I always am suspicious of Blue skies posts like these…they smell corporate backed spin.
Regardless of if you think the game is on the right track or not, no one in their right mind can deny that they threw away the so called manifesto. When I first saw it I knew that would be the thing that would haunt them. It is really the equivalent of "John Romero is going to make you his <Expletive> "
Setting fire to the manifesto, bragging about their amazing voice acting and ending up with cringe-worthy results, and deviating so far from the original title with no apparent reason other than to be different is coming home to roost despite the hype train that still hasn’t stopped. I just don’t see it ending well until they step back and acquire a bit of humility and honest prospective about their product..
I personally dont think they threw away the manifesto only that in order to make a game that appeals to a wide range of people they implemented the manifesto in a way most people cannot relate to.
Like grind for example… what people expected was stuff is easy to get quickly what they did instead is you can play whatever you choose but it takes a long time to get to the reward. They’re both a way to handle grind just not what people were hoping for that however doesnt mean they burned the manifesto.
Just have to disagree, when they say “I swung a sword I swung it again..we just don’t want players to grind”…then they put in a grind, that is setting fire to the maifesto. When Ree Soesbee says that: “In other MMO’s everyone is doing the same thing you doing the same boss, you kill him and it spawns ten minutes later and that won’t happen in GW2” and yet it does that is setting fire to the manifesto.
I honestly am not understanding why there isn’t more outrage about this…lets face it if this was a EA game people would be making personal threats against the devs, because Anet more or less lied and all they do now is hype with this “fastest selling game eva!” silliness.
The game sold well because of their previous game, not because GW2 is a universe of awesomeness. I think that Anet has lost a tremendous amount of trust..they secretly admit it and are now scrambling to please their cruel taskmasters (NCsoft) because they know their publisher has no problem gutting them…what they are missing is in the long run the only way to keep that from happening is making the fans happy which means staying true to their word. They think that they can give the finger to their fans a grab a new crop of grindaholics…that is going to blow up in their face.

Who actually cares if it’s casual? Casual isn’t a dirty word, I have seen people devote ten to twelve hours a day to GW2, and I have seen people play a half hour or so a week, as long as you’re having fun who cares?
I have noticed these threads popping up every so often, “we need a holy trinity, game is boring without it, etc.” People need to realize that Gw2 was designed specifically not to have this system! Asking for a trinity for gw2 is like asking for mining/ gathering in a FPS game. If you feel like you cannot live without a trinity, maybe GW2 is just not right for you.
Even though it’s common sense to us…most folks who are screaming for a trinity just can’t wrap their sm..uh “brians” around GW2 system…they want WoWzorz but are too ashamed to go crawling back to it.
Hey guys i’m Contrast Ray, I am new to Guild Wars 2. I am currently downloading the game and was wondering what is the best race to choose and what is the best profession.
Thanks
Welcome to the forums ignore the hate machine they are mostly former Zealots who are buttsore.
Now then….it may sound a bit bland but I’m having a blast with a Human Ranger and My Charr Engineer is tons of fun as well.
If you knew me, you would know I have ‘completed’ the PvE content except the grindy things.
And there is not more to do if you have done that. It is a fact.I am happy if you prove me wrong, because I like this game, but I am not going to lie about my situation because of that.
Sorry I’m not lieing, I have fun daily in GW2 I’m sorry that you don’t
It is pretty hard to find people for dungeons if you do not use gw2lfg.com, even at peak times.
The only content in this game that you can not deplete is PvP and WvW, because those things are not static.
Because there is no real challenge in PvE, you simply walk/run through the content, more as an observer, and when you reached the finish line, well, you are done, nothing more to come except farming for legendaries.
Yep if you are that type of gamer, most folks I know have plenty to do still and they aren’t farming anything….maybe one day folks will get that GW2 isn’t this hardcore wonderland and actually find a MMO that suits them.
I’m having fun and if they stick to the expansion schedule of GW1 I will have fun for a few years to come.
Personally I’m still having a blast and I have been here since beta, there is tons to do other than the idiodic gear grind that WoW is so infamous for, the community is excellent now since most of the D-bag GW2 Zealots have left, it’s one of the most mature and friendly communities I have ever seen.
You don’t need a spreadsheet or even a wiki to play the game and have fun, you’re character is viable even if it’s not the “right build.” Basement dwellers whine how causal it is, but to me it’s accessible fun and that is why myself and a couple million more people enjoy this game.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
You might want to actually learn what that means before quoting it Mr. Tea Party.
Love Gw1 and still play it… doesn’t lessen how I feel about GW2. Both games have their moments neither one is the messiah…and that’s the issue so many of the now disgruntled Zealots on these forums were expecting the second coming they were the ones who shouted down any criticism, they were they ones who acted like total kittenes at PAX and E3 when any other MMO developer said anything….and when the game didn’t sell twelve million copies the nerd raging started.
GW2 is a fun casual MMO….that is all it ever was meant to be.
Did anet say merry xmas to us? i dont see any post of them to us.
Honestly would you wish merry Christmas to this lot of complainers?
I realize Anet must have done something to increase the cap or filtered it out or something, since the other week they all went from Full to Very High.
However, now they’re filling up again and I can’t get on the server my husband and Guild transferred to (which is Tarnished Coast). Neither can my sister-in-law.
Are these servers stuck at Full? Every time I look, it never moves from Full.
Any Tarnished Coast members know what times I should be aiming for to camp the World Select screen?
Server status is based on the number of accounts tied to a server, not the number of players actively online. Even if Tarnished Coast was completely empty of players it would still read full. Shame Arenanet chose to lie about their subscriber numbers like that. : /
Not sure if serious or trolling. anet doesn’t have subscribers, and the server status do base on number of players online.
One of the community managers admitted to it being based on number of accounts. Denying the truth won’t change it. It’s probably all Arenanet can do to prevent NCsoft from shutting the game down after it failed.
Show me a link until then you’re a troll.

Right there. Last post in the thread. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Arenanet is lieing to you, and the game is bleeding players at the throat. Arenanet needs to fix the wound somehow, and fix it fast, or this game will be shut down by February.
Shut down by February? In your dreams.
Thats the thing I’ve never understood. All these players so dissatisfied with a game that cost them a measly 60 bucks. Who have forgotten how to have fun in any game, much less this one. Its like they have this need to see an entire community or communities shut down just to vouchsafe their opinions.
Its kind of pathetic.
The crowds in TC over these holidays are as large as when the game rolled out. The human area is just filled with peeps. Is been great fun re-running the vets and champions on low level alts.
Yeah know exactly what you mean the same idiocy is going on right know over at TOR, there are groups of Buttsore SWG nutters who spend 15 a month just to trash that game on the forums.
I have fun in GW2 No it’s not the bloody messiah, but I never expected it to be.
