I’m in the market for a new laptop (my HP is awful and broken). My husband is really pushing for a Mac but I’m reluctant simply because of their poor game support. I know the official GW2 Mac beta no longer has official support and has all kinds of problems, so is there another way to play it that’s reliable? I’d rather not partition the drive. TIA
MAC and PC are using the same intel processor now so you only get the look and the great software.
So if you want to play games without troubles buy a good PC.
you can put bootcamp onto a 64 GB flash drive you get for $30
however, not all versions of windows will run on it (unlike mac OS, windows normally won’t boot from a flash drive, but it can be done)
this may help : http://lmgtfy.com/?q=bootcamp+flash+drive
It works only on MAC that doesn’t have DVD reader.
No need to buy new hardware, you already own a computer that can run Windows. It’s not a satisfactory solution, but it’s better than nothing.
Bootcamp is the worst solution.
I’m not risking my data by partitioning my hard-drive to install windows on my mac.
NCsoft should hire a team to make this cider port work…
Has anyone tried the SMC reset to see if that improved anything? I’m actually really surprised that antialiasing helped out also.
“SMC thing” – done
“deleting GW2 folder content and reinstall” – done
No improve at all.
Same thing here for me.
The game doesn’t go further than 8fps whenever I’m playing.
I guess the solution would be to buy a PC or play a different game while they “fix” it.
Do you think the guild wars 2 dev team will release patches or update to correct these problems in the future?
I’m asking this question to know if it would be better to buy a PC to play.
So the first set of insctruction didn’t change anything.
Although, the NVRAM reset works so when I want to play for a long time I just reboot, reset and all works fine.
Is it a retina display?
No it’s not.
There is an unconventional option to test, but let’s try the obvious first.
Make sure graphics switching is disabled under your power saving settings.
Post back and let me know how you go.
It wasn’t disabled, so now I disabled it and the game run a bit better but still at 10-15fps.
I have noticed that the game rapidly sink into low fps below 10fps after a minute of play.
Even if guild wars is the only application running on my system.
I tried different resolution, fun fact, the highest one is the better working one.
Also tried different settings but nothing seems to make it work.
My 2012 Macbook pro has a 2.4GHz i7, 8G ram and an AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB.
Thanks
