Hello, welcome! I am a fellow twentysomething female GW2 player. It may seem like we’re scarce, but it’s simply that the males are more talkative in public forums.

I’ve found that I can have loads of fun in GW2 without an organised group. Most of the open world is solo-able (lvl 80 maps are tougher), people form blobs to do bosses and events, and if you want to do dungeons or fractals you can easily find a pick-up group using the Looking for Group (LFG) tool in-game (default shortcut key is Y I think). There is a dedicated “Looking for…” forum on here as well, where you can ask people to join you in whatever activity: map completion, achievements, fighting bosses, dungeons, story missions, etc.

But if you prefer to play with a more consistent group or like to have people to chat with, try looking for a social-oriented guild. Look for one that says they are female-friendly. In general I’ve found the community is female-friendly, but also most players are male, so they assume everyone they meet is also male, which can be tiresome sometimes.

MMOs can have unfriendly people who are impatient with newbies; however I don’t think GW2 is like that for the most part. The elite/speedrunner/hardcore people tend to keep to themselves. If you see an LFG listing with a bunch of incomprehensible acronyms, don’t join that one I’ve never had problems making my own LFG listing and I include the words “all welcome” or “noobs welcome” so that the elite/hardcore people don’t join anyway. And if a guild you join turns out to be full of mean or unpleasant people, ditch them and find a better one. Life is too short to hang out with mean people.

This was happening to me and a friend as well and I hypothesized that it was because I had restarted my game since a new patch was released, and he hadn’t. (when it says “New build released. Your game will restart in X minutes”) So because we were playing on 2 different builds, we could not join each other’s instance.

Also yes, EU players cannot join NA instances and vice versa

This happened to me and my bf when we wanted to play the story instance together. The only way we found to do it as a party when 1 person has already done it is:

1. Player who has just finished Rally to Maguuma prologue waypoints out of the instance. (logging out doesn’t work, it puts you back into the prologue instance)
2. Both players meet at the entrance to Verdant Brink from the normal Silverwastes, not the prologue instance. Then you can begin the chapter together as normal.

The same thing happened to me. I gathered all the materials again and went to the cauldron again. Then I clicked the option to make the elixir. But I didn’t get an elixir and still don’t have the cold resistance buff! Has anyone been able to successfully make the elixir a 2nd time? If it doesn’t work, I don’t want to waste the karma to buy more heat stones. (Or waste the time do the whole grawl heart quest again)

Other than this, I’ve had a good experience with the episode so far. New map is gorgeous and it’s fun to run around with a huge torch.
