I submitted a support ticket and they linked me to the forums main page. I assumed there would have been an official Arena Net response here since they referred
me to it, but I guess not.

i haven’t even looked into the Vial of Green Goo but i bet i don’t even wanna know lol I was lucky and got the endless bat tonic for 145g as its 500-600 atm. Come on Anet, this is deserving of legendary armor status and even legendarys are not this hard to make.

The vial isn’t actually all that bad. 20 ectos, 50 pristine toxic spores, 50 vials linseed, 50 lumps glass. I’ll make it once I’ve got my guild hall’s first tavern.

The tonic is the main thing. I’m tempted to post it in the wish-list thread in Players Helping Players except I don’t know that I could ever pay it forward. Yeah, I should have gone for it when it was in the 60 gold range, I just didn’t foresee this enormous spike.

Time to look into the gems to gold conversions … if I’m willing to spend x dollars on an outfit in the gem store, I should be willing to spend that on a crucial piece of these lovely shoulders.

So far I have everything except 150 of the Glacial Lodestones as I’m waiting on prices to drop a bit on that 1st, and the 300 viles of linseed oil which is the main thing for me. Prices on this at the lowest point have been well over 1k gold to buy them on the TP and if you decide to craft it yourself instead of buying it, you will need to harvest 6000 Flax Seeds and 1500 milling stones.
So far I have crafted Sunrise, Twilight, Eternity, Meteorlogicus, and Rodgort. None of these were as difficult or expensive as these shoulders are going to be. That’s fine though, let it be hard. Just make it so you get what you are earning though, and let it be a legendary piece =)

Just wanted to add another thought in the spirit of Anets new legendary weapons being account bound. Items such as the night fury, or anything thats just really hard to get in general. Perhaps Anet team could make sure these items are crafted only by materials that are account bound. This would force players to earn these items without being able to short cut it by dropping ridiculous amounts of cash bought gold into the trading post.

Since it requires extremely expensive materials and many of them at that, including a gift designed to make a legendary weapon, they should keep it hard to get but at least convert it to a legendary armor piece. 6k Flax Seeds and 1.5k milling Stones is an insane amount to farm. 300 Linseed Oil at 5-8 gold per bottle is enough to make you want to resort to the insane flax and milling stone farm.
The gift of darkness requires 100 Onyx Lodestones, but on top of that, this thing requires 250 Glacial Lodestones. i haven’t even looked into the Vial of Green Goo but i bet i don’t even wanna know lol I was lucky and got the endless bat tonic for 145g as its 500-600 atm. Come on Anet, this is deserving of legendary armor status and even legendarys are not this hard to make.

I agree on Spirit Watch as well even though I like that map. Most groups I get into ignore the orb and focus cap everything in sight expecting to win, then get confused when the team that didn’t cap anything wins the match because they ran orbs as a group. So, yeah maybe for maps like that they should make a separate category for and for mandatory maps they should focus on more standard style of pvp premise. The only one that I cannot stand however is sky-hammer.

I forgot to mention the dishonorable status duration. I will leave sky-hammer every time this broken systems tries to force me into it. A 3 day ban from pvp for doing that will not encourage me or people like me to waste my time by staying in such a match, in fact such a long duration on the only part of this game that still has me partially interested in it will just end up making me and those like me jump on board with a different game.
I have spent a lot of time and money on gw2 and a lot on time on gw1, but extremely long unjust punishments seems like enough to make anyone frustrated enough to abandon such a flawed system. I know that a lot of Guild Wars 2 is still in development and obviously not perfected yet, but that’s all the more reason to not hand out such long punishments as we will likely just end up being punished for the failures of the gw2 staff. If the goal of the gw2 staff is to keep people interested in content and encourage them to play and purchase gems etc, arbitrarily handing out such punishments for such lengths of time in such unjust situations would seem to be one step shy of telling your fan base that you hate them and never want to see them again. People might actually hate unjust punishments more than you think.
Now for this 3 day pvp ban for no fault of my own, I probably won’t quit gw2 completely. In fact I’m pretty sure that I’ll check in every 6 months or so and see if things are fixed yet. I’m pretty sure that something like this would have to happen at least twice for me to give up gw2 permanently. It is in my opinion one of the best mmos currently available but to counter that, unjust punishment is the quickest way to make me change that opinion. The second quickest way would be to try to force me into a broken mechanic with noway to pass or leave. Today both of these things happened and the second repeatedly. Evertime I tried to pvp t would be sky-hammer and everytime I would just exit to deak top and come back later [ I suppose thats why I got the day pvp ban] but as I stated in my original thought, an option to pass on that map would have been an easy fix and I know that staff has been aware of that map being problematic for sometime now, so honestly I believe that it is staffs fault that I was forced to leave those matches.
To me, a pass option would have been an effective method to solve these issues when they were 1st brought to the forums. In fact I would say that it would qualify as a common sense solution kind of like a “don’t blow dye your hair in the bathtub” kind of common sense but in all fairness it seems that common sense is anything but common these days.
Ah well, what can you do =) Anyway have fun and I’ll check back in game around July to see if its still broke =p

Sky-hammer is simply a gimmick kb, fear, or yank map that revolves around holding a key point. If you do not hold that point then you cannot cap and you cannot hold that point unless you spend the whole match launching people off a cliff or through glass etc I never get in with a team that can manage the map even if i can wrestle control of the sky-hammer. If i don’t get control of it, no other teammates try and I can’t cap without being blasted to death by it.
If people like the map, probably the same type of people who enjoy pvp spawn camping and gank squads, that’s fine for them.
Personally I will not play that map. Since switching characters to leave the map doesn’t work, so when it comes up [which seems way too often btw] I exit gw2 and play lotro or some other game and return to pvp later. If there were an option to pass on that map when Q pops, it would completely solve all these problems.
On a side note, I noticed that I can switch to my Mesmer when that map pops up and calibrate sky-hammer right before the match starts, lay down a portal and when the match does start I can portal back to a calibrated sky-hammer and use temporal curtain to yank people of the edges or into a broken glass as they enter. I noticed that doing this takes absolutely no skill what so ever. I would just rather not play a Mesmer or screw people over with such an exploit.

I’m having a very similar problem It says that I have 301 out of 301 Hearts 496 out of 507 waypoints 699 out of 710 points of interest 202 out of 202 skill points and 261 out of 266 vistas. I have done everything except heart of the mists dungeons and karka island as they are not supposed to be required.

I have accepted the challenge as I been after my badges, I just don’t want to have to wait for my guild or some random zerg to take down the strongholds that I need. I still plan to WvW after map completion as I want about 2500 badges.

I’m having a problem with the map completetion requirements concerning WvW. If you guys would like to make PvP a requirement for PvE accomplishments that’s fine, but please don’t make points of interest and vistas in locations that are only accessible by taking an enemy stronghold. I’ve been in WvW for more time than it took me to complete PvE map completion. I joined a WVW Guild and have been playing 27/7 minus about 6 hours sleep per day.
All this and it still is far from completeion. The guild will only hit strategic targets for keeping high points and I can’t take over the stongholds needed alone. I suggest making these areas accessible without having to take over enemy strongholds. After all, 500 badges are still required to get a legendary weapon but they at least can be aquired durring strategic attacks and defending.

ArenaNet has always liked to create a lot of holiday content. Now that Halloween is over, they are likely working on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s events. I personally appreciate the time and effort that they put into making so much entertaining content for us.
That being said, I think that they are getting a bit ahead of themselves. In their good natured eagerness to make content for their fans, I think that they have forgotten the importance of building on a solid foundation. They have dedicated fans from about 7 years of satisfying Guild Wars 1 content, but they also have many new players that were lured in by the games beauty and mechanics. Even for the diehard veterans, serious bugs like this can leave them with a poor gaming experience and therefore a bad impression on Guild Wars 2 in general.
Just as a person should master walking before they try to run or put a concrete foundation down before building a house, ArenaNet should fix all priority bugs before worrying about adding content. I would say that fixing any bug that impedes game progress would be a good example of building a strong foundation. Sure there will be minor bugs that could be annoying, but if it doesn’t block progression through game content it could be put off until after the holidays.
I do know that ArenaNet has the ability to fix serious problems very quickly from my experiences in GW1. An example that several of you may remember is the unanticipated affect of a skill called “By Uriel’s Hammer”. An unanticipated affect was the resurrection of fallen ritualist spirits. This affect allowed a team of ritualists to easily speed clear an elite area called the Underworld.
I was seriously impressed at how quickly they fixed that bug and any other bug over the years that either gave someone an advantage in PvP or enabled players to solo farm a rare product. I believe that these two areas are of their highest priority, that’s ok by me but I think that story progression into game content should at least be 3rd on the list. Then added content such as expansions and holiday events could be 4th.

Being compensated for the bug is unrealistic as all games of this size and magnitude encounter a large number of bugs in its earlier stages. If they were to compensate everyone affected by a bug, they would spend more time doing that than fixing the problems. As far as no monthly fee being a gift, I think it’s more in the lines of a marketing strategy. People tend to shy away from adding monthly bills because they are inconvenient and they take away from a sense of owning what you earn in game. People with the funds don’t mind paying large one time purchases if they feel like they bought something that they can own, such as in the gem store. Most games are going free to play and focusing on in game store sales. To solve this problem and ones like it, it might be a good idea to block bugged quest options once reported in great number and to restart story line for the accounts requesting it on account of such progress blocking bugs. This solution could even be too resource intensive, but it’s a thought xD
