How much does a character slot cost with in-game money (not gems, or converted to gems)? Is it a price that you actually can afford then at lvl 80?

I bought the game back in 2012 but never really played it much then and now I finally decided to jump on again and give it a try.
I got a lvl 26 ranger (asura) for the moment as my primary account, but I don’t know what other professions to choose. I have been thinking on Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist, Mesmer, Thief (just maybe engineer). But I only have 4 character slots left and I really want a ranger.
I’m most interested in PVE (haven’t really tried much due I’m low level)

In preparation for playing other characters I’ve created Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and a Mesmer, but I really want a thief but can’t chose which one to delete.

If you say “try all, decide after” at what level does the classes become fun/good in that case?

Didn’t see the quick reply, but I’m gonna try out all classes then. 5 character slots, 5 races

I’ve started playing this game a long time ago but came back recently to start over (never came far then). If I want to start a new character, would you recommend sticking with the same race (playing Asura now) or chosing another race. I’m worried that it’ll get boring to see all things again if I play the same race again, but I don’t know if there are any benefits for sticking with the same race.

Any suggestions?
