I posted my Elementalist before, but since I completely changed her look, and I’m quite happy with it, I thought I’d post again.
You could also send a mail to me ingame or on here. Or just whisper me in game. I’m usually on from 12pm to 1am EST, or somewhere in that time range.
We’re growing in members, and truly hope to get more!
I think it’s human nature to get vested in things. Look at football fans. They can come to blows over their teams with relatively little provocation.
Actually, I think the entire thing might be a carry over from the whole primate territory thing. We simply defend ideological territory instead of defending physical territory.
This is “my” game. I must defend it. That other game, that’s not like my game. If that game is successful, then that means that future games may be more like that than what I like.
It’s all very primal.
That. It’s very true, and a very interesting subject.
I’m fairly casual, myself. But I tend to browse the forums often (they’re not blocked at my school, not that it matters for a couple months since I’m taking my last final for the semester on Thursday) for a good laugh or two. I find it amusing that people get so upset over a game myself, but I do understand the sentiment behind it, mostly because of the reason that Vayne said. I mostly multitask between watching documentaries and playing the game, aside from doing a run in a dungeon, because I don’t care too much otherwise (like if my character dies, or my attempt at a build fails miserably), not to say that I don’t care about the game itself – I think GW2 is a very good game that has good potential, with a mostly good community, compared to the other games I’ve played anyway, even if said community does have their lower points.
Just my 2 cents, mostly since I wanted to just emphasis how awesome Vayne’s post was.
10/10 – Very fitting for a Charr, especially one in the Blood Legion.
Mine is a Guardian named Luccia Chainpyre. She has a bit of a lion theme to her as well.
10/10. It sounds really awesome, and names that are jokes between friends are always good.
My Asura’s name is Toujji, and she’s a warrior. It’s a round about way to honor one of my favorite swordsmen, Tokittenou Hijikata.
Edit: It filtered his name. lol. It’s Tosh-and-izou. (take out the “-and-”)
Thank you for all of the offers, but I found a guild. Didn’t have much time to update that on here, sorry.
Found a guild, thank you.

I went with the bluebell for my whole character’s theme. Her name is even a combination of two genera of bluebells.
Colors might be a bit off since I’m lazy with tabbing to get the right colors, and most dyes I get go to my main. :/
My Mesmer, which I’m still leveling up. I just love how she looks atm, so I thought I’d post a picture.
9/10. Love the Star Wars reference and “Deciduous” – very plant related. (also, i love your forum name.)
I made a Sylvari the other day, but deleted it due to it’s theme, which wasn’t as good in practice as it was in my head. x_x But her name was Keises, which was taken from “Keisetsu”, a type of azalea.
9/10. I think it sounds really nice, especially for a pirate, but not quiet exactly my thing.
My Elementalist is named Rymr Ahlstrom. I had intended for her to be more “in touch” with the air attunement, so I looked at some Norse mythology (I know, more intended for Norn, but I just love it), and found that "Rymr"is a reference to Thor that means “Noise”. I thought it would work. Then I wanted something to have a nice flow with it and helped show more elements, so Ahlstrom, which is basically, according to websites, “alder river”, so I thought that would take care of water and earth, by the fact that trees grow in the ground, and I guess fire since if lightning struck a tree, it would catch on fire.
It only took me a few seconds to type in “Rymr Ahlstrom”, since I used it for another character on another game and fell in love with it(although I spent hours thinking of it). Other names, I spend about 25~75 minutes thinking of and trying to make everything perfect. I usually end up hating the character, like my poor Mesmer, Nyx Riyit, who will most likely be deleted soon. I don’t think it helps that I keep wanting Norse god references in my character names, especially since that’s more of a Norn thing.
However, I actually made a Charr recently, and I’ve been enjoying her name, Aveza Lionstorm. I think it fits her well.
And I named a Sylvari Keises (which was taken from Keisetsu, a type of azalea), but her whole theme, and name, is bothering me since I actually put her in game.
I think unless a name just kind of clicks with me and the character, I tend to delete them and try to remake them with a new name/concept. I used to be quite a roleplayer, so I think a lot of my problems with naming characters just to play comes with that. xD
This is only for GW2, since I haven’t played GW1.
Favorites
Rytlock Brimstone, although the exception to that is when he’s around Logan.
Dinky
Sieran
Lord Faren I wish he would bother to hit on my female characters though, and stop bumming around
Ash Legion Charr (My Charr’s in the Ash Legion, so I think I have some bias there)
I actually like a lot of the Charr. I might just be blinded because all I see is cute felines when I look at them; I love larger cats, like lions.
Disliked(I haven’t run across any character I’ve absolutely hated yet.)
Trahearne (He’s very close to being hated)
Logan Thackeray
I don’t like a lot of Sylvari either. They’re either too good or too evil.
I’m sure I’ll have more dislikes, and probably some absolutely hated characters, later on. I’ve only had the time to get one character up to 80 due to school and general derping.
I really enjoy the scepter MH and the dagger OH, but I can’t really get a good synergy going with the weapons and a build. I’ve tried out a few different trait builds, but none of them seemed to work well. Unfortunately I couldn’t try out different armors with the builds due to having low funding and I want a decent build/gear before I go asking for dungeon parties. I wouldn’t mind swapping to staff for a main weapon if that would work better; I keep a decent one on me for group events anyway.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good trait build and some good armor/accessory/ring/etc stats to use. I was trying to go for something with good burst damage and somewhat decent survivability/healing.
Thought I’d post my Elementalist since she recently hit 80 and I’m content with her look for now. :>
