I like your builds

Been playing engineer as main for a year and it is by far my favorite profession, followed by d/d power necro in wvw. I think it is fantastic that fellow engineers are not afraid to go outside of the “meta”, invest in these builds, then share their experiences with the community. Rarely do I see a fellow engineer bashing on someone for trying something different and I really enjoy this community’s collaboration efforts!

Gizmo, I didn’t even think of it that way… Going to start working on celestial ascended armor and trinkets then. Thanks for everyone’s input!
Oh and I apologize to the OP for high jacking your thread haha!

Personally, grenades in wvw are not an option for me because I hate using them so much. Typically I use a 20/10/15/15/10 build with celestial armor and divinity runes, rabid everything else. It works pretty well but I just cannot shake the feeling that full celestial would be difficult to deal with as an opponent due to the direct and condition damage pressure. Maybe I am dreaming too much… Always have that “my gear and build could be better/different” feeling…
@ edit: Querk- just saw the link to your build. I like it… Pretty sure you just made up my mind. Mostly because celestial makes me feel good inside and I want to make the “zerker or go home” crowd cry with frustration lol!

Thanks Ukune. I am pretty much sold on the celestial armor/specialized trinkets as well. My main question I guess is this ; will going full celestial armor/trinkets sacrifice too much in terms of damage? I like hybrid play which is what I am trying to reach on my engineer. Just not sure how low is too low with hybrid condition damage…

You wouldn’t happen to have any footage of this in wvw as solo or small group roaming would you?

What Trinkets for Versatile Celestial Builds?

You can gamble at the mystic forge with major runes for your traveler runes if you want to go that route but you will most likely lose gold that way. If you are dead set on using full time celestial armor (like me) there really is no way around having trinkets and weapons for your different builds (berserker trinkets for PvE and rabid or whatever for wvw).

Personally the only change I am concerned about is the IP change. Since these proposed changes were posted I have been trying out p/p builds that do not use IP, which I am sure most of you know, causes our damage to drop a ton. Mostly because of the incredibly short bleed duration on Pistol #1. Eventually I ended up going back to IP with 20-30 points in the Explosives line just because IP is too important to my P/P damage.
I could certainly live with this trait gaining an ICD but moving it to Master Tier is just going to pigeon hole me into a higher investment on the explosives line and probably end up using grenades, which I seriously dislike.
If Pistol #1 had a longer bleed duration, like 4 seconds, I could certainly see the reasoning behind this trait being moved to the master tier. Like many have stated before though, the adept tier has no worthy options to take outside of IP for a P/P build. Basically meaning we would have to take a non-beneficial trait just to get to IP.

My PvE build!

Hello everyone!
Ok so Conditions are my flavor on the engineer and I typically run around maps doing general PvE stuff (currently working on world completion) and the occasional casual dungeon run. During solo PvE play I like to use Rocket Boots, Personal Battering Ram and Toolkit (because it is fun) or Throw Mine. My build is by no means optimal but I wanted to share it with the forums in case anyone with my tastes would be interested in trying it out. It basically gives me the freedom to run around killing stuff solo without click spamming but gives the ability to quickly switch to Grenade Kit and/or Bomb Kit for dungeons without having to go into Lions Arch or wherever to re-trait. The build links are built with the gear I have currently and will probably stick with them until I start actually doing the dailies and get more laurels lol!
The Supply Crate is my go-to Elite but if I am feeling frisky I will use Elixir X when solo.
Med Kit is my primary heal skill but sometimes I will switch it out with healing turret in dungeons for the water field and AoE regen/healing
Solo PvE running: I like speedy kits; NO I will not give it up! Dual pistols look cool and are fun.

Rocket Boots: Because they are fun as hell and the tool belt skill is nice to help keep burning up.
Personal Battering Ram: Obviously knocking back the computer operated opponent helps keep distance followed up by the tool belt skill for cripple.
Tool Kit: Mostly for the confusion on the #3 skill but the #2 cripple and Gear Shield helps when trying to get out of a sticky situation. The tool belt skill is fun because; let’s face it, who does not like throwing a boomerang?
OR Throw Mine: Another knockback and because I think it is fun! The tool belt skill is a little lack luster though.

Casual Dungeon Groups:

Rocket Boots: I switch these out depending on what dungeon I am in. If it is condition heavy I use Elixir C or if the team is struggling with taking damage, the Elixir Gun for the tool belt regeneration and #5 skill the help out a bit in that department.
Bomb Kit: Mostly used for the combo fields then switch back to grenades while skills 2-5 are on cool down. Tool belt skill Big Ol’ Bomb is just great!
Grenade Kit: Primary kit used, though I despise the ground targeting and click fest. The tool belt skill drops more grenades on their heads, what else is there to say? I feel it contributes more than just the pistols alone and whatever damage comes from the gadgets and tool belt.

Reasons behind the gear:
Rabid Armor: Because I wanted to have some toughness to help survive. I play a pure berserker Necro and I wanted something that was not as squishy.
Runes: Undead Runes because I wanted the toughness and condition damage. Could have went condition or bleeding duration here but I wanted to break 1200 toughness and 1200 condition damage. Don’t ask why, it was just a number in my head that stood out and was something I wanted to reach lol!
Rampager Trinkets: Mostly because I wanted to reach a medium ground on power for bombs/grenades while continuing to boost my condition damage. Rabid Back Brace because Cathedral of Zypher’s was uncontested and I like toughness! :p
Rampager Weapons: This is mostly because I did not want to spend the gold on Giver weapons for the condition duration increase. Even with Sigil of Agony on one of them it would only increase my pistol’s bleeding duration to 2 ¾ seconds. I did not really want to invest in it unless I was going to hit the 3 second mark and did not really want to put increased duration runes on my Armor.
Sigils: Superior Sigil of Earth because with 60% crit chance this procs often and I like making my target bleed. Superior Sigil of Corruption was a hard decision for me. I really like that it stacks condition damage which is my main reason for it. The other option was Superior Sigil of Agony but since it only increased Explosive Shot’s bleed duration to 2 ¾ seconds I decided against it.
I could have increased my bleed durations more but would have sacrificed some condition damage and toughness in the process. Sure it would not have been debilitating to my play style but my brain REALLY wanted 1200 in each of those areas.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
