Did you ever read the last huge patch notes concernig s/d nerfs? Check it! Anet wont nerf the last viable thief build twice in a row, so guys stop this meaningless discussion about thieves… Every single suggestion for a change in this topic would decapitate this build. I believe Anet wont even consider this topic(nerfing again thieves). Maybe thieves should get some buffs?? To be more competitive?

In my opinion, that combination of weapons is more for dueling than team fights, but I know it can be a lot of fun.
Try inf signet instead of scorpion wire… it’s a lot more reliable and does pretty much the same thing (gets you and the enemy at the same place). With that weapon set you can pull off the CnD, steal, weapon switch, backstab too.
Thx for the tip;) I know inf signet is better but i wanna try something new. Scorpion wire works also as interrupt ( 1sec knockdown) every 16sec. With daze on steal, stun on elite skill and pull from SW it can be nasty combination.

Something like that suggestion of increasing initiative cost when used more than one time in a short timeframe would be fine, imho.
This would decapitate last viable thief builds in pvp.

Indeed. After 28th June you will say Poor trap Thieves and again Poor venom condi Thieves = never ending story.
Try playing s/d in duels with better pvp players. You will realize its not OP like ppl saying on this forum. That is first thief build wich actually can be a “little” help in tpvp and because of that this s/d should be nerfed?Thief has no decent burst anymore. Pro teams dont wanna have a thief in parties!!

Devs nerfed CnD then prolong revealed debuff by 1 sec in pvp then nerf mug dmg. There is no skill anymore to be nerfed exept backstab. I imagine in May we will se BS nerf and after that in June Anet will remove thief class from character creation in login. Beside I laugh so much that many ppl cry about d/p thief is so op = the last thief build that can achieve something… Nerf thief to the ground beacuse some guys are whinning all the time. It shoudnt be like this something is really wrong here dudes.

So devs want that thieves shall have the best burst but the changes are quite opposite every patch. CnD nerf, mug nerf so in May = backstab nerf?

yes nerf thief!!! So many thieves play in high rated pvp!! What? Thief in tpvp ? He must be really good man pro player… I wouldnt be shock if someone in near future will say traps from thief are OP nerf it. Body shot? 5 vulnerability OP omg !! Every thief can backstab a noob for 6k crit. You are 100% right. Its very easy.
im playing with D/D offset two sigils of geomancy and quick pocket trait -> constant swapping weapon is must have for me to handle more challenging enemies. DB is very good but hard to master, and you can even backstab some eles with 2-3k dmg ;d with d/d.
I haven’t lost a single 1v1 since playing P/D in PvP and WvW.
Sword/Dagger probably does have the best chance to beat it but it’s still not going to be easy because you need to melee him from behind.
Honestly I don’t know of any build of class that can reliably beat a P/D Thief.
I love fighting P/D thieves. I never lose to one. That’s because I trait Shadow’s Embrace (condition removal on stealth) and Shadow’s Rejuvenation (regenerate health on stealth). A P/D thief simply does not have the burst to kill me when I remove his conditions and heal myself every three seconds.
But I also have to kill all the PvE in the area that we’re fighting because these guys like to cheeze it up and use C&D on random deer and critters to stay hidden. . . .
Its weird, many thiefs told im hacked or very laggy how could they die with those many cond removals? i don know;), and im only average p/d..
i’ve lost to an single p/d thief 1 vs 1 as an D/D thief, i overextended, and at 3k hp i failed use falling damage for an free stealth ^^
P/D weakness – limited mobility.
Poor acces to direct damage
An thief with cond removal on stealth will usualy have no problem vs P/D thieves.
Constant imobilize can also destroy them . Specialy if you got the trait -going stealth blind enemy foes and C&d before them.
p/d has outstanding mobility!!

that kind of argument is the worst one in gw2 ever!
i can tell you i havent lost 1v1 vs any thief playing as p/d.
s/d very irritating, but too low dmg vs decent mobility, s/p stronger type but nothing special, d/d cond meele range.. no chance vs good positioning, d/d glass free kill.

Personally i suggest you to take shadow protector (infinite regen with decent gameplay) above shadow’s embrance and assasin’s reward over pain response. Vigorous recovery or power of inertia, i prefer more second. Hide in Shadow itself can protect you before other condition classes, especially lifeleeching necros, but its not easy.
Burning a dodge is on purpose. With swiftness you can reapply another real CnD on target very fast.
Well dodging will help but it won’t win the fight.
Pistol/Dagger is unbeatable in WvW if played right. It’s far more powerful than any one of those cheesy Backstab builds. It’s just rarely played.
Indeed. Ppl can fight vs nab P/D thief or pro P/D thief. Dodging CnD is pointless vs good ones beacuse they will fake it by dodging towards enemy losing no initiative.
I played P/D since I hit 80 but recently switched to S/D + D/D. I feel like I hard counter P/D. There is nothing they can do. You do need remove conditions on stealth and a way to stealth often though. Dodging C&D is key as well if you don’t want it to drag on.
Infiltrator Strike (#2 from sword) removes 1 condition…

True having both could be overkill vs P/D. Still nice to be pretty much immune to all conditions though and not having to rely on S#2 or Heal to remove them.
Its true, removing many conditions will prolong the fight. Just like vs d/d ele. Nothing is unbeatable with P/D thief but the fact is – it depend on a player.

Better p/d thiefs will just fake cast CnD to force enemy to dodge.
wrong ! Burst thief damage can be countered by every class, that was discussed elsewhere many times. That makes glass thief very squishy vs pro player’s. BUT Condition p/d thief can apply bleeds even 120-150dmg per sec plus poisons (heal reduction <—-) very fast and manage 2-3 players without problems.. Necros ? laughing just read thiers traits and skills and think how to counter it and btw remove your own bleeds when you see your life is fading… The only class which can make real deal vs good p/d thief is ele d/d tank buid with many cond removal and superior aoe casting.. nothing else
Signet of malice is really good. On wvw its outstanding but when you encounter monster pvp players you will change this skill to hide in shadows. Must have. hide in shadows/caltrpos/ shadowstep. Two other skills are your choice. I prefer infiltrator’s signet for another stun break. Its really usefull vs 2-3 good players and some initiative gain cause of new patch you can c&d more and more.
One good dodge in time cancels OP backstab dmg, pls stop crying you guys. The real problem is p/d condition thief. There is no class that can beat them (if they are pro) in 1v1. BS thief is warmp up for them, ubalanced heavily.
P/D condition thief can handle two backstab thiefs and win if he plays well, its just skill level. I dont know why ppl are thinking d/d thief is so op?? P/D should be nerf first;)

I presume the fight will be great;) It is destiny to match our servers -The two most overpowered worlds in gw 2 for now.
