Here is my warrior – I am a fan of your generic bad-guy models :P

Yes you do, you can either have the prince of balthasar, which is a small dude on two legs with pointy gear and a sword or a flame shaman if you want a mini charr… I don’t want this specific mask, but something that I can use in the same way as I would use a mask… there is a big difference between a mask and a helm just like there is between Rytlock and a pet Imp for example.
There are any number of head-slot items that will obscure your face like that mask. I don’t see the problem.
And if that above statement was frustrating for you to read, that’s pretty much how your statement about minipets is coming across to someone who obviously cares a bit more about the minipet portion of this game than you.
A pet imp or a flame shaman is no Rytlock. Don’t start suggesting all Charr look the same, heh.
Ofc not ^^ and no comments are frustrating to read, feedback is always good But a Flameshaman is a charr which makes it a suitable substitute replacement
that’s my point
I think the point is there are going to be unique rewards that are offered that you’re just not going to be able to get any other way. The Hall of Monuments rewards are an example for original Guild Wars players just as the miniature Rytlock minipet is for owner’s of the collector edition.
You may not appreciate it, but those Hall of Monument rewards are kind of a big deal. There was a lot of advertising and effort put behind them when they were first announced back in the original Guild Wars game years ago.. it took years for that system to get fleshed out, and earning them required no small amount of time/effort. I think people would rightfully freak if they suddenly just became available in other ways.
That said, I am in no way opposed to more skins being added to the game for everyone. Just not those particular skins.
That’s my point. The Rytlock pet is epic, but you can get another SUBSTITUTE pet if you don’t have access to the Halls of Monuments, you can have a different pet, but it’s still a PET… The mask is an example of an item that does not have an equivalent for players without access to the Halls of Monuments. You have particular skins in the Halls, I am not saying to put the same ones for everyone, but have something similar to it so you can improvise.
I think you’re really stretching with your point here. I can just easily say you can always get another item for your head-slot. It does not have to be a head-slot item that looks like a mask, just as you’re telling me I can get another minipet.. even though I have no alternative for a minipet that looks like a tiny version of Rytlock wielding Sohothin.

The simple reason there isn’t a satisfying substitute for that mask is because it was clearly designed to be light-class specific, but they released it as a general skin, as you probably noticed already there’s plenty substitute-masks in the light armor category, just helms for heavy ones, this pretty much explains it.
Was the mask the only skin you wanted?
If so, then you should contribute to topics talking about different armor classes sharing skins.
That is a suggestion I will follow Yes, my personal issue was with the mask and that I am a heavy-armor user.

I think we’re just going in circles and will have to agree to disagree.
I think it’s fair that there are items that are only accessible if you had an achievement in another game, especially considering that they are just vanity items. If you were to provide a different way to get the same item through GW2 then that just diminishes the exclusivity and sense of achievement
I am not saying there shouldn’t be any rewards of that sort. I am saying that for every one of them, there should be a satisfying substitute for players that did not play GW1
Well if there was a reasonable substitute item, then how would those people who invested all that time working for it feel? I find the current system fair.
You will still have the privilege to own the original item, which you can still say “you may have that but I still have this”. It’s the same as wanting a Ferrari, but you can afford a Porsche. You will still have a super-car but the guy with the Ferrari is still going to have a Ferrari.
Wait…What?
You might want to stop while you’re behind.
The principle is that people that do not have either the time or the desire to get a specific “special” item should be able to have a satisfying replacement. If you really want a SPECIFIC item then invest whatever you want into it, but to have a unique item that cannot be accessed in any other way is not fair to people that do not like or did not play GW1 but instead love GW2
The problem is that you’re chasing your own tail. For example: Specific & Unique are Synonyms.
I want to say more but I feel as if I shouldn’t have to. Either that or it just won’t matter anyways. I wish you nothing but the best. Peace.
All the same friend, but Specific and Unique are not the same. A specific item has a similar item that can replace it, while the Unique item does not have anything remotely close to it.
I am not saying that they did this with everything in the Halls of Monuments – You have titles there – you have titles in current PvE without the Halls. You have the Fiery Sword – you have Jormag’s breath without the Halls. The mask however, is an example of a unique item that people cannot access in any other way than the Halls of Monuments.

Why? Took me a few months to unlock them in gw1 I got it because I wanted them unlocked in this game like many many people did.
Also you can still unlock them if you really really want it. The mask is not hard to get unlocked.
Exactly my point. Why should I play a few months on a game that I do not enjoy to have something on an entirely different game that I want? That is not the correct way my friend.
Then you do not deserve the item, it’s as simple as that. If you are not willing to invest the time (and $) to go after it then you will not have it.
And there is where the “reasonable substitute item” comes in. If I want a SPECIFIC item then yes, I should work for it and spend money and a lot of time on it. If I simply do NOT have the time to play a 2nd game for a specific item, I should be able to find a reasonable substitute that will satisfy my needs.

The point is they should make a decent replacement for players that do not play GW1, a different mask or an eye-patch or something similar that will count as a satisfying replacement just like Jormag’s breath is for the Fiery Sword.

One of the best ways to enjoy this game of cosmetics is to try out new combos, are you sure you tried everything? TRULY sure? have you made a dedicated set per character-creation-mask already? there’s at least 4 you want to try out which look very cool imo.
Try more dyes also, they could change everything, and once you’re finally done, try and match a good looking weapon with your newly found style.
About the mask, it actually clips… a LOT, so it’s not exactly optimal if you were looking for it, fear not.
I have tried a lot my friend, I have 4 lvl 80 characters of which 2 are Heavy-armor wearers. I have all the dyes from the rust and brick to the abyss and celestial. I am not saying there aren’t decent combos, but a Mask for example is EXACTLY what I need on my warrior’s look and I cannot have that because it’s heavy and I haven’t played GW1…. I tried helms ranging from Vigil to Arah etc, I personally need a Heavy mask and when I googled it – Halls of Monuments my friend….
The issue is that they are one of a kind items (some of them). I do not mind the Fiery sword that much as there is Jormag’s breath for GW2 players – a perfect substitute. The Mask however, is one of a kind and is only available through Halls of Monuments. You cannot get a Heavy-armored mask or anything remotely close to it if you haven’t played GW1. That’s my issue with it. I am not saying that the exact same thing should be available, but a satisfying substitute.
Again, there are plenty examples of exclusive items in the game already that are gated to other methods of acquisition. This is no different other than there’s something that you want. Like everyone else, you have just as much potential to achieve these items if you so desire.
The thing is that they make you buy an entirely different game to do so. Money is one thing – if you want it, you pay for it (Like League of Legends). The problem I have is that in order to get them not only do I have to pay for it, but I have to spend time (Like a previous comment even said years) in order to get everything I want in an entirely different game. That’s the problem I have with it.
Which is exactly what everyone else has to do if they want those items as well. This was a system that was announced 3 years ago. It’s a bit too late to argue that it’s the wrong system to have implemented. I highly doubt that you’ll see any changes anytime soon.
Again, I don’t have a problem with the system ! I have a problem that some items do not have a satisfying substitute like they should for players that do not play GW1 (I gave the example with the Fiery sword and Jormag’s breath). That’s the problem I have, not the system itself.

According to the wiki, they are accessible in the Halls of Monuments, google it and it will tell you how to get them. Since i’m clearly not a GW1 player, I do not know the specifics on how to acquire them.
Probably most of you haven’t noticed but after the new patch, new items (no, not Ascended gear) have been introduced in the game. Yes, a whole set, new gloves, helm and shoulders as well if I’m not mistaking. You might think that the new items look good? Yes, yes they do! The new helm even is a MASK ! a Heavy armor MASK ! the first one in the game that a LOT of people would want, but hey, guess what? It’s Halls of Monuments. Everything !….. We did overlook that probably 50% of the Titles are unlock-able ONLY through Halls of Monuments, the epic Flame Sword is Hall of Monuments only also, but hey, that was for previous players and a thanks for playing the 1st game. But now? More and more items are being put into the Halls of Monuments, GOOD looking items ! What about us people, that did not like GW1 and did not play it, but we bought and enjoy GW2? Are we suppose to buy GW1 and spend hours and hours playing it just to get the ONLY heavy mask in the game? This is not fair and is not right. One item once in a while is fine, but putting whole sets + more separate items is not. I completely disagree with the new gear that’s only Hall of Monuments accessible. This is pure discrimination to current GW2 players that have not played GW1. You cannot put so much stuff (one of the best looking in the game as well) available only to GW1 players. That is not fair and I do think that it needs to be changed. (I uploaded a picture of the HEAVY-armor mask and the epic sword as well)

I’m on the Vabbi server and I see bots constantly – not a day goes by without seeing AT LEAST 5 bots…… I’m getting tired of reporting because I have to do it every 15 minutes….
I keep seeing this in game and I am not very pleased with it… A lot of games are successfully removing bots and you cannot see them roaming in the world.. This is really annoying and a lot of us would like it resolved as soon as possible.. it’s been a couple of months since the release but I do not see the bots numbers reducing… Of course I report all of the bots I see and I hope other people do as well ! Of course this is not only in the low – level territories (As you may come to the conclusion from my thief’s level). I can assure you this is happening trough out the world all up to level 80 (Yes, I have a level 80 character).
