Having the same problem here. Thanks for looking into this for us.
I just started playing Dagger/Focus this week and it’s pretty fantastic. You of course loose the offhand dagger’s extra damage (fire), ice shield/heal/Condition Removal (water), mobility/control (air), and knockdown/damage (earth). But you make up for those with some pretty amazing defensive skills, a different interrupts, some long range skills, and two combo finisher options.
Obviously there’s a few ways to build around it, such as an excellent condition removal/support build: http://goo.gl/WJWn2
Or even that amazing Signet & Group Aura Build: http://goo.gl/zBJid
But I’m currently experimenting with a Glyph build that has amazing long lasting boons and really nice damage output: http://goo.gl/NJlu4
And here’s a summary of the Focus skills for you:
Fire & Focus gets an Flame Wall that lasts for 8s, can be placed up to 900’ away, can be used with your Earth/Dagger Magnetic Leap to apply Fire Shield to yourself, or in a Blast Combo Finisher to gain AOE Might from your other Focus skills. Fire shield is the second ability and a great way to return damage to your enemies, and if you build your character around auras, you can use this spell to gain long lasting Swiftness & Fury buffs (electricity I).
Water & Focus gets Freezing Gust, which does a little damage, has a 3s chill, and can be cast 900’ away. It’s fantastic when you want to extend the chill duration from Frozen Blast, catch up to another player, or if you just want to slow enemy cooldowns from a safe range. The second ability is Comet which comes with an amazing 2s AOE Daze and a Blast Finisher!
Air & Focus has Swirling Winds, which destroys all missiles in a 450’ radius for a whopping 6s! And Gale which is a 2s knockdown castable from 900’ away.
Earth & Focus has Magnetic Wave which damages enemies, cures 3 conditions, reflects projectiles for 3s, is a Blast Finisher, and only on a 25s cooldown! And finally there’s Obsidian Flesh which makes you completely invulnerable for 4s!

I have the same exact question. It seems like this is a game bug or at least a description bug. Have you tested the Superior Rune of Sanctuary to see if it actually increases Freeze Duration by 20% or does it increase Boon duration by 15%?
Does anyone know the difference between these two sigils? I was experimenting with my dual dagger Elementalist and decided to try a Sigil of Fire and a Sigil of Restoration for the heals on kill. There is tons of information on the web for the Superior Sigil of Restoration and how much it heals at level 80, but absolutely no information on the Major Sigil of Restoration and how much it heals. Has anyone tested it and know the values? Or does it do exactly the same thing with a lower level restriction and for less money?
I might be the only person who feels this way, but I think you guys let us level WAY too fast in GW2 and although I’m sure it’s not a popular opinion, I think the amount of XP we get from Dynamic Events, Quests, and Personal Story and should be reduced by 50% or so in order to bring it in line with the level progression of other MMOs.
For example, when I play any of my characters I tend to reach level 50 right about when I start heading into the level 35 zones. By the time I reach the level 45 zones, I’m usually level 70. And I’ve reached level 80 long before I even touched the level 60 zones.
Most of this is due to me trying to complete a map before moving onto the next one, and running around helping other players in low level zones. Then you get getting side-tracked by the super fun Dynamic Events, and while I love the overall adventure experience, suddenly I’m drastically overpowered for a region. The other day, I was running around a level 35 region with my level 70 Engineer and I was getting over 500xp for picking grapes off a vine. That’s ALOT of XP for gathering a grape.
Was this intended in the original game design? Because then we’re left with grinding dungeons, fractals, and level 80 zones for cosmetics and gear that I could really care less about. When I’d much rather look forward to environmental challenges with an eventual level up as my reward.
Lately I am noticing some very strange behavior in the Black Lion Trading Post which I wonder if it is a bug or not. When selling an item that I found, I usually go straight to the Highest Buyer listings right away so that I can clear my inventory and make some cash. However it seems that more and more often, items will have a Highest Buyer price that is actually lower than the vendor Market Value. So the game gives me an error stating something like, “You cannot sell an item for less than the market value”.
1) If that’s the case, then why are there sometimes hundreds Highest Buyer listings for less than the Market Value?
2) Shouldn’t those players be prompted right away to put in a higher bid which is at least Market Value + Seller Listing Fee?
3) If the game prevents us from selling to those Highest Buyers with undermarket bids, then isn’t the money they used to place those bids locked in the system permanently? Or is it eventually released back to those players because no one will ever be able to sell to them?
It seems like a bug to me, but there may be other factors involved that I’m unaware of. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?
