Just ran into this issue while trying to map out Cursed Shores… so annoying, so stupid… I don’t know why they can’t let Glint be usable underwater.

Anyway, I propose this: If you’re running a skill that requires upkeep, and dive into the waters, keep that skill active. If you cannot maintain that upkeep while underwater (due to combat), remove its effect and set the associated skill’s recharge to that as though the secondary skill was activated. However, should you change your legendary to one that’s compatible with underwater combat, then use the aforementioned idea of removing the effect.

Did a quick test run of HoT on multi-monitor resolution (3x 1680×1050, or 5040×1050). Found out that the gliding endurance meter is not centered.

No, I didn’t switch to the resolution and started playing. I switched to the aforementioned resolution and then restarted the game entirely.

This is on a nvidia SLI surround configuration. I do not know if the same also effects Eyefinity users on the Radeon side of things. In any case, please look into this usability issue. It may not be game-breaking. But it certainly isn’t good to turn your head just to check your gliding endurance.

Unify the LS tokens

This is something that has been bugging me for a while. With Dry Top having a fairly consistent tier4, the price of ambrite weapon recipes has been flat and expensive. What boggles the mind is that the final Dry Top area release jacked up the price where it becomes a grind and a snorefest to get when compared to before. (350 at tier5 then compared to 340 of t6 now)

Now with the release of the Silverwastes, it’s fairly easy to get a ton of Bandit Crests to get whatever anyone wanted (be it the Carapace Box, the Dust Mite tonic, or the Caithe’s Blossom). I don’t mind getting a ton of them. Yet it’s missing a few things.

We need these LS tokens to be unified and/or put into the wallet system. At the moment, both the geodes and the bandit crests are eating up space, space which are valuable to anyone who has yet to maximize their inventory capacity (be it bag slots or having all 20-slot bags). Having run the Silverwastes for a week now, I’ve already amassed over 2000 bandit crests and have acquired whatever I wanted. I currently have close to 1000 sitting in the inventory just in case you (ArenaNet) decide to add more stuff to the vendor.

A unified LS token will remove the need to have space-eating tokens and will make it easier to simplify the process of acquiring LS items for whatever purpose. In essence, it removes the need to grind out at Dry Top for ambrite weapon recipes.

I can only think of a couple of benefits from having a unified LS currency token:

1) less space taken up. If the token is not to be added to the wallet system, it is one less inventory spot taken up by a different currency token (and more if another currency token are added in future LS chapters).

2) enables players to purchase LS items from vendors that used to take geodes and bandit crests.

Now, one obvious drawback is that it may make Dry Top and even more abandon and empty map. But given that the final Dry Top area release created an unnecessary “tier 6” pricing structure, it’s probably not a wonder a lot of people simply gave up and ditched the place. And while there may be other alternative ideas (such as creating a static per-character flag of Zeph Favor), this is probably the most needed given the implied direction we’re heading.

Okay, I’m not that hardcore nor that crazy enough to burn through so much money and stack up over 10k ToT bags to open. But in total over the course of two weeks, I’ve estimated that I’ve burned through 4500 to 5000 bags. Out of them all, I’ve got one Zuzu, about 4 or 5 pillowcases, and tons of other stuff.

It was mentioned by Gaile that the mini is dropping as designed. Well nobody can argue that the mini is dropping at all. But for Anet to say that it’s as designed, I find it ridiculous. I’ve been on the short end of the stick for over two years and have always known that I have terrible luck when it comes to drops. No precursor from a mob (all that I’ve acquired — 4 of them — were via TP and Forge). Yet I can personally tolerate that. After all, that particular reward is available year-round.

What I couldn’t tolerate is the dismal randomness when it comes to this particular mini. It’s account-bound, low chance, and as elusive as a Mini Polar Bear from GW1. And trying to get that mini irritates me.

Random, chance, I understand all of it. We take our chances when it comes to opening a bunch of them. What I don’t understand is how I cannot get one after burning up to 5000 of those bags. One of the massive opening was 1500. Another was 2000. Both instances I did not get this mini. Yet out of all of them, there was 1 Zuzu. But at least Zuzu was available from the TP and can be acquired for 12 cobs. So there are other methods of acquisition. I am fine with that. And now that I have 2 Zuzu in total, the other can be either given away or sold on TP. But not being able to acquire this mini, despite that I have put time, effort, and gold into getting those bags, baffles me.

The drop rate is crap. I say either give us a better shot at it or make it generally available (aka not account bound) or via merch for cobs or other currency (not gems :P). I’m very disappointed in how this turned out. I can’t be bothered to play the game for hours on end and farm for thousands of bags for this.

Been having lag in Dry Top all night. Won’t believe how frustrating it is to get to the goggles when lag prohibits you from activating the wind jump skill for a good 1-3 seconds.

Skimmed thru the linked reddit page. Saw that someone has already asked about the idea of querying one’s buy/sell orders. It may be an unknown for now but here’s to hoping that the v2 API will expand on it. I guess for the time being, we’ll have to settle for price queries. I await the day when I can load up an app and check on my buy/sell offers w/o having to jump in-game.

Yes, my realm is last place and with the bonus 100, it’s enough to get a Mistforged.

I question as to whether or not the 250 Badges is in addition to the 200 tix. If not and that the Gift is supposed to be also available to others for 250 Badges, then I would say this is acquisition method is missing. (and I would rather spend my now 300 tix on 3 Hero weapons and upgrade ’em via Badge route)

The long map loading is starting to get ridiculous now. I wonder if this is a conspiracy to reduce people traversing through LA to minimize waypoint cost.

Like many who has posted before me, I run kitten (Samsung 830 128GB) for the OS and for a few games, including GW2. Map loading on LA felt twice as long and using waypoints inside the city would take much longer to load.

I’m starting to get pretty aggravated when loading any map now…

I’m going to go out on a limb here and present a similar scenario. Maybe it’ll shed some light on the matter.

First, the OP mentions of the game changing resolution from the usual 1920×1080 to an Eyefinity-sized resolution. As I have played in Eyefinity on my dual 6950 in Crossfire a while ago, I have noticed similar behavior before. But it was more a random thing. Of one of these instance, I have somewhat tracked it down to the “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager” service. I run a fancier visuals for my desktop so I also have 3rd-party applications to spice up my desktop experience. So during the times when the game happens to auto-change from my single-monitor resolution to triple-monitor resolution, I also noticed that all the window borders don’t have their transparent effects. A restart of this service would fix this.

Is there a solution to this? Maybe and maybe not. I often keep my drivers up to date, especially if it pertains to performance enhancements or possible fixes related to the game. So it helps to keep the drivers up to date.

Second thing to possibly to try is to turn on the “Disable desktop composition” in GW2’s shortcut (Properties → Compatibility tab). In theory, this may either eliminate the spontaneous resolution switch or make it less frequent.

Third and last idea in mind is to kill off Aero and any transparency effects on Windows. This is assuming that you’re one of the people who have stuck with Windows 7 or Vista. I’ll be assuming that Windows 8 has no such option since they’ve killed the whole Aero desktop composition feature altogether.

Anyway, best of luck to trying to solve the problem.

I do not know when and how it started… all I know is that it is recent. Nowadays I cannot even bring up the BLTC window w/o it giving me a blank content. This only happens after a lengthy session. It’ll work at first. But later on or at some point, it dies out.

Restarting the game? Not an option. I’m trying to play the game while selling a few good items off. This isn’t Windows 9x where rebooting is a recurring theme. It all worked fine before. So something really broke in one of these updates.

Bought character slot.....

I just snagged two character slots today… and ended up getting 3 instead of 2.

I can’t even recall if I bought a character slot during the beta… but if this is an issue that has lingered since the beginning, why do we never see this “bonus” slot until we make our first slot purchase? Why can’t these be revealed so we know that we got extra as a result of this quirky issue?

Now, I’m all for accidental freebies. It happens. But when you have a character slot that had been lingering since beta but it was never visible nor accessible to you, then I question as to why such a thing was never properly fixed, or even noted at all. All this time, I’ve been playing thinking that I have 5 slots to use. And never had it ever crossed my mind that I had a hidden 6th as a possible result of buying one during the beta.

I’ve been keeping tabs whenever possible on any potential updates to the Eyefinity issue. Yes, those using nvidia’s Surround should not have any of the issues that currently plagues Eyefinity. It’s been a while since they implemented support and I also still question as to whether or not they are working on it. As I mentioned in the other linked thread, the longer we’re waiting on proper Eyefinity support, the more I am thinking that Eyefinity users are being discriminated against for multi-monitor support.

I sure hope that when the Wintersday build gets pushed out we’ll have this issue finally resolved. This has gone on long enough and we (Eyefinity users) need a progress report on this. It’s time to bring this post back to the top. It’s unknown as to whether this should be categorized as a suggestion when I would classify it as a technical issue.

Now, initially those with SLI setup from nvidia already has their fix and were able to play the game in Surround with proper support and having the HUD elements placed on the center monitor. That’s fine for the time being. But it’s been a long while since that update.

The Lost Shores has came and went. So did the Mad King. I’ve waited until after both Lost Shores and the Thanksgiving weekend to bring this topic up. Now is a good time as ever to give the developers a reminder that they have things left unfinished.

As detailed in the original post, all of these aforementioned issues remain unresolved due to lack of proper Eyefinity support. As an Eyefinity user, I feel that any Eyefinity gamers need to know on what the current status on implementing proper support for Eyefinity. We would like to know how far and when can we expect an update to bring support in line with SLI. Eyefinity gamers are being left out and the longer the problem exists, the longer ArenaNet will appear to play favoritism when it comes to platform support.

I ask that the developers please put Eyefinity support back into the priority list instead of leaving the Eyefinity gamers high and dry. Granted, nothing stops us from still playing in multi-monitor. But all of us know that we’re getting shafted when nvidia and SLI users can see their characters in dialog scenes and have their HUD elements centered.

I’ve been having the same problem with the same error code. The only thing different today is the Halloween patch and the authenticator. Is the authenticator really the problem?

There are some random cases where people w/o the Auth setup getting this issue. At least I hope that is the case if they’re able to verify the exact error number they get with the one posted here. For me, it seems to be Auth-related because as soon as I unlink it, I was able to run around Lion’s Arch and Queensdale for a while w/o a single hiccup.

However…

This may be unrelated. But I have a buddy who is in the guild and in my contact list. I have a chat tab spec’d to include game messages as well. It also shows who goes online and offline. Frequently throughout that session, I am seeing him getting bumped offline and reconnecting. But when I inquired him about it, he’s still in the game, meaning he never got completely disconnected.

To theorize, it may be that there’s something screwy with the authentication server that they’re using that is affecting those with the Auth (and in some cases, those w/o) and the contact list system. It’s a stretch… and nothing more than speculation. Who knows what is really going on since I was able to actually stay on for extended period of time w/o a random boot to the head.

How easy or difficult is it to remove and re-add the Authenticator?

I ask because my plan is currently up and I’ve been thinking about upgrading my phone. So, if I get the Authenticator on my current phone, and then get a new phone, will I be able to easily switch from the Authenticator on my old phone to the one on my new phone?

I’d hate to get the Authenticator on my old phone only to be unable to switch to the one on my new phone and effectively locking myself out of my own account.

Does your current phone have wi-fi? Got a wireless router or AP as well? You can use the old phone as a dedicated authenticator rather than migrating to the new one. If I was getting a new smartphone to replace what I currently have, I would use the old one as a dedicated authenticator. Just thought you could consider this idea instead of migrating all the auth keys (including GW2) into the new phone.

After a long day, I came back to check on this thread. Ah-ha! So that’s it, eh? Good detective work, everyone. I got my Google account set up again and renamed so I can uniquely identify it. I now have 3 unique entries. I also see that when I went through the link setup for GW2 that it is now appropriately labeled to give us a unique visual identifier. I should check to see if I can file a suggestion or bug report for the Auth app so that they can look into confirming a key overwrite or some sort of pop-up dialog to notify what will happen.

I also vote for a physical device. Not everyone will have a capable smartphone. So having one like this hanging with your keys will be cool to have.

Can y’all address how the recovery process will be? Google has their recovery system covered practically and virtually perfectly. But this is attached to our phone or mobile device. Accessing our account require us to enter that OTP. On one hand, it is fine… as long as we have our device with us. But what happens in the event that we lose that? It is of no surprise that a phone ends up missing, lost, stolen, or broken at worst.

As a suggestion, I think we should take a page from Google’s idea of recovery and print out a recovery code that enables us to access our account despite losing possession of our device that generates the OTP. But please do not let it be a short recovery code if you use that idea. Let it be long, complex, and contain alpha-numeric (symbols optional) characters yet no ones, zeroes, and the letters I, L, and O.

Anyone know how to use the Google Authenticator on Android if I also use it for my actual Google Account? I can’t install the same app twice, and I need it to generate codes for Google, too.

There’s no need to install the app twice. All you need to do is fire up a QR code scanner (I use Scan on my Galaxy S3) and have it read the QR code on their security setup page. Let the QR code scanner pass the info onto Google Authenticator and accept the key. If your Google account is the same as the account name for GW2, then you won’t see anything changed visually. Otherwise, and I am assuming and guessing w/o verifying, you’ll see a new entry that will indicate the one-time-pass to use for your GW2 account.

I’m all set up. There’s a little quirk that got me confused at first. As an Android user, I also use the Google Auth app to login to various Google services. However, when I had it set up on here, it only displayed 1 item. This kinda confused me at first until I tried the code out. It worked and it linked. On my phone, I had it set up for Google and for Dropbox. Dropbox was able to have theirs separate but maybe it’s because they use a different generation system.

Can you please modify the appropriate places so that future users will know what to look for? I’m going to guess that most who do have Android also use the Google auth app with their Google account. And that they already have an entry for their OTP.
