Hey GW community,
I was just curious how the game has changed since the release of HoT.
Is HoT areas easier to solo now (I am much more solo than group-oriented)? Are graphics a bit more optimized now? Have there been more skills added (I thought the skillsets were really limited)? Etc..
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Not with HoT, but maybe if we get a “Depths of Tyria” expansion or something would be interesting.
But currently it looks like areas instead are the norm, Kralk will have the Crystal Desert, Jormag will have the Far Shiverpeaks, Mord has the Jungle.
But I would love to see it happen myself.
The only real changes are scavenger hunts, and some reward changes for materials etc.
“Depths of Tyria” …I like the ring of that!
Sorry for my ignorance, but what are scavenger hunts in the context of this game?
Ah yes that was what I looking for. Thanks again.
I ask this because I am a pretty casual explorer-type who loves checking out the scenery, and I think it would be awesome if some of these changes are implemented for those of us not shooting for level 80 right away.
Just to give you a better idea of what I’m envisioning, the following is just me is me throwing out some of the ideas in my head:
I think it would be amazing if there were more explorable places within the existing zones, such as new underground caverns, hidden zones such as the Pirate’s Cove in Lion’s Arch or the Hidden Jumping Puzzle in Gandarran’s field and (please bear with me on this one) – floating continents for the sake of using the glider in the older zones if you can’t do so already, thereby creating let’s say 50% more things to do in the form of missions/vistas/points of interests/etc…
Even though the game is phenomenal as it is…it would be nice if the existing enemies are either more diverse in employing fighting strategies against them and/or more difficult…therefore making them more than just filler material for lack of a better term.
It would be cool if there were new mission-types, again to create another incentive for new and old players alike to go back to re-explore the old zones which (for me at least) is the crux of the single-player/PVE experience. I know it’s unreasonable as the scale of this game is already MASSIVE, and I appreciate all the work that has gone into GW2. Again it’s just fun putting my thoughts in writing.

Thanks Qugi!
I ask, because while I get high framerates overall, somehow the Asura city slows down my fps by maybe 10-15fps. Though that is definitely acceptable, I was wondering if the new zones will be similarly more (even if slightly) demanding on system resources.
Is GW2: HoT more computer-resource intensive than the original?
I know the final game isn’t out yet, but does anyone have a pretty good certainty on this topic through the beta tests or hearing from the devs? Thanks!
Thanks everyone.
Also, maybe radical is too strong a word. But just the most important changes. Again, thanks!
Hi,
Just wanted to ask what you guys think are the most radical changes since the game first came out. I was a relatively casual solo player that liked pugs and play in my guild for the short time I was active.
Is the game much more balanced? Fun? Optimized graphically? Has the player count dropped significantly? Changes to combat? …fundamental (at least what I consider fundamental) things like that.
Thanks for your replies!
This is great! I have not watched these yet, but I will delve into them. Thanks!
I had the same thing happen repeatedly upon my last install from the download client, UNTIL I upgraded my graphic drivers for Intel 3000HD (auto detect and installed from intel.com). Not sure if your system is anything like mine, but it’s definitely worth a try if you have that video card.

I got this resolved I believe by updating my video card driver(s). There were still a few times where the crashing occurred – mostly at the end of the download, but without too much hassle it eventually completed. I hope this helps others with the same issue.

This is what I did, and I hope it helps you too!
From the battery icon on the taskbar, I went in to More Power Options -> Advanced Power Options → Processor Power Management, configured power consumption to run between 75% and 89%. I don’t know if it has to be between those figures exactly but the point is to keep the processor from overworking.
It has worked amazingly for me. Before I was running the game in the high 70 to low 80 degree Celsius; now it’s in the 60s!

Hi, great community of help so far!
I am trying to install the game through the online downloader and it is crashing anywhere between every 1 second to 5 minutes. I was previously able to play so I KNOW that the game works on my laptop – and very well, even with the Intel HD 3000 graphics. However I no longer have the discs because I threw them out due to overplaying, LOL. I am downloading it again because 1) I think I can exercise better self control this time and 2) obviously it’s the only way to play without buying the game again…or can I try borrowing a friend’s copy?
After uninstalling GW2 the first time could there be a conflict with any leftover files and the download through the installer that’s currently going on? I’ve disabled many windows processes, run GW2.exe as administrator, and turned off anti-virus. After continuing to experience this problem, I’ve even deleted some of the registry files with Guild Wars 2 associated to them. Plus my computer generally runs with minimal background apps to begin with.
When it crashes, the installer will bring up another window that says that a serious error has occurred; when prompted to send an error report…to my chagrin even THAT reports its own error! Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Woody, that’s exactly right. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw that number.

You will still need to download roughly 5GB worth of files after the discs finish installing.
