Engineer:
Oh yeah, I started the game of going for a planed Asura Engineer and ended up with my first long time played character… Human Engineer. I love it, it was just me and even though I didn’t finish the game with him, Map and PS, I had good times until I got bored of him for reasons which I do not know today. Engineer is cool and I had great experiences with my guild holding Briar for 16 hours plus at one time. Did I mention I love Cannons… The Engineer delivers such a cool play style, maybe not for everyone, but for me he worked in both PvE and WvW.
The most important this to remember is when choosing a class:
“Find one which suits your style, not what other people tells you to play.”
Elementalist:
I had an Elementalist until they changed Mist Form and my use of Firestorm. Yeah big deal, but at that point it made me delete him at around lvl 50 something. Ele is cool, I loved Signet of Air. I’m an explorer I like to move fast. Ele delivers a great mix of builds. And I really liked playing an Ele. I can see why it mostly ends amongst the top three for WvW. My guildleader plays an Ele and through him I’ve seen how an Ele can do a great job in WvW.
With all classes it is just important to play around with it and find your build, but do also listen to others.
I’ve tried every other class in the game, but only for a few hours.
I never did many dungeons. Now dungeons are fun and even more fun when you are on TS with your guild; TS makes communication much easier. I love the story parts of dungeons, mostly. Dungeon story parts are okay, but once you’ve enjoyed your PS, then dungeons are just a fun run with your mates or who ever you pick up. No need for a long story line.
Fractals where actually cool and required a good deal of teamwork, it was sweet. Wish I’d done more of that, but its okay.
WvW, yeah I did a load of that. Mostly before the rankings came in. I could do without that. Ranks and the new rank chests are great, but the points could just as well have been guild wise. I’ve spend countless hours just standing watch at keeps or towers and trebbing Redlake. I enjoyed WvW for a long time and it is a great endgame piece.
I’ve been going on for a long time and if you’ve read this far I’ll be ending now, with a final word on GW2.
GW2 delivers dynamic and fun quests, where you at the beginning just happened to drop by while this or that quest was going on. I couldn’t say enough great things about dynamic quests. A good character customization which continue into the game with armor and colors, remember your transmution stones lads and ladies.
Dungeons with more than one way to finish it and the sweetest challenging dungeons comes in the Fractals.
The game looks good and will keep players going for a long time. I see a few things which spells endgame for me. WvW, Fractals and PvP. What all three have in common is point score. The more you play the better score you get and the more prestige you get.
I’m leaving the game as the fire is no longer burning for me, but I still recommend the game since it has something for everyone. And I’ve spend tons of hours having fun or just strolling around on my own killing rabbits.
This is one Gandarian signing off.
Good luck to you all ingame and best of luck to my server Gandara and its dedicated players in WvW.
Merlins Heir, Kastarina, Tortun and all the others who have fought along the side of my characters:
Van Andesen (Engineer)
Nav Nesedna (Elementalist)
Van Ibenholt (Leprechaun Warrior of Gandara)
I forgot someone…
;-D
PUK for life Eno!
So this was the only place on the forum, where I found I could throw in my review after having played the game since 25th of August 2012 until today, the 20th of Juni 2013.
So this is what I have to say about GW2 after all the time playing.
Character creation is simple and easy, but also it offers some depth to how your character looks and it works for an online game. No need for very deep character creation, you’ll be looking at your characters rear most of the time anyway and the armor customization does the “look good” part for you.
After creating your character you are thrown directly into a nice little intro which for every race is cool and fitting. A short story to get you started and good luck in your adventure.
Now the whole skill system is easy to handle and with the different skills for each weapon it gives you a good variety for only 5 weapon skills. I love it, less skills and no switching around tons of weapon skills like in other MMO’s. Your Utility skills gives you a more deep build, even if its only five more skills. It still gives you the final tools to play your character the way you want to and with traits to buff your skills, it becomes interesting and you can tune your character even more to your play style.
The weapon and armor customization is great. You cannot color your weapons, but hey, you don’t need to. Transmution stones, rocks. The personal customization of your armor using a huge pool of colors and a good count of different armor parts to look just the way you want to.
Each class offers a variety of play styles. I wouldn’t say that the “holy-trinity” is totally out of the picture, but ANet sure did a great job. Each class can pull it’s weight in any area, though some classes might be better at something than others.
Some classes have been loved and others hated.
Classes I’ve played and my experience with them.
Thief:
I tried this one for a short while, but never really liked it. I’ve played with others who played thief in PvE and a little in WvW and they handled it cool.
but after almost 30 lvls, I found the thief was just not my play style.
Thief will always be the least liked, as a mate of mine says “The Thief/Rogue will always grief the PvP part of any online game”. And I tend to agree, almost.
Warrior:
I had an Asura warrior that I created a long time ago after I ran into an NPC Asura Vigil with heavy armor. Cool armor and I went on to finish not only the map, but also the Personal Story with my Warroir. I did most with my Asura, I used Shield/Sword and I loved it, with backup from rifle. I also did GS for awhile, sweet damage. A pure PTV build; “I’m a survivor, I’m gonna make it. Oh kitten a ton of condition damage, ouch.” Warrior is basically a simple class to play, but when you get under the skin, it can really have a good variety of different strengths. I was the little Asura on Gandara running around in green with the witch hat. I loved it. Warrior is much more that the shouted “Rifle-warrior-one-shot-killer.”
Ah, thanks.
Still looks like kitten.

Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone else had seen this.
Small dark orange bubbles rising from your character.
It looks like kitten and I cannot find the reason for it.
I’ve tried it with other characters and on some of them it just disappeared again the same unexplained way it appeared.
Anyone know?
I’ve been running around with my little Asura, who uses Greatsword and a small detail has been bugging me.
If you look at the Human race carrying a GS, the handle sticks up over his/her shoulder and sits in the right place. On the Asura however; the GS drags along the ground and just looks odd. It’s not really in the right position on the back.
It’s a minor graphic thing, but it would be a sweet adjustment to make the GS sit in the same place on the back of an Asura as on a Hunam, the sword handle sticking up over the shoulder and not just the handle tip.
I know there are probably a lot of other things which needs fixing or correcting in the game, but though I’d mention it anyway.
Must be others who feel the same.
Great game anyways.
Interesting thread.
I could not agree more.
Further more I would love to see changes which made people use tactics more. Like changing walls and gates to only take damage from siege weapons. This would force people to actually think and not just run mindless killing runs. The Zergs are good to run camps, but if WvW is more of a 70% focus on Zergs, then there is no use for tactics and people do not have to work together. WvW is actually the only part of the game which I find very unbalanced. And this is sad, because WvW appeals to many casual gamers. Who find it more entertaining than PvP.
WvW is endgame for so many people, it needs a good hard look and fix.
Rastamon, once you type the number hit “Enter”-key.
that did it for me, but still I severely hate the change.
The old way was faster and the new slider is unpredictable.
You can still type, but there is no clear numbers box and the old increase arrow is gone, which made it easy to pinpoint a number.
I just wanted to know what others think about the small change to the crafting window.
When you have to change the amount of items to make of the same type. This button has been changed and personally I hate it. Was much easier with the old setup.
I included a screenshoot so people can see what I am talking about, the area marked with a black ring.
I was pleased to notice that there are now two new reporting options. “Gold Seller” and “Botting”.
Gold sellers are a pain and you should just do the following:
1. Report
2. Ignore
3. Continue with your gaming fun.
Bots are usually easy to discover.
If you come upon a naked player (naked as in only wearing underwear), who is laying dead and you raise the player. Then if the player right off the raise rushes to attack the nearest target, then take a few and watch the player die and raise the player again, if same happens. Rushing to attack, then you can be sure that it is a bot.
I for one am glad that the GW2 team is fighting these two problems. Bots are just for shaking your head at them, but gold sellers are annoying, mainly their mails.
Keep up the good work guys.
