Since there is already a red post I doubt this will be read but anyhow:

As I see it, it really comes down to whether you trust the developers of the tool, any tool for that matter, or not. If the functionality is as claimed, you could screen capiture, e. g. with OBS or Fraps, and let the tool run on the playback of said video.
This would mean it is not interacting with the game what so ever, but I can understand that Arenanet can’t evaluate if this is true or not. Especially if the tool is changing a lot with new versions.
Arenanet can’t approve of any tools, understandably, as I stated, but they could approve of the methodology (or disapprove) and I wish they did.

If the tool is doing what it claims it does, is another matter. You could check the source code yourself and compile it but not everybody is able to do that and the compiled version could still use “illegal” means. It really comes down to trust in the tool developers.

Still, if Arenanet approves of the technique used, it would be great.

I know there is an LFG tool in preperation. And I wanted to share my thoughts on how it could be implemented well or at least part of it.
I guess there will be a new “lobby” window with all LFGs in a list; with filters, etc. Pretty basic stuff. Since many people want very specific groups for certain content, e.g. fractals or speedruns, an automatic dungeon finder won’t be an option.
The design I am more interested in is the creation of LFGs.
The party creation (pressing ‘p’ or clicking on the little icon in the upper left corner) for inviting new players, joining a group or following a Commander could be further expanded to create LFGs. Now to the interesting part.

There should be 2 options to pick from:

• “Guild”: If you tick this option, all members of your guild (maybe multiple guilds) get a notification, like an instant messenger, or Steam etc. This is disabled if you choose to or if you are already in a dungeon.
• “Public”: If this option is ticked, everybody can see it in the list of LFGs

You can pick these options independently or if you want primarely guildies you can tick a ‘delayed’ option and the LFG will go public after one or two minutes.

What do you think? Is this the way to go or are there better possibilities?

If they don’t balance this out for everybody (selfishly put: I want my 10 laurels, kitten it!), it pretty much feels like a slap in the face for those you already did their PvP Monthly.
