Instead of whining on the forums, participate in the fight:

1. Get in a turret and target the boss.
2. Press skill 2 to remove at least one scale stack because they make him invulnerable at 20.
3. Zerg him down and collect the loot.

Bonus Tip: If you feel pro, use skill 3 to cleanse the green poison that will inevitably land on to of you because fingers aren’t getting killed fast enough.

  • All the upgrade shops are hidden. I don’t see why the upgrades aren’t just free. Finding them is generally hard enough, why do we need to farm baubles to acquire them?

Why do we need to play the game to get any rewards? Why doesn’t ArenaNet give every player every achievement and every item for free?

Just to refresh anyone new to the thread/topic: We accidentally made World 2 too difficult. We released a patch that helped as much as we could afford to risk mucking around with the Live game. We’re keeping tabs of all the feedback and incorporating that into any future releases. Thanks everybody!

I really hope you only mean this for normal mode, because tribulation mode was definitely not “hard.”
There are many players that have been waiting since launch for challenging content, and now we are basically being told that the next content will be even easier. That just can’t be good for the future of the game.

Furthermore, the only reason less players are online is because the rewards are daily and account-wide.

I have no problem if most content updates are for casuals, but there has to be something for the hardcore players once in a while.

Spending six+ hours in one part does not seem casual to me.

If you don’t want to take the time to discover the way on your own, which is a shame for the awesome content, you can always use a guide to speed things up, you know, or even play the Infantile or Normal Mode.

It’s already much easier now after the nerf, the entire W1 is less than 20 minutes, W2Z3 takes at most 25 minutes.

At 1:15 instead of going right, you can go directly left if you dodge jump on the angry stone and then dodge jump towards the checkpoint.
This could improve your time by about another 30sec!

Can you guys just tell me how to spawn next to the cage boss?

End of W2Z3 path across the Yeti Bridge

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

showtime.9175

I noticed that it’s possible to jump onto the No-No Cloud to cross the bridge to the waypoint. It seems that most players are using this exploit rather than taking the normal way that involves climbing up towards the yellow bauble and then jumping in parallel to the bridge on the ledges of the mountain.

This exploit isn’t that bad, but it does trivialize a good part of the challenge at the end of W2Z3.

My suggestion to fix the exploit would be to place an additional No-No clouds on the right and raise the left one so that it can no longer be jumped onto.

I’m permanently carrying 750 baubles and have now started to deposit them in my bank whenever I get out of SAB. I bought the ICC initially, but I realize it wasn’t at all necessary. 750 baubles represents 150 lives. You can max out on coins in a single tribulation mode level. Do you really die more than 150 times per level? If the answer is yes, I would recommend trying infantile or normal mode.

I don’t believe that you couldn’t get past the rapids, since those were nerfed extremely hard by the recent update. They’re a joke now.

Tribulation Mode is meant to be challenging. It doesn’t reward anything gamebreaking. You don’t even get a new skin, only a new color. Why do so many people complain on the forums until the challenging content gets removed from those it was made for. I liked it much better pre-nerf.

A life costs 5 baubles. Completing a single zone gives you at least 500 baubles in TM. If you die more than 100 times per zone after completing it once, why are you playing in tribulation mode?

Why are you even attempting to play in Tribulation Mode? The developers clearly stated multiple times that this mode was designed only for the most hardcore players and should be frustratingly hard like I Wanna Be The Guy. Yet still, after playing both games, I can tell you that SAB TM even pre-nerf is nowhere near as hard as IWBTG. I personally find TM pre-nerf to be too easy, but it was still a challenge and that’s why there are different difficulty settings, so that every type of player gets some content. Why should every content be handed to you on a plate?

If the infinite coin is pay to win simply because it allows you to complete content faster, then nearly everything on the gem store can be considered pay to win. Exp, Karma, Crafting, Glory, and WXP boosters all allow people who purchase them to complete content faster. Heck, the swim speed booster allows to complete water based content faster than other. GW2 PvE endgame is largely based around collecting skins. I can buy a number of great looking skins off the gem store, allowing me to get a better appearance faster than other players. The infinite gathering tools allow me to collect all the resources I want without having to buy more tools. Therefore I can do it faster than others. Additional bag slots allow me to keep more items in my inventory and not have to visit a vendor as often, allowing me to complete a wide variety of content faster. Bank/Merchant/TP Express items allow me to quickly access those services anywhere, allowing my to do content faster since I don’t have to go back to a city. Most of these things have been available since launch. Why are you guys just now deciding to cry about pay to win?

The coin is a convenience item. The horse is dead, please stop beating it.

You are speaking my mind. I don’t understand how the infinite continue coin is any different from the other things you cited.

Since the game’s release, I was waiting for an update that would add challenging content.

This month for the first time, ArenaNet managed to add something that reasonably qualifies. However, through complaining on the forums from players that were not even targeted by that content, you managed to make them nerf it to the level of all other content in the game.

Tribulation Mode was supposed to be hard. After the recent changes, it no longer is.

Why was it not possible to leave that one content as is, for the people who wanted to have a challenge that way? It wasn’t even part of the meta achievement.

I’m still glad that I was able to play through the whole TM world 1 and 2 without any guides available, before the update, and I want to thank Josh and the other devs for creating this challenging content. I would have loved to play through it again, but unforunately it is now gone.

Yes and no. Yes, they ‘fixed’ a bit too much for trib (oh, the geysers…). And no, very few ppl could complete even zone 1 in world 1 on trib given 5 hours (did it all with them, and many would quit half way at most :P)

Wouldn’t it then be a good idea to try normal mode first? Tribulation Mode wasn’t intended to be completed by anyone outside of the most hardcore players.

Is there even any reason to have different difficulty modes, if the hardest difficulty gets nerfed to the point where anyone can complete it given a few hours of time?

I predict that W2Z3 is the next to be nerfed, once more casual players complete W2Z2.
It’s still the hardest zone, and remains mostly untouched by the update.

I would love if it stayed that way, but I’m sure the complaining will start soon enough.

In view of the recent nerf, Tribulation Mode has unfortunately been turned from challenging content into not much more than what used to be Normal Mode plus a few hidden traps.

After restarting my game, I tried World 2 Zone 1 and finished it within 20 minutes and almost no deaths.

Before the patch, I was having fun figuring out better solutions to challenges like the Log River, the Moving Geysiers or the Coin House. These used to require figuring out the patterns, but now it seems that you can walk through it just by bashing your head against them.

The designers have stated that TM should play like “I Wanna Be The Guy” and be only for the most hardcore players. Although I didn’t find it to be as hard as IWBTG, it was still a great piece of content until the patch streamlined away all the options for creativity.

The current patch notes would seem fitting if they applied only to normal mode. I would like to see Tribulation Mode returned to its old state which was perfectly fine for the intended player audience.

Whether you take your time to farm enough gold to buy an Infinite Coin, or you spend it farming regular Continue Coins is just an efficiency trade-off.

This sort of side-progression does nothing to harm the core game philosophy and provides an interesting alternative gameplay style to keep things varied.

We’re not here to bikeshed, let’s instead focus the thread on how awesome Tribulation Mode turned out and what more challenging content can add to the game.

I’d be delighted to see a little more spice in the next installment of Super Adventure Box.

Since this is my favorit update up to now, of course I bought the Infinite Continue Coin to support Arena Net.

But if you want to play tribulation mode, you should buy it anyway. It’s also good for experimenting and searching for secret stuff because you will die more often than if you were just running straight to the end.

As already meantioned, we didn’t use a guide because it’s much more fun to find out yourself. Nevermind that there was no guide at the time.

If you have a lot of free time, I definitely recommend doing it that way.

There were places like the coin house that require actual thinking to complete.

We took like 30 minutes to figure out the trap patterns and write them down so that we could get to the bottom together with the coin. Once we got it, that part actually felt too short like there should be more floors.

But that’s only one example among many.
