This is the first spvp season where I played more than 15 games during it and wanted to know more about the leagues. Do the players way at the top in the highest brackets get end of season rewards? Does your previous season rating affect the future season rating? By no means am I in the highest group on the ladder but I’m curious what happens when the season ends.
So its working as intended where a player who dc’d just takes up a spot till the match is over and there is nothing you can do about it?
Well, no, it’s intended that they can reconnect and resume playing, but that means their slot is held, so if they don’t come back, that’s the effect, yes.
If you want a more formal response, you might try the PvP specific forums.
I see what you are saying, and that does make sense. If i disconnected i would want to be able to rejoin as soon as i could.

The last 3 instanced pvp matches ive been in one player on my team didnt connect or timed out. The entire match we are down a player and of course lose. It doesnt seem like it boots the player or tries to find a new player. Is it supposed to do this? Should i just hang out in the base if this happens?
Thanks
I am returning to gw2 again and want to give structured pvp (unranked) a shot again. Last time around i was a thief and it seemed my main job was decapping nodes. I liked the idea of double pistol thief but people in game told me it wasnt very good. When i started heart of thorns i felt the pvp felt a lot faster and burstier to me. I want to give GW2 another good shot and want to know what can i play that is used and good for team fights and is a little more tanky? I feel like im not seeing something correctly, and want to .
Thanks
I have a weird relationship with GW2, i really want to like the game and have played it on and off since launch. Recently though when I play spvp i get pretty frustrated. I see lots of classes doing well and doing great burst and damage, but I can’t seem to figure out how, or how to react to some of the scenarios that happen. Like a necromancer sees me, and in 1 second I am down half health with lots of conditions. Then its down hill from there really really quick. Most things point back to meta battle, so is it that you need to spec a certain way or else you are pretty not good? It seems that the spvp is very fast and in a matter of less than 3 seconds you explode. But ive seen players not explode after 3 seconds. Any general tips at enjoying sPVP?
Thanks
The last time I played Gw2 was about a year or so ago. I have come back now and made a new character and started trying structured pvp again. This might seem like an odd observation but did it get much more bursty? Like I remember Guild Wars 2 was selling me on methodical combat and not the WoW style pop all cds and mash them keys. I know little about the new elite HoT only parts, but it seems like a lot of spells I do not recognize chunk a lot of health, really really fast. Did PvP get more bursty? or was it always this bursty and I forgot?
Thanks
I am not a competitive Guild Wars 2 player, nor am I anywhere near an expert on the meta, but I would like to get my head around the problems sPvP is facing. I see a lot of posts talking about how Gw2 pvp is far from where it should be, and ultimately is not competitive. I want to understand this.
From what I gathered so far I see
1- The maps are not really conducive to competitive play and usually have the people who are good at defending nodes being at an unfair advantage with their class. And because most maps are capture maps , this poses a problem ( I have only tried the new map once)
2-The meta does change, but seemingly at odd times and in odd ways and lacks consistency doing so.
3-The builds are “stale” and usually people use celestial
4-Class imbalance (Not anywhere near knowledgable enough on this one)
5-There are not a lot of people who watch the streams
As the experienced PvP community, what map styles would be better for fun and competitive play?
How do the current imbalances affect your enjoyment of the game? How drastic are they?
I understand I come from a background of not knowing much about Gw2. I used to play WoW a lot and stopped in the first month of their newest expansion. The class balance there did have at least to me some big issues. Some classes like the elemental shaman were sitting ducks , while the feral druid could fight 2 people off at once and still win easily. The risk reward of casting was taken out for mage when your casted spells did no damage but your instant casts did all the damage, this seemed kind of insulting considering they said they wanted to enforce casting as something players had to do.
Thank you,
So im a little confused by WvW. I remember when GW2 launched it seemed like there were battles everywhere. Now I log into any of the borderlands around 7pm EST and they seem dead. If they are not dead there is only one blob of about 40 people who runs around border land to border land. It doesn’t seem like there are massive battles or defenses. I had a fond memory of defending stone mist castle near the launch. There were about 14 waves of attacks before they left. Now it seems like we just hand it over and flip flop owner ship. I currently play on Tarnished Coast. Why does it seem like a lot less people play world vs. world? Or is it like warhammer online where you have musical bases so everyone gets points but never fights? Or is prime time different on Tarnished Coast? I understand that a lot of people have complaints about WvW, did that hemorrhage players?
Thanks
