I don’t know if this has been brought up recently, but Anet, can you PLEASE consider adding an option to disable the end-game scoreboard popups and win animations. In lieu of this, freezing the game after it’s over would be fine as well.

I’m sure many reading this have cursed these things repeatedly.

Engi’s pay a hefty price for their Kits – the worst weapon choices in the game.

Though thief isn’t much better, it still has vastly superior weapon choices than engi, and would be a bit unfair to them for thieves to all of a sudden have access to kits.

Sure, there’s barely any variety in the weapons they get, but I don’t think they’re the worst. Pretty much every skill is useful. Thief has it worse IMO, you have the mess some weapons sets are combined with the fact that the initiative system ensures that certain skills are almost all the time are going to be prioritized over others. I’d rather have less options that are all useful over a plethora of useless ones.

People (read: other classes) would complain about kits yeah, but people complain whenever the meta changes. But I really can’t think of anything less drastic that would push venoms and traps out niche use.

I think one of the major flaws with venoms and traps is that it’s not that the effects are in particularly bad, it’s the fact that there’s better skills to spend your precious utility slots on.

So… why not make them kits?
Each kit could have 3-4 effects (venoms/traps) in them. Extra kits could be added to add diversity and fill in the consolidated slots.

There’s probably more that’s needed but I think this would go a long way to making them viable.

One of my issues: Shadow stepping over broken glass floors. You can’t do it, or at least I’ve had zero luck doing it. It’s aggravating when you have LOS to an opponent and you try sword 2 or steal to them and instead of hitting them you blink to the edge of the hole, trip and fall in.

I submitted a bug report for this too.

You obviously haven’t used scorpion wire on someone into the destructible floor or coordinated a tripwire with a banish from your guard teammate…

Scorpion wire works? Nice. Today I managed to sword 2 root someone on a platform and then blink off, bait someone with spike trap, fear a necro off the cannon platform, and downed teleport onto a platform to take my stomper down with me. trolololol.

An expiry is actually kind of useful, there’s been more than a few situations where I wished I could just actually destroy the trap without teleporting. With that said I’m torn. From a s/tPvP perspective, is 2 minutes enough to lay it down, assist on another point, and then get back if you need to assist where you were at?

UPDATE: Tested this, if the trap expires, there is NO cooldown. So there’s a silver lining in that aspect anyway. You are free to use the trap right away if it expires.
