Just wondering but how can you discover those recipes? And is there a calculator to determine the levels gained by crafting?
I think this is a great resource. So imma bump this!
Sorry to steal the post but real quick? A lot of the times after I do a heart quest, the NPC who has the heart has the option to buy karma items, but after awhile they no longer sell it? Is there anyway I can go back and buy items from the NPCs?
This is a great guide that I think I will refer to once I get a few characters to 80 first. Just wondering, you say it takes 5-7 minutes right? Is it 5-7 minutes for the whole train? Because i’m guessing these are like strong mobs and it’s either you just have a large group or am I thinking that they are harder than what they really are?
Heya! Anyways, i feel that I"m having some trouble leveling so I want to boost my level up with some crafting. I was wondering if there are any guides for huntsman and leatherworking?
If it helps I’m an engineer. Also if I have around 10g, about how many levels (not crafting levels) could I gain if I’m level 15 right now?
Wow, thanks for that information. I have to admit though, that the traits are a bit overwhelming because I’m no where near that level yet. i’m only level 15 and leveling is pretty hard in this game, or maybe it’s just me :P and my lack of combat experience cause I die quite a lot. I heard a lot about Static Discharge, but I also read that it gives up a lot of survivability.
In your opinions would it be better to run like a pistol/shield power build? (that way I can have 2 sigils?) along with the bomb kit and elixirs B?
Also what is this overcharge with healing turret? I hear it’s a really strong heal with a relatively low cool down.
Actually, how are Rifles and using a grenade/bomb kit?
heya!
So i’ve just started a new engineer and after playing around with the weapons in Heart of the Mist. I’ve decided to go a rifle/power build in leveling PVE with my Elixirs H and B, Flame Thrower and I intend to get (bomb kit) when I hit 20. I was just wondering if people had some advice on traits and tips when fighting? I’ve looked and read many guides but I still have some troubles with multiple enemies and ranged enemies.
Wow. Thanks.
After playing around I’ve decided to do a power/rifle build with Flamethrowers, Bomb Kit and Elixir B.
Any help with traits? Or any tips in dealing with multiple enemies? Or more importantly the dreaded ranged enemies where knockbacks and immobilizes don’t help?
Really really great guide. As a new player in GW2, the whole combat system was confusing at first. I was used to the “tank, dps, heal” kind of system and that’s what really screwed me over. But once I learned about and practiced the different strategies, it really saved my laugh.
The thing I didn’t really like about double pistols is the 3, which is that chain lightning sort of thing. Alot of the times it attracts unnecessary aggro and most of the time that’s what screws me over. Also, with grenades is it just me or are grenades supposed to be pretty weak weapons?
So overall just reading other posts and trying things out, can you guys critique this possible build? I want to be prepared as I level up and not just keep being confused. So i’m thinking Rifle – Power and my 3 tools would be flamethrower, elixir B, bomb kit?
I’m not sure about my tools cause I feel like those might be better with condition?

What’s a good weapon set and utilities for strong AOE? I’m thinking either double pistol or rifle, but I’m not exactly sure about the utilities. I’m thinking of Flame Thrower, Mines, Rocket Boots and I’m not sure on the last one.
Also what’s usually better? Med Kit or Elixir H?
I already read that guide, and I try to do the things but I still die?
And I think maybe because I aggro too many? I’m using a dual pistol weapon set, usually 1v1 I can win. But there are those challenges and events where it’s like 1v2 or 1v3 that I die away. Also I try and go back to the heart vendors, but sometimes they don’t have anything to sell
Heya!
Anyways I’m a pretty new player to MMO’s and completely new to GW2. So i’ve done alot of reading already on guides and the tips and suggestions for new players but I still find myself having trouble with my engineer. I’m still in my starting zone, trying to do everything with the hearts, vistas and etc. but I still find myself dying alot of the times. I feel like I am using my skills correctly but I find myself very weak and often times dying at least once or twice an hour :/ I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. I’m dodging all I can, I’m using my “control” skills and elixirs to stay alive but I just find myself dying pretty often.
Maybe it’s the gear? But idk how to gear up without creating a huge dent in my bag’o’gold.
Read the sticky at the top of this forum for all the omg if only I knew that tips. Don’t get caught up in the Queensdale train, it’ll be there a long time. Explore, do the events, get to know the place.
Big help: Assign chat tabs to separate out types of chat. I give Map its own tab and only look at it when trying to coordinate with people.
Is there a good resource to look for help on quests? I realize that the quest descriptions are very vague and I spend 20 minutes looking around for one object, I even bring my mouse over the object to see if it’ll show up on my map, but no.
Well I’ve decided to choose TC. Are there any good readings about the starter areas and etc that I should read? Tips and hints to do before I miss out on too much?
Wow that’s really descriptive, so basically when you guest servers, you can do everything you did on your own server is what I’m getting. But then what’s the drawback from guesting servers other than limited amounts of guesting time? I would try the different worlds around, but I don’t want to have to create characters get them out of the starting zone, walk to the bigger cities and sit for like 5 hours trying to get a feel of the people.

Jade Quarry is also very RP.
TC, Blackgate allows you to roflstomp your WvW matchups in the rare moment you actually get it.
Personally, Crystal Desert is not bad. There’s enough people to run world bosses with and the occasional zerg, but few enough that I’ve never been placed into a queue for WvW, and few enough that I can flip camps solo and keeps 4-5man against the kind of worlds we’re matched against.
You can Command, you can follow, you can solo, you can raid, you can troll… all possibilities are open; if you’re good enough, you can create a legend of your own. Not quite possible in larger worlds.
Of course, for smaller worlds, you might not even have enough people for PvE events, and you pretty much have to solo camps for WvW since you wouldn’t quite have a zerg at all. And then you wouldn’t ever be able to get map completion because your world will never take Stonemist Castle.
Middle is best, imo.
So what would you say is your favorite server? Middle isnt very specific… haha
Thanks everybody! I’ve decided to go Tarnished Coast!
Also, you guys keep bringing up WvW… what is it? I have a feelings it’s world vs world?
Are you in TC? If so, could I add you?
I’m sorry i dont know what you mean by camping out in the wee hours and waiting for a slim chance :/ but I was just asking if everybody spoke in RP chat? Or is it mostly normal chat and then there are those who like to RP?
I know it’s an RP server, but does everybody constantly RP?
So I suppose Tarnished Coast and Black Gate I see. Also, how prominent is the RP server? I also have a tendency to play in RP servers, because it usually has a nicer crowd willing to help.
So, I logged on after buying the game and resolved on the character to make. But then I see… over 20+ American servers to play from. Out of all my years playing I have never seen so many choices. Now I would normally pick the one most populated, but they’re all “Very High” in population so I am quite confused.
I’m sure there already some descriptions of the worlds that people have come to associate, like advanced, RP, etc.
So i was looking for a big world, that’s pretty friendly and especially good for starting people.
I think I’m just going to engineer? I suppose it is a hit and miss, but it seems to do pretty good aoe damage and it has the utility. I played the necro, but maybe I’ll try again, I personally didn’t like the minion system, but maybe it got changed.
And I suppose Guardian is my go to!
Try necro, it is an easy class and you can spec for various play styles.
you also have essentially a second health bar with death shroud.btw the poster above me is taking nonsense, you can play any class, every class has it’s strengths and weaknesses, it comes down to play style and skill.
So I’ve already played a necro before in GW1, so I would prefer not to play it again as my first class. I know all classes are viable, but specifically I wanted to know the stronger DPS/AOE direct damage classes.
I guess I’ll pick guardian first. But all in all I just wanted to try a rather quick leveling and medium-high dps class so I can get through the game play first.
Wow thanks so much for the quick replies!
Are there any good beginner based classes though? I’ve played way too many hunters so that’s no fun, and well Mesmers seem hard. Although Engineers look cool, the high skill ceiling does seem like a turnoff.
But like someone said, how can I do the Hearts of the Mist?
But in your opinions, what is a strong DPS/AOE Class then?
while I do know that there are plenty of posts already, and I have already used the search bar. Please… no flames!
So I played the original GW and i loved it, and finally I decided it was time for me to move on and try the new GW2. About classes, I already played a necromancer and it was a really tough bet for me because of all the debuffs and DOT, something that I realize I do not like anymore.
So I was wondering about classes with a strong damage, DPS and/or strong AOE damage. Healing would be a nice option too.
So my choices are really down to Guardian, Elementalist and Engineer (just the concept of using guns is really cool, though I dont know much more about them)
Also, does race play a big role in each class? or by the time their 80, the racial differences are negligible.
Thanks!
