This is nowhere near a bug. All it means is you should watch your opponents to see if they have any stuns or dazes on them before you go spamming more on them.

Hmm with those all animations and flashes?? Im not convinced. It promotes chain cc which is far more effective ofc

But stuns and dazes dont stack in duration anyway. These should be different control effects. The overwriting can save enemy with this type of mechanic. I think second stun or daze should be another icon effect. Chain cc is another story but your example → 4s stun overwritten by 0.5s daze is bug for me:/

S/X weaponset were pretty hard nerfed last big patch.. Everyone included devs; should be aware of that. Touching anything on thief right now would be very big joke. This topic is unwise, weird and funny towards one conquest game mode where thief is mish mash meat.

We didn’t promise anything, we shared our high level road-map plans.

This is why we don’t like sharing dates. I know you’re waiting on things, and the wait is driving me crazy too, but saying we made promises when we clearly did not does not help get the content out sooner.

If you want greater transparency, like I do, then you must accept that dates, features, and plans are not a static promise. Things can happen to shift priorities, dates, or designs, causing things to changed, be pushed back, or accelerated.

I think what you need to understand is that there are obvious balance issues right now and people are frustrated with them. I get that ANET wants to introduce a big feature release with all the excitement of that, but in the meantime, we have smaller problems that could be dealt with now.

My recommendation to ANET is to separate the big features and the smaller changes. Help with some balance.

Its true! Some balance changes should be put with no delay!! 1-2 weeks max no longer. Current changes to wait 4-5 months are so wierd.. In this time new games can appear. Too long for this…

Senso i can feel your pain. Anet didnt response to so many topics.. This is the most wierd tactic ever exist. The bad thing is → they prolong ppl to play more this game by that tactic with nothing. Wait for the solution??. Personally i love this game mechanics but the golden fruit need some special treatment. Shame it for so long recieve none of it…

Can’t tell if you are trolling but D/P thief is one of the easier builds in game. In any game mode in GW2. Period.

You are right, thieves are weak to conditions. Never said they weren’t. I just said that thieves have stealth as a migration to avoid getting attacked or conditions in the first place.

I originally came from Yaks Bend and then transferred to HoD. When PU mesmer first came out I was having a hard time, but I learned how they worked and used their clones against them. What makes thieves so strong is we have all the time in the world and when you realized that you will be a way better thief. I’m still working on it myself.

Maybe in dueling PU mesmers are OP because it is frowned upon to wait in stealth which is why I really don’t duel on my thief.

Also I have thought that we could be in different tiers where average skill is different, maybe we are just facing different difficulties of players which is the reason why our views are conflicting.

Dude im not trolling. If you are thinking WvW is pvp we are losing time seriously. Come try it you will realize thief is soo bottom tier unless you are reallllly pro d/p thief player..

4 months for some bug fixes,, another two to revamp 1 bleed or 4% regen or something else. Its like 1-2 dev person facing bunch of horde maniac players.. Pretty sad for the community.

About engis: a Engi with any skill will not have any problem in using his blocks and Invulns to avoid being backstabbed if he sees the thief avoiding his AoE. Plus, while Shadow Embrace is a good trait for condi removal, the condis put out by a nade engis are usually too many to only rely on SE for cleansing. Also, the Engi has so many interrupt skills that the thief will have a hard time against a good one. I suck as engi and made one just to understand how they work, and guess what, I melt D/P thieves.

About warriors: Their attacks are telegraphed but a D/P does not have any source of Vigor. The only way he could mitigate damage is with blinds, against which Warriors have zerker stance. Also, using hammerstun near the BP field will force a dodge from the thief, making him waste half of his Ini pool. Not to mention the #4 skill insta-aoe knockback, the #3 cripple (usually an immob) and #2 weakness are all great against D/P.

PU mesmers are a counter because if the thief is stealthed to cleanse their condis the thief will not do any damage.

Blinds not affecting D/P thieves is the most fun statement I’ve read in this thread.

Condi Necros have an istant interrupt with Doom. Again, I suck at necro but I kill so many D/P thieves with it that it’s extremely fun.

The only easy thing about D/P is chaining stealth and saying “hey look i’m stealthed you can’t kill me trolololol”. A good player will crush a D/P, period.

A D/P thief can perma stealth. Last time I checked engis do not have perma invuls so eventually the thief will get the backstabs. A thief with a brain isn’t going to stay in the AoE of the engi so there won’t be a lot of conditions to remove. And lastly if the engi wants to interrupt the thief usually they have to see them unless they are using a AoE stun.

For warrior. Now all thieves run the standard 10/30/30/0/0 so there is a chance they are running vigor traits. Secondly for a thief, stealth is a great damage migration tool (Pro Tip) Also the warrior can be stunned to prevent a combo attack or the thief can blind. Berserker stance is only a 8 second skill on a 60 second CD, gives plenty of time for the warrior to be blinded. The problem with D/P is that it is a very very forgiving build to play. So even if the thief gets stunned or immob it really doesn’t matter because they can just perma stealth and regen up to full (The warrior might also be regenerate but it was by the thief’s choice, not the warrior.) And weakness can be removed in stealth before he backstabs.

For PU mesmer: If I recall correctly, PU mesmers really only have bleeds, torment, and confusion, and maybe some others like burning but it doesn’t happen very often. Since they rely on mainly 3 conditions its very easy for a thief to either use Hide in Shadows which will remove the burning, bleed, poison, and another condition. Now they are cleansed and ready to strike again.

Umm haha? I really don’t see how D/P affect by blinds. Their stealth is not hit based so blinds don’t affect it. And if they need to backstab, they miss once and can just stab again since they don’t unstealth. Hence one of the reasons for the OP’s post.

The last viable tpvp thief build will be nerfed soon. I really dont understand this.. Other gimmick more op builds were nearly untouched.. META condi spam stun will still continue. Spirit zoo spam, necors condi spamm (1 bleed less? wtf), guardian bunker, warriors nc… Personally i dont want this type of pvp, shame it has the greatest potential of all mmo games..

The problem with thief class isnt health pool or damage → its survival. After 10th Dec Thief wont be viable class on 5v5 tpvp type(only one type of pvp anyway since launch). If thieves get +20-30% dmg for all weaponsets and 20% more hp after next patch it still wont be viable class THATS THE REAL PROBLEM;)

On the last patch when Anet fixed para sigil which supposed to be “direct” nerf to warriors hurt thieves more!

Pistol whip: 0.5 sec stun nerf (with or without sigil)
Daze shot: 0,75 sec daze nerf (with or without sigil)
Seight of hand: 1 sec daze nerf (with sigil)
Basilisk venom: 0,5 sec stun nerf (with or without sigil)
Tactical strike: 0,5 sec daze nerf (with or without sigil)

and nerf on ls strike to steal only 1 crap buff. Where is the boonhate mechanic which was promised for thieves? What are we doing here?

I just don’t understand why the thief needs this kind of buff. This will allow them to be way more mobile too, and classes like the elementalist constantly have their mobility nerfed but thieves get it buffed. Even now there’s no one that can catch a thief or out kite them.

Nah thief will be in the worst state ever after the patch in my opinion. What thief build will be avaible on tpvp spam after changes? Please help im confused…

So Lets put these changes in one.. There will be no thieves on tpvp after the patch. Reason is simple they will lose 50% of their mobilty due to shadow return nerf as s/d s/p thief. This nerf is more blast than nerfing warrior’s healing signet by -50%hps presuming which of course not occur. Last patch cuts our boon hate skill by 50%. I really dont see the reasoning. Less mobility, joke boonhate, squishy hp, less evades, less init regen due to nerf all traits giving initiative.

Just replacing thief by ele or mesme?. And now on Hotjoins we will see some hybrids thieves doing nothing.

Bad thieves will get nerfed hard, but the good ones will still be good, if not better than they were.

Good thieves already left this game sadly.. Average thieves will leave after 10th Nov.. Bad thieves will leave when they realize the pointless of thief class in tpvp spvp and pve. Very simple and true,

Im playing thief since launch but those changes will force me to reroll class or quit the game. Pvp content is really small and now there will be no thief on tpvp… Sad but true.

SoH is good in current state. I would take of 10% dmg wielding a bundle from improvisation and replace it for something like this:

options
1) stealing converts up to 3 conditions into boons
2) stealing applies random venom
3) after stealing your next attack steal health
4) stealing have chance (30%) to reduce steal cooldown by 50%
