Short version:
1) Received several password reset emails overnight, and an email from ArenaNet saying an attempt to access my account was made from an IP in China (I live in the UK)
2) Eventually managed to get ArenaNet to change my account email address
3) Still getting password reset emails every day
4) Customer support didn’t tell me if my account had been compromsed or give me any information about why I was getting these emails
So here I am, wondering why I’m getting password reset emails every day, and wondering if my account has been hacked. Anyone have any idea?
Basically what I would like suggestions for is a profession that is good for solo PvE questing, good ranged attacks but can deal with enemies if they get too close, and does not require much weapon swapping to be effective (this bit is important – I want to use the same weapon all the time unless I switch to ranged/melee). I will not do PvP so please do not take into account how good or bad a class is in PvP.
I have a guardian at level 15 and a ranger at level 18 at the moment. My guardian feels powerful but I suck at playing melee in big group zergs during heart quests etc, I find it too confusing with all the spell effects around me, it’s difficult to see what is going on. My ranger is ok but my pets feel useless, they die all the time, ranger abilities feel boring to me and I die too easily if I get attacked by groups.
tl;dr:
Good for solo PvE
Effective with melee and ranged
Minimal weapon swapping
Not guardian or ranger
Well first things first, YES I have no life and YES I could be considered a “fanboy”. However, with this being said I am still having trouble putting the game down for more then an hour even after near 350 hours of play. Let’s be honest how many people have done every explorable dungeon line with ease (excluding bugged ones). I know I haven’t.
When it comes to PvE I want to figure out what we as a player-base are doing wrong in these dungeons. It’s hard to find people who will do dungeons and try different builds to complete them easily. The common response is why would I do that when X dungeon is so EASY. So all those people seeking endgame how about helping the community and I figure out how to do some of these paths like CoF path 2.
As for PvP, which I have barely touched, I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours there, but again it is hard to find people who actually want to play SPvP. Most people think WvW is the limit to PvP which by the way, anyone willing to actually pose a threat to HoD?
So my challenge to all the endgame seekers is to figure out a way to do these “hard” dungeons and share your knowledge and help the community. If that isn’t for you then start a guild and max it out and try to dominate in WvW.
Provided a screenshot of hours played.
Thanks for your time.
Dude, you’ve played on average just under 14 hours a day, every day for 25 days. No offence but that doesn’t seem healthy to me :o
Anything with a ‘Haha, now you see me, now you don’t!’ mechanic. Seriously, just reappear/come out of the ground so I can kill you already /yawn
Why dost thou speaketh of kittens?
Does it matter? It takes like 2 seconds.
Not for people without superfast broadband it doesn’t.
People say it takes more finesse or skill, but when you have to put in more effort to do worse or the same damage as other professions something is wrong.
I don’t really think that more effort is a bad thing – just a preference people have. Keep in mind, this is my personal opinion, but I prefer not to be on cruise control while staying on par with other people, then again, I need an upbeat play style or things get stagnant for me pretty fast.
I wouldn’t say that something is wrong, however, as Mesmer’s really are a support role, but man what a support role they are! Have an experienced Mesmer in a dungeon with you and you’ll notice the difference!
I don’t feel the need to feel like I’m putting in more effort than other people. That may be what gives some people enjoyment. What’s fun for me is killing things as fast as possible. In comparison to my guardian, the mesmer takes longer to kill things. For me it’s as simple as that. It does have some fun mechanics, but I feel killing time is too long. I will keep playing it to see if it gets any better as I become higher level.

I’m leveling a mesmer at the moment and it takes forever to kill anything compared to my guardian. Scepter damage is horrible. The offhand gun is okay, its phantasmal duellist does a nice bit of damage. Greatsword autoattack damage is horrible. On my guardian I can jump in and with a few swings of my greatsword everything’s dead.
The only MMOs I’ve had installed on my machine are EVE Online and WoW. After a bit more investigation it turns out EVE uses it. Seeing as I don’t play EVE any more I’m going to remove it.
I think your mistake is to think that Guild Wars 2 is about ‘gearing up’ in the same way as progression based MMOs. If you don’t, then my apologies. In terms of gear, you can farm karma some for the of the level 80 items. Not sure what else, I’m yet to reach level 80 myself.
I read that, but I’ve never played LOTRO.
Also I just found this: http://us.ncsoft.com/en/launcher/ncsoft-launcher.html
“Why is the NCsoft Launcher asking me to install Pando?
Pando Media Booster is a small application that accelerates the streaming and downloading of high quality media. The NCsoft Launcher uses Pando to download media from multiple sources at blazing-fast speed, so you start enjoying your games faster”
I read that this is a major bandwidth leech, so I’d like to know if I can safely remove it.
complete an area. The coin bonus for map completion is rediculously high!
My reward for Hoelbrak completion was 1 copper.
I was looking through my startup folder and found a program called Pando Media Booster. On investigation it seems it’s some sort of p2p program used by NCsoft amongst others. Is this program used by Guild Wars 2 and, if so, can I safely remove it?
