My problem is similar but it might help them debug.

I didn’t had Bloodstone Crystal Node, Petrified Wood Node and Winterberry Bush Node.
I bought Winterberry Bush Node today from Slooshoo this thing unlocked the Bloodstone Crystal Node in my home!!! Yes you read it right it unlocked the Bloodstone Crystal Node and NOT the Winterberry Bush Node.
At this point Slooshoo is NO longer selling the Winterberry Bush Node and Natto is NO longer selling the Bloodstone Crystal Node.
I was able to buy the Petrified Wood Node from Scholar Surra and it unlocked the Petrified Wood Node in my home.

What amazed me is the fact that the Winterberry Bush Node unlocked the Bloodstone Crystal Node…

So from the 3 nodes from LS3 I was able to buy only 2, only Petrified Wood Node works as supposed to, Winterberry Bush Node unlocked the Bloodstone Crystal Node and made Natto and Slooshoo NO longer offer their Nodes for sell to me.

Somehow fixed after the last patch. Basicaly after the last patch I have all 3 LS3 nodes (bloodstone, petrified, winterberry) in my home instance.

don’t look at the overall cpu usage (that is exactly this: “(sum of all cores usage) / (number of cores)”; look at each core usage. you will probably notice that one core is always above 85% (probably jumping in the 85-98% area).

the main problem with dx9 is that in the end you have to use 1 single thread to send the data (you can split the stuff that you need to calculate in other threads but you have to use 1 single thread to send it, there is no magic to fix it simple as that). Gw2 is using a dx9 engine (gw2 engine is cpu heavy).
AMD FX cpus (same as all the cpus that AMD has atm available, maybe next year Zen will change the things (until I actually see some benchmarks I won’t believe AMD slideshows, AMD “burned” me too many times :p)) have a relative low single thread performance ( here is a link to give you an idea about single thread performance between cpus: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html ; you can check this forum with cpu-z benchmark results https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/share-your-cpuz-benchmarks.216765/ ).

So your first problem is the AMD cpu.
Nvidia has some particular drivers that are not great at all, you might want to try a couple of driver versions. Not always the latest is the best, try some older ones. So your second problem is probably the Nvidia driver you are using.

You don’t need an i7 to be honest an i5 should be more than enough for gw2.

If you look at streamers on twitch you will notice that most of them use Intel cpus. And they use Intel cpus because for gaming Intel is the king atm, maybe dx12 will change something.


I disagree with this particular line: “If you have a chipset outside 990FX each gpu is working at pcie 2.0 x8, which is a bottleneck for this game.”

In Gw2 case you will hit a cpu bottleneck before you will hit a bottleneck caused by pcie 2.0 x8 .

Look at is this way… the item ownership system is a fundamental system in any game, especially MMOs. If you were to change any fundamental system would you not want to plan it out carefully, prototype it on a controlled server and QA the crap out of it? That’s a job that requires weeks, if not months, when you have a game as large as a MMO. Rush it, and you’re almost certainly cause worse bugs. Do it properly, and you’ll be lucky if you have any player-base remaining after your weeks of down-time.

I will ignore most of the things I wrote in my suggestion.

Changing the state of an item from “soulbound” to “account bound on acquire & soulbound on use” (this state is in this game) has no impact on the game. Items still can’t be sold on the market or used by another account. Max you can do is to move them on another toon and use them there but you can no longer use them on another toon after you equiped them. It will max allow some swap between the items some toons have, market won’t even feel it because I doubt someone waited for such oportunity to happen.

This is just a search and replace in the database and nothing else. Those operations can even be done live and require no downtime…

Next time when they post updates about the situation they should avoid using morning, because morning in Europe and in USA are not in the same time and can cause confusion, like making an european understand he will be rollback to European morning not USA morning.

If we’re going to nit-pick… they also spell “color” instead of “colour”, and use the imperial system instead of metric. Shame on Anet.

Actually if the rollback would had send me back to yesterday european morning I would had left the game. Ofc you can say no one will miss you, well it would had just been 1 less player that has no issue to do dungeons with beginers/low levels (and not just press the kick button like the majority does in eu worlds). You will say why? Not the first time it happens, in december 2012 I was scale 56 in fractals, sometime in 2013 i was send back to 30, result was that I never bothered to get back to scale 56.


I don’t care about compensations, if they give good, if they don’t give good, it just doesn’t matter for me.
On the other hand I’d like to see those updates tested more.

If it was only about soulbound items to the wrong character I don’t understand why they didn’t changed the state of those items to account bound + soulbound when used (like the exotics you drop from big chest after you finish a fractal). They could had make the unequip function soulbound the items (assuming they would had went for change all soulbound items to account bound + soulbound when used and not filter the items you already had on you).

I don’t see why items that were required for quests that are soulbound when you get them would had stop working (like the stuff you need to do the event in Airport in EotM). Anyway a drop down option to soulbound the item that was account bound + soulbound on use would had fixed it.

I’m sure someone will say “why you don’t work for them”. The answer is simple, I don’t live in a country where they hire. I’m immune to how badly a large % of gw2 community is acting, not the only game where “kids” think they can do and act in any way.

Atm I can’t even get ingame, I get a nice 1083:xxxx error no matter what toon I try to login.

So yes you can understand that assuming what they told us is 100% real and there is nothing else I’m dissapointed with the solution they picked because I believe the above solution was better.

There were other solutions already presented in the initial post, like totaly removing soulbound and replacing it with account bound. Account bound can’t be sold on tp, can’t be used by other players, you can only move it to another toon and use it on another toon, but…

FPS DROP after Patch

If by any chance GW2 UI is made in Adobe Flash (called it Scaleform or any other fancy name, it’s Adobe Flash in the end) like it happens in other games you will always see a fps drop caused by the UI. I saw this happening in other games and there was no way to prevent the fps drop without using a custom UI that had nothing to do with Flash. Based on GW2 TOS using 3rd party stuff might get you banned.

I have no clue if GW2 UI is made in Adobe Flash or not (I’m no longer actually playing this game, the new campaign will have nothing from what I want added in GW2 so no point to go on…).

Last time I played GW2 I had 75+ fps in the place where one of my toons is parked, now I see 56-59 fps in exactly the same location. Compared to last time I see a lower max core usage (~ -10%) a higher gpu usage (~ +20%) that somehow translates in – 16-19 fps. Nothing has changed regarding the hardware in my pc or the drivers since I stopped playing GW2 in mid january and no other game/3d benchmark is affected in this way.
49 or less fps and any game starts to no longer feel right for me.

Hopefully I will not get a new warning for offtopic for this post like I got in december 2012, I even posted a screenshot with the post and the warning on gw2guru and they failed to say why it was offtopic (i wrote an e-mail as I was instructed to do if I don’t agree with that warning and with the fact that the post was removed but well I still wait for an answer to that e-mail…). Not that I actually care.

Frame rate drops in Black Citadel

think this issue has been here since the game release (i remember having low fps in black citadel since the first day)

that happens on my athlon x4 640, 8gb ddr3, hd 7750 1 gb ddr5
(the rest of the pc setup has no effect, i changed the mb (to move from ddr2 to ddr3, first mb was based on nForce 720D , second mb on AMD970), the sound card (because i hear no diferences between audigy se and alc 892) and there was no change in the fps in this area, updating downgrading gpu drivers had no effect, replacing the hd 7750 with my old hd 5670 changed nothing in term of fps)
yes i know the cpu is an amd one and it’s a bit old, but if you look at the screenshots you will notice that the max cpu core usage in the first screenshot (the 37 fps one) is 83% while in the second one the max cpu core usage is 92%. i see no cpu, gpu or ram (both gpu and cpu) bottleneck to be honest (i also see no hdd activity, anyway i waited until the fps got stable).

(textures on low has always gave me lower fps, vsync on or off doesn’t change the fps anyway the fps is under the refresh rate, effect lod i never saw it changing the fps)

I think they should just scrap the entire thing, this whole thread is nothing but depressing and vitriolic.

Pulling the patch for now would be THE best solution at this time, but this would require ANet admitting that they majorly messed this up. Publically admitting to have been wrong takes a lot of guts and is something the vast majority of all humans seems to be unable to do, so I am not holding my breath.

But yes – delay the patch, remove Ascended gear from it entirely (and bury the idea forever!), work out new rewards for the new dungeon and then release when it’s ready. That would be the best. Right now we’re facing the danger of them releasing the patch with a system even ANet seems to have realized is a bad idea, only to have it somehow remedied later (making Ascended gear available outsides hardcore content, as their latest posting seems to indicate they would do) with a flawed result that would make nobody at all happy (hardcore players wouldn’t get their beloved gear treadmill and casual players would still have to deal with Exotics being rendered obsolete with all negative consequences thereof).

There is an easier solution.

1) Add the ascended items but reduce the stats to be on same level with the exotic items and that’s the only change to the ascended items. If the increase in stats is not so big and has no real efect efect then it will not be a problem to keep the stats at same level with the exotic items, after all only some numbers are changed. The other new things on the ascended items will remain.

People with exotic will have less reasons to complain because in the curent areas someone with exotic will be at same level as someone with ascended.

People that want to get the new ascended items can happy get them.

And yes the ascended items will still be between exotic and legendary because it will be harder to get them then the exotic but easier then legendary.

2) Add a quest/several quests exactly like the armor infusion in gw1 that will add the new upgrade slot on the exotic items. It will not change the look or the exotic name it will only add the new slot making it exactly like the ascended items. And only a quest/several quests will be the only way to get the slow on the exotic items. (You can change quest with dungeon, the entire idea is that at the end of something to find a npc that will add for free the slot cause u completed what he/she requested. You will still have to do something, play not grind, to get the slot.)

I think if above sugestions will be implemented and to be honest it’s not hard at all to implement them everyone will be happy. In first case only some numbers have to be change and i doubt it will take 1 hour to do those changes. In second case new content to play will be required and I don’t think people will complain about the fact that there is something new to do and can be done with their exotic items.


There is something I missed in my previsous post. Other dungeons. When the new area and new items will be all added (all sets) there will be not many reasons to do the other dungeons. You need 3 full runs to get the gift for the legendary. Items you get from other dungeons are not the max you can get so almost noone will farm the dungeons for items. My concern is based on the fact that the number of people that are doing the dungeons is smaller since the announce regarding the new ascended items.

Lol at all the complainers talking about how they worked SO hard for their exotics. What, did it take you all of 2 hours to farm up the 5 gold they cost? Currently theres nothing to work towards besides a legendary and I for one welcome any added content for those of us that dont necessarily want a legendary at the moment.

Fell free to explain me how do you farm in 2 hours all the needed items for a full set of exotic items: all 6 armor pieces, all 5 jewels pieces, 3 weapons (and I’m nice here with 3 weapons I can say at least 6).

Lvl 400 Crafting Going to Become Redundant?

Long post including my own concerns regarding the ascended items. Some are related to crafting some are not.

I for once don’t understand the need of better items. Also it looks like it was something not planned at the launch of the game (the fact that lengedary weapons will be changed is the evidence).
We don’t have yet an armor example but I’m sure it will increase the armor stats (the diference between an rare and an exotic crafted armor stats (defense included) is something you can’t ignore).

Something that I do want: more stats combinations (I for once have no idea how to get an item with the following stats: healing power (primary), vitality, toughness). And some tweaks for some professions (minor in some cases, major in other cases) (there is already a gap between some professions, improving the stats will probably increase that gap without any tweaks). I want to be allowed to craft an aqua breather, the ones I can buy with karma don’t work with my builds (not to mention that the stats are under the headpiece that is replaced; no surprise not many people like underwater fights).

If the new and better items will not require crafting then maxing crafting will almost become useless (except chef). You will still craft some items for your new chars if u plan to level up them by playing or you can just level up by crafting.

I already canceled all my plans of crafting the exotics I wanted for my lvl 80 characters (it’s wanted cause are not needed to play, more like some fixes for some mistakes I did and some items required more for wvw then for pve).

Also another concern, not even 3 months have passed since the launch of the game and we already getting better items in the game. How can I be sure for once that after I got full ascended sets for all my characters I won’t have to farm again for new items cause we get new and better items again… I find no fun in farming and farming and farming…

And btw when will events be fixed that make Arah unavailable (I still have 1 char that needs story done and it’s almost a week since I’m waiting and don’t say move to another world I already did that and 1) I have no idea if on the new world Arah is available or not 2) when I move I lose my one man guild upgrades 3) I need to wait 7 days before I can move again )? I would like to see the curent game content being fixed before new content is added. Usualy new content = more bugs (I played lot of games and I failed to find one that don’t follow this rule). I got tired of sending bug reports because I see no results (and yes I have patience but some bugs should be fix in 1 month since they were reported, in my example Arah is blocking finishing personal story and geting tokens for zaithan gift needed for legendary weapon).

Also there are some people that have a job, have kids so they don’t have to much time to play. Won’t be a surprise if some of them barely managed to get a character to level 80 and get full exotic set for that character. For them it might not look to good the fact that better items are added (depending on the way you get them).

Now if u need to use the mystic forge placing an exotic glove with some stats + some other items and you get an ascended glove with same stats only better then the exotic it will not be that bad. But if the result is a complete random ascended it’s kinda bad.

Some people that played gw1 probably reminds the rank discrimination in HA (one of the reasons HA died). We already see level discrimination for AC dungeon “level 80’’s only” (funny that my list of ac epic fails is full with lvl 80s parties). The new better items might add a new discrimination “ping ascended items or kick” similar to “show stones” in gw1.
