scale battles, since we have always been low on numbers and in bottom tiers. This is the typical playstyle you will find on any bottom tiered server. There simply aren’t enough ppl to cover every tower, keep and camp. WSR is not about having dozens of people everywhere, and not about zerging. We do have commanders and form bigger groups when needed, and obviously pugs will tag along, but mostly we are scattered in small groups throughout the maps doing what needs to be done, and with style ;]
(edited by skwas.9873)
Some may be, others certainly aren’t. I am one of the latter. I prefer to be outnumbered.
o7
Wish the rest of them were like you
Not seen much of IMP at all this week
We’re bored
Now you have time to upgrade GH bay again.
Unfortunately, RoF took it from us after us doing the hard work, but hey… we are getting used to that. Many thanks to the very few WSR participants, a true joint guild effort of 1-2 man per guild ;D.
(edited by skwas.9873)
While it might be disheartening to be looking at a green map in a morning. There is a great sense of pride turning the place back the right way round, especially against overwhelming odds
I’m growing to love the against the odds victories so much its worth the massive pummellings on the way. Its so satisfying destroying a larger force with a small one
Unfortunately the Russians wake up earlier than the rest of our server matchup so its to be expected we’ll wake up to a green desert
Yeah, we had to wake up with our upgraded keeps and sm gone and to find them having several Waypoints, we loved destroying those.
Xaoc wasn’t particulary good at defending.
Or zerging for that matter… It is just a never ending flood of bodies and lootbags. While they surely keep you busy and make our progress alot more slowly than you’d want taking an objective back, I didn’t find it particularly challenging, unlike running into a 10-man CH or NP group (to name a few)… yikes!
All I can say is that my opinion has now changed, win or lose, don’t take it lying down.
That’s the spirit!
Yes, WSR guild GM’s, small groups/guilds, individuals, can send me a /w. We want to reorganize in the weeks to come (both internal and inter-guild). TEO is also working on training sessions for everyone interested, so expect those too.
We are getting used to losing guilds and flipping between t7-8-9 (8-9 mostly as of late :x), but still have had a decent influx of new players since christmas, so hopefully we can get you guys on board after you levelled and farmed your legendaries :p
Hi Cross, I was there shortly, and I don’t agree with your pov. First of all, the entire WSR border was wiped clean by GH, and so we all decided to just leave it (we were running around there getting zerged from 2 sides by an easy 50-60 GH) and just help at overlook, which was clearly in trouble. Overlook was hit from many angles, trebs, cata’s etc, and were definately outnumbered for a good while, until we started to win some fights here and there. I think that when we own only one keep, two towers and a camp in the entire 4 maps that WSR doesn’t have to feel bad about taking this course of action to get rid of the next 3 trebs that were clearly a big threat to overlook.
That said, some good fights overall, especially in Pangloss tunnel, and underground.
On 2nd note, why did none of the 3 trebs on the hills south of overlook take out the one we were building (and used to take out your 3 in 5 shots…)?
Well that was fun! :p
This week consisted of some epic fights, where we had to scramble our (often outnumbered) joined forces accross several maps. TEO was active both in our own border, EB and we made several trips together with allied guilds to both GH and RoF borders when we saw a chance.
As Ventus said, and apparently even our opponents noticed (thanks Starhejm ;D) we had alot invested in our own border. At the first signs of trouble we went to investigate and were able to stop alot of (small scaled) assaults. Most memorable probably (was it sunday or monday?) where we had both GH and RoF pay us a visit and were attacked at our 3 keeps at once, but we managed to hold on to all 3. Later during the week lost garrison and bay multiple times, but since we where still flipping points with RoF we kept the upgrades going, hoping we could pull through for 2nd.
During the last 3 evenings (of which 2 I was not available) it was apparent WSR had problems fielding the numbers to stop the constant incoming onslaught from GH and RoF (who obviously were keen on securing 2nd place). After last night and with upcoming reset, it is apparent that the upgrades for today will be in vain, so we will save our cash for next week. Which… will be a challenge with again 3 guilds leaving WSR.
It was a fun week, and I can’t really remember such good fights since launch really, so mad props to all servers, guilds and players.
As far as transfering, we have had multiple invites from GH by now, and thank you for the consideration. At this point we are not really considering a transfer, and will see how things will turn out for the weeks to come. We probably will take the chance of dropping yet again a tier in a week or so, to start working on better (counter)tactics, and coordination with other (new?) guilds, when we don’t have to worry about getting hammered whereever we go ;D
(edited by skwas.9873)
WvW is absolutely unplayable now. Prior to todays patch there were cases of invisible armies yes, but now everyone and everything is invisible, npc’s, enemies and friendlies except for minions lol. After teleporting to spawn, even waiting for 5 minutes doesn’t fix it. I have to load back to Lion’s Arch and back into WvW… :x
